Keyword/best bet migration to 2013

Has anyone found a way to migrate/upgrade keywords in a site collection from 2010 to 2013? I have seen mention of the ability to convert the keyword/bestbet to a query rule. Thanks for any suggestions.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to migrate the best bets/keywords from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
As we all know, the best bets/keywords are changes to query rules in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to export the best bets/keywords to CSV file and then import
best bets as Query Rule in SharePoint 2013 using PowerShell.

REST API and best bets / query rules

Is there a bug in this? I can not get best bet results regardless of the query string. For example, the following (according to MSDN documentation) should process the query rules and return a best bet. But it doesnt. Am I doing something
wrong in the query? It only seems to return ordinary results. Performing the same search via Sharepoint's UI returns the best bet at the top.

Hi Scott,
With EnableQueryRules and ProcessBestBets set to true in the search rest api, we can get the promoted results(best bets) in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to type the search rest api URL in the browser directly and then check if the best bets are displayed at the top of the search results.
It will not displayed inside the table for normal results.
Please also make sure that the query text matches the query rule condition.

Migrating Best-bets and Visual Best-bets to SharePoint Online

Hello Experts,
I understood that ther is a promoted result feature in the query rules section that can be used as an equivalent of FAST best-bets and visual best-bets.
But in our FAST search 2010, we have close to 2000 of them. How is it possible to migrate them to SPO searach? Manually adding them is definitly the last option and not recommended as well.
Is there a way we can import/export or any CSOM or PS CMDLETs or any other new thing that is available that can automate this migration?

No best bet shown

I've configured some best bet - but on the search result page they are not shown, even though that I've inserted the "Search best bet" webpart... I've the standard result page, with refinement panel etc.
can someone point me to the solution for solving this?

According to your description, my understanding is that there was not result when you used best bet in SharePoint Search.
Firstly, please make sure that you have configured best bet in Search Keyword correctly. You can check it as the link:

If you configured search best bet at search center subsite. You need to enable custom scope in the parent site and fill in the appropraite link to your subsite.
In addition, Search Best Bets web part works only when it is added on the content search results page(results.aspx). This web part doesn't work when it is added on the people search results page(peopleresults.aspx).

Migrate Sharepoint 2013 from office 365 to on premise

The company management decide to move SharePoint 2013 from Office 365 to on premise. Are there any instructions or step to achieve this, or any recommended third party tools? Thanks

Best bet disapear when select site refiner

I've some best bet in my SharePoint 2010 server, it works correctly.
When i filter (with refinement panel site), my best bet disapear.

I understand that the Best Bets links disappeared when choosing refiners in Refinement web part.
Per my knowledge, the Best Bets are used to display the links that you defined at the top of the search results page when searching with the specific keyword.
However, the links defined in Best Bets are not included in the real search results when searching the keyword. If the link has something associated with the keyword, the same links will also be displayed in the real search results.
So if we choose refiners in the result page, then it will filter the real search results without the Best Bets links and the links will not be displayed in the search results.
It is by design that Best Bets links disappeared when choosing refiners in Refinement web part.

Images not displaying since Beta 2/VS 2013

My app contains dropboxes with links to some pages , these pages contain a background and an image that fill the most of the page.
My problem is : since the update of Siena beta 2/VS 2013 2 dropboxes / 3 works correctly but one leads to the pages with the correct background BUT THE IMAGES ARE INVISIBLE / NOT THERE.
I want to add that in the project siena app these pages have no problem but when i try with VS2013 i have this bug.

EDIT : i just tried with a previous version ( created with beta 1 ) and i have the same problem.

Not sure if this will help, but here are some questions that may lead to a solution?
Did you load the images into the app or are you referencing them through an Excel file for example?
Have you tried a different image to see if the original might be causing the problem?
In your third sentence you indicate that you see the problem only in VS2013. Are you trying to publish the app? If so then this post may be of help:

Best path to Lync 2013

I've been running Lync 2010 Standard with a single edge server and a single front-end server. Recently I lost two of the four drives in my edge server simultaneously, and - of course - there is no backup. I've already got a virtual server started for Lync
2013 front-end. My current question is whether I need to rebuild the Lync 2010 Edge server, or just build a Lync 2013 edge server instead and not worry about the 2010 edge server loss. I wasn't sure if the 2010 edge server was required for the migration to
2013.
It seems that I should be able to get my topology built on the Lync 2013 front-end server, then use that topology to import into the 2013 edge server, and, finally, move my users to the 2013 front-end environment. Any guidance would be appreciated before

If it was just the edge, then don't worry about the loss and don't rebuild it. Deploy a new 2013 edge and move forward. If you see the 2010 edge in the topology builder just remove it from there and there's nothing left to do if everything is associated
with the 2013 replacement.

PF migration 2007 - 2013 FailedOther

A Public folder migration 2007 -> 2013 is failing with the status detail: FailedOther
Error message: There are multiple primary SMTP addresses. Please ensure there is only one primary address for address type.
I can see the Identity as a guid, but can’t seem to identify what public folder is causing the error. Is there a way to see GUID to PF Names mapping?

Issue with migrating 'WI' using 'TFS migration tool' when trying migrate from '2013 to 2013'

Our final destination is to migrate projects from TFS-2010 to TFS-2013, for testing and familiarizing with the
migration tool we trying to migrate project within the 2013 server and between two servers of 2013,
we don't have any issues with migrating source code, we done it successfully,
but when we try to migrate 'WI' within same server and also tried to between two server we are getting two
different errors respectively when tried within server and between server, unable to migrate 'WI' in any scenario, log files attached for the same. Log file 'error-1' is the errors generated while trying migrate 'wI' within the same server and 'error-2' is
the errors generated while trying migrate 'wI' between two server, Need ur guidelines to over come these issues.

Based on your description, I'd like to know the version of TFS integration tools you're using and the error details when migrate work items. If you use TFS integration tools 2012, please make sure you have Team Explorer 2012 installed on your server machine.
Please also let us know the configuration you used for the migartion. If you migrate between different domains, make sure the domains have two-way trust relationship. If the issue persists, check the event logs to see if there any useful information and
elaborate more details about your scenario with screenshots.

Cannot migrate exchange 2013 user to another database through EMC, only powershell works?

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to migrate a few mailboxes from a database called "primary" to "archive". I can migrate a single user through powershell, however I cannot migrate users through the GUI. When the "syncing" starts, it reverts the total
from "2" to "0" and makes it appear as though I never added any users to the batch job. The job then completes "successfully"
I can see the users in the job before I hit start. Any idea why my job goes blank?

We could refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:
Restart IIS to check if the issue persist.
End up of the user job to check if the issue persist.
Create a new account to check if the issue persist.
We could check relevant application log, then we could check if EAC and EMS connect to same domain controller, then we could check sync between Exchange server and domain controller.

Migrating to 2013 from 2007 with Outlook Anywhere disabled

I'm in the middle of a migration from 2007 With Outlook anywhere disabled.
After I installed 2013 I added the external url to both inside and outside url's on CliantAccess, o-anywhere url and Virtual catalogs.
When I configured the External Access domain on the 2013 it also added this on the external url's on the 2007 server. On the 2007 server i manuelly changed the external url's to the Legacy name which is mail.domain.com. The New server is webmail.domain.com
both internally and externally. The servers real name is xxmail.domain.internal
After this, when I configure an Outlook Client With a user on the old server With autodiscover it configures it With Outlook anywhere, not mapi, but With the external name of the New server, webmail.domain.com under http Proxy settings. When I then
moved this user to the New server it stopped working in Outlook.
Is the best approch to enable Outlook anywhere on the 2007 server before migrating the users or can I og from mapi/rpc to rpc over http in 2013 without Outlook problems?

Firstly, I’d like to explain, all users in Exchange 2013 use Outlook Anywhere. The information of Exchange proxy settings tab is automatically updated by Autodiscover.
I recommend you the following troubleshooting:
1. Check the Autodiscover configuration on both Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013 servers:
Get-clientaccessserver |fl autodiscoverserviceinternaluri
2. Check if there is any DNS entry about the legacy name points to Exchange 2007 IP address.
3. Check if you can logon OWA with both Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013 server.

Is there a way to clean up the Timesheet tables in MS Project 2007 before I migrate to 2013?

I'm attempting to migrate an instance of project server 2007 over to 2013. The problem is that it failes on the convertto process when combining the 4 2010 databases into a single 2013 database.
Reading through the logs it appears to be an issues with an invalid Foreign Key in the MSP_TimesheetProjects table.
On investigation I find that the 2007 Timesheet tables in the Reporting database have a number of invalid entries. We don't use the timesheeting system in that particular instance so there should not be any entries at all. There are however a
couple to projects in the TimesheetProjects table, as well as a few tasks and timesheet lines, even though there don't appear to be any timesheets. I have run a delete on all timesheets in the system, and have rebuild the Reporting database by restoreing
custom fields, but I can't seem to shift them.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the help.

What I'd suggest would be to refresh the 2007 reporting DB. See the procedure below:
Logon to Project Web Access with Administrator credentials
Select Administrative Backup from the Database Administration secton on the Server
SettingsPage in Project Web Access
In the Items for Backup section of the Backup page,
select the checkbox for Enterprise Custom Fields and then click the Backup button and click the OK button
when prompted by the system
Select Administrative Restore from the Database Administration secton on the Server Settings Page in Project Web Access
Choose Enterprise Custom Fields from the Choose Item selector on the Restore page
Click the Restore button and then click the OK button
when prompted by the system

How best to migrate from MacPro to iMac w/ SSD and extrenal drives

Currently I have a MacPro with 4 drives - 3 1TB and 1 2Tb, the 2TB drive is my main hard drive, so it has system, apps, documents, itunes etc....and it has been upgraded and migrated from one computer to the next as long as apple has had the ability to do so (and before that by moving over targeted drive manually). I currently am running 10.6.8 on the machine. I have ordered a new iMac w/ an internal 512gb SSD drive, and after speaking with an Apple rep, I got a THunderbolt enclosure to house my current 4 hard drives. Now my question is how best to get my preferences etc into the new computer w/o dragging along all the old stuff...(ie old apps not compatible w/ Mountain Lion, old system folders, etc). Here is what I would like to do:
1. setup SSD with OS, fresh installs of Apps, and my fonts (i am a designer and i have a gazillion fonts and they always take way to long to load into my font app).
2. I would like my 2TB drive to eventually just include my home directory where all my files, and such will be stored. But I would like to keep the drive as is to make sure everything is working just in case, I dont want to have any down time during the upgrade process (ie if a client calls me and needs something while I am still setting up I could boot off the 2tb drive and work). But after all is working properly then I would like to make it just the home directory and main place for all files etc
3. My remaining 3 drives are broken up for manual backups of my work on 2 of the drives, and then photos and mp3s on one, and movies and tv shows from itunes on the other. I dont currently run Time Machine or Retrospect or RAID....
I see most people saying to create 2 admin accounts, one that would stay on the SSD drive and the other which could be mapped to the 2TB drive and have its home directory there...but what do I do about moving preferences etc? is there a way when setting up that will let me import my current account and let me keep it on the external drive as is? should i move the files that i want to keep off the 2tb drive, wipe it to get rid of the old apps and system and then put back the home directory??I don't want to run into trouble with permissions, and I really dont even want to create 2 accounts because I hate having to close everything and log out for simple installs and updates...i have 2 on my macbook pro now and i run into errors all the time of i cant update this or that because of admin account...even though both accounts are set as admin.
I want to keep the whole upgrade simple, but I would like to keep this fresh system clean as am sure there is way to much left over garbage from upgrades past. So just not sure how best to do any of it.....

I purchased the DataTale RS-M4t SMART 4-Bay Thunderbolt RAID storage enclosure. But it can do both RAID if you get their data manager software download, or it can just mount the drives and be used normally. So basically I can plug all 4 of my current drives into it...and it into my iMac and it will be same as if I had it in my tower....so really not moving over a ton of stuff. I will load all apps fresh onto the brand new iMac - so the SSD will be a clean install...my worries are trying to get access to home directories etc on the current main drive and have things get setup correctly, keychains, bookmarks, etc...as well as my iTunes which has iPad and iPhone backups, etc. I am just not sure as how to best setup the SSD to get the most of its speed while being able to get my current account working but on the second external drive.
