Kingston RAM, Help?

Hi!
I recently bought another PC3200 Kingston KVR400/512R Value RAM to go alone with the other, making 1Gig of RAM. The first RAM I used by itself for about a week in DIMM1 before adding this one.  After adding this one in DIMM2, my system would boot up and would hold at the windows screen.  I went into the bios and changed both to 200Mhz, and now it works. I even tried 266Mhz but that doesn't work either.  Can't I at least go up to 333Mhz on each? I do not know much about what to set frequency at and what not...

Check this thread RAM not running at full speed? it's just a few lines down from your original. Looks like they had a simalar problem and got it sorted.

  • Kingston RAM and MacBook / MacBook Pro?

    Hello,
I am finally going to be buying my MacBook Pro C2D in the next couple of days and have a question on Kingston RAM.
I am interested in the 2.16 model and loading it up with 2GB of RAM. When I went to the Apple boutique here in Canada, I was told that if I order my computer from the Apple site with Apple RAM it will take 1 month to receive!!!! Is this true? They told me they could get the model as advertised on the site (2.16 Ghz, 1 GB RAM and 120 hard disk) and put in Kingston RAM instead.
They said that Kingston RAM is supported by Apple and will greatly cut down the wait time and I will end up having my computer in a couple of days instead of a month. Is this a sales pitch they are pulling on me? Does it really take a month for a C2D with 2 GB of RAM (in the base model)? If I use any other kind of RAM am I voiding my warranty? The price they are quoting me is not really that much cheaper than Apple's so I don't know what the big deal is unless there is something I am missing here.
I am opting to get the lower model with more RAM instead of the 2.33 model with 2 GB since I don't think I will be using the 256 video card and I can save 400$ in the process. I love the 15" screen which is my main issue for wanting a MB Pro over the MB. I know the MB would be fine for me, but not the 13" screen. I plan on keeping my system for a good 4-5 years and I think the 13" screen will not meet my needs.
Any help you could give would be MOST helpful as I need to be purchasing my MB Pro by the end of the week. I will be starting teacher's college very shortly and need to get my system as quickly as possible.
As usual these forums are a GREAT resource! Thanks much for any help you could pass on!
    Cheers,
    Mark

It will not take any longer to get if you order it from Apple. It won't void your warranty installing RAM yourself either. I ordered my MBP from Apple, got it in about a week and installed an extra 1G of Apple-certified RAM from here. It's been working fantastic.

  • Kingston ram mem solved in 3 k7n2 mobo

I already solve problems with kingston ram mem in 3 pcs, mine and 2 from friends . It seems this is for real, kingston ram mem when working on 400mhz dual have a lot of  :angryfire:overheat problems on msi k7n2 mobos, and the pchealth and other software won't tell u because it just shows the main proces and mobo/chassis temperature .
All I and this 2 friends have to do is to buy a new pc case with side cooling (direct on the ram mem) and one more back exaust fan.
    We bought this pc case:
     http://www.casemall.com.br/gabinetes/imt4000.htm
Site language it is in portuquese.
But any one with a side cooler slot (just one on the left) plus a back exaust slot will do the work
Ps.: this slots r all the same and the coolers/exaust fan too, all u need to do is change the face that u connect on the case.

  • Does adding RAM help solve iMovie4 jerky playback

I have been reading threads about jerky playback in iMovie4 in large projects, after adding music from iTunes etc. My wife has a monster project and playback during editing has became very eratic. I have emptied cache, repaired the hard drive, repaired permissions etc. I have not tossed iMovie preferences. I have 23 gigs of space on the HD and a 250gig external FW HD that I bought after she started the project on the internal HD. I would like to know from you experts: 1. Would it help to move the project to the larger external HD? 2. Would adding RAM help (currently iMac G5 1.8mhz with 768 megs RAM)? 3. Is there any way to tell if the project will export to iDVD smoothly if it continues to look terrible in iMovie playback? I hate to go through a few hours of rendering for nothing. Thanks so much for your help. I always find good and useful info in discussions.
    Mike Ryan

Michael, there are some very useful applications that I highly recommend to keep your Mac running smoothly. As a defragmenter I use Allsoft's Disk Warrior that also has a very good directory repair feature. Check out also Drive Genius that has a host of useful features. Also get iMovie file fixers, invaluable tool that is free that will allow iMovie to import certain files in audio and photo formats that are greyed out and also has other features. I believe I got mine from Mr. Lennart Thelander in previous posts here. Cache Out is an excellent application to clear out cache files. I also advise you do a regular permission repair from Disk Utility in your Utilities folder that is on your Mac. These are basically my must have applications. As for copying your iMovie project to your external, just drag your entire project folder ( the blue one with the media and star folder(s) in it directly in the external hard drive. I find that iMovie is one application that requires a clean (defragmented) drive with ample space to spare. I defrag my drives if I trash files often from them, or if I notice erratic and jerky performance or slowness in response. I hope that some of my suggestions will help your in your editing.

  • Will additional RAM help with Illustrator crashing?

I just started a new job for a company that didn't have a graphic designer so they had to buy my all new equipment. Nice right? Except when the tech guy gets me an iMac instead of what I requested: a Mac G5 with a Power PC processor. Anyways I have the iMac which is nice, but not so quick when it comes to running Adobe CS2 programs...Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop to be specific. THUS causing me major problems, cause those are the programs I need to use. I've only worked with this computer for a little over a week and Illustrator is consistently crashing when I open a file in Photoshop. This is getting slightly annoying. Will maxing out the RAM help with this problem? I figure it's the fact that Rosetta has to run in the background to run my Adobe programs which is causing the slowness and crashing. I'm used to using a G5, I had one at my previous job and it was pretty nice. AHH! Can I fix it with 2gigs of RAM or will I have to wait for Adobe to release CS3? boo.

There is being able to run, and there is waiting or not realizing the benefits CS2 + Tiger offer when working on large documents. With small files, under 4GB RAM is desirable, with large files, sometimes you want/need 8 or 12GB RAM.
And running XP on iMac for those applications while they are still not optimized - but it depends on what your time is worth. Maybe they are waiting for Mac Pro and don't want to invest in G5 (a Quad G5 isn't going to be obsolete tomorrow).
The lack of 2nd drive or external SATA or FW800 is... odd. Even a MBP can add an ExpressCard w/ 32-bit SATA or FW800.

  • Does anyone have kingston Ram

Curious I am haveing audio issues and if you look a few posts down there is my post, if someone could have a look at that thatd be great. Now since audio sync is my problem, I've read RAM may be it. But I really don't feel like take my RAM out. My pb came with 512, I upgraded and bought a 1GB stick of Kinston. Now does anyone else here have a Kingston stick in theres and have success with audio sync. I really wish I could fix this issue, its just driving me nuts.
    Nathan

Geez Nathan, it's not a big deal to remove that Kingston RAM and try again...
    Kingston has been problematic.

  • Kingston RAM

I'm planning to buy a RAM upgrade for my late 2011 MacBook Pro.
Is Kingston RAM a good choice or should i rather buy from Crucial?

go by warranty (which ever has the better warranty), rather than brand.  That is what is most important.  They are both well known name brands.

  • Kingston RAM OK rather than Apple approved?

I'm in Ottawa and I've been quoted by a shop that claims to be an Apple reseller who supplies Kingston RAM cheaper than the authorised Apple reseller. The price difference is significant.
I would be happier using the Apple authorised but am tempted by the Kingston product.
What does anyone think about inserting the Kingston RAM.
I have an ibook 933MHZ and want an extra 512 MB
    Thank you all
    Gordon

I have 1GB of Kingston RAM in my iBook. As long as they'll guarantee compatibility buy it.

  • Kingston RAM "KVR400X64C25/512"

    Hi everybody
Could you please tell me if KVR400X64C25/512 Kingston ram are ok for a MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R mainboard?
And if I bought 2x512 modules there would be problems?
Thank you very much in advance

One stick in slot 1 seems to work but using both sticks in 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 just results in a hang with dleds indicating 'early chipset initialization'.
Can I ask what slots you're running and did you have to fiddle with timings, volts etc to achieve DDR400?
According to the Manual(Chapter 2 - Page 8) for DDR400 You would want to try Slots 1 & 3 for this ram, If It's Double Sided, If It's Single Sided ram then slots 2 & 4 should get You DDR400. But since You've tried that, Then You have double sided dimms and need some single sided ram dimms, As according to the manual there is no way to run 2 double sided sticks at DDR400 in those slots, Since You would need 2 Single Sided or 1 Double Sided Dimm to run at DDR400 in either Slot 1 and/or Slot 2.

  • 4GB Kingston RAM Upgrade New MB???

I have a brand spanking new Macbook purchased directly from the Apple store, which came with 2 GB RAM, 160 SATA HD, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 processor. The user manual and apple's website says I can upgrade to 4GB of RAM (2x 2GB modules). So I order 2 - 2GB Ram chip of Kingston brand from NewEgg, for $65. Got them today, popped out the factory installed Ram Chips and seated in the new ones. Power up the macbook and I get the chime and the apple logo with the little spinning wheel, but then the screen display a black translucent box tell me that I must restart. So OK, I restart thinking that it need to update its bios with the new memory amount... on restart same thing...
So I reseated the ram at 5 times and 5 reboots and still the same problem. Put old ram back and it booted up just find and display a warning about not being able start previously, so I viewed the log and the memory dump states something about RAM Panic ????
The Kingston ram I bought is 2 modules of 2GB DDR2 PC2 5300 (667 MHz), which exactly what I was suppose to buy.
Now reading through these forums it looks like a mixed bag of user getting 3rd party ram to work or not work.
Any ideas... or could I just have bad memory.

Googood.... Thanks for your idea! One of the new chips worked with one of the old chips and one new one did not work... so it's going back for replacement.
    Thanks a bunch.

  • Please help with 4 sticks of Kingston RAM

Hello. I bought the 875P-LSR Neo board and have been having nothing but troubles with it. Maybe someone here can give me some help. I have a P4 3.2 GHZ CPU (NOT the extreme one), an ATI 9800XT video card. I bought 4 512MB sticks of  Kingston KVR400X64C25/512 which is on their approved memory list. I cannot get this board to work with 4 sticks of RAM, even when I set it to BIOS defaults. I have updated to BIOS 1.9, or whatever the lastest is. It just posts, loads XP then reboots. I don't want to overclock or anything, I just want to run at 3.2 GHZ with 2 GB of RAM. If I run two sticks in slots 1 and 3 it runs ok, but I get ALOT of program crashed in XP. I'm sure it has something to do with memory speeds or voltages, I am just letting the board config the memory, I think it is using 2.5,4,4,8 and 2.6 V. Anyone out there have any suggestions for getting this memory to work. In reading the boards I saw that this board has problems with 4 memory sticks. They shouldn't be advertising this board can handle 4 GB of RAM if that is the case. Any advice is greatly appreciated

It seems to run fine with just 2 modules, but I bought 4 for a reason!
I am now contemplating a new MOBO.  Any suggestions?

  • Will Kingston RAM kvr1333d3n9/4g work on my MBP15 early 2011?

I'm looking foward adding some extra RAM to boost my Macbook Pro 15 early 2011.
I wonder if this kingston model (kvr1333d3n9/4g) will get the job done.
If so, I'll get 2 dimms to take it to 8GB.

I would choose something from Apple or Crutial, I am not personally experienxed with Kingston, but I'm sure someone else will jump in on this and further this disscussion.
    Hope thsi helps,

  • Would ram help my overclocking?

    Hi all!
After reading a lot on the net about this two rams PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 Mhz /7-8-7-24 /1.6 V / Ripjaws-blue / F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM,G.Skill 2 x 2GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 Mhz /9-9-9-24 / 1.5V /Ripjaws-red / F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL I'm now asking if this rams would help me reach my goal O.C. of 3.8ghz,currently I'm stable at 3.59ghz with only my kingston value ram 1333mhz... Which of the two rams would help me gain an extra 200mhz? I'm thinking of getting the red ripjaws because its much cheaper than the blue but it's only c9 compared to the blue c7... I'm asking for advice on which ram should i buy

If you did a search on this forum you would probably find the majority of reports regarding usage of Ripjaws being negative. They have proven to be more trouble than its worth. I myself and Henry and others for that matter have been using these with great success on the H55 platform, Crucial 2X2gb CT2KIT25664BA1339. Mine are currently running at 1550 at 1,49V 8.8.8.20. They are probably the most underrated modules available and will clock with success to 1600, and that at 1,5V instead of 1,65V as is neeeded for your considered modules. You will find that those are overvolted and overclocked 1333 modules at best.
Thats my advice, but you will no doubt receive further feedback on this matter, that may include differing viewpoints. It all depends on the personal experience with mem modules that the respondend has had it the past. Certain Corsair modules also come highly recommended, but HU16E can share his experience with those.
    EDIT: Quote
Crucial rams are hard to find locally in my place...
Well they are not freely avialable at all where I am and I actually got mine through family from the UK. But it was worth the wait and hassle.
I also suggest you read the following thread on this forum. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=130042.0

  • 845GE Max L and Kingston RAM problems

I'm building a system using an MSI 845GE Max L mobo, P4 2.4 and a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2700  DDR ValueRAM.  When I turned the computer on the first time, it started, then immediately turned off, and then came on again.  When I tried to install WinXP, it always stopped at some point with a BSOD complaining about problems with the NTFS Master File Table.  Yet the hard drive and NTFS setup checked out OK and did all hardware, connections, etc.  I switched to another power supply and removed/disconnected everything except the bare essentials.  Still the same problems.  Finally, the system started freezing after turning off and then back on.  I couldn't even get into the CMOS.
When I pulled out the RAM stick and substituted a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2100, everything proceeded perfectly.  Does anybody know of any problems the 845GE Max has had with Kingston PC2700 ValueRAM?  I guess it could be sick RAM, but I somehow recall hearing past complaints about Kingston ValueRAM and some MSI boards.
    Thanks for any help!
    Larc

Thanks for the suggestion, but that unfortunately doesn't work.  When I put the culprit RAM module in and upped DDR voltage to 2.6, boot failed.  MemTest wouldn't start and I had no video.
When I ran MemTest with the bad RAM in place last night, I stupidly allowed the system to boot into XP after the test finished.  WinXP was trashed!  The system wouldn't boot into Win even after I put in good RAM.  Thank goodness it was a new installation and nothing had been installed except XP.
It looks as if I not only got a bad stick of RAM, but a vicious one at that!
    Thanks again for your help.
