Keeping phones on different firmware loads

Normally I would look to do this but I am troubleshooting a feature problem on my phones and would like to have my phone, possible one or two others, on a different firmware load from what is being used in production. I am new to call manager and havent found a way to do this. It has to be something simple. Would appreciate any suggestions.

No! If you do this, all your production phones will upgrade their firmware and in the process will reboot. what you do is this..
1. Go to CUCM and copy the default device firmware for the phone type in question..
Device>device settings>device defaults
eg for a 7942 on my cluster it is..SCCP42.9-1-1SR1S
Download the required firmware, use the OS admin page to install the firmware
2. Go to the device defaults page above, and if it has changed to the new firmware, copy it some where, then replace it with the old firmware you copied in step 1
3. Go to the phone page you want to upgrade firmware for..scroll down to "Phone Load Name" and copy the new firmware to load name into this field
4. restart the phone..If the phone doesnt pickup the new firmware, restart your tftp service. ensure that before you restart tftp, your default firmware is set back to the old one as explained above otherwise you runt he risk of all your phones upgrading to the new firmware

Phone Firmware Load Change

I have a couple of 7941/61 phones I need to load 8.04sr1 on. I downloaded the zip file and unzipped and now have 5 .sbn files and 3 .loads files.
Do I copy all of them to the TFTPPath directory of each Call Manager including the term41.default.loads and term61.default.loads files? I do not want to change my default firmware loads at this time.

You need to copy them to all TFTP servers. In order for the phones to use the new files you will need to change the device defaults under System in CCM or at the device level. To test it out on only some phones apply the new name at the device instead of the global default.

My family shares one I tunes account but it would be nice to be able to have a different I cloud for family member. Is there a way to do this. Because the I cloud part on the setting on the phone and I pad are greyed out on the phones so you can't change the user.

If they are greyed out then usually this means that the account is not validated on that device. The Delete Account button at the bottom should still work and allow you to remove the current account form the iCloud Section of Settings.
To answer your question, yes. There are four places you can use an Apple ID on an iOS device:
Settings > iCloud
Settings > Messages
Settings > FaceTime
Settings > iTunes & App Stores
The iTunes & App Stores is the only one you want to use a shared (family) Apple ID account. The other three you will want a unique Apple ID for that person to prevent info merging or messages getting shared, etc.

The iPhone's passcode lock feature is completely separate from another iPhone or iOS device.
All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. If some apps were downloaded with one Apple ID and then a new Apple ID is created, in order to download an app update that was installed with the original Apple ID requires using that Apple ID and password.

Help: Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer with different firmware

I want to recover a complete image of a Windows 7 operating system I have backed up to my other server. But I am getting the error "Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer with different firmware. The System Image was created by a computer using BIOS and this computer is using EFI"
The image was definitely taken from this machine - the firmware has not changed!
What do I need to do to restore the image?
Background Story ..
I bought a new HP 255 laptop per-installed with Windows 7 without Operating Systems instal disks (I will NEVER be stupid enough to do that again!).
I took a complete image of the systems, as suggested so that I was well backed up.
However, my machine corrupted its operating systems with a few weeks. The boot recovery CD did not work (would not boot). So in desperation, and because time was short I went out and bought another, legitimate copy of Windows 7 DVD with a license key (So now I have 2, legitimate copies of the operating system!).
I installed the new copy of Windows 7 - but it was dreadful, because many drivers were missing. Mostly the missing drivers were not available on the HP support site for this machine. ALso, boot up was increadibly slow compared to the original OS installation.
So I created a new boot recovery disk from the new version of Windows, and tried to restore using that. New boot disk loads ok, I can find the old image on my network (after loading a few network drivers). But I won't instal the image - giving the above error message.
I tried deleting the EFI partition from the disk (using GPARTED to reformat that partition). That killed the Windows 7 on the machine - but still gives the same error message when I try to re-image the machine.
I have tried going into the BIOS settings .. HP 255 has a "Legacy Mode" - which I have enabled, but this makes no difference at all!
I think that the kind of solutions I am looking for might be:
1. There is a clever way of disabling EFI on my 255 so that it looks like a legacy BIOS machine, or
2. This EFI this is wired into my new boot recovery disk - and there is a way of creating a boot recovery disk that does not use EFI
This has taken me about 2 weeks so far,please help with any suggestions!

I think that you are suggesting I give up on trying to recover the image I have stored on my server and just to instal Windows 7 from my new copy. There are two problems with this.
1. After having systematically downloaded all of the drivers from the HP 255 notebook support page, I am still seeing missing drivers listed. Install the AMD graphics softpaq driver first. It also contains the chipset drivers.
2. The machine is taking a hugely long time to boot up, and seems much slower with this version. Maybe that is a product of using "EFI" rather than "bios" - I don't know.
My assumption is that HP had some special set-up option with their version of Windows which makes the machine more performant. It does not seem to be a coincidence that the image they deliver the machine with is not quite compatible with a 'normal' Windows 7 instal.
So my original question stands: How do I recover the image that I saved away (as per instructed) when I first bough the machine?
You still have not said what you used to create the system image. What is the "image" file's extension?
You are mistaken in your comparison. MSDOS is an operating sytem MBR is a partitioning scheme. that is comparing apples to oranges.
The article is making an oblique reference in that using GPARTED is more or less equated to using the diskpart utility at the command line. Everything done at the comand line is essentially done by use of MSDOS commands. GPARTED does the same thing with LINUX commands via a graphical interface so you don't have to type in the commands in a Linux console.
Do you mean making a backup? a backup is not a clone which can be reproduced on different hardware. The SSD disk replacement does make the hardware differ from the original configuration.
Follow the instaructions on the following tutorial to make your disk a GPT type before installing.

Phone Site is not loading

My desktop version of my site is loading instead of phone version. It loaded the first time then made some design changes and re-published the site and then rebuilt, restarted the program.... and still can't get the phone site to automatically load. Just keeps showing my desktop version unless I specifically add "/phone" after my site name. My site is kathrynraymond.com.

No video across ICT when using different firmwares

Setup:
CM8.6 firmware 9-3-2-11
CM10.5 firmware 9-3-4-17
8941 phones
Tested different scenarios and seem unable to get 2 way video across the ICT.
If both phones are on 9-3-2-11 video works fine.
If both phones are on 9-3-4-17 video is one way
If both phones are on different firmware then video is one way.

The only way I've been able to get around it is by selecting the video, extracting the audio, and then manually fading the audio in/out so that it matches the length of the video fade in/out. While this works, it's more work, takes more time, isn't as precise since I have to manually do it, and is totally unnecessary! The transitions are supposed to automatically apply to both the video AND its audio!
That's the right thing to do in this case (as you found out). But, it may be that this is a one time problem and the next video will work fine...

What is the difference between Device pack & Firmware load

We have purchased a new Phone with model: 7821. We have the CUCM version 8.6.2. As the phone model is not listed int the "Phone type" to Add the phones. I've verified and found the Device pack "cmterm-devicepack8.6.2.26149-1.cop.sgn" and Firmware load "
cmterm-78xx.10-2-1-12SR1-4.cop.sgn".
Could you please provide difference between them? Is it installing Firmware load suffice for adding the new phone mode: 7821?

Devices packs are a collection of the latest device firmwares available for CUCM. They will also add support for new devices.
Firmware loads are just updated firmware for a particular device.
Occasionally Cisco release a QED file which adds support for just one particular device to CUCM without the need for a device pack.

I am using callmanager express 4.0 and wish to update the firmware loads on a 7970g phone, I have downloaded the latest updates as shown below :

After extracting all the files into flash, I configured all the files under tftp-server flash: as shown

It says : "Read the "Read Me" files included with Cisco software updates. These files provide important updated information about installing and configuring the new software." but there is no readme file with the firmware update ?

I can't seem to get all my songs and playlists that are checked to sync to my ipod touch. The ipod has been troublesome since the first round of updates. It was originally set on "itunes match", but it was dropping songs for some reason and since the wifi only operates when I'm in a place where wifi is available, I can't download the songs again while I'm on the road. I turned off itunes match and plugged it in to my computer to sync it that way, and it keeps stalling in different stages of the sync process. After hours and hours of being stuck, it "completes" without syncing any of my playlists that I checked.

Try a low level reformat of the iPod's hard drive to possibly try and repair some of its damage. Use the instructions in this article to walk you through the process.

I may want to drop the monthly service for 2 months or more. So the offer to reserve a number for $100 is actually more appealing than paying 49 monthly for more than 2 months. I just cant find a way to pay it that doesnt get lost in monthly payments
I have tried the cust service number for pre paid. It's menu driven, no option at all to speak with anyone, and no option that matches my question. It's nothing more than a set of text that is accessed by the telephone. One way communication, no chance to get any help :-( Disappointing. And Chat is still busy :-(
