  • Trouble building kernel module for sensor support

Hi, I'm new here but have been using Arch for a while.  Recently, I decided to install Arch on an old laptop (Toshiba A70) and have managed to work out most of the kinks to where it runs nicely.  Unfortunately, ACPI support is spotty and the /sys/class/thermal directory gives me only cooling_device0.  I installed the lm-sensors package and ran sensors-detect, which yielded no results.  Although the laptop runs smoothly otherwise, I would like to know the CPU's temp so that I would be able to set up a fan control scheme and CPU scaling (so far it's stuck at the lowest frequency, and that's kind of a big deal for me since the laptop runs on an archaic mobile P4 chip).
Sorry for the story but I felt some context was necessary.  I did manage to find a kernel module that would connect those sensors to ACPI for me (http://sourceforge.net/projects/omnibook/), however I'm having trouble building it on the latest kernel.  Here is the output from running make:

  • Request for PhotoCD support

Now that Kodak apparently isn't going to update the PCD acquire module for Intel Macs, I wanted to put in a request that the next rev of DNG convert the PhotoYCC image pack into DNG. I think this is possible after a conversation with Thomas awhile back. Even if I can only get to the high rez Base16 image pack, that would be better than having to run CS3 under Rosetta.
It would be pretty slick to use Lightroom or CR as a new acquire module too.

Actually one doesn't have to keep buying more and more software to view,
edit and use the images we make. Once just needs to choose open standard
formats. TIFF, JPG, DNG, etc. TIFF and JPG are easy just about every program
that uses an image for whatever purpose will use them. DNG even if your
camera doesn't shoot in DNG the DNG Converter from Adobe is free and is
updated with every new release of ACR. So converting the propritary formats
that camera companies like to use is not an issue and doesn't cost any
money. Once that is done using DNG file is just as easy and nearly as an
available option as TIFF and JPG.
The problem the OP has is that he/she decided to trust Kodak and once again
Kodak has shown their true colors and have proven that one can not only not
trust them, but can't trust their product and formats. Stick to open formats
    and all is well.
PhotoCD is dead and has been for at least 5 years. I see no reason of any
kind for Adobe to waste valuable time and money or supporting a format that
is dead. Instead the OP needs to stop complaining and convert his PhotoCD
images to a format like TIF before he losses the ability to do so.

  • Does kernel-uek for i686 support PAE features ?

    Hello,
I have a new database server with 128 GB of RAM. On this server I'm obliged to install 11gR2 32 bit, so to receive full support I'm obliged also to install a 32bit OEL.
If I use the el5 kernel with OEL 5.7 I can see only 64 GB of RAM, but I would like to install UEK . I didn't find any PAE unbreakable kernel, how can I modify UEK to see 64 GB of RAM ?
    Regards .

Installing Linux x86_64 will probably be your only option if you use RHEL or Oracle Linux 5 or later.
Under Enterprise Linux 5 there are kernel limitations that allow you to use only up to 16 GB reliably before you can run into lowmem starvation issues. The situation was different with EL3 and 4 and the hugemem kernel, which provided more lowmem space to manage the amount of physical RAM.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10839/appi_vlm.htm
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/ Oracle Linux 5 on 32-bit does not have the hugemem kernel. It supports only the 3GB user process/ 1GB kernel split. It has a PAE kernel that supports systems with more than 4GB of RAM and reliably upto 16GB. Since this has a 3GB/1GB kernel split, the system may run out of lowmem if the system's load consumes lots of lowmem. There is no equivalent kernel for hugemem in Enterprise Linux 5 and one is recommended to either use Enterprise Linux 4 with hugemem or go for 64-bit.

  • Request for mp3 support in garageband

I would like to request a direct export feature or a plug-in that allows me to export directly to mp3 from garageband.
Using iTunes as a medium is not only ugly and a waste of our time, it's not very "Apple like" at all.
If you need to charge me $20 for this plug in, fine. Let's just get it in there.
That's all. Thanks for your time.

Nothing goes "through" iTunes. The song is saved to
disk and its name is added to iTunes to play. iTunes
does not affect the exported audio.
True, but you have to export to iTunes, get the song out of iTunes to wherever you want it (and dragging it doesn't always work so you have to burrow in the library), then delete it from iTunes. I call that 'going through' even though as you say the actual audio isn't modified. What I want is to be able to export the mixdown to the desktop as an AIFF file, then I can open it in (for example) Amadeus II and make an MP3 file, tidy up that irritating silence tagged on the end, and so on.

  • Request for Linux support

    Hi,
    I recently purchased a soundblaster li've 24 card.
As dramatic as the improvement is over the on boad sound, the board is very poorly supported in linux and suffers from stuttering and can not record (the main reason for purchase)
Please, please, please could you release enough documentation so someone can write an open driver for your hardware...
    Thanks,
    M

Presumably you mean the SBAudigy LS.
I rather suspect that these are both EMU0K2 cards, and mostly different from other Audigy2-line cards in some omissions like leaving off FireWire and gameport devices,
and using cheaper DAC/ADC devices. Have the ALSA folks tried treating them like the
    base A2, even though they're branded SBLi've/Audigy?
I think it would be more producti've to try that, then go to CL with specific questions
(assuming I'm right) about differences rather than a demand for disclosure.

  • How can i sent a request to apple support? i want to request if it is possible some apps for apple tv please

    Hi again
I am from Panama, and i am using apple tv, i bought it cuz i wanted to used hbo go and fox play apps, also netflix and crackle wich they are already installed on the apple tv, but hbo go and fox play dont, i use them thru airplay, hbo go is really good cuz i dont need to duplicate the screen of my iphone, and i can still use my phone and apps while hbo go is playing thru airplay but fox play dont work that way, i have to duplicate the screen and you all might know, its really high battery consuming while seeing a movie etc, so to the point, i would like to request if apple support can add hbo go and fox play native apps on apple tv for Panama, if it i not possible how can i do with fox play would apple support repair it? i mean that it only works thru airplay on duplicate screen if it is possible to work like hbo go?
    thanks

Proper agreements need  to be made before apps can be added, there may also be other things preventing it, those are currently only available in the US. As for AirPlay, that is up to the developer to enable in the IOS app. They also have the choice to block that functionality.

First off, this may seem redundant.
Our company is looking for security products that can be used to
secure the Weblogic Application server. We are currently upgrading
from 5.1 to 7.0 and left to my own devices I would use the Security
    that is built into weblogic.
However in order to do the due diligence I need to provide other
options i.e. get a product that can be configured to provide security
for the Application server. An additional nice to have feature would
be security for resources outside of Weblogic.
My primary request is for any websites that give a comparison of
such tools. but if anyone has experience using a security tool with
weblogic, it would be great to hear this. If anyone has used an
external LDAP server with Weblogic 7.0 that would be interesting also.

  • Shared VHDX on CSV... Error opening handle for initiator The request is not supported.

Hi. Im having an issue in my lab testing out the shared vhdx functionality of 2012 R2.
The hardware is as follows2x HP DL380G5 with 2xHP P800 Smart Array controllers 2x500GB SATA SSD 2x1TB SATA HDD. Ive used Starwind to create 2 Cluster Shared Volumes on which my shared VHDX files are.
The issue im having is that after the creation of shared vhdx files (3-4 hours) any failover change in the vm configuration will result in Error opening handle for initiator. Initiator: {460b2b45-2f5a-485f-b045-60b68b655895}. Hostname: HYPERV1. File: \SQL QUORUM.VHDX:SHAREDVIRTUALDISK.
Error: The request is not supported..
Ive set the ISCSI sync adapters to "dont allow cluster and client communication" and prevented it being registered in dns (nslookup only shows one ip) yet every shared vhdx has this issue.
Can anyone suggest if this is a hardware issue or software ? It is such a timesaver compared to multipath io and iscsi on the guests id like to get it working.

Ok I figured out how to fix this issue, After searching the code online I found a post about someone trying to use this feature and getting the same error code with the vhds on the iscsi disks of a consumer nas which didn't support kerberos authentication.
Even though I had the cluster setup so the iscsi sync network was set to "do not allow cluster communication" and not used for live migration it was still trying to use this network for the shared vhdx.
The cause was the network binding order which had the iscsi nic above the server one. After putting the 10.0.0.x server adapter on top and rebooting no more messages appeared in the shared vhdx event log section and failover of the guest
    clusters worked.
Hope this helps anyone else who has this problem.

  • Request for last.fm support

There is a lot of people using Last.FM (http://last.fm) Service, which allows us to submit currently playing tracks to a website to create our personal music profiles.
It would be great if Apple developed a feature to submit the tracks played on iPod (It is possible and it's already realized in a couple of other iPod music managers).

I second this request. NX10 support in Lightroom 3, please.

  • Proper Plan for SAP Support Pack Upload

    Hi Experts,
We are going for Support pack upload of SAP at your firm.
Like to get your suggestions on the Plan we have done for going with the update.
The Present Level of SAP in our server is very low 8 stacks low approx in both the Development Server and Production Server.
What is the best way to apply them from the below mentioned plan.
    1. shall we go for 1 stack in Development for the required components then test it for 3-4 days then go for the same stack in Production. So that both the server go sync with each other. This way going till the target stack one by one.
    2. shall we go and upload all 8 stacks for the components required in development first one by one and then test the system for all the errors available and then start with the Production. Will there be a transport problem if the system are not in sync for the so many days.
Please suggest which one shall be best suited  if any other plan can be used for safe and proper update of Support pack.
    Jitesh

    Hi,
    1. shall we go for 1 stack in Development for the required components then test it for 3-4 days
then go for the same stack in Production. So that both the server go sync with each other.
This way going till the target stack one by one.
If Large Support Stack gape is there, then
    1. I would perform system copy of Existing Development System into another separate New Test Server.
    2. Then , I will generate Side Effect Reports based on the Source-to-Target Support Stack gape. You can request such side effect from SMP at https://service.sap.com/side-effects by selecting the solution and by providing source to target SP level per component.
3.Refer The required SAP Notes regarding OCS Know problems for the support patches. Apply latest SPAM/SAINT Updates. Apply Latest SAP Kernel patches.
    4. Apply the Required Support Package stack after taking successful offline backup of Database.
    5. Perform SPDD - SPAU adjustment and record it in single/Multiple Change requests.
    6. Ask the function team to check the Functionality in new Upgraded TEST system
    7. After Confirmation from the Functional & Technical Team, Apply the same support package stack in existing real DEVELOPMENT system and move that SPAU-SPDD adjustment request.
    2. shall we go and upload all 8 stacks for the components required in development first one by one
and then test the system for all the errors available and then start with the Production.
Will there be a transport problem if the system are not in sync for the so many days.
The same above steps will be applicable here also. Change Requests Transports are not recommended between the systems which are on different Support Patch Stacks. With the above mentioned steps your downtime as well as Development Holiday will be minimized.
