Text in text boxes getting cutoff after publish

We have an e-learning project with a large number of
application simulations that were built using Captivate 2.0 (build
1177). The published swf files from captivate are loaded via XML
into a flash shell we've built that serves up additional asset
types (text, graphics, video) along with the captivate movies to
make up a module. The captivate movies are the only asset being
served up when used (i.e. they are not sharing the screen with
other graphics or text).
The problem we are having, is that once a captivate movie is
published, and played via the module shell, some (not all) text
boxes are displayed with the text being cut off on the left. The
left margin settings appear to be ignored, and the text is cut off
by a couple pixels. This appears to be totally random. In the
almost 200 captivate movies we've created, we start out by
recording the application function we are training on, and then
update the captivate with refined text (using HaloYellow text
boxes), and import audio from a narrator.
When the final captivate is published, we can preview using
the _skin.swf and html file, and we cannot replicate the text box
issue, however once we play the swf through our course shell, we
can see the problem text boxes.
One way we have been able to fix this, is to go to the
problem text box in Captivate, select it, cut it out (ctrl-x) and
then paste it back in. Then we check out the newly published
version (in the course shell) and the text box appears as it
should. The problem is, there may now be other text boxes
displaying the problem text being cut off.
In my research on this issue, I did learn about setting text
margins in the .FCM files, but I am finding this is something that
must be planned for before creating the captivate, as it is not
something I can change and then hope to take effect when the movie
is next published.
If this link works, it should launch a web page with an
example of one of these problem text boxes..

Hi Sean
In addition to what jbradley88 offered, there is one other
factor that could be at play here.
Do the captions look okay on some PCs and not on others? If
so, it could point to an issue with the DPI settings for the PC. If
this is the case, you will want to perform the following steps on
the PCs where this is an issue.
* Display the Windows Desktop (Easily done by pressing the
Windows key and the D key together)
* Right-click the Windows Desktop and choose Properties from
the context menu
* Click the Settings tab
* Click the Advanced button
* Click the General tab
See the drop-down labeled DPI setting? If that is set to 120,
try setting to 96 and see if things improve.
This may not be what is at play, but I've seen it have an
impact on other display issues.

Keyword Text Box Gets Stuck

I was importing larger sets of images (about 200) and keywording them (mainly
names of plants). This went all very well, until I noticed that the keyword(s)
shown in the text box of the keywording panel (RH side) did not change anymore
when I clicked on images I had already done. I knew they had been given
different keywords, and I could see different words highlighted in the recent
keyword list below as I jump from image to image. Somehow the display of the
text box gets stuck after a while, and I need to exit LR and come back in.

Yes, I have seen this behavior also. When doing a lot of work jumping around between various images in the grid view, it seems to me that eventually LR gets into a state where even though visually the appearance of the grid changes to indicate what's currently selected, internally LR hasn't really changed the selection. This can actually be very dangerous. For example, I have now on 2 different occasions selected an image and punched the Delete key only to have a different image than the one highlighted in the grid actually get deleted. (The confirmation message that LR displays is no help, because it doesn't tell you the name of the image you're about to delete!) Fortunately, I was able on both occasions to rescue them out of the recycle bin and re-import. This is a very serious bug, and, like you, the only way I've found to work around it is to shutdown LR and restart it.

Text gets jumbled up after publishing.

After publishing my text gets illegable. Sentences are written over each other. Mabybe my texts are too long. Some pieces are ok but at the end of the text trouble starts.

Perhaps check in iWeb that you don't have text boxes that are overlapping each other. This can be a cause. Also, if you know that you have a long piece of text to publish, just use one text box rather than a few. This makes more sense and it is less likely that any box will overlap.

Text shift after publishing

I am having a problem with my text shifting and some colors changing after I publish my website. The problem seems to be on the navigation bar toward the top of the page. It changes color to a darker shade, the text is not centered, and when you navigate through the site, the entire bar shifts up and down between pages. Here is the site:

Any suggestions as to why this might be occurring? I've tried to re-publish using the "publish all" option and I've also looked at it through various browsers and the problem seems consistent.

Are you using the default iWeb nav-bar that is created in Javascript and there for defaults to web-safe colours? I would get rid of it and create my own (it is very easy). Not only will this help with your problem but it will also improve the ability for search engine spiders to crawl your site as the links will be in HTML not javascript.

After upgrade to v26.0 - text in textarea boxes is spilling out onto the page

After upgrading to version 26.0 - I'm on windows XP, all the text in textarea boxes spills out of the box and onto the page. Text-wrapping is turned off.
It consistently happens like this: I load up a page with a textarea box that contains a lot of text in it. Textwrapping is off. At first everything looks fine. Then about 3-5 seconds later, the text spills onto the scrollbars, then another 2-3 seconds later it spills out onto the page. Sometimes in both directions, usually spills to the right.
Resizing the browser window makes no difference.
Using the scroll bars in the textarea also makes no difference.

Is it preformatted text? In that case, of course, the overflow should be hidden and not pour out of the Firefox window.
When the display goes haywire, I first suspect a graphics card driver incompatibility. Sometimes this will be triggered by a change in Firefox, while in other cases, it may result from a driver or OS update. Try disabling Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics as a workaround.
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This will take effect after you restart Firefox. Any difference?

Text getting cutoff in a varchar2

I am running Reports 6.0.8.24.0 32 bit on Oracle 9i.
I am having a problem with a large varchar2 field not staying within the layout, on the right hand side of the layout.
The text gets cutoff on the right side. On the preview it all looks ok, but on paper 1 to 4 letters are cutoff.
I have tried 4 different laser printers and an inkjet printer, but all have the same result.
I have played around with fonts and font size with limited success, but still cutting off text.
Is there a best font and font size for a varchar2 field within Oracle reports?

I have tried changing the elasticity settings and layout size, but no change with text getting cutoff.
The varchar2 receives its text from a MS word document. I have a button trigger that opens the MS word document and kicks off a macro in MS word.
The macro in MS word does a select and copy of the needed text. The trigger then closes MS word and paste into the varchar2 field.
The varchar2 is size 4000.
(I wish MS word had a character for soft returns, then this would have been fixed months ago.)

I think I have found the answer on my own.
I developed my own algorithim for when the word wrap occurs.

I added this code to the button trigger on my Oracle Form the copies in the text from MS Word.

how do you get the text box text properties dialog box to appear in Adobe Reader XI on a MAC? I know windows is Ctrl-E but can't figure out what to hit for Mac.

Right-click the toolbar and you should find it there (including the short-cut, which is probably Cmd+E).

I'm trying to use the Java Access Bridge (JAB) 2.1 to get the text in Java Applet controls. I've been able to use the sample code in AccessInfo.cpp sample that comes with JAB to get text from "text" controls in a Java Applet. To clarify, I am referring to the "role" in the AccessibleContextInfo struct being set to "text" or "combo box" or "label".
The problem is, when I use the AccessInfo.cpp sample to get text from a "combo box", the accessibleText data member comes back as FALSE, and thus any of the JAB text functions like GetAccessibleTextInfo fail to get any text information from "combo box" or "label" controls.
I've also tried GetCurrentAccessibleValueFromContext on the "combo box" and "label" controls, but the text returned is empty.
Can anyone help?

I have new information in regards to this issue. A contact from Sun did get to me in email and relayed that that "label" objects store their text in the "name" data member of the AccessibleContext structure. This was a big help.
But I'm still stuck trying to get information from "combo box" and other controls, like "push button". The contact said, the Java Access Bridge does not provide all the information because it is already implemented by other interfaces like AccessibleComponent, AccessibleAction, or AccessibleSelection. The contact did not allude to whether these opther interfaces can be used along side the Java Access Bridge or not. So, I'm left a step closer to the goal, but still stuck without the full solution.
Can one take the Java Access Bridge functions, like say those used in the Ferret sample, and close the gap to get text back from "combo box", "push button", and other controls by using some other API in conjunction?

Text moving after publishing!

After publishing my site, text moves around. I have tried creating new pages- copying over the slideshow and recreating the text, but it still jumps. Any suggestions?

1. These elements are not on the Master Page because on the "About" page, two of the menu items are actually tooltips, not links, and on the other pages, they are text links.
2. It happens in Preview as well.

Why does CC Text from various slides not show after HTML5 Publish?

I have CC Text throughout my course. When I publish from the Responsive Layout template, some CC Text does not show in various slides. Of course, when I republish, the CC Text that didn't show up reappears with other CC Text on different slides missing. Has anybody had this happen?

Thanks, Demo, I'll give that a shot. On the other hand, I really don't want to have some files in iBooks and other ones in Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader will let me organize them in folders, it might be a great solution.
However, there's no ".pdf management" involved here. It's simply "Read the #%€\#^% .pdf file I gave you" and there is nothing to "manage". Whatever opinions Apple has about Adobe, .pdf is a fact of life and should not require any handstands and backsprings just to read a file. (Are you listening, Apple?) I refinanced my home with .pdf files; print it, sign it, scan it, e-mail it back. (OK, calm down, it'll be all right... Sigh...)
Whatever the result, I'll report back.

I have spent the last two or three days trying to do what you suggested. I uninstalled Adobe 6 from Windows. Some files that CS6 placed on my system during installation remained, including fonts and .dll files.
I had to abandon the Cleaner Tool you suggested because in one screen it allowed me to specify removing CS6 only, but on the following screen it only gave on option to remove ALL Adobe programs. I could not do that because I didn't have the serial number handy for CS3 in case I want to reinstall it at some point.
I tried to get technical help with the Cleaner Tool problem but no definitive help was available, so I reinstalled CS6 again without having the benefit of the Cleaner Tool. I tried to get the serial number for CS3 so I could use the Cleaner Tool but spent 2 wasted hours in chat. Even though I had a customer number, order number, order date, place of purchase, the email address used AND 16 digits of the serial number, in two hours the agent couldn't give me the serial number. After two hours I had nothing but instructions to wait another 20 minutes for a case number.
Illustrator CS6 is still trying to open some backups as Text and otherNone of the problems have been fixed. I have tried to open/use the .ai files in CS6 installed on another system and am getting the same result, so I don't think the software was damaged by the cleaner. The hard drive cleaner is well-known and I've run it many times without any problem to previous versions of Illustrator or any other programs.
When I ordered, the sale rep promised good technical support and gave me an 800 number, but after I paid the $2000, I learned that the 800 number she gave me doesn't support CS6 and hangs up on me. Adobe doesn't call it a current product even though they just sold it to me about 3 weeks ago.
Would appreciate any help you experts can offer. If I can't solve this, the last backup I can use was from June and I will have lost HUNDREDS of hours of work and assets that I cannot replace.

Text wrap dialogue box is blank in CS3

I am not able to view the options in the text wrap dialogue box - why? I have restarted InDesign and my computer but there are no options showing in the dialogue box. I use text wrap all the time so this is a major problem for me. Thanks for your help!

Immediately after starting Indesign, hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift (Shift-Opt-Cmd-Cntrl on Mac). If you don't get a message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

Reset text in serach box

I found that:
in case search something (like "xxx") in search center homa page - and get results in results page
After clean text from the search box - and add a new text (like "yyy"), still the prvious search string exists (the querystring above has k=xxx k=yyy in it).
Is this by design?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to reset text in serach box.
By design in SharePoint, as long as the query originated from the search start page, and you have not changed it, then this will work as your query will be part of the url with ?k=query.
However, if you change your query, the url changes. If your original query was
test and the new one was sharepoint your url would look like this:
https://intranet.contoso.com/search/Pages/results.aspx?k=test#k=sharepoint
If you want to clear all filters and the search terms, then you can add what designers call a dummy link with a # to the page, and that will reset your query.

Published site - text moved, text spacing inconsistent

I am very new to Adobe Muse, so go easy on me. I created a first site using Muse. In design view, all seems to be fine. When I published the site to Business Catalyst, text included on the top of the page moved up above other text. In design view, it is fine, only when published.
Also, on one of the panels of an tabbed panels used in the site, the spacing of the text is not correct. The text appears as several paragraphs with headings that are different sizes from the content of the paragraphs. The first paragraph looks great. Paragraph two, three, and four have too much space between the lines of text. I had problems changing the font sizes of the headings, this seemed to occur after the issue with the font sizes.
Below is the design view with text in place and text spaced appropriately.
Below is the published view shwoing text with address information moved from its place in design view. It published above the company name. Also the spacing difference in the paragraphs two, three, and four on the right of the panel.
Any help to resolve will be greatly appreciated
Note: I attempted to post screen captures of the issues, but would not post with questions. Again, any help to get them onto the post would be appreciated.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I have screen captured what I reported in my post. Below are the two different captures, the first one is the published image from Business Catlyst. Note the address information is above the company name.
Below is a capture from Design view from within Muse showing the correct placement of the text. Also, please note the difference in the text spacing in the paragraphs from Design view to the published view. I have reviewed the settings, but cannot determine how to publish to the spacing is the same in parargraphs two, three, and four.
