Kernel panic analysis... is there a place I can upload?

To my fellow MAC users,
I am getting some kernel panics on a MAC G5 PowerPC tower that has been checked and re-checked, OS uninstalled and re-installed, hardware diagnostics passed, permissions checked and repaired... with no luck. Is there somewhere within this community or within the Apple Support site to send your log file to to analyze what is going on?
Thanks in advance!

I have an Imac  operating system 10.4.1 and Apple Works 6 and am having problems with Aplle Works 6. It shuts down before I am finished. Is there a place I can download Apple Works 6 onto my computer free?

AppleWorks has never been available for legal download.
Have you done the usual trouble shooting steps:
    Quit AppleWorks
Delete most or all of the Recent Items list.
Remove the Preferences files to the Desktop or to the Trash.
Launch AppleWorks to see if the problems remain.
    You'll find Recent Items in:
username > Documents > AppleWorks User Documents > Starting Points > Recent Items
    There are several preferences files.
    Go to:
    username > Library > Preferences
Locate, select and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
Still in the Preferences floder, locate and open the folder AppleWorks.
Select and delete the two Cache files and the Preferences file.
Button Bars is also a preferences file, but may be left where it is IF you have no problems that appear related to the Button Bar, and wish to preserve any changes you've made to the Button Bar.

    Barry

Well... it's not actually an iTunes or even an Apple question is it? But you can use either Shazam or Soundhound.
If you do a search for both of them, you will find the various options available to you, which include apps for portable devices and in the case of Shazam, a work-round that allows you to use an online option using your computer's microphone on either a PC or Mac.
There may be other services as well, but I know these two.
I do not receive any reward (financial or otherwise) as a result of mentioning either Shazam or Soundhound.

  • Kernel Panic - analyse

    Hello,
i got Kernel Panic from time to time on my Mac Pro.
I guess, as Mac-novice, that it is USB related.
As you can see i am running an Elgato TV-Card on native USB and an USB Hub with several USB devices (i.e. Ipod, external drives etc..)
    Questions:
a)is my guess regarding USB right ?
    b) what can i do to continue debugging ? i.e. which device cause the panic
    c) any other suggestions ?

The KPs are more than likely linked to one of the USB devices you are using. If you have daisy-chained any devices together, undo the chain. Also, look at the hub(s) you are using. Make sure they are all self-powered and can adequately handle the devices you have attached to them. Try removing the USB devices (including the hubs) and running the system for a while. If the KPs stop, begin adding devices back one at a time. When you either get to the device causing the problem, or to the point where the number of devices is causing the problem, stop and look at what is hooked up.
High draw devices should be hooked directly to your computer and not go through a hub. If you feel that you do not have enough in-system USB ports, there are some expansion cards available at good online sources that will add additional in-system ports for you.
Even if you call Apple Care support, the first thing they are going to ask you to do is disconnect the peripherals except the keyboard and mouse to see if the KPs still happen.
This should be pretty easy to troubleshoot and diagnose.

  • Is there a place one can donate an iPod?

I have an iPod Nano, 5th generation, which I am no longer using.  Is there a place by Apple or whoever who takes older models and donates them to a worthy cause?

One good place I think of is local nursing homes.
Our there is this place as well.

    Google for more.

  • Kernel Panic analysis please?

I get these several times a week, and I can't figure out what's triggering it.  The last time it happened, I had just fullscreened a video in quicktime 7 and it was playing for a few seconds, then panic.  I have Mavericks 10.9.3, MacBookPro8,3, 16GB Patriot, Corsair P256 SSD, couple firewire drives daisy chained.

The panic says that a section of memory that was freed was later modified.
Mac OS X does not panic in this fashion. But you are no longer running Mac OS X, because you have added all these intrusive extensions to the kernel and made it unstable:
    foo.tun    1.0
    foo.tap    1.0
    com.contourdesign.driver.shuttle    2.2
    net.telestream.driver.TelestreamAudio    1.0.5
    com.globaldelight.driver.BoomDevice    1.1
    jp.plentycom.driver.SteerMouse    4.1.6
    org.dungeon.driver.SATSMARTDriver    0.8
    at.obdev.nke.LittleSnitch    4052
You can have your add-ons, or you can have a stable system.

  • Is there a place I can see how much data I uploaded other server like the old version of Sync did?

In the old version of Firefox Sync you can see what data was uploaded, with the next Sync I see nothing and when I got my account on the website Firefox, I don't see nothing just a sign in and change password screen. Would there be more there soon?

    Hi Kurbo,
Please do leave feedback for the developers at input.mozilla.org, currently there is not a feature that shows how much data or what data is uploaded.
However if you are handy at picking up apis there are some apis that can be read about [https://blog.mozilla.org/services/2014/05/08/firefox-accounts-sync-1-5-and-self-hosting/ here]

  • Is there a place I can still download CF10?

I can only find downloadable files for CF11, is there a downloads area for earlier version?  I would like to download that latest/last release of CF10 if possible.

There is a community effort by Gavin Pickin to provide a library of past installers, including CF10: http://tinyurl.com/cfdownloads.  See the blog post explaining it here: http://www.gpickin.com/index.cfm/blog/cfml-server-a-different-type-of-coldfusion-repo-cold fusion-installs.

  • Is there a place I can file a complaint about your service?

Ever since I got my new phone (out of necessity as my last one broke) I've gotten nothing but misinformation from the store level to the call center level.  I've been a Verizon customer for over 10 years and I do not appreciate the way I am being treated.  I, unfortunately, just restarted my contract but I will gladly look into one of the other phone companies that offer to buy the contract out the second my account is up to date.
I'll try to make this short but when I bought my phone(yes, from a Verizon store not a retailer) I was told by the salesperson in the store that I could pay for some of the phone then and have the rest put on my bill.  I then asked could I make payments on it they said yes just call customer service(first piece of misinformation) If I knew then that that wasn't true I would have purchased a cheaper phone.
When I called to arrange payment lo and behold I couldn't...because my bill wasn't past due.  I was on the phone for 30 min trying to figure out why someone who has a past due bill gets preferential treatment over someone trying to call before hand to prevent a delinquent account.  Ok, whatever, I paid what I could on the due date, was assured that as long as I called after it went past due I could make payment arrangements.  Called today to make a payment plan and find out that to Verizon making a payment plan mean to post date a check.  I assumed it meant that it would break the payment over a few months. (which, by the way, Verizon used to do some years ago.) Now I'm in danger of losing my phone services if it's not paid in full by the 7th.
I'll have it paid but I'm truly annoyed at all the misinformation verizon employees dole out on a daily basis.

I'm sorry you feel you have been mistreated fedu2396. We do our best to make sure you have the option to make payment arrangements when you're past due so that your services are not suspended. If you're not past due, there is no reason for us to make payment arrangements. Our system won't allow us to make the arrangements on a current account. Also, did you get a receipt for your purchase? Did it state the entire amount was charged to your bill? I'm sorry the information given to you was not fully explained in detail. Please let us know if you have any other concerns. I hope you stay with our family.

  • Is there a place I can download the software from the Droid X.

    Droid X
When you plug in your phone in to your computer, there is usually a prompt that tries to install a program onto my computer or it automatically opens the software program that lets you download the various media from your phone to your computer (pics, video, music, etc.)  I got a new computer and it doesn't seem to work so I thought I'd install the program from within the computer rather than having the phone try to install it.
I checked my USB settings and tried all four (charge only, PC mode, Mass storage, and Windows Media sync) and none of those settings seems to start up the program within droid when its plugged into my computer.
So, can I download this program from anywhere?  I looked around the website but it either right in front of me or its not easy to find.
    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

    Never mind, found it:

  • Tried updating to firefox 5 but my computer is, little too old for it. is there a place i can get firefox 4 again?

before it told me i wouldn't be able to use 5, it deleted 4

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Is there any place I can see a full list of what is available in my iCloud after my first full match?

It'd be really nice if I could log into a website somewhere which would list what's been matched, what's been not matched, but uploaded, and what's been purchased.
Seems like the only way is to open up a new install of iTunes and watch iCloud populate a blank library.

Sorry but no, Apple cannot give you that information. The only way they could give anyone such an IP address would be if they received a court order to do so, if even then; I don't know what sort of tracking and logs they do.
However, if this email claimed that someone had tried to reset your password and in any way gave you a link to click to confirm your account information, the email was almost certainly a phish. Such phishing messages have been quite common over the last two or three weeks and should be deleted without responding. You may wish to manually type in the URL for Apple's page for managing an Apple ID and change your password, just as a precaution, and make sure you've set good security questions using responses that can't just be looked up for you (they don't have to be real information; you can use any response you wish as long as you can remember what you entered).
    Regards.

  • Is there a place I can go on here to file a complaint.

I have a prepaid Verizon phone and I get a text 3 days before my account expires telling me I need to add more money within the 3 days. When I accidentally forget to do this, Verizon takes all of my saved up money off of my phone. Today it took $25, and it has taken all of my money two other times before. I think this is really wrong. The first phone I ever had was Verizon, and I have never had a phone that wasn’t Verizon. This shows my loyalty to this company. I feel like Verizon should give a last minute warning that if the account is not paid then they will be taking all your money. I don’t think I should be punished for forgetting to add more money, and then I don’t even get notice before all of my money is taken. I have never filed a complaint before in my life but I am getting tired of losing money that I “chose” to put in the company.

Does your phone have a calendar?  Why not set a reminder to go off for when you have to pay and be responsible for it yourself instead of relying on Verizon.  Sorry but I can't see where it's Verizon's fault you can't remember to make the payment.  Mary
