Keeping my Set Ins & Outs when roundtriping Color Project back to FCP

After rendering my color grades and sending the project back to FCP, I'm loosing my previously set Ins & Outs on the clips in my timeline. For instance, some of the clips in the timeline will have shifted, the timeline is still showing the correct amount of the clip, just the wrong portion of the clip? So I have to go through and Slip edit the clips back into the wright spot.
Am I doing something wrong or is this common.
My Workflow:
1)Working on ProRes Files in FCP 6.0.5
2)Set my in & out point on a clip
3)edit into my timeline
4)play with my speed and ramping of the clips & get thing dialed in
5)Send To Color
6)Color Grade all the clips in timeline
7)Render Color (to original format)
8)Then Send To FCP
9)**This is where I'm finding that I the clips are all in the right order and have the right amount of time in the timeline, it's just showing the wrong portion of the clips. Not all of them, just some.

Ya, well - that doesn't scale well.
The habit you build now you'll use on a 30 minute show. 98% will suddenly overwhelm you. Build good habits now and you'll never have to break them later (or have your client break your fingers as the drop-dead deadline fast approaches and you're tinkering with the slip tool).
And yes, I've had my knuckles rapped a few times before I took this advice to heart.

Sending Color project back to FCP

Hello Guys,
I am completely new to Color, so I apologize for this silly question.
After grading my footage in Color, I am sensing it to Render Queue for render.
When it's done I go FILE/SEND TO/Final Cut.
First, it asks me if I want to change graded FCP sequence to match QT export codec.???
So that's the first problem, I have no idea what exactly that means??? (I had sent it from FCP to Color in ProRes and set Color Project Settings also to ProRes) so what should I change?
But the main problem is: When I send it back to FCP, footage looks exactly as it looked before being sent to Color. No grade changes. So I am wondering ... what do I miss?

I didn't use smoothcam. I sent my video from FCP to Color and then I applied a tracker to the pan&scan to do a tracking on the face of my character. I tried importing the "raw" files directly into Color without going through FCP and it did produced a file in the render file. The tracking was there but the image was cut in two... The frame is separated in two parts horizontally, making some kind of tile effect. First time I see something like that.
I found this on the online user manual of Color:
"Animating Pan & Scan parameters is not recommended for projects you’ll be sending back to Final Cut Pro, since neither keyframes nor tracker data can be sent back." :s
I'm going to try again with uncompressed video to see if that makes a difference. Do you think I could use the video that Color send to the render file and import that in FCP? If it is not cut in two...

Unless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40.

If you have your iPad connected to the charger it could be the new "Hey Siri" feature that allows you to use Siri without pressing the home button. Do you have a radio on or are people talking ? Go to settings> general> Siri> Allow"Hey Siri"> off.

Creative cloud keeps saying im logged out when i log in

You will need to go to the folder where the database is stored on your computer (location is dependent on Mac or Windows system) and either delete two folders or rename them.
I am on a windows 7 computer so your file locations may be a bit different than mine especially if you are on a mac.
Close the manager. {this requires right clicking on the manager's icon in the taskbar} (Clicking the X in the upper right hand corner does not shut down the program, it only hides it)
In windows Explorer go to the following folder location: C:\Users\{Name goes here}\AppData\Local\Adobe
Find the folders -
AAMUpdater
OOBE
Rename them
AAMUpdater.old
OOBE.old
Start the manager, type in your username and password then OK the license agreement.
At this point you should be ready to go.

Why does my form data gets cleared out when clicking on the back button.

Can someone explain why does my form selections get cleared out when clicking on the back button.
I have a JSP page that displays a form with some selections and text boxes. I populate the page and submit the request. The action on the submit call another jsp page, which processes the data and displays the results via a <jsp:include> statement which calls the results page. When clicking on the back button from the results page, it returns me to the form page, but the selections are cleared out.
1. Is there something in my calling of the pages that causes this behavior and can I prevent it?
I notice that the behavior is different when using the IE 6.0 version Netscape 7.1. IE clears the page Netscape 7.1 retains the settings.
If I cannot prevent this behavior does that mean I will have to save the state of the form data. And if I have to save the form data, what would be the easiest method of doing this. I'm a beginner to JSP and Java, but have some ASP experience. I don't understand why the back button in a JSP request clears the form data but a regular HTML page does not can someone explain?

the browser doesn't have to remember what you submitted and fill that back in.
you can't prevent it unless you can ensure a new request to the server in which you can fill the default values in there.

Is there a way I can find out when my last icloud back up was using the computer? The screen on my iphone is not working so I need an alternative way. Thanks

Connect it to your computer, open iTunes, the last backup time will be displayed on the iPhone Summary tab in iTunes

Issue of data getting wiped out when user clicks on back button..

I have a selection program which displays ALV on execution. Now I have programmed the "Back" Button of standard toolbar so that when comeone clicks on it, it should leave to selection screen.
WHEN 'TBACK'.
LEAVE TO TRANSACTION SY-TCODE.
But when I do that, the values entered by user during execution of selection screen wipes out and all the selection fields become empty. How can I make sure that when sure clicks on 'Back' button, the selectiuon screen is presented but with values in which user put during execution.

Leave to transaction sy-tcode is as as good as call transaction...so basically using this statement will start the transaction afresh..and give a new selection screen....
Better option would be to leave to screen 0 (preferaby used for a report )which will take you back to the previous screen processed or leave to screen XXXX for a particular screen( in case of a module pool )

Can receive mail, but keep getting a 'timed out' when trying to send

I use bellsouth (ATT) as my mail server - - for the last 4 days, I have been unable to send on my MacBook Pro.
I am receiving mail with out incident and have been able to send from my iPhone - but not from my lap top. Have called Bellsouth, they referred me to advanced support.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Unless Bellsouth has recently changed something, their SMTP does not require separate Authentication -- it is actually authenticated on the basis of the having already authenticated the Incoming server. In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information click on the arrows beside the name of the Outgoing Server, choose Edit Server List, and then choose the Advanced Tab. There for the Bellsouth SMTP, you should check to use the Custom port, set to Port 25, and choose None as the method of Authentication. Remove any Username and Password entered there, and Save these settings. You should now be able to send with the Bellsouth SMTP.
So while I am sure Bellsouth would say their SMTP is Authenticated (and it is), they do not understand that Mail will take care of that on the basis of the Incoming data without the entries for separately authenticating the Outgoing Server, and will in fact cause failure if that is attempted.

I keep getting an error message when sharing iMovie Project to iDVD.

the message I keep getting (after waiting for the agonizing time to render it) is either (-108) or (-50). It is aggravating when it gives NO description of what needs fixed. how do I find the codes to fix my project?

The error message says, “An error occurred while trying to access the service. I have a PC with Windows 7, I don’t know if the PDF was created in Adobe, the document contains text and tables.
I had this problem before when I logged on to the Adobe website and tried to concert a document from there. The person who helped me then was unable to figure out why I was getting the error message. He told me to open the Adobe reader and convert the document from there. That has worked until now. I tried to logon to the Adobe website and convert from there, but get the same error message.
Any help you can provide to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated. The Adobe converter has been extremely helpful for our Department and I would hate to not have this valuable tool.

My phone keeps crashing at full battery, when i turn it back on it says my phone is dead of battery..?

my iphone 5 keeps crashing and switching off by itself. It also says it has a high amount of battery then switches off, when i try to turn it back on it says the phone is dead out of battery. I have restored the phone and it still hasnt changed anything..
what can i do??

Is there a way to turn this feature off. The windows that open up after I turn on the computer again were never open though. My battery dies because I use it downstairs and leave my charger upstairs.

Keep getting an error message when opening a project.

When I try to open a project, a box pops up sayin the project appears to be damaged and cannot be opened. WHat can I do to open my project? Why am I getting this mesage?

Add On...A good look at the original thread seems to indicate that both Steve Grisetti and Hunt suggested the AutoSave try at that time. Did you ever do that? Apparently Hunt is requesting the same AutoSave look again in this thread.

Maintain DV widescreen format when copying iMovie project back to tape

Using iMovie HD 5.0.2 and copying a project back to tape via the camcorder, but the 16:9 widescreen format gets squeezed into 4:3 ratio. Not sure if this is fixable. In the Preferences, I turned off the auto pillarboxing under Import, but did nothing as I suspected. In Playback checking Play DV project video through to DV camera also yielded no change.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Out-of-gamut colors

I am working on something that will only be seen on a computer screen, and I want to use out-of-gamut colors, but I can't find a color profile that will allow it.
Is there any setting I can use that will allow me to use out-of-gamut colors?

If by out of gamut you mean the colors that show an exclamation sign in the Color panel and Color picker when working in RGB documents, these are colors in the color space of the document that are not contained in the CMYK color space selected as a Working Space in your Color settings. Or in other words this is how these colors will become when you change the RGB document to CMYK.
For example if you have an RGB document using the sRGB color space and the working CMYK color space is U.S. Web Coated SWOP v2 you will have one set of out of gamut colors, but if you change your working CMYK color space in the Color Settings to US Newsprint which is with much smaller gamut then a lot more RGB colors will show the out of gamut warning sign.
Likewise if you keep your working CMYK color space the same say, U.S. Web Coated SWOP v2 but assign a different RGB color space to your document let's say Adobe RGB or ProphotoRGB which have much larger gamuts than the sRGB color space then also a lot more colors will show out of gamut.
If by out of gamut you mean in general the colors in a any color space regardless its color mode RGB or CMYK that are not contained in another color space, you have to specify which two color spaces you are talking about. Examples of color spaces are those that you can see in the RGB menu in the Working Spaces section of the Color Settings. The color spaces that can be described in a color profiles can be RGB or CMYK.

Each monitor, not only brand, but each unit of the same brand, has a certain unique color space than can be measured with a color measuring device and a color profile describing the color space can be created for it. If your document is assigned the color space of your monitor instead of some of the standard RGB color spaces like sRGB, AdobeRGB, and etc., then you will have an unique set of out of gamut colors showing the warning sign. Going back to FCP from Color...use original format or ProRes422?

OK, so I've color graded all 5 reels for my feature film and am finally ready to send back to FCP and reassemble! I'm hoping Shane Ross can jump in here too since he's been SO helpful up to this point :-) So I have two different formats which I've graded seperately...720p DVCPROHD stuff (99%) of film and two scenes which were HDV 1080p24. So far when I've sent back my DVCPROHD clips I've rendered out of Color using ProRes422..but my Resolution Presets: and Width & Height settings are what I'm most concerned with. What I've done when sending back to FCP is use Apple ProRes 422 with Width 1280 and Height 720 and changing my Resolution Preset from 720 x 576 DV PAL to 1280 x 720 HD to match the Width and Height settings (not sure if I should leave this at 720 x 576 DV PAL??). However, the clips show up in FCP as 133%..so obviously upscaled. So now I'm going to export the DVCPRO stuff to Compressor to upscale to ProRes422 1920x1080 to bring back and match with the HDV 1080p24 footage before FINAL export to compressor again. Should I not be sending the Color clips back to FCP upscaled to 133% with my Color settings...since I will then again be upscaling in Compressor? Or will it really make that much of a difference? And also, should I check the Broadcast Safe circle in Color when sending back to FCP? I didn't color correct with the Broadcast Safe on so should I now to be on the safe side?

Ok Shane, So actually just went over my Color outputs and I did render everything as ProRes 422 at 1280x720 ...and the clips back in FCP are scaled at 100% so that's good...for some reason I remember having some that came back at 133%...maybe that was just a couple clips somewhere that were wrong...I'll figure that out...but I didn't check Broadcast Safe on the renders so I guess I can go back and re-render with broadcast safe on...so we did shoot 720p HD and I AM going back still in HD from Color.
Now I'm having another issue with the HDV 1080p24 stuff...which is actually only 20 shots of the entire film. But for some reason I'm noticing that they are interlaced when viewing on my FCP timeline, which my settings are HDTV 1080i 1920x1080...now when I export the scene out to Compressor as a ProRes 422 1920x1080 .mov it actually looks great on my computer monitor...no interlacing that I can tell, looks great. However, if I drop it onto my FCP 1080i timeline then there is interlacing again...and worse, when I make a SD DVD it is also interlaced...most noticable an actor's shirt, there is a bit of Moire effect going on...this must be because I'm downconverting to 720x486?? So I've been killing myself trying to figure this one out. Doesn't appear that deinterlacing in Compressor helps any either. Is my only option to blur it out with a gaussian blur of around 2? (the HDV clips do show as 1080p24 in FCP) Not sure if the interlacing would be gone if I were to burn a bluray since it's a higher resolution?? My settings in FCP are 1920x1080 HDTV 1080i (16:9) Pixel Aspect: Square, Apple ProRes 422 BTW.
There's also quite a bit of color blurring when watching from a burnt DVD from DVD Studio Pro...wish it looked as good as it does on my LG LED 32" screen with Matrox mini...man, do DVD's really look this bad? REALLY considering going and buying an external BluRay burner today
So if I could just get this interlacing problem resolved somehow...
