L75-B7270; Pre-installed 8.1 not recognizing 2nd monitor

Laptop:  L75-B7270
OS:  Windows 8.1 (pre-installed)
I am trying to use my TV as a second monitor using an HDMI cord.  No matter what I do, my laptop does not recognize the 2nd monitor.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the display drivers so many times, rebooted, etc and it still not not recognize it.
Can someone please help me before I hurl this laptop out the window.
Thanks!

Right-click on the Desktop and select "Screen Resolution" while the TV is connected. Does the Screen Resolution window show a second monitor?

  • Imac not recognizing 2nd monitor

    On cold startup,  why do I always need to unplug and replug thunderbolt mini display to vga adapter for imac to see second monitor ?
    Once I do this, the 2nd monitor is recognized.  If I restart, 2nd monitor is recognized.
    thanks.. I am worried that the port will be compromised with all the unplug/replugs.
    Btw... the "detect displays" function doesn't resolve this issue.
    thanks for any help!

    Hi John,
    I really have no idea, but as a test, hold alt key at cold startup, let it set on that screen for maybe a minute or two, then click the startup volume or hit enter... any change?
    Also, if you log out & back in does it show up?

  • Laptop not recognizing 2nd monitor U410

    Ever since my windows 8.1 upgrade (?) My laptop has not recognised any external monitor through my HDMI port.
    Upon drive installation it will work but after a reboot i am in the same position again and have to re-install the graphics driver.
    my ideapad is U410.
    It Worked fine (with regard to graphics) at Windows 8.0 problems started after upgrade to 8.1
    My connector on the Idea pad is HDMI whilst the connector on the monitor is DVI (i have tried two different cables both give the same result.
    If anyone has any advice i would greatly appreciate it.

    So, I need to you to try a couple of things first before we figure out the actual problem.
    1. Connect the cable to your second display and navigate to Control Panel.
    2. Click on Display and Then on Change Display Settings.
    Q - Do you see your laptop display and the external display listed there?
    If Yes, then select the external display, set the resolution and Click Ok.
    (Whether you want to duplicate displays or use either one is up to you)
    You can also click Identify to verify that both displays are being identified correctly.
    If No, then click on Detect (if its enabled) and see if the other monitor shows up.
    Let me know if anything works. We can further investigate your issue.
    Also, Are you saying that your graphics drivers get Uninstalled (or corrupted), everytime you reboot?
    How about your other drivers, such as audio, peripherals?

  • SQL Svr 2012 / SharePoint 2013 "Install-SPRSService is not recognized..."

    Greetings --
    I'm having a heck of a time trying to get Reporting Services integrated with SharePoint 2013.  The end result is that no matter what I try, I keep getting the "The term 'Install-SPRSService' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet" error
    which thereby prevents me from finalizing the integration with SP 2013.
    Following is a description of my lab + the steps I've followed to try to resolve:
    In a virtual environment with 3 machines, I have one set as the Domain Controller, one with SQL Server 2012 installed (no reporting services), one with SharePoint Server 2013.
    The domain is working fine... no problems there.  SQL Server 2012 is working fine... I can connect to it locally and remotely, execute commands, etc.
    On the SharePoint 2013 machine, I have tried two ways... 1) install SharePoint 2013 first, then install SQL Server requirements... 2) install SQL Server requirements first, then SharePoint 2013.
    In both methods, I am installing both "Reporting Services - SharePoint" and "Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products" on the same machine as SharePoint Server 2013.
    My understanding was that when SP is installed first, the SQL Server installation should auto-register the necessary components (meaning running Install-SPRSService and ServiceProxy are not required). However, in this scenario, this doesn't appear to
    have happened.  The service does not appear at all within SharePoint.  Attempting to run "Install-SPRSService" fails with the "not recognized" error.
    In the second scenario (Installing SQL Server components first, then SharePoint second), it is my understanding that the "Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSServiceProxy" must be run manually. With both SQL Server components and SharePoint 2013
    successfully installed, running "Install-SPRSService" fails with the "not recognized" error.
    I would also like to point out that I am executing the Install command from the "SharePoint 2013 Mangement Shell" (right clicking and running as Administrator).
    Any suggestions or nuggets-of-wisdom would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Hi,
    I had the same issue when installing SSRS in SharePoint integrated mode. I had SharePoint management Shell opened, installed SQL binaries and then tried to run command Install-SPRSService
    and Install-SPRSServiceProxy. I got the same errors.
    But then I thought, if assemblies for SharePoint are loaded when Management Shell is opened, the assemblies were not
    there when I opened PowerShell. So I just closed Management Shell, opened it again and everything worked as expected.
    Hope it helps

  • Pre-rec'd CD not recognized

    I just got my Nano. While I was charging it, I had no problem having a CD recognized. Now, I'm on and have my iTunes account set-up, and I am all kinds of CD problems.
    An audio CD is not recognized when I want to import. I think I have all Windows updates; I followed directions from Help t re-open iTunes, etc.
    Another CD problem with burning CDs. the app tells me that the CD-R is not blank, even though is just out of the plastic wrap.

    Yes - sorry I forgot to answer that.
    When I manually try the GET CD TRACK NAMES the CDDB window briefly opens and seems to run properly. But nothing changes on the track list or cd name.
    Also I am not getting any CD's visible at all anymore in itunes. I have to use RealPlayer to save a CD to my library then drag the folder to itunes to have it recognize it.
    Weird!!

  • SCCM 2012: install individual patch, not visible in monitoring

    Hi,
    I was deploying a single Windows patch via SCCM 2012. Now this seems to work fine (I can see the deployment status) BUT I cannot see it in monitoring.
    When I add the patch to a "Software Update Groups", I CAN see it in monitoring.
    My question: what's the logic behind this? Why would I use an individual deployment if there is no monitoring built in. I'd need to know the KB then look into the software updates, select it and select the deployment status. Then also nobody sees that this
    deployment exists since it doesn't appear anywhere else.
    In other words fully useless(?)
    Please advise.

    Hi,
    You can follow up a single update using a report or the Software Updates view on required/installed column but not under montioring,.

  • Pavilion Slimline 400-034 Windows 8 not detecting 2nd Monitor

    Hello, I have a Windows HP computer, and I recently bought a 2nd monitor for my birthday, link click here. I have the same monitor for my first, and that works perfectly fine, when I bought the 2nd monitor, I realized I have a different port, and it's not a DVI-I, it's a DVI-D. So I bought a VGA to DVI-D connector, so I plugged my VGA into the connector and then plug the DVI-D into the tower. I turned on my computer, and the 2nd monitor wasn't detected, the DVI-D connected one, but the first one was. The monitor was set into mode auto, so it detected any working inputs, DVI, VGA, HDMI, and another. The 2nd monitor works thought while into the DVI-I port, but neither work in the DVI-D port. Any help (: ??

    Here are the specs for you HP Pavilion Slimline 400-034 Desktop Computer and here is the user guide for your Insignia™ - 24" LED HD "NS-24EM51A14" Monitors. Based on the specs of your computer, it has one DVI-D (digital only) output and one DVI-I (digital and analog) output as shown below;
    #3 - DVI-D (digital only)                     #4 - DVI-I (digital and analog)
    According the user guide for your Insignia monitors... VGA, DVI-D, and HMDI inputs are available. Using a passive DVI-to-VGA adapter will work on the DVI-I port because it supplies both digital and analog signals. Using a passive DVI-to-VGA adapter will NOT work on the DVI-D port because it only supplies digital signals. Please remove both DVI-to-VGA adapters and VGA cables and replace them both with DVI-D cables. You can purchase these cables online and at most local retail store such as Fry's, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Radio Shack, Staples, Newegg, Office Depot, etc. Once you have purchased two DVI-D cables, please connect your hardware as follows;
    Computer ---> DVI-D cable ---> Monitor #1
    Computer ---> DVI-D cable ---> Monitor #2

  • Trouble installing WinXP - keyboard not recognized?

    I'm trying to install XP on my iMac. I have partitioned the hard drive with Boot Camp and then I start to install Windows. It seems to be working but when it gets to the screen where it asks me to select the partition I want to install Windows on, I cannnot select anything. Pressing the Up and Down arrows does nothing. The entire keyboard seems not to be recognized, as pressing any keys has no effect. I have to turn off the iMac with the power switch and restart.
    Could it be that XP doesn't recognize the Apple keyboard that came with the iMac? It's a 20", 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.

    You don't say if the Apple keyboard is wired or bluetooth. A bluetooth keyboard doesn't work at this stage of the installation because the bluetooth driver is not installed. You would need a wired keyboard (and mouse?).
    2nd problem. What size is your partition? If it is under 32GB, Windows will happily install to a FAT32 partition. Boot Camp creates a FAT32 partition of any size that you set it at. I don't know why XP does not give you the option to format NTFS but that's normal. All is not lost. Later, after the installation is completed, XP has an option for you to switch to NTFS in the Manage This Computer area.
    To avoid WinXP automatically starting to install to the FAT32 partition, remove the Boot Camp partition and create a new one that is larger than 32GB. It will still be FAT32 but XP won't install until it demands an NTFS formatting.

  • My installed iWork '09 not recognized by Mac App Store

    I'm hoping to receive the free iWork upgrade. I have iWork '09 installed from DVD's. The Mac App store does not recognize them. Is there a fix?

    Posted this in another thread but think this may be helpfull:
    After hours of searching and testing many solutions people said to work for them to update (but didn't work for me), I managed to get all iWork apps in the app store and to update for free with these steps:
    1. Install iWork'09 from CD/DVD if you don't have iWork installed
    2. Update iWork'09 to version 9.3 manually (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563)
    3. Change your system language to english in system preferences -> languages
    4. Reboot and log in to guest account
    5. Open the Mac App Store and log in
    6. At this point you should be able to update directly from the featured page (or the app pages)
    7. Install all updates, reboot and log in to your normal user account and change the language back to whatever you like
    Your iWork apps should show in the list of your buyed apps
    Hope this helps

    Could anyone help me with this issue? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Susie, first of all thanks for the response.
    Yes, i select VM agent when installing the VM and i've previously installed VM agent in the OS, this is its version:
    [root@localhost ~]# waagent -version
    WALinuxAgent-2.0.11 running on redhat
    And the virtual NIC configuration as follows:
    [root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
    DHCP_HOSTNAME=localhost.localdomain
    DEVICE=eth0
    ONBOOT=yes
    BOOTPROTO=dhcp
    TYPE=Ethernet
    USERCTL=no
    PEERDNS=yes
    IPV6INIT=no
    About RDP, i'm migrating a RHEL VM from vmWare vCenter 5.0.0
