Keyboard shipped with Pavilion non-standard number keypad

Hello, I advised a friend to buy an HP Pavilion 550 desktop for use at her office. She is a bookkeeper and relies heavily on the number pad on the right side of the keyboard. The keyboard that shipped has a non-standard numeric keypad where the "0" key has a right facing arrow instead of the "0" key. Financial people cannot function with this type of keyboard. I had never seen a keyboard like this before and cannot imaging why HP shipped something that is not standard. I asked her to contact HP support, since there must have been a mistake. HP support offered to SELL her a new keyboard, but would not replace the keyboard shipped with the PC. The PC is brand new and just came out of the box! This is an embarrassing display of our support for our products.  Please help.

i suppose you could do that - but that seems like a royal pain, and certainly not the graceful experience that apple is known for.
Alternatively - i have found you can just type CHA CHA in text with the keyboard and it translates it into numbers accordingly.
Still - a jarring experience, i prefer the other way. Oh well.

  • Can I use a PCI-1424 with a non-standard camera and build my own camera file?

I want to test a certain CCD which in non-standard and I want to setup the direct interface with it. My idea is to use a 1424 board and build the camera file.

Technically, you can build your own cable and ICD (configuration) file for your camera. It can be very difficult, though. If the CCD is fairly standard, NI might be willing to create a basic ICD file for you which you can modify to do what you want. The best way to figure out what can be done in an ICD file is to look at ICD files for other cameras.

  • Error when export report to PDF with a none standard Windows font

    Hi,
I got this error when trying to export PDF under VS2008 with an special true type font in the code behind. The error says:
    ...temp_9550ab94-02fc-4362-b259-cc6de8d6c04b {32E546F5-C6A3-44FC-B8EF-D5E37A1118FA}.rpt:\nOperation not yet implemented.
In the crystal reort under VS2008, I use a special font which is true type and it is already installed in the system, I can see the font in many other software like Word, Notepad, etc... without any problem.
Is anyone know how to fix it? please help.
    Many thanks!!!
    Lan

    Hi Ludek,
I trid the SP, but doesn't work. I can send the font to you, it is only 50K. If you would like to try I can send it to you, but i am not sure how i can upload the font file. I guess any none Windows standard font will have same issue, i guess.
For now, i am going to give up and use image file instead.
    Thanks,
    Lan
Do you know if it is well-known issue in CR?
    - No I do not.
where i can get any SP of CR for VS2008?

I would not mind testing this, but I need to know if there is a free download of this font available. I Googled the font name, but a quick search did not come up with anything.
Alternatively, you could try CR 2008 (12.x) and see if that will do the trick for you. An Eval of CR 2008 is available here:

  • C# - How to have a collection of SPListItems each associated with a non-unique number?

    Hi there,
I need to have a collection of multiple SPListItems - each associated with a number (non-unique).
I should be able to get all SPListItems for any specific number. E.g.
    (13, SPListItem1)
    (16, SPListItem2)
    (13, SPListItem3)
    (17, SPListItem4)
    (13, SPListItem1)
Now - I should be able to get all SPListItems where number is 13 or whatever.
What will be the fast and efficient way to do this in your opinion?
    Thanks.

You could create a custom class that holds the SPListItem and the integer. Add the splistitems to a List using the type of class you created to hold the SPListItem and integer. Then use the List<T>.Sort method when you want to sort them.
Have a look at the documentation here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/b0zbh7b6(v=vs.90).aspx

  • How to build applications with a non standard stlport

    Hi,
I have a separate compiled version of stlport that I am supposed to use to build my application. In other words, I do not want to use the stlport that comes with the Sun compiler. I am aware of using -library=stlport4 when I use the default stlport that comes with the compiler.
What flags/options should I use when I have my own stlport (libstlport_sunpro.so) library?
    I am using Sun C++ 5.6 2004/07/15 on SunOS 5.8.
    Pls help.
    Thanks
    Edited by: Sreeni_dd on Jul 23, 2009 12:50 PM

Details are in the C++ Users Guide, section 12.7 "Replacing the C++ Standard Library". Here is a summary.
    1. Add the option -library=no%Cstd to disable both libCstd and STLport.
    2. Add a -I option that points to the include directory for the stlport headers you want to use. (Do NOT use the headers in the compiler installation.) Example:
CC -library=no%Cstd -I/path/to/stlport/include -I/project1 -I/project2 ... If the compiler doesn't always find the headers, put the -I stlport option at the end of the other -I options, preceded by a -I- (dash eye dash) option. Example:
CC -library=no%Cstd -I/project1 -I/project2 -I- -I/path/to/stlport/include ... This procedure is not optimal, since you would like to search STLport headers before searching other headers. use the -I- option only if needed.
If you have file name conflicts with the STLport header files, you will need to add a set of symbolic links *.SUNWCCh as described in the C++ Users Guide.
    3. For link commands, add a -L option pointing to the directory where the compiled STLport library is located. Assuming this library is called libstlport.so, also add the option -lstlport. Linking a static libstlport.a is not recommended if your program uses any shared libraries. Example:
    CC -o myprog *.o -L/path/to/stlport/lib -lstlport

  • Wireless keyboard "same" as wired keyboard shipping with G5?

We're about to buy a G5 and are considering the wireless keyboard and mouse. But we'll be swapping out the keys with a kit to create a Final Cut Pro keyboard.
    <http://www.logickeyboard.com/shop/default.asp?SetLng=2&BypassShopClosed=1>
    Two questions:
The Logic Keyboard people warn that their keys will properly swap with Apple G5 keyboards made in Malaysia -- NOT those made in China. So, where is the wireless keyboard you get when you buy a G5 made?
And, for that matter, is the wireless keyboard otherwise EXACTLY the same as the wired keyboard -- except that it's wireless? If not, what is different?
    Thanks,

  • Protecting Apache URLs ending in '/' with non-standard DirectoryIndex

I'm using Apache agent 2.2 for Acces Manager 7. My Apache version is 1.3.33. I have a DirectoryIndex line in my httpd.conf like so:
    DirectoryIndex index.cgi index.html
So when I request the URL <http://server.edu/subdir/> I should get <http://server.edu/subdir/index.cgi>.
My problem is when URLs like this are protected by Access Manager. I have an inverted notenforced_list, which contains http://server.edu/subdir*. So only stuff in subdir should be controlled by AM. I want all 3 of these URLs to give the same results:
    http://server.edu/subdir
    http://server.edu/subdir/
    http://server.edu/subdir/index.cgi
The first and third URLs work as expected; the second one (with a trailing '/') doesn't work. If I change my notenforced_list to read http://server.edu/subdir/*, then only the third (complete) URL works.
By looking at the agent logs in debug mode, it appears that AM is first looking at policy for http://server.edu/. That test passes, since that URL is part of the (inverted) notenforced_list.
Then the agent goes on to check the /subdir URL -- but it tacks on index.html:
    2006-04-20 14:06:58.144 Debug 10883:252998 PolicyAgent: get_request_url(): Returning request URL http://server.edu/subdir/index.html.
Then it goes on to say that it will enforce policy on this URL, which is correct, but it's referring to index.html, not index.cgi. I'm never prompted for authentication, I just get a browser error that says the page cannot be displayed. If I ask explicitly for http://server.edu/subdir/index.cgi, everything works as expected -- I'm redirected to the AM server and prompted to authenticate, then redirected back to the URL I originally requested.
Am I missing something here? Has anyone else tried to protect URLs ending in '/' with a non-standard name?

Here is the log extract. You can see pretty clearly that it just tacks on 'index.html' to the end of the original URL, when it gets to the 2nd phase of the policy evaluation (after checking for root-level policy). Thanks for taking a look!

  • Non-standard interfaces must be server-side before de-serializing?

Classes which implement non-standard interfaces are a problem for de-serialization? In the below code SomeInterface is the problem. If the "SomeInterface.class" is not server-side when the de-serialization starts then the de-serialization can't happen? Please look at this test code:

}If a serialized object implements an interface that is not already on the de-serializing jvm end, then serialization is not possible? Am I suppose to put the SomeInterface object on the server (somehow) before de-serializing an object that actually implements SomeInterface .
I have heard of object graphs. So, would not the implemented interfaces be part of an object's object graph? Thanks.

  • Non standard baudrate setting

    Dear All,
I'm new in java programming and using Linux as my platform. Currently I want to connect some device with a non standard baudrate. Then something happens, everytime I set the baudrate in the code when I run it, the baudrate always changing into default baudrate (9600). Is there any other way to use non standard baudrate in Java?
    Regards

Those standard baud rates don't just exist for the fun of it. Devices,
especially simple devices, use a clock crystal to derive their baud rates.
Even 'baud rate friendly clock crystals' exist for this very purpose.
If you have to deal with a device that uses a non-standard baud rate,
return it to the shop, complain and demand a 100% refund.
    kind regards,
    Jos

  • Trying to replace the Keyboard for HP Pavilion DV7-3180us. Need part number & compatible parts.

I have a HP Pavilion DV7-3180us laptop.  I have to replace the Keyboard because I have about 7 missing keys.  I have been looking for a good replacement but I want to ensure that I am getting the lowest price and the correct part.   I don't have a lot to spend on it but it looks cheaper or about the same price, to buy the whole keyboard rather than the seperate keys.  Is this keyboard compatible with other keyboards?  This would give me more options to find one in stock and a reasonable price.  Also, need a new AC Adapter charger.  I have seen it listed with 3 different watts 65w, 90w, & 120w.  Is this accurate?  I find the parts listed under my computer manufacturer number but I am skeptical that it is correct.  I have seen some reviews where people say that the keyboard replacement listed for DV7-3180us did not fit.  Anyone with any help to make this easier I would very much appreciate.  Thanks.

    Hi:
My advice is to read chapter 3 of the dv7 service manual below, and cross reference the part numbers or only buy the parts you need with the HP part numbers.

  • Help with custom page size support for non standard paper

Firstly, we appreciate any support you may be able to provide, we have already thrown considerable effort at this and it has been very time consuming and frustrating.
To support a number of business functions need to print to (non standard) continuous and mulitpart paper on a dot matrix printer. The (test) Mac is a 10.4.11 G4 laptop, the printer is an Oki Microline 520 (9 pin 80 column, IBM Proprinter, Microline or Epson FX personalities with a parallel interface) which has been networked via a HP JetDirext Ex Plus print server. That part appears to be operating correctly.
We have tried a number of drivers / printer personalities with varying levels of success:
ESP / EPSON 9-Pin Series CUPS v1.1 / Epson FX personality
ESP / OKIDATA 9-Pin Series CUPS v1.1 / Oki Microline personality
Ghostscript / epsonc / Epson Dot Matrix Foomatic PPD / Epson FX personality
Ghostscript / ibmpro / IBM ProPrinterII Foomatic PPD / IBM Proprinter personality
Ghostscript / okiibm / Oki Microline IBM compatible 9 pin Foomatic PPD / IBM Proprinter personality
There were no appropriate drivers in Gutenprint (5.2.3 version) The most successful is the okiibm / Oki Microline IBM compatible 9 pin settings, it can print A4 and honors the Printer Features Resolution settings in the print dialogue.
Q1: Should we see anything in the Printer Info / Installable Option, it is always blank ?
The issue is custom page sizes, we can manage / add Custom Pages Sizes via the Page Setup / Paper Size interface and they draw on the screen OK but they do not work at the printer (various issue at the printer such error messages, junk printing and wrong orientation):
Q2: Are we heading in the right direction or is there a better way to handle this ?
Q3: Would 10.5 solve all our problems, are the print drivers any better ?
Q4: Is this the correct way to specify custom page sizes, is this all we need to do ?
Q5: Is so how do we get the driver to respect the size, do we need another filter or something ?
Q6: Is it possible to add (by hand) custom page sizes to the ESP drivers or Foomatic PPD files so they they appear as a "standard" offering in the Page Setup / Paper Size interface ?
Sorry for the long / complicated post and thanks in advance for any advice / assistance.

Testing on 10.5.7, Tried both Oki 9-Pin Series 1.3 / Microline personality (no joy) and Epson 9-Pin Series 1.3 (this is a much better driver than 1.1) / Epson FX personality but not much joy with custom page sizes,
The Oki 9-pin Series 1.3 and the Epson 9-Pin Series 1.3 should produce the same results. The only difference in the PPDs is the printer model name.
After some testing, I find that the output is not the same despite the two PPDs being virtually identical. I did spot in the CUPS source code for the rastertoepson filter that there is some model name matching for Epson printers. Thus I can see where the output using the Oki 9-pin PPD could be different than when using the Epson 9-pin PPD.
but again once I imbedded the page size into the ppd some (but frustrating) luck. I can get it to respect the paper orientation and it prints well but I could not get the form length to work properly. At best over a print run of 7 labels it would creep up the label by about 0.1 inches / 2 mm.
Just for the fun of it, I made some additions to the Epson 9-pin 1.3 PPD. All I can say is that I could print a job to file. I have no way to know what it would look like on paper.
I did find that using a custom paper size did add some unwanted margins to the output bounding box. Putting the custom page size into the PPD seemed to get around that issue.
I added the following lines to the Epson 9-pin PPD 1.3--
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">*PageSize Label1/Label1: "<</PageSize[288 107.8]/ImagingBBox null>>setpagedevice"
    *PageRegion Label1/Label1: "<<PageSize[288 107.8]/ImagingBBox null>>setpagedevice"
    *ImageableArea Label1/Label1: "0 0 288.00 107.80"
    *PaperDimension Label1/Label1: "288.00 107.80"</pre>
This adds a paper size with the 4 inch (288pt) width and 1.5 inch (107.8pt) height. That represents the 1.4 inch label and the 0.1 inch gap between labels. I set 0pt margins except for the bottom where is set the 0.1 inch (7pt) gap as the bottom margin.
The full diff in context is--
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">loki:~ matt$ diff -u /usr/share/cups/model/epson9.ppd ~/Desktop/epson9.ppd

  • SUPER WEIRD: Keyboard's number keypads FREEZES Mac/Apps

    Hello all.
Keyboard is the new Apple flatten wired keyboard with number pad
All was well yesterday and today I discover this while using the following apps in their most order:
    Entourage
    After Effects
    Photoshop
    Other apps like Text Edit
At first I did not notice the weird oddity, in After Effects then when I start hitting the "0" key on the numeric keypad side to do a preview, nothing happens, and worse, the whole system/application freezes, have to force quit to "release" the system from freezing.
At this point, done Repair Permissions, even reset AE's preferences etc. Zap the PRam etc.
Then in the afternoon when I was in Photoshop, I was typing some numbers and decided to edit them, and use the number keys on the right, and when I start typing the first number, same thing, the app freeze and I can't even go to Finder, everything freeze. Again I have to force quit Photoshop to "release" the system
At this point, I exchange with an older white keyboard to do a test, and the same things happen.
So I can safely rule out keyboard malfunction
I think there is a Number Lock somewhere? The 'Clear' key?? Hit it a few times, but same problems.
I tried in Text Edit again, trying to enter some numbers using the number keypad and it freezes, it's like somehow changes the command and functions of the keypad, the blinking "I" cursor stays there, and hitting the number keys move the pointer one pixel in either directions.
Very weird. The numbers above the letters with the Fn keys are fine.
I seldom use the number keypad but sometimes I do... and since this is not a keyboard problem, and seems system wide... what could be the problem??
    HELP
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi Malcolm,
    Thanks a zillion, a trillion!!
I have to really confess all these years I have been using Mac and I did not know this nor I have come across this.
Yes, I have gone inside the Universal settings and turn off Mouse keys and also uncheck the box about pressing the Opt key 5 times...
I wonder how come before this, which both the above settings must have been on, that I have never turn on or trigger this before? Must have somehow "manage" to press the Opt key 5 times consecutively.
    Thanks once again! Cheers

  • Two phones ordered, only one shipped. The iPhone 6 has shipped with tracking number and charge to my card. iPhone 6 Plus has no information available, no one at CS can tell me if this is normal, if it is delayed, any info appreciated.

I placed an upgrade order for two phones, an iPhone 6 and 6plus.
I was in the Verizon shopping cart at 11:55 and checked out by 12:01 AM pacific time.
I do have my email confirmation for both phones with ship date 9/19
The iPhone 6 has shipped with tracking number and the charge to my card came through for the price of this phone.
There is no other information available - nothing on the status of the 6 Plus. Customer service doesn't know if this is normal or if my order went through, its really bad.
Any further information would be much appreciated.

I was just told by a Verizon sales rep that, when her team got in, when she checked the system at 3:03 (midnight+ 3 minutes)  all 6Plus had a back order date of October, and now its going into November even though the pre-order system was showing 9/19 - that all verizon iphone 6 plus had an instant sell out.
She had no additional information on my iPhone 6 plus, not even if there was a chance for it to ship out, when the back order date would be - no further information.
(A different rep I talked to said all iphone 6 plus pre orders had a ship date of October, all of them - I asked what Verizon is going to do when they advertised iphone 6 plus for 9/19 delivery and your telling me they never had any available - at this point he transferred me... *****)

  • Accessing websites running on non-standard ports or with self-signed ssl certs?

I've got some sites running using self-signed ssl's that also run on non-standard ports. Firefox home doesn't seem to open these pages it just sits there with the spinner loading and a blank screen...
    Anyone else noticed this?

If the ASA is using a certificate issued by a CA that is in the client's trusted root CA store, then the ASA identity certificate does not need to be imported by the client.
That's why it's generally recommend to go the route of using a well-know public CA as they are alreay included in most modern browsers and thus the client doesn't need to know how to import certificates etc.
If you are using a local CA that is not in the client's trusted root CA store to issue your ASA identity certificate or self-signing certificates on the ASA then you need to take additional steps at the client.
In the first case, you would import the root CA certificate in the trusted root CA store of the client. After that, any certificates it has issued (i.e the ASA's identity certificate) would automatically be trusted by the client.
In the second case, the ASA's identity certificate itself would have be installed on the client since it (the ASA) is essentially acting as it's own root CA. I usually install them in my client's Trusted Root CA store but I guess that's technically not required, as long as the client knows to trust that certificate.
