Keyboard information needed for Sat Pro 6100

Hi, i have a Satellite Pro 6100 model number PS610E-03SKV-EN
I have damaged my keyboard and need to replace it and i was wondering if anybody knew what is the part number that i need for my laptop to replace my keyboard.
Thank you

Thank you for the advice about the German Keyboard, I shall know to definitely avoid buying one in the future. I was interested in this item because it was a white keyboard in my part number and i would have liked a white or different colour keyboard. I didn't win the auction anyway so i am not going to be disappointed there.
My keyboard from America has arrived and i am disappointed by it slightly. I do wish that i never bought it now. Even though i got it very cheap the delivery cost me $40 dollars because i had to ship to a friend and then she shipped it out to me. What i am dissappointed by is the fact that this keyboard does not even have sign on it and neither does it have a euro sign either. I am not going to install it myself but i am also going to be on the look out for a UK keyboard now because i am not so happy with this one. I find it very odd that a symbol was not on this keyboard.
I have removed keys number 3 and 4 from my current keyboard and placed them on my new one but this has meant that things are going to be messed up and this means that i will be without a hash key now as well so i do think that a UK keyboard would be better for me.
There were other things different as well. The space bar is longer on this keyboard part that i bought and it only has three keys beside the space bar on my right hand side and it has not got a Alt Gr key but two Alt keys. I am thinking that there may have been something not quite right with the keyboard.
The parts number of this item that i purchased is -PS610U-03SR17 as listed on the auction and underneath the keyboard is part number-
UE2027P22
I hope that this will be even compatible with my laptop and be able to handle the spec that my laptop has such as the hotkeys etc if i do decide to use it.
The one that i bought does look very similar to this one.

• Keyboard on Sat Pro 6100 doesn't work properly after remedial work

Hi,
My Sat Pro 6100 has just been away for the usual motherboard and power board replacement with Toshiba, but now I have a strange keyboard problem.
When I turn it on, all the keys work. After a few minutes, '3' doesn't work, then 'r' fails, then '5','7','8','9','0' stop working. At this stage I can feel something getting very hot under the middle of the keyboard. A reboot and no keys work. Another reboot with an external PS2 keyboard, and the internal keyboard is still faulty (some keys work, others don't) but the external one works correctly.
Now if the pc didn't get so hot under the middle of the internal keyboard, then I would conclude that the keyboard was faulty, but for it to fail slowly and sequentially like this, and it fails the same way every day (Since the Toshiba rebuild!).
Maybe, internal keyboard controller overheating?
Does anyone know what this might be? :-(
Cheers,
Homer

Right under the keyboard of your pro 6100 is the VGA graphics controller (the keyboard cable plugs into the same card). It is normal that this part becomes warm during usage.
It's strange that your problem appears after a while and not right away.
It might be just an improper reseating of the keyboard cable (it's a thin layer like a photo film-negative) that easily pops out, but... it can be something more serious, too. (Especially since you had the upgrade done where hardware had to be changed)
I would consult the service center once again and ask for instructions how to deal with this. Don't ignore it (by using an external keyboard instead of the malfunctioning internal) as it might end up into something more serious soon...

• RTC battery & Sat Pro 6100

Sorry for my bad english.
If the battery cmos of a notebook (I have a sat Pro 6100) is damaged completely, the portable one is ignited equally?

Hi Biagio,
The RTC (or CMOS) battery is installed on the mother-board and is used to maintain the BIOS settings when the notebook is powered off. If the RTC battery is faulty then the date/time and other BIOS settings will not be maintained when the notebook is powered off for any length of time.
The normal notebook battery will be unaffected by the failure of the RTC battery and will still recgarge as normal when the notebook is connected to a mains power supply.
The RTC battery can be charged by connecting the mains power supply but leaving the notebook powered off for about 24 hours. If the date/time is still being lost after this then the RTC battery will need to be replaced by an authorised Toshiba Service Agent.

• Product recovery CD/DVDs for Satellite Pro 6100 ?

Hi,
I bought a Satellite Pro 6100 (model number: PS610E-029ZV-BE) second hand and have experienced a non recoverable crash.
I need to reinstall but as you can guess, I don't have the recovery CD/DVDs. Does anyone out there have them and could send/ftp a copy ?
I have tried with an official windows XP Pro CD, but the key which is on the little sticker on the laptop is not accepted...
Thanks in advance for your help
Bruno Mamer

Hi
How Nick said, you can buy the Recovery CD but if you want you can install the original Microsoft Windows OS and then all necessary Toshiba tools & drivers.
You can download the drivers from the Toshiba website:

• Space needed for AutoCAD, Pro/E in Bootcamp

I am entering college in the fall and am planning to go into mechanical engineering. This means I will need to run several engineering programs such as AutoCAD and Pro/E on my 13" MacBook Pro. How much space should I give windows 7 to be able to run these programs comfortably?

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
40GB for Windows 7 alone is considered a good choice round here.
Add to that the amount of diskspace needed by the programs you want to install/use plus the space needed for your files.
I don't run Autocad or something similar so I am not familiar with the diskpace it and the user files need.

• Which Drivers Needed for SATA setup

I'm having a new Western Digital SE SATA 200GB HDD installed tomorrow(Tuesday).
So far I've located the Nvidia floppy for SATA RAID.
I've noticed that there is a downloadable file of 487KB that does the same thing.
What I need to know is....will the floppy start me off: ie can I use  it to install after I hit the F6 button.
If not I can easilly download the file onto a floppy I have ready.
I appreciate that some of the moderators may be busy, or otherwise occupied but since it is 10.02pm here and almost near kip time , a reply before then would be worth its weight in gold
Thanks

He is right Charlie.  This is some further info.
Here is how to install Windows on a SATA boot drive: (This procedure has been used by many including my self to solve the same problem.)
- Have only the SATA drive you want to be the boot drive in your system.  Disconnect the power to all other HDD's if any.
-  Have only one optical drive. Disconnect the power to the other optical if any.
-  Plug SATA drive into SATA 1  (it may show us as an IDE drive somewhere down the list in BIOS.  That's okl)
-  Enable appropriate SATA options in BIOS.  Set boot order to floppy, cd, SATA drive.  Set boot priority to SATA drive.
-  Partition and format using the utilites CD that came with the SATA drive.  (copy any files you need from this drive to a back up drive)
-  Run Windows setup.  No need to do the F6 thing unless you are planning to do a RAID configuration.
-  Windows should install just fine
-  After you are up and running, plug power back into your other drives if any.
I hope this works for you.

• New Computer needed for Premiere Pro

I am not too tech-savvy when it comes to some computer specs, but over the years of using Adobe Premiere Pro, I have used many computers with this program, and while all of them met the system requirements, I have had problems in each instance.
I am currently using CS4 on a Dell Precision T3500, which has been pretty good so far, but now I am editing much larger projects that have extensive data and files, and now my system has slowed down to the point where I can no longer render my media without Adobe freezing up and crashing. For reference, the size of the .prproj file is 15M, and is using over 10G of media, and is freezing up on me.
A simple solution would be some sort of add-on to my system to make it work faster with preview files and can render & export quickly, but realistically I will need a better computer overall to accomplish this. Would a specific graphics card solve this problem?
If I were to start from scratch with a brand new computer from Dell.com, what would be the best OS, Processor, Memory (any noticable difference between 4G and 6G?), and anything else needed to allow Premiere Pro to function smoothly with large projects? I would like it to be cost-effective, but what's most importand is getting PPRO to work the way it is meant to for professional, high-end projects.
I don't need to dissect & learn the interworkings of my car in order to drive it. I wish the same could be said about Adobe Premiere Pro and the computer specs needed for it...
Thanks for your time and effort to help me out. Much appreciated!!
-Rick

Rick,
You may not need to know all the inner workings of your car to drive it, but buying a new (or used) car these days involves quite of bit of research just to understand all of the various option packages!
Let me start by completely agreeing with both wb_martin and Bill Gehrke comments, although neither is suggesting you buy a stock Dell! I know enough to build and support my own systems, but ADK indeed rocks for anyone who wants a cost effective turnkey system customized for their specific video (or audio) editing needs.
I also agree with Alex's comments and his "hybrid" recommendation regarding a Dell or HP workstation with a nVidia gamer's series GTX video card. You cannot however order those from Dell's or HP's web sites though since they normally only offer the Quadro nVidia cards on their workstation series offerings.
I will assume that you are editing DV and/or HD and not RED 4k or larger media.
Dell has systems in both their gamers line and workstation line that would work pretty well for large projects assuming you jump up to Adobe's CS5/5.5/6 software which supports use of both cpu and gpu (video card) processing to really speed up editing and renders:
Workstation - Dell T3600
Xeon E5-1650, 6-core, 3.2GHz (3.8 GHz turbo), Win7 Pro 64-bit, $1629 base price
635 watt p/s $35
32GB 1600 MHz ECC RAM $819
Quadro 5000 2.5 GB $1309
4TB RAID 0 $252
Blu-ray burner $222
TOTAL = $4266
Gamer's Alienware Aurora
i7-3930k factory oc'd to 4.1GHz, Win7 Pro 64-bit, $2119 base price
32GB, 1600 MHz RAM $450
GTX 680 2GB video card $450
4TB RAID 0 $250
Blu-ray burner $125
TOTAL = $3394
The workstation option is a really solid system (like your T3500) and Dell's workstation support is pretty good.
The gamer's option is significantly less expensive and faster. I personally think that its also pretty UGLY!
IMHO Dell and HP provide very nice workstation base systems but then charge really inflated prices for memory, hard drives, optical drive upgrades, etc. So, that brings you back to a "hybrid" option if you would be up to it. That is, buy a base Dell (or HP) workstation and then add 3rd party RAM, graphics card, and hard drive(s). That will not void your warranty, but will not be a completely turnkey solution either.
BTW, HP makes a killer workstation pre-configured powerful enough to edit Red 4k. Unfortunately it costs almost $10k!
Good luck with this adventure!
Jim

• Apple usb wired keyboard not working for MBP pro w/ 0 for stop on numeric k

Just got logic 8 and noticing that it does load up quicker with the new os update.
I'm going through the first getting started manual and I have a apple usb keyboard attached to my mac book pro.
When I press 0 on the numeric keypad it doesn't stop the sequencer it just plays this soft like error sound or something. space bar works for stop however.
Am I in the correct mode or what not? when I press 1, 3, 6 the views change, if there are different modes for the numeric keypad.
I need to get that 0 key working for stop as it says in the first getting started manual on page 18 under "To start and stop playback:"
my setup

The zero button doesn't work for screensets - there are no screensets with a zero in (ie, it goes from 9 to 11, there is no 10).
If you want your zero key to do something, use the key commands window to assign it to whatever you like.

• Improvement needed for officejet pro series

I've been using this OJ pro 8500a for about a month,
I just love the big LCD screen!  Here are some thoughts
I think HP can improve the newer printer.
1) simple to use interface, larger buttons (icons), easy
         see and press.
2) display digital clock when it is not in use instate of
         demo screen.
3) able to turn off nagging head alignment messages.
4) voice anounce of printer status.
5) love to see the HP's Officejet Pro X printhead in
this class of printer (love the speed but the X printer
         is real ugly design).

Welcome to the forums.
Just to note, this is primarily a user to user community.
You could try using the following form to provide any feedback you would like to give HP directly.

• Programming and Network Information Needs for my Wireless Network

I am looking for a solution to two objectives for my router (currently the airport extreme within my time capsule):
1. Is there software that, in plan english, will give me a list of the computers and devices that are on using my router and that will provide me with a list of websites visited? Most of what I can find is highly technical in the information.
2. I'd like to simply shut down the wireless from time to time in our house and currently the only approach I can think of is to unplug the ethernet cable that connects the time capsule to my cable modem. Is there a software program that provides a simple on/off button or, even better, that can shut the thing off for preprogramed periods of time? Freedom is a great program for individual computers in this way, and I am looking for something that works for the entire router.
Thanks!

Gibson123, Welcome to the discussion area!
You really need to get a router which has these capabilities instead of using the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).

• What replacement Airport Extreme Card do I need for Macbook Pro 8.2?

It looks like my Airport Extreme Card has failed, although the Blue Tooth  is fine. I'm assuming that I need to buy a replacement but am struggling to find what I need. I have a Macbook Pro 15" early 2011 i7 2.2ghz so just need to know what cards are compatable.
It's been a slow failiure, over a couple of months but now it is not even recognised in the System profiler. I am happy to open the case and install a new card, I just need t know what will work. Is there a better card than the original out there, or even an upgrade? I've upgraded the Ram and had to change the HHD already, so as a machine it's starting to resemble the Philosopher's Axe...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ralph,
Thanks for the speedy response!
I"ve had the case open when I changed the HHD and Ram, and can seen where the card slots in. It's held by a supporting arm which lifts up when disconected from the Logic Board. it's weird looking inside, as you can see there are many of the same componants I've seen in other laptops. It is a tidier build though. I'm confident that if I detach the 3 antener conectors and remove the retainer screws a new card will fit back in.
The Genius Bars here in London are highly over subscribed, and I don't think I have the time or budget for that.
I'll keep plugging away, and see what happens. I'm almost getting used to being tethered to the Ethernet cable. I've only tripped over it 20 times a day!
Take it easy.

It's this one:

in the U.S. online Apple store. If you go to the online store for your country, you should be able to back into the proper model using the description of this one. What they call it should be the same. Just make sure the "15-inch" box is selected.
