Keyword Text Box Gets Stuck

I was importing larger sets of images (about 200) and keywording them (mainly
names of plants). This went all very well, until I noticed that the keyword(s)
shown in the text box of the keywording panel (RH side) did not change anymore
when I clicked on images I had already done. I knew they had been given
different keywords, and I could see different words highlighted in the recent
keyword list below as I jump from image to image. Somehow the display of the
text box gets stuck after a while, and I need to exit LR and come back in.
Anybody had a similar experience?

Yes, I have seen this behavior also. When doing a lot of work jumping around between various images in the grid view, it seems to me that eventually LR gets into a state where even though visually the appearance of the grid changes to indicate what's currently selected, internally LR hasn't really changed the selection. This can actually be very dangerous. For example, I have now on 2 different occasions selected an image and punched the Delete key only to have a different image than the one highlighted in the grid actually get deleted. (The confirmation message that LR displays is no help, because it doesn't tell you the name of the image you're about to delete!) Fortunately, I was able on both occasions to rescue them out of the recycle bin and re-import. This is a very serious bug, and, like you, the only way I've found to work around it is to shutdown LR and restart it.

Bottom of text box is "stuck" to footer

I've used text boxes of different widths on a page. The latest entry was in a long narrow text box, with photos alongside (outside the box). Now, when I want to add another entry with a wider text box, I am unable to detach the bottom of the existing text box from the footer. I can't get any space below it, in order to insert a new wide text box. I was able to "roll it up" part way, eliminating some empty space, in iWeb, but it remains stuck to the top of the footer.

You have a big empty space at the bottom of your page. Is this the problem?
Your page is very long. Have you thought of increasing the width and decreasing the length?

Inline Text Boxes getting converted to inline tags on text reflow in parent

Hi,
We extract text from a text box in a Indesign CS3 document. The text box can have inline text boxes. The text of the inline boxes is extracted as well.
The text extracted from all the text frames is processed in an xml and processed. After processing, it is reflown into the boxes.
When we try to import the text in the parent text frame having inline boxes, the inline text boxes are converted to inline tags.
Can we keep the inline text boxes as it is rather than they getting converted to the inline tags.

Thanks for the reply. By recreating the boxes, do you mean to say that we draw the boxes again and place them in the main text frame as an inline box.
But the problem again is that if we attach the xml element of the parent element to the text frame, it will flow all the contents including the inline boxes which will be again convert them to inline tags.
Or is it that we flow the parent text and then look for all the inline tags and draw boxes in place of these tags. But the question here is how do we differentiate between an genuine inline tag and the one which is converted from an inline box.
Can you help in describing the solution in your mind.

The current search engine in the search box gets 'stuck' in beta 11.

I have various search engines set up to use with my search box. Since beta 11 it occasionally gets 'stuck' on a search engine if I change.
i.e. if I change from Google to IMDB, I can get stuck on IMDB and am no longer able to go back to Google (or any other engine).
Wasn't a problem in earlier betas.
Error console displays this:

Can anyone nail down some steps for reproducing this problem? I don't see it immediately after opening Firefox, but it often appears after browsing normally for a while.
A workaround for me is to open a new window (Ctrl+N). Change the search engine in this new window, then close it.
After doing that, the search bar in my original window works again.

My iphone 4 will not shift between formats, phone to email to text. Gets stuck. Why?

iPhone 4 gets stuck and won't return to home screen. Can't shift between programs from phone to email to text. I push the button to return to home screen over and over. Did get a message that I was runnning out of disc space. Could this be the problem? I purged a lot of photos that were on the camera roll but it still sticks. When I turn it off and back on, it will come up on home screen. But, I can't keep doing this everytime. What to do?

Iphone 4 camera gets stuck in horizontal mode sort of and text does get stuck. help?

So ever since i updated my iphone to the OS5 i have had some odd glitches. 1. the text message screen will stay horizontal until i restart the phone. 2. The camera seems to kind of get stuck in horizontal. The camera bar that is normally at the bottome shows up on the side but the camera acts really strange. if you turn the phone horizonta and take a photo it turns up vertical. when you move the camera around to take a photo when its like this it almost acts like if you are moving it the oppisite way that you are. its very strange and frustrating. Anyone know how to fix this and make it go away?

At some time in the past you used a program on your computer to kick the phone out of recovery mode or to hack it (e.g., tinyumbrella). This program corrupted your hosts file, preventing iTunes from contacting Apple's activation servers at gs.apple.com.
To confirm this diagnosis open a Terminal app window and type: ping gs.apple.com.
If you get something other than 17.112.176.11 this is your problem. To fix it edit the file /etc/hosts and remove any lines that contain gs.apple.com.

Text in text boxes getting cutoff after publish

We have an e-learning project with a large number of
application simulations that were built using Captivate 2.0 (build
1177). The published swf files from captivate are loaded via XML
into a flash shell we've built that serves up additional asset
types (text, graphics, video) along with the captivate movies to
make up a module. The captivate movies are the only asset being
served up when used (i.e. they are not sharing the screen with
other graphics or text).
The problem we are having, is that once a captivate movie is
published, and played via the module shell, some (not all) text
boxes are displayed with the text being cut off on the left. The
left margin settings appear to be ignored, and the text is cut off
by a couple pixels. This appears to be totally random. In the
almost 200 captivate movies we've created, we start out by
recording the application function we are training on, and then
update the captivate with refined text (using HaloYellow text
boxes), and import audio from a narrator.
When the final captivate is published, we can preview using
the _skin.swf and html file, and we cannot replicate the text box
issue, however once we play the swf through our course shell, we
can see the problem text boxes.
One way we have been able to fix this, is to go to the
problem text box in Captivate, select it, cut it out (ctrl-x) and
then paste it back in. Then we check out the newly published
version (in the course shell) and the text box appears as it
should. The problem is, there may now be other text boxes
displaying the problem text being cut off.
In my research on this issue, I did learn about setting text
margins in the .FCM files, but I am finding this is something that
must be planned for before creating the captivate, as it is not
something I can change and then hope to take effect when the movie
is next published.
If this link works, it should launch a web page with an
example of one of these problem text boxes..

Hi Sean
In addition to what jbradley88 offered, there is one other
factor that could be at play here.
Do the captions look okay on some PCs and not on others? If
so, it could point to an issue with the DPI settings for the PC. If
this is the case, you will want to perform the following steps on
the PCs where this is an issue.
* Display the Windows Desktop (Easily done by pressing the
Windows key and the D key together)
* Right-click the Windows Desktop and choose Properties from
the context menu
* Click the Settings tab
* Click the Advanced button
* Click the General tab
See the drop-down labeled DPI setting? If that is set to 120,
try setting to 96 and see if things improve.
This may not be what is at play, but I've seen it have an
impact on other display issues.

Dialog Boxes get Stuck on Photoshop CS3; ANSWER!!!

I have had this problem on both my Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 applications and could not find the answer in any online forum. After trial and error with a very helpful Adobe tech, we figured out the problem. No need for re-installations.
1. Open new file, and click save as. You should have the same flicker/glitch you have been dealing with.
2. Simultaneously press down and release the Alt and the SpaceBar.
3. Press the M button and then press any one of your arrow keys.
(This will bring back your dialog box which is off the screen and monitor).
4. Your dialog box will be huge (screen resolution size) so resize it and carry on. Once you close and re-open the application, it will remember your dialog size and you will have the problem no more.
Man what a simple answer to a huge headache!

Keyword tags text box poorly designed, crashes PSE 8

I was very interested to see that PSE 8 allows you to enter keyword tags using a text box, as other programs do, promising much faster tagging with large sets of tags. But the feature has serious bugs rendering it unusable.
After trying the keyword-tags text box for less than a minute on my large catalog with 426 tags, PSE 8 crashed.    Even with a fresh catalog and the default tag categories, it will crash after using the text box about 40 times.   (See below for a recipe.)
Another bug concerns tags with commas in them, e.g. "Truckee, CA" (I have a couple hundred such Place tags). If you type "Tru" in the text box, select the tag with the mouse, and hit enter, PSE 8 will create two new tags, Truckee and CA, in the Other category, and apply them to the photo.
A design misfeature: After you select and apply a tag with the text box, it loses the keyboard focus. So to select another tag for the same photo, you have to move your hand to the mouse and click in the text box again. Partially defeats the whole purpose.
Recipe for reproducing the bug:
1. Create a new catalog.
2. Import 50 photos.
3. Select the next photo.
4. In the keyword tag text box, type "p" and then enter.
5. Go to step 3.
On the 40th or 41st photo, my PSE 8 reliably crashes (Vista 32, 4 GB of memory).   If after step 1 you use the Keyword Tags > + > From File command to load a tag heirarchy of 210 tags (see the attached file), it will crash after just 9 photos.   And with 426 tags, it crashes after 5 photos.
Interestingly, on my Vista 64 system (unsupported by Adobe, 8 core x 2.7 GHz), PSE 8 doesn't crash, but the text box gets unusably slow very quickly. WIth 210 keyword tags in the catalog, it soon takes about 12 seconds to find a tag after you type a unique prefix.   That time gradually gets longer the more you use the text box. With 426 tags, it takes almost 20 seconds to apply a tag using the text box.
On both systems, it's clear what the nature of the bug is: Each time you use the text box, the process's memory grows by many megabytes. I believe my Vista 64 system doesn't crash (at least not immediately) because it provides 3.5 GB of memory for use by PSE 8, while Vista 32 only provides about 1.5 GB.

Is the white triangle to the left of "Keyword Tags" pointing down or pointing to the right? See this screen shot:

How can I keep acrobat from breaking apart text boxes?

I have a multipage graphic document that I am addiing text to in several stages. I just selected Add Text and entered my content into one "box" for each section I need to add but when I re-open the document the next day to continue my work, Acrobat breaks my single text box of content into multiple smaller boxes making my new edits a complete pain. Is there any way to keep this from happening? I'm running Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.06

I've been giving this some thought.
Generally, the idea of sharing design between two people by having one of them use Acrobat is a complete non-starter. And I would say use InDesign. But it does have a steep learning curve. Nevertheless, it would be the most viable way to collaborate on this project, and the most editable/maintainable for you, especially if the maps were not changing but the contact details were.
But let's look at some other alternatives. Not converting to anything else. Not graphics. Not Word. All terrible, they will leave the thing awful, or enormous, quite probably both.
If you are stuck with Acrobat I recommend a defensive approach.
1. Always keep the un-marked original.
2. Add your text.
3. If you need to edit the text, start by deleting it all.
4. If the text boxes get mixed up with the underlying graphic, give up on the page and use Replace Pages from that un-marked original; add a new caption.

Label of items get 'stuck' on the items....

Hi everybody,
I have upgraded Oracle 6i Forms to Oracle Forms 10g v10.1.2 . The peculiar matter is that in the upgraded 10g forms almost 60-70% of the labels of all items (display , text items) get stuck on the upper side of these kind of items...., altough in Forms 6i the labels were not stuck on the items......
Is there a bug or something i can do except for modifying the X position of the labels manually...?????
NOTE: In Forms Builder the gap is significant almost as it is in Forms 6i..The problem appears at runtime....

I am using Firefox. The boxes show up no matter if I sign out and sign back in or not and flash has been updated and it still occurs. I've attached an image to show you what it looks like. I've minimized my form to show that the box continues to stay in place. (My form is a lot longer than what screen capture allows me to show and there are more randomly placed text boxes further down the page.)

Rich Text Box Issue - Expand to show all Text

Hi everyone
I'm having a pretty frustrating issue with the rich text box when viewing a line item (not when editing the item, but viewing the item)
I want my rich text box to expand with the text, which I have changed in the options on InfoPath with the "Expand to show all text" scrolling option. However, in IE, the table row will expand, but the actual rich text box will not and I'll have
a scroll bar there and you cant see all of the text at one time. If I look in Chrome, then it works the way I want and I can see all of the lines of text that were entered into the rich text box.
The only solution for IE to work correctly is to change the Display settings to "Enable enhanced rich text content...". But the big issue with that is now you can no longer highlight the text (the highlight disappears right after highlighting it),
and the users will need to copy text from the text box, so it renders the "enhanced" rich text box useless for us
It's kind of a lose-lose situation that I'd love to find the solution for

I guess a better solution would be how can you highlight text from an enhanced rich text box, because changing these to "rich text box" gets rid of font colors in the pre-existing data.
The original problem was that they couldn't highlight text unless they went into edit mode

Why Does my text disappear when filling a text box?

I am trying to fill a text box a little larger than a sheet of paper (8.5x11). I have typed my statement and copied and pasted it end to end so that my text box will be filled with a repeating statement. When the text box gets about 1/5th full I get a little red plus sign in the lower right corner to indicate overflow. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. The box is only 1/5th full and should not be rendering an over flow. Even if it was an over flow the text in the box should remain visible. Hyphenation is on. Dragging the corners to resize the box is not helpful.
I have drawn many text boxes and used various size fonts and leading, nothing seems to help.

Something is definitely corrupt here. Not only does the text extend beyond the displayed bounding box, but double-clicking on the Characters line in the Appearance panel shows "No Selection," even though the bounding box still shows, and the text vanishes. Attempts to edit the text on the artboard also cause it to vanish.
When I create a new type object in your document and follow your described procedure, the result is the normal, expected behavior. Have you tried to repeat this in a new document? After restarting Illustrator? After rebooting your computer? After deleting the preferences?

How do you get rid of text boxes that get stuck on the form?

When in "View Responses" there is a text box that says "Manually Added" stuck no matter where I scroll. Its actually happened 3 times so now there are 3 "manually added" text boxes stuck on view responses - which is becoming an issue as it hinders being able to see what is actually in the responses. I have to resize the responses to get around them. Other people on my team are having the same issue. Can someone help?

Recorded an Assessment and it get stuck at text box entries

Hello,
I am using Captivate 3 and have been sucessful in recording assessments in the past. I am currently recording a tutorial on how to add pictures to a word document, resize, crop and title and comment on the picture. The tutorial has what I call a "show me" then a "try me". The demonstration (show me) works great. The assessment (try me) I am recording directoy after the demonstration includes text box entries and this is the first time one of my assessments included those and they seem to be my issue. First "interesting" thing that happened was that the text entry boxes spaned over the width of my project so I had to shrink them down to the targeted area. Once I have them in the correct area I and I run the project, everything works beautifully until I get to the text entry boxes. I am able to enter text...but that is it. I can't move forward or click anywhere else.
I am attaching screen shots...not sure it will help.
First screenshot is the first text box entry. where the words Living room need to be typed.
Second screenshot is the next slide where I thought I should be able to move down and place an X next to Paint All. BUT as you can see I shifted the text box a bit and there is no evidence of the words Living Room.
Third screenshot is where I shifted the text entry box up slightly to see only the word living is available BUT it looks like it now wants me to click next to paint all..but at the same time waiting for the word room to populate. (Gosh I hope this makes sense)
The last screen shot is showing the full text entry of Living Room and now looks like it wants me to check next to Paint All EXCEPT I can't get past the first screen shot.
Thanks in advance and much appreciation any thoughts anyone can lend in sorting this issue out.

It is not very clear on your screenshots, but it seems to me that in the first screenshot the Text Entry Box is inactive right from the start (looked at the timeline). Same for second and fourth screenshot. Only the third one seems to have an active region for the TEB. An interactive object that is set to inactive, I believe you cannot have any interactivity. Could you check?
The entry in a TEB has to be confirmed: either by a Submit button (is not there) or by a shortcut (default is Enter). What did you choose?
You spoke about TEB spread over the entire project, that could mean that in the tab Options of the Properties of this TEB, the option 'Display for entire project' was activated in the Timing. It is here that you can change the timing, and the active/inactive time period.
Perhaps this was the explanation you needed?
