Label Printing with ZPLII

Hello All,
We are trying to print labels with Zebra printers using ZPL II programming.
The prints are ok for english characters but it does not print the characters belonging to European characters.
We changed the device type to support special characters. But we are not sure if the new device type will support that.
Please suggest your thoughts on this.
thanks
Seema

Hi Seema,
if you use sapscript, I guess you use the method described in SAP Note 179534 where you create the label in the third party BAR-ONE program and upload it to the sapscript form in the SAP system. In this case, device type like LB_ZEB is used which just passes the print data with the embedded ZPL-II commands to the printer without changing anything.
I'm not sure which languaegs you are trying to print. Usually, it is necessary to copy the device type e.g. ZLB_ZEB and change the character set of the device type to a character set, which supports the required language. The current character se for device type LB_ZEB is 1162.

  • Issues with Crystal 2008 Printing to a Zebra Label Printer with SP2

    Hi there
We are having issues printing to a Zebra Label Printer using Crystal 2008 SP2.
When you attached a .rpt file to the .NET Application which is accessed via RDP/ICA the reports in Crystal XI worked fine.
    Steps we have taken are:
Printing direct from Crystal 2008 Designer to the Zebra Printer works using a Generic Text Driver
Printing direct from Crystal 2008 Designer to the Zebra Printer using a Zebra Universal Print Driver DOES NOT work (we were advised the Universal Print Driver may assist with the issue)
The report when accessed via the .NET Application via RDP/ICA using the Universal Print Driver it doesn't work.
The report when accessed via the .NET Application via RDP/ICA using the Generic Print Driver it doesn't work.
The report when accessed via the .NET Application drectly from Server Console prints fine using Generic Print Driver, but not with RDP/ICA.
Can anyone offer any suggestions to a fix?
    Many thanks.

    Hello,
I'll look at this tomorrow when I get into the office. An I am moving this to the developer forum.

  • UPS label printing with Safari....getting MIME error

I tried printing labels on the UPS website and received a plug-in MIME error. Can anyone please help me out on this? I contacted UPS and have added the reply below. I am literally PC iliterate so pls explain in simple terms.
    Thanks
"Thank you for your inquiry. UPS.com currently supports Safari version
1.2. If you have a later or earlier version it may not function with the
website. However, because you browser is specifically mentioning a MIME
plug-in, you may just need to perform some upgrades to your browser. If
you do not receive a direct link to the MIME plug-in when it posts the
error, you may need to go to Safari's homepage to perform the necessary
upgrades to make your browser functional.
Please contact us if you need any additional assistance.

Well, they say they are supporting Safari 1.2 which you don't have. Safari 1.2 is an outdated version. What does the error message say exactly?

  • Zebra label printing with Smartforms

    Hi
I am currently using smartforms to print to Zebra printers. the fields are printing on Portrait format, i am not able to get them to print Landscape. I used the documented Command Node in Smartforms -
    Attribute Name: S_LZPL_SETUP
    Attribute Value: '^FWR'
this is still not working for me...am i doing something wrong in this Command line?
Documentation says i can only use Portrait in smartforms because Zebras doesn't understand Landscape...documentation offers the above workaround, but it doesnt seem to work for me...has it work for any of you?

    Hello again,
currently i have some smartforms printing to zebra printers, and i did it, using BARONE for ZPL generation.
it's exactly the same thing, you create a main window, and in the text editor toy click "TxtEditor" just above the "Check" buttonm and you pass to the sapscript tradicional editor. In there copy adn paste the ZPL code.
Define the parameters in the "Form interface" and i'ts done.
this way you will be able to resolve your problem, it's up to you to use (or not) the barone for Smartforms.

  • Problem printing horizontal text in smartform with zebra Z6M label printer

    hello,
    The situation is this:
There is a Z smartform wich prints a label to a zebra Z6M label printer with the text and barcodes vertically.
The form have a command in the main windows with the parameter: S_LZPL_SETUP     '^FWR'
This label works fine, but the client want to change the form, they have told me to create a new smartform and print the info horizontally, using the same printer.
The tests i have done are the following:
create a smartform from ground and write a template text and a barcode with a new font of system barcodes. the bardoce is shown ok(it is shown horizontally), the problem is that the template text is shown vertically, as in the original smartform.
then i tried on another zebra ZM600 label printer, similar model, but not the same, and the smartform printed was ok (text and barcodes shown horizontally). So i think is a configuration setting problem, but i dont know where to search.
i have checked the label printer parameters in SPAD, but didnt find anything souspicios.
    have you any idea?
    thanks in advance.

See these if they be of any help.....
    BARCODE:
    goto smartform styles-> create a style-->
    create a character format.
under standard settings give the bar code name
use this style in ur smartform. select the data field which u want to barcode print and assign the character format
    Similarly
    SAPSCRIPT
open the form and click the character format button and
    repeat the step as above....

Go to Character formate in your form.
create a new char formate with enable BAR code AND
you can give its type too.
To Create a Bar code prefix:
    1) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save
    2) Now when you go to SE73 if you enter SBP00 for you device it will add the newly created Prefix
Create a character format C1.Assign a barcode to the character format.Check the check box for the barcode.
The place where you are using the field value use like this
    <C1> &itab-field& </C1>.
You will get the field value in the form of barcode.
Which barcode printer are you using ? Can you download this file and see.
    http://www.servopack.de/Files/HB/ZPLcommands.pdf.
It will give an idea about barcode commands.

    Detailed information about SAP Barcodes
A barcode solution consists of the following:
    a barcode printer
    a barcode reader
    a mobile data collection application/program
A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
    in machine readable format.
There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.
    Creating Bar code:
) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save

  • Script that puts metadata on a label to be printed with a Dymo LabelWriter

    Hi,
I’ve put together an Applescript that pulls some metadata from one or several pictures selected in Aperture and prints it on a Dymo LabelWriter. The idea is that you then can stick this printed label on the back of prints you make from photos stored in Aperture.
Anyone who is interested to use this, and tweak it to his or her liking can download it from my blog:

    Ceffe,
I am so pleased your posted this. I followed your easy instructions and "boom" a label printed with the metadata as setup. Fantastic apart from the fact i don't have the label size you have designed. How can i change this ?
Can i copy/paste the fields within the dymo software or is there any special tagging scheme going on under the hood ?
Again many thanks for such a great nifty wee stoatir of a script.

  • Using a Zebra LP-2844 Printer with Paypal/eBay?

As we are trying to streamline our online business, we purchased a label printer with thermal cabiblities to save on ink. Little did we know that it would be a gigantic nightmare. Our first expeirence was with a Brother printer, which turned out to be not compatible with eBay. Decided with the Zebra after reading some great reviews, and it turns out it isn't natively supported by Zebra either.  However, I have read of people that are using it successfully.
To install it, I just plugged it in and used the Native Zebra EPL2 drivers that are included with Mavericks OS.
However, now that I'm trying to actually print something with Paypal, I can't get the labels to print correctly. It won't all fit on one label, even if I change the setting to equal the label size of 4 x 6.
I did some research about CUPS, but am unsure if I'm supposed to use it to install ADDITIONAL drivers, or if it's just a way to tweak settings that aren't available in system preferences. I changed the default setting to 4 x 6 within CUPS, but it still doesn't fit on the labels in Paypal.
I've spent days now trying to get printing set up more efficently, and cannot figure this out. It is a huge nightmare.
Any suggestions (is there ANY native supported thermal printer that works with eBay paypal?), should I use Endicia, is that a better option? Should I try installing additional drivers, if so from where? I'm just stumped at this point and in a little over my head.

You might have to partition your drive on your MAC and add Windows OS as a second operating system, then add Google Chrome to Windows. I beleive you have to reboot to go between the two OS's.

  • Custom Label Printing - Print position creeps up and across labels

    Hello
I am using VS 2010 and have updated to SP4 for Crystal Reports
I used the custom size option to make a label report. The built in options for label sheets do not match the labels that I have
I made a label report for 3 columns and 8 rows using the label size, margin widths top and bottom, left and right, with the 2 widths between the columns. But this does not print correctly on the labels. The printing on the label rows creep up so by the time you reach the 8th row the label is partly on the 7th Row. The left hand column prints correctly. the middle column prints closer to the left edge of the label than in the first column and the third column is printing on the gap between the 2nd and 3rd column.
I tried making a new report and set the dimensions to the maximum sizes that would allow 24 labels (3 columns and 8 rows) but the same problem occurs as when having set the correct sizes
I am not sure if there is a method to edit the label sizes, and margin widths as happens when creating a new report or if the only option is to create a new report.
Any assistance or information on how to make the labels print with the correct row and column spacing would be appreciated.
My Labels are 67mm x 36mm. there is no space betwwen the rows, the margin at the top and bottom of the sheet are the same, and the left and right margins are the same. The space between the columns is 2mm

Thank you for the reply Rob
There is no Avery template in the list that has 24 labels, which is why I was using the Custom Label
I have tried many variations trying different widths and gaps between the labels, but in all cases by the time the 8th row is printeed the printing has crept up and is now overlapping onto the bottom of the 7th row label. The third column is printing on the gutter between the 2nd and 3rd column.
When creating a Custom label it would appear that the Wizard works on Letter size Paper regardless of the paper size that the printer is set to. All my printers are set to A4 size paper.
Letter Paper is 215.9mm x 279.4mm compared to 210mm x 297mm for A4. While the width is not a problem the length is less, and that may well be what is causing the problem when the Wizard creates the labels, despite changing the Paper size to A4. But the paper size can only be changed and set to A4 after the wizard has been given the label size and spacing for margins and gutters.
In my view the Wizard should ask for the paper size and then ask for the label size settings and layout

    David

  • Mail label printing from Address Book

I am trying to print labels for Christmas cards using the label printing feature in Address Book (Tiger version). The cards in my group include First and Last Names as well as the Spouse Name. Sometimes the label prints with the person name and the spouse in the form: John Doe and Jane. Other times the spouse is left off. I would like consistent behavior. At this point it truly seems random. I've tried deleting cards, rebooting and reentering new cards without effect. Can anyone help?
Does anyone know if the problem is resolved in Leopard? If so, I could convert my MacBook and print from it. I can't convert the MacPro yet because some 3rd party software that I rely on is not yet compatible with Leopard.

I encountered the same issue last year around Christmas time. This is what I learned about how Address Book works when printing labels:
If you have a spouse or child listed on contact card it will print them all on the mailing label IF the first name of each person is unique to your entire address book. For example, if the contact is John Brown and the spouse is listed as Susan Brown and the child is listed as Chester Brown, the expectation is that the label would print as:
    John, Susan and Chester Brown
This assumes that there are no other contacts in your address book with the first name of Susan or Chester. However, if, for example, you have another person in your contact list named Susan (the last name could be anything), Address Book will print:
    John and Chester Brown
This is because Address Book looks at all the first names in your contact list and if it sees a first name that is also listed in one of the spouse or child fields then it looks to see if the the other contact shares the same address as the contact you are trying to print. If the address is the same, then it prints properly on the label. If not, then it doesn't print on the label. So if you have two Susans - Susan Anderson and Susan Brown - Address book looks at the address on each card and determines that Susan Brown has the same address as the contact you are trying to print (John Brown) and therefore prints her name on the label.
So, to make a long story short, if you want consistent and predictable results when printing your labels you should assign a unique card to each person that you want to appear on the label and make sure that the individual cards have the same address listed on each. So, in the above example, there would be a card for John Brown, a card for Susan Brown, and a card for Chester Brown. On John Brown's card, Susan Brown would be listed as spouse and Chester Brown would be listed as child. Print John Brown's card and you should get:
    John, Susan and Chester Brown
Although this makes logical sense, it's not incredibly intuitive and not very well documented by Apple. I was hoping they would enhance Address Book in Leopard since this seems like a feature that a lot of people would use around this time of year. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time around.
The next issue that you will probably encounter is what I'm dealing with now: I want to send Christmas cards to the home address of some people on my list and to the business address of others. When printing labels, you can choose to print home addresses, business addresses, all addresses (prints two labels, one for home and one for business) and Distribution List. You can choose your preferred/default mailing address for each contact in your group in the Edit Distribution List menu item. I did this and picked the default address that I wanted for each person on my list. The proper address for each contact should print perfectly when I print labels using the "Distribution List" option. Indeed, all my contacts print to the proper address BUT spouse and child names don't print on any of the cards - they only print when you choose All, Home, or Business!
    Good luck!
