KDL40W4500 - Is it a smart TV - Is it internet ready ?

Is there a firmware upgrade or an app to enable me to stream Netflix to my KDL40W4500 please ? Have looked on the support page & no firmware upgrade is listed I have a UWA-BR100 wireless LAN adapter but cant find how to get it to work with the TV set

There are a couple of options here, too: 4:3 and 16:9. You can mix them on a DVD by setting the aspect ratio of each Timeline in Encore according to the source material. After that, it's up to the DVD player to display the correct aspect ratio on playout.

Internet ready tv vs smart tv

I'm confused on all the new tv's out now. I'm looking to buy a Sony 40-46" tv. What is the difference between internet ready & smart tv's. Some say wifi/internet ready etc, & have to have an adapter. Then there is Google tv. All seem to say streaming on line & some some they have a browser for the internet. This is confusing, what i've read on line is the staff in the retail stores don't really know. Sony's web site is confusing. I don't want to purchase a tv thinking i can get on the web to find out all i can get is movies. I can get that without a new tv. Can someone make this simple?

'Internet ready' or anything 'ready' suggests you will need something additional to access the functions before the word 'ready' (cable ready, HD ready, internet ready, etc.) The primary difference between a 'Smart TV' and an "internet ready" TV, as suggested, is APPS. The purpose is to be able to use the TV , for things like watching videos, listening to music, viewing photos, independently from your computer (just like a mobile device). Google TV does allow you to 'surf the net' like your computer. There is also no memory storage built in to either type of TV, so depending on what you want to primarily use it for, you need to make sure you have a fast, reliable internet connection to do things like stream video (minimum of 1.5mbs continuous speed) to avoid constant freezing and 'buffering'. Need technical help with the blackberry curve 9360, smart pack BBPACK10, no internet or BBM

My connection has always been fine with BBM and internet, I have just changed to a smart pack called BBPACK10 where you recieve 100 minutes, 400 texts and BBM internet and emails for £10 a month. The texts and minutes are working fine on it but my BBM and internet isn't working it just doesn't have a connection does anyone know how to solve this please?

This error indicate that the problem is either with SIM account or the problem is with your Carrier Network . If you're unable to recieve the registration message then it is your Carrier who can help you in this regard . So , call your Carrier to confirm if they properly configured your account with BIS or if they were having any network issue.

Smart view from microsoft internet explorer

I'm using internet explorer 6.0. Has anybody used smart view from internet explorer.

As far as I know you can't access Smartview from IE. You can use HAB(Hyperion application builder) to create web pages. Soon Jdeveloper will also support designing web base reports as well. Of course OBIEE+ can do it as well.

Synch with "Smart TV"?

Has anyone successfully synched their MacBook Pro with a Samsung internet-ready ("Smart") TV? Samsung has software called "AllShare" which I was able to download to my Dell PC, but it doesn't seem to be available for Mac. (I am a new Mac owner/user.) Everything is on the same wireless network. Or do I just access internet from the TV and leave it at that? I was hoping to "control" content from my MacBook. Any advice, etc. much appreciated!

One thing I find in this business is nothing is instantaneous. If my AirPlay show doesn't show up, I immediately check to see if my wifi connection is showing in iTunes. For a semi-stupid reason, I have 2 networks in my house and occasionally I find my ATV2 on one and my computer/iPad/iPhone on the other. However, when that happens, I don't believe AirPlay even shows up on the "sending" device.

Dynamic tables enable you to display tables whose size is determined only at the moment of their output by the number of the table items to be displayed". I was wondering if this means that I can use field symbols with dynamical number of columns to print a smart form. Because it would be great since the customer wanted a dynamical report depending on the week day it was (If Monday, there was only 12 columns, but if Friday, it will be 52 columns (1 column more for every day elapsed in the current week)). I had to create 5 different forms, but I think using field symbols I had spent less effort. Do you know if it is really possible? If not, then what does mean "You can include static and dynamic tables into a Smart Form"?

The concept of static and dynamic tables in smartforms, means you can use template- ( static table as no of rows and columns is fixed). Also you can use table- dynamic as the no of rows will depend on your line items.

Mitsubishi WD-73740 smart dlp hdtv internet questions.

i'm intersted in upgrading to the mitsubishi WD-73740 hdtv smart internet ready set but from past experience with my mitsubishi WD-65638 non-internet ready dlp hdtv running an hdmi cable from my laptop to my tv's hdmi input gives me a horrible picture in which the text is next to impossible to read so i'm curious if anyone knows if the newer mitsubishi smart tv's like the WD-73740 with built in ethernet and wifi will allow me to receive a proper 1080p picture in which the text is perfectly readable or will i still have to buy an hp wireless tv connect setup so that no internet content is blocked like it is on the mitsubishi smart tv's since the smart tv has no internet browser to allow surfing the net. also will the hp wireless tv connect provide me a proper clear hdtv 1080p image and readable text on the 73" mitsubishi since the connections used are still hdmi to hdmi even though it is wireless or has hp figured out a way to clear the picture up so it will look more or less as good as it does on my hd 1080p laptop? anyone with experience using these mitsubishi smart internet tv's or the hp wireless connect setup please respond with their experiences trying to access the internet on the large mitsubishi tvs with unlimited browsing plus a decent 1080p picture. if i have to buy an hp wireless connect setup to access the internet properly then there is no point in buying a smart mitsubishi tv. i should just buy one without internet and save $600 i would think. thanks much for replying in advance.

ASA: Smart Tunnel and proxy problem

I are having problem that some of my external users that has a proxy setup on theres end can't use the smart tunnel.
They get proxy warning when they click on a bookmark.
If I skipp using Smart tunnel the user can't start the citrix app, get corrupted ica file.
Is it a common problem if so is there a soultion ?

"Smart tunnel supports only proxies placed between computers running Microsoft Windows and the security appliance. Smart tunnel uses the Internet Explorer configuration (that is, the one intended for system-wide use in Windows). If the remote computer requires a proxy server to reach the ASA,
the URL of the terminating end of the connection must be in the list of URLs excluded from proxy services
. If the proxy configuration specifies that traffic destined for the ASA goes through a proxy, all smart tunnel traffic goes through the proxy."

Smart tv setup

I just replaced my old tv with a smart led tv. Do I still need to use the digital adapter with the new set even though it is digital?

Yes, as most if not all of Comcast's digital TV signal is encrypted, you need a box to decrypt the signal. A modern TV with a digital tuner only tunes in clear QAM and over the air digital TV signals from an antenna.
If you have a old DTA adapter with just the coaxial output, it should be upgraded to a newer version with a HDMI output and connect to the TV with a HDMI cable. You would also need HD service on your account. The old adapters for just std def channels might disappoint you with poor picture quality. HD service gives a far better picture quality.
You will also want to connect your smart TV to your internet service with a wired connection to your router or gateway. A wifi connection might or might not give you the enough speeds for streaming video depending on your router or gateway device and how far it is from the smart TV.

No smart preview dialog

The release version of LR5 does not allow you to set the preferences to generate a smart preview on import. This was in the beta but has disappeared as an option under File Handling. Why? Or where has it gone (I know that it is in the import dialog, but I want it as default)

Print preview was omitted from the software. Now your preview options are limited to the program you are printing from. Most programs allow you to click File, Print Preview.
I know that has been a disappointment for many, but I have a possible solution.

the Smart Print is for Internet Explorer. There is an add-on for Firefox as well though.

You can also try an alternate print driver, a previous driver that offered the printer preview option. I suggest the Deskjet 3050 - DJ3050_J610_Basicx64_1315.exe
How to Assign Alternate Print Drivers in Different Versions of Windows. You will be prompted to select the 450 or 990c driver, but as suggested above, I recommend trying the 3050.

15 inch Mid-2010 MacBook Pro freezing since installing Lion

I've had this problem for a while now. It started a few weeks after I installed Lion in the summer. My MacBook Pro would just freeze without warning and the only thing I can do is a force shutdown. I've checked the logs, and these freezes do not log themselves like other crashes, there is no record of them happening. I have also noticed that Apple has identified that my particular model of MacBook Pro can experience an issue where it may freeze intermittently or stop displaying video, and as such they put out an update to help remedy this, which I have installed and the problem still exists.
The freeze appears to happen application by application. One application may freeze, so I attempt to force quit this, but then the force quit window freezes, and then whatever else I click results in a spinning wheel, forcing me to hold down the power button to restart my Mac. I never had this issue with Snow Leopard, it has only started since I upgraded to Lion.
I have taken it into an Apple store, and they could not indentify any issues since there were no logs of the crashes. They wiped my laptop and suggested I try using it for a while without any of my data on it to see if the freezes still happened - they didn't. He then said not to restore my data from a Time Machine backup as any bugs that may be causing these freezes would also be restored. Therefore, I installed every application manually and only copied over my documents and music manually. For a few months, this fixed the issue, but I have noticed that it has started happening again, more and more frequently just like before.
I've also run the Apple Hardware Test that came with my Mac and it found no issues. I've also reset the SMC and PRAM to no avail.
My specs are:
2.4GHz Intel Core i5
8GB RAM
500GB HDD
Lion 10.7.3
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this issue or knows why it is happening, please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.

New to Apple and it is so hard to find anything etc Nothing as easy as XP

Hi everyone I have just got the laptop thought I would go for the best. All the hype is just not living up to it everything you do is twice as long as on XP. Finding folders, finding where your downloads have gone when you do find it and install it you cannot find where it has gone. Putting Icons on your folders is just a nightmare so long winded. I can see why people are not buying apple it is just so difficult to find things. I dare say I will get used to it but the help is pretty awful as well. I am seriously thinking of selling it as it is unfriendly so I cannot understand the hype.
I downloaded an icon set when eventually I found them on the apple site again they are ridiculously hard to find on the site. I downloaded a screen saver the anemone but cannot find where it goes to. I found it in the download folder and installed it assuming it goes to the screensavers but no. So where has it gone? Hunting for system folders again cannot find them. I see apple is so different to XP cannot find any folders so I assume they do not exist. I am very disappointed with apple I think one needs to come straight in to apple computers and not touch windows as it just does not help when one changes to apple.
But if anyone can help me to find where the anemone screensaver would of gone too please do? End of rant and I am trying to persevere but I am so unimpressed so far. I need converting.

A couple of points..
1) downloads - go to your home folder, look in "Downloads"
2) System Folders - don't worry about them. As a newcomer to mac, there's almost nothing in there you can tinker with. Even the most die-hard mac users rarely have need to delve around in there.
3) Finding things?
"Spotlight" at top right is an immensely powerful search system. The magnifying glass.
Try the sidebar "Search for" options too.
4) How things work... just try dragging and dropping them. Unlike Windows, try to get away from the mindset of "I need to use this program to do this to that file" - think more like "what would be neat is if I simply clicked this and it worked..." think in terms of tasks, not programs.
5) Icons - highlight the icon you want to copy. Get-Info (apple-I) click on the icon itself, Copy (apple-C) Highlight the file/folder you want to change the icon on. Get-info, Click on the icon, Paste (apple-V) (much more work to write down than to actually do!)
For example your screen saver.
Download it.
Double click on it.
It should (assuming its a mac screensaver open your screen saver utility (in System preferences) and allow you to configure it. No installing, no system folder...
Cant find it? Use Spotlight to search for "anemone" - or perhaps 'anemona'
Or in Safari, in Windows->Downloads (the download manager) theres a little mag glass that means "show in Finder" click on that.
If you have a local apple store, stop by one day, and chat with one of their staff. Smart folks who are always ready to help.

Follow these steps to access the YUPPTV app from the Internet Video menu:
1. Using the supplied remote, press the Home button.
2. Select Internet Video.
NOTE: If the Internet Video option is missing, Select Refresh Internet Content from the Network section of the menu and repeat step one.
3. Select YuppTV.
NOTE: YuppTV requires a device registration. Follow the steps on the screen to register the account. Visit the YuppTVwebsite for account information and answers to usage questions.

DirecTV wireless is WAY behind the times.
If the name of your wireless network contains any special characters like an apostrophe, question mark, asterisk, etc.....DirecTV will not be able to connect.
For example, if the name of your current wireless network is:
DTVTECHY's Wireless Network.......then you need to change it to something like.......
dtvtechwireless
In order words, use all normal characters and numbers, with no spaces.
