KM2M serial port not working in Linux

I noticed a few Linux postings so I thought I'd give this a shot. I'm running Fedora Core and for some strange reason I can't seem to send any communications out to the ttyS0 (COM 1) or ttyS1 (COM 2) ports.
Does anyone have any suggestions on making it work?
Thank you.

No, your code had no termination characters at all - automatic or not. The enable termination character for the VISA Configure Serial Port is only for reads. Just like the help explains.
And while you should check the download page for updates, LabVIEW comes with the 34401 driver.

  • Tecra A11 - Serial port not working

    I have a Tecra A11 running windows 7 professional (32 bit).
    My serial port does not appear to be operating as I am no longer able to connect to industrial automation PLC's which require connection to the serial port for programming.
    Some of the software I am using is RSLinx, Easysoft and the like.
    Any assistance with this matter will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello
    I assume you need the notebook at your company and normally in every company there is a local IT-Support that you can ask all questions if you have any problems.
    So I would recommend contacting an administrator. Usually the guys know how to connect the computers to all important industrial components/computers and how to configure the port for that.

  • Serial ports not appearing in MAX - VISA installed.

    Hi All,
    Had a rather strange issue today that I couldn't resolve with serial ports not appearing in MAX (and hence being inaccessible to LabVIEW). Under the windows device manager it shows 4 COM ports and I have verified with an external program that they are functioning correctly.
    I had the LabVIEW 2011 SP1 f2 runtime installed, DAQmx 9.6.1 and NI-VISA 5.3 (5.2 also didn't work).
    Things I have tried:
    - Updating VISA from 5.2 to 5.3
    - Reinstalling the COM port devices under device manager
    - Changing the COM port numbers
    - Verifying that the COM ports are functioning correctly
    - Tried adding a USB to Serial converter as a new COM port
    - Reinstalling MAX
    - Reinstalling NI-VISA
    - Reinstalling everything (reboot each time when prompted)
    - Resetting the hardware configuration from within MAX
    - Run installers / MAX as administrator (this is running from the local admin account)
    - Checked that NI-VISA appears under software in MAX
    - Repaired MAX/NI-VISA
    Is there anything else that could cause the COM ports not to appear in MAX when they appear (and work correctly) in device manager when a reinstall of NI VISA / MAX won't solve?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I found the solution - it turns out that the serial ports were available to LabVIEW, they just didn't show up in MAX because installing just the runtime does not show the devices in MAX.
    Despite doing a lot of googling earlier, it didn't throw up this knowledgebase article until I searched for it under a different phrase - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/766FD80DAE42E52886256A0200619CFE?OpenDocument

  • KeyListener not working in Linux

    Hello guys, I'm having a weird problem I was hoping I could get resolved.
    I finished a Pong applet for my Java class, and it works just fine under Windows and on my Mac.
    But when I run it under Linux, the Applet doesn't work correctly.
    The applet draws, and my timer works, but my KeyListener does not work.
    I believe all of my Java files are updated properly.
    But I do not understand why KeyListener does not work under Linux, but it does in Windows.
    I then made a very basic applet just to test my KeyListener, and it still does not work.
    This is how I was taught to do KeyListeners, but if I'm doing something wrong, please help me out!
    here is the basic program code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Test extends JApplet implements KeyListener
    int x = 0;
    int y = 250;
    public void init()
    addKeyListener(this);
    public void paint(Graphics g)
    g.setColor(Color.white);
    g.fillRect(0,0,500,500);
    g.setColor(Color.black);
    g.fillRect(x,y,50,50);
    public void keyPressed(KeyEvent event)
    int keyCode = event.getKeyCode();
    if(keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_RIGHT)
    x += 10;
    public void keyReleased(KeyEvent event)
    public void keyTyped(KeyEvent event)

    What if don't use a KeyListener but instead use key binding? For instance,
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    @SuppressWarnings("serial")
    public class Test2 extends JPanel {
      private static final int DELTA_X = 10;

        setBackground(Color.white);
        setPreferredSize(MAIN_SIZE);
        InputMap inMap = getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW);
        ActionMap actMap = getActionMap();
        for (Arrows arrow : Arrows.values()) {
          inMap.put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(arrow.getKeyCode(), 0), arrow);
          actMap.put(arrow, new MyAction(arrow));
      private class MyAction extends AbstractAction {
        private Arrows arrow;
        public MyAction(Arrows arrow) {
          this.arrow = arrow;
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {

  • Why my RMI is not Working in Linux???

    Hiii how ru?
    I am Rahul here
    Well I have a problem that my RMI in not working on Linux.. so can u tell me the solution to my problem???
    When i am typing following command i am getting exception as RmiNotBoundException
    java -Djava.security.policy=my.policy ChaClient&
    however my Server is Starting normally but client is not connection to server.
    so please tell me the solution to this problem
    U can contact me at
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    Thank u Very much...

    i ran into the same issue dealing with RMI and Linux. My issue was the the stub that linux was giving you gave in the host field the ip number of "127.0.0.1" which tried to make the client connect to itself. this is how i got around it:
    java -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=<ip that other clients will connect to>
    so, for instance, if on a client you connect to the server with an IP of 10.5.0.1, then when starting up the java vm, you start it
    java -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=10.5.0.1
    hopefully that helps

  • Wireless not working in linux, but works fine in windows vista

    Hello!
    I have installed Unbreakable Enterprise Linux 4 in a dual boot config. with Window Vista on a Compaq Presario laptop. After install completed I found that my on board Broadcom Wireless Adapter (Dell 1390 Mini PC card) was not recognized. I have tried installing NDISwrapper versions 1.48 and later 1.47 (after uninstalling 1.48) because everytime I got to the "modprobe ndiswrapper" received a fatal error about an unknown symbol or parameter, and on install I also encountered a "CONFIG_4KSTACKS" error as well. The good part is the light on my laptop for the wireless adapter finally came on and the driver (bcmwl5.inf) appears to be installed and the wireless adapter identified as being present, but it still doesn't show up in the network manager gui interface. So I am out of ideas if any one can give me a suggestion for a solution I would appreciate it.

  • Why is  my serial number not working, it says it is invalid.  I have checked and it is correct

    why is  my serial number not working, it says it is invalid.  I have checked and it is correct

    The most likely explanation is that you downloaded the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom instead of the standalone version of Lightroom (which you can download from here).
    If that doesn't work, you'd need to provide a lot more details, including version of Lightroom, operating system, and exactly what you are doing that doesn't work.

  • JCombox does not work under linux (fedora) could you help me???

    Hi All,
    I am implementing a GUI for a linux application. This GUI works fine under windows system. But the JCombobox does not work under Linux system. Would you help me to solve it? Thank you very much!..
    The problem is that I cannot select any other item except the first item in the dropdown box of JCombobox. There is no event generated when I click the combobox, while events are generated for other Buttons.

    I think your problem was too many unnecessary Panels and set all attributes before it is added, perhaps,
    not add the panel first and then try to set attributes like layout, color, etc...

    Elton Adobe which web browser are you utilizing?  Are you signed into http://www.adobe.com/ when you attempt to contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.
    I would recommend utilizing a different web browser and contacting our support team directly as suggested by KGlad in message #6.

    Hi,
    What about if you try to install drivers from your product's page?
    http://uk.msi.com/support/mb/Z97-GAMING-5.html#down-driver
    And when exactly it starts to fail to work? Did you try to have OS just installed, restart it and see if it works then? Are you able to determine which driver installation causes USBs to stop working?
    thank you
    i just remove USB3 controller driver and work
    thank you all :D

  • Touchsmart TX-2 fingerprint scanner and USB ports not working

    Hi everyone,
    Please forgive me if this is in the wrong spot.
    Just sent my laptop (Touchsmart TX-2 1015au) off for a warranty fix - told them the USB ports weren't working on Windows 7, 64 bit. It came back wiped, running on Vista 32 bit and.....with the USB ports not working.
    I figured I'd try to get it working because I need my laptop for uni and can't send it back right now. So I clean installed Windows 7, 64 bit again and its still not working. Did the standard open device manager and uninstall everything under the usb tab. All that has resulted in is causing the fingerprint scanner to stop working (being told that it is not connected) and still no working USB ports.
    All advice really welcome and very much appreciated!
    Thanks in advance

    Hi:
    Should be no problem to get W7 32 bit to work on that model.
    Just use all of the drivers and software from the HP Probook 450 G0 on your model except the Audio, BIOS and firmware files.
    Your model uses the Intel HD graphics driver only.
    The first driver you have to install is the Intel chipset installation utility and then reboot.

    Audio:  Accept the agreement.  Download and install the first driver on the list.

    If for some reason, the Intel HD graphics driver from that model does not work, then use this one...
