Keyboard strokes not "keeping up"

Hello,
My wife's iBook 1.2GHz is about 2.5 years old and has experienced few problems so far. However, she is noticing now that when she is typing, it takes awhile for the key strokes to be accepted. So for instance she will type a sentence, but it will only input on the screen after a few seconds. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried going into universal access and changing the "Acceptance Delay" which she says might have done some good, but I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions (resent parameter RAM or something like that???)
Thanks

Usually this happens when another application or task is using most of the CPU cycles. Run Activity Monitor (in /Applications/Utilities) and see if there is a process/application which is hogging the CPU.
Other possibilities are that the application needs more RAM and even possibly a very full hard drive.
How much RAM is installed in the iBook?
How much free space is on the iBook's hard drive?

With Microsoft internet explorer no problems. This problem appears only in our computers (not in the other libraries). Windows vista pro sp2. Dual core e5300, RAM2Go. Antivirus Trend Office Scan. • First Keyboard Stroke Not Working

Hi, this is an issue I believe was in play last year. When I first type on my internal keyboard the first keystroke does not appear. For example, if I am typing an email and type "and" it will appear as "nd". This behavior is apparent in all applications and not key specific. After I have typed a few letters the problem goes away. I think this problem was fixed by a software update by Apple in the past but it has resurfaced and is annoying. Would a PRAM reset or some other fix help? Any ideas? Incidentally, this problem has resurfaced for me using my MBP's internal keyboard. I normally use an external keyboard at home and the problem only resurfaced now that I am traveling on vacation without the external keyboard.

Hi, Ken. How about updating your OS to 10.4.11 and seeing whether the problem goes away?

Can you configure SapGui/WAS to keep track of keyboard strokes while it´s busy (with no user control) waiting for the application server response, and then, when control is restored to the user, send the strokes back to the app. server?

Hi, welcome to SDN!  I do not believe that this can be configured for SAPgui.

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

  • My iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. I took the batteries out of the Mac keyboard, so that is not the problem. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Thanks for your observation. I realize they are different versions, but when I use the "Software Update" menu, this is as far as it would update. Is there some way to update the iMac beyond what "Software Update" does? I've tried it several times.
    Please Note.
Upgrading OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) is not an update. It is a paid upgrade. Just as with 10.7 (Lion) you must purchase it from the App Store with yor Apple ID and install it after backing up your current computer state for safety.

Double click the home button, then swipe towards the right at the bottom of the screen . This will reveal
Four icons, the one all the way to the left toggles the screen rotation lock on or off.

In text or email, the keyboard will not come up.  I have to reset phone or turn it off to get started again.  How can i fix this issue?

    Hello Jennings Castle,
It seems your iPhone is slowing down and not responding frequently. To rectify this issue you may want to consider performing a restore on the device, and then restoring your data from a backup via iCloud or iTunes.
If the issue persists after restoring your backup, you would then want to consider restoring the device and setting it up as new. Below I have linked to article which offers guidance on both of these restore methods:

  • What should I do if my keyboard is not working after updating to new OS Mavericks update?

I have a 13" MacBook Pro that was purchased in January 2014. Recently I installed the recommended updates for OS Mavericks on my computer. I rebooted the computer as recommended and when I went to login lo and behold my keyboard will not function. None of the keys will work so I couldn't even put in my login password to even see what the problem was. Naturally I went to all the apple forums I could, to find a solution and none of them seem to work. I reset the PRAM and SMC and still cannot get the keyboard to function. While under disk utility the keyboard functions just fine. But It will not function in a regular setting. I am very upset and frustrated with Apple as the issue is a software issue with OS Mavericks and Apple has yet to acknowledge a problem, meanwhile this is the second time in less than a month that I've had major issues after downloading Mavericks updates. I hope apple can resolve this issue.

  • Is there a keyboard stroke for tagging photos in iPhoto?

I would like to learn of a keyboard stroke for tagging photos in iPhoto.  I called apple a while back and was told there is no such shortcut.  You have to manually click on "add a face."  Then, if you want to tag multiple people in one photo, you have to manually click in each tag box to name them.  When iPhoto doesn't automatically detect faces, and the tag boxes are added manually, it is not possible to tab from on tag box to another.  It's infuriating!

I'd suggest posting your question in the iPhoto forum here, as that's where the true experts hang out.  Here's a link for you:

  • My keyboard dos not pair with my i mac

I try to pair my wireless key board to my I mac

First make sure the batteries aren't dead and that the keyboard hasn't already been paired with another device. If it hasn't, the keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.
    Otherwise see these support articles:
Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later) and iMac (Late 2012): Bluetooth keyboard may not pair during Setup Assistant
Apple Wireless Keyboard: Difficulty during pairing process
If you have a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, you may need a wired keyboard to complete the pairing process. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.
