Hello,
Can the Labview builder that makes a exe be configured to copy over support files to the destination of where the exe is located? If so, how is it done?

What features do you need in a LabVIEW build tool?
When developing LabVIEW applications, libraries, and components often ones needs many more features than the Application Builder provides. For example:
* excluding certain directories from the build
* defining custom destinations for specific source directories
* optionally convert destination folders to LLBs (or EXEs)
* adding a Namespace suffix so that all VIs in the built application have globally unique names.
I have created a tool called the Development Environment Application Builder that addresses many of these problems. I am looking for feedback and suggestions from other LabVIEW developers. I want to
know what features you need in a LabVIEW build tool.
I have started a discussion for this topic here.
You can get more info and download this project here.All you can do is turn off the phone. SMS text messages are sent on the same network as voice calls - there is no way around that. You cannot change how they are routed.
iMessgae, will use a wifi connection, when available, but otherwise your text messages will be sent and received over the cellular network. -
Could not start Configuration wizard in Integration Builder - Configuration
Hi SDN,
I am New to XI,
I have gone through 4 scenarios of XI in a system where Xi is up and running sucessfully.
Now one of my colleague Installed ECC5 with XI in our local server.
I need to do a File 2 File Scenario, for which I could create Product, component, Technical System and Business System in SLD.
I could Create a Name space, Message types and Interfaces in Integration Builder - Design
But When I open Configuration Wizard, Internal Communication in Integration Builder- configuration, it is giving a exception : java.lang.NullPointerException.
Can any one help me in resolving this.
Thanks in advance,

Konchada Sai KrishnaHi,
In Exchange profile chack the SLD , http port for Integration Bulder properties.like IR,ID , i hope it will try to check for the SLD info , if it is the first time of XI using , you need to check in Exhcnge profile .
if it is not the first time then refresh the SLD cache..

In Eclipse Team Explorer, when I try to create TFSBuild.proj via Create Ant Build Configuration Wizard, when I click Finish, I get this error:
Error creating build configuration files: Invalid server path or the archive with the same name already exists on the server.
I also get this error in the Console, plus a couple other messages:
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
Parameter name: pathLength
Error creating build configuration files: Invalid server path or the archive with the same name already exists on the server.
I am following the instructions here:
https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/setup-ci-build-in-eclipse.aspx
I have already successfully created build definitions and queued and run builds using Visual Studio. I'm using that same build agent.
Any ideas?
By the way, I'm using Visual Studio Online with an on-premises build agent.
Update: I also tried to delete my builds, delete the build agent, create a new build agent - still same problem.
I tried this on another dev machine with no visual studio or workspaces previously installed - still same problem.
I tried creating the version control folder where it was trying to store TFSBuild.proj. I tried using a build.xml that was in a shorter path. Still same problem.tomasr2 good evening.
I believe the problem is the same that occurs when we have the name of the files in the build nomento exceeding 250 characters
looking full name of TFSBuild.prj file (file directories +) with how many characters are getting?
For example: $ / Project1 / Solution1 / BuildDefinition1 / TFSBuild.prj => 50 characters.
I hope it helps.

LabView startup configuration script?
Hello,
(Sorry, I initially posted this message in the wrong board. It should be in this board "LabView") Is there anyway to write a script or change the options/settings somewhere in LabView so that when LabView starts it references a configuration file somewhere on a server?
This question comes about because of another question: Is it possible to create a new VI User Library with the VI repository as a shared folder on a server? I've found that you can add paths in the "paths" section of the LabView options. I created a folder and placed a custom made VI within the folder. I then added this folder path to the list of paths. When I restart LabView, the VI I created can then be found by going to the block panel palette and selecting "Select VI" from the list. It then opens up a browser window with a default path to the folder path I just created in the LabView Options > Paths page. Obviously, within this folder, I can find my VI. However, I would like my custom VIs to appear in the “User Libraries” section of the palatte.
What I would really like to do is have my team save all their custom VIs to a shared folder on the network and then have these VIs appear in the "User Libraries" section of the block panel palette (instead of having to do to "Select VI"). On top of this, I would like to create, perhaps, a start up script so that when one or multiple of my teammate starts LabView, LabView automatically configures the paths in the Option page so that the custom defined VIs appear in the "User Libraries" (as stated above).
Is this possible? If so, can anyone explain how?
Thanks!

Solved!
Go to Solution.As much as I want you to take user.lib out of SCC I'll give you a tip, just as on Unix environments you can have symbolic links on Windows as well.
I haven't tried them but I guess Google is your friend.
To answer your original question you can instruct LabVIEW to read a different INI file on startup. See the LabVIEW wiki.
You cannot move the user.lib folder, LabVIEW 8.0 had that option and it was one of the bigger mistakes of that release.

User events from labview build dll
Reference to pattern
Previous discussion
I had this pattern in place in a LV 7.1 application using a LabVIEW
build DLL, but when migrating to LV 8.5 I found that User Events
created in one application instance can not be fired by another
application instance. It seems that since LV 8.x a LabVIEW build DLL
are a different application instance. The generate user event function generates an error inside the DLL stating that it is not working because it is a reference from another application instance.
Is the behaviour of a LV build DLL different than a C build DLL? Is the C build DLL part of the same application instance as the LV executable?
Is there a way the get the LV build DLL to be a part of the same application instance as the LV build executable or development environment?
Regards,
André
Using whatever version of LV the customer requires. (LV5.1-LV2012) (www.carya.nl)Forgot to tell that I rebuild the DLL in LV 8.5, before making that conclusion.

I was able to generate good installer files few weeks ago from labview builder. Since few weeks, when a generate a installer files, when a start the installation on PCs, the default installation directory is "D:\ProgramFilesFolder\..." instead of "C:\program files\...". All my build files that was working correctly in past are now with this problem.
I had uninstalled the builder and reinstall it after. No changes.
I there any workaround to fix this.Hi Germain,
You'll want to verify that your Windows default install directory is set correctly in the registry. Here are the steps to follow:
0.
1. Go to Start >> Run...
2. Type "regedit" in the Open field
3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
4. Back up this registry branch first so you can undo any unwanted changes in the future! Go to File >> Export.... Type in a name to save the .reg file as and choose Selected branch for the Export Range.
5. Now, to change the default install directory, you'll notice on the right-hand side window, there will be a string called ProgramFilesDir. Modify this value to the desired path.
You're set! Best of luck. =)

Accessing Xcode build configuration within code
HI, I'm trying to get the Xcode build configuration in code to insert debug messages, eg like in C i would do:
#ifdef DEBUG
printf("some debug");
#endif
Is there a preprocessor variable for Xcode (DEBUG or Debug) doesn't seem to workI don't believe there is such as thing, at least there wasn't a couple years back when I last looked. But you can create your own preprocessor directive. In your target settings and for the Debug configuration only, create a GCCPREPROCESSORDEFINITIONS value of DEBUG=1. (Search for GCCPREPROCESSORDEFINITIONS or Preprocessor Macros to find it in the settings. It's in the GCC Preprocessing section.)
Or copy the following line and paste it into your target settings window:
GCCPREPROCESSORDEFINITIONS = DEBUG=1
The you can use code like this:
#if DEBUG
blah
#endif -
ClickOnce Pre-Build configuration change
I'm looking for a way to change my configuration files before a build commences. Having, for example, test.app.config become app.config then have the build commence as normal.
Hi langlang1701,
By reseraching, I found this msdn blog is helpful :
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsto/archive/2010/03/09/tricks-with-app-config-and-clickonce-deployment-saurabh-bhatia.aspx
If you need to update a ClickOnce application and the app.config file to say change a web service URL while moving from a test server to a production server, you can use three different ways to update the manifests and app.config file.
1. Manually edit the manifests to point to the app.config file and update the hash. Then, re-sign the manifests.
2. Use the Settings Designer to select the correct app.config file and republish the solution by using Visual Studio.
3. Create a build configuration for each app.config file and include the correct app.config file.
If you have any other concern regarding this issue, please feel free to let me know.

LabVIEW build Error 1 occured at NiFgen Configure Frequency.vi
Trying to rebuild the executable of a LV6.1 project, previously built on another computer (which crashed this week). Reinstalled development system on a replacement computer and now get this error message when I try to build. The application runs without problem in the development environment on the new computer.
It seems that the problem is limited to a single VI. Can you build the VI in another executable? On a long shot you might want to press control-shift-runarrow on the top level VI to perform a binary recompile of the code. Changes are you will see nothing happen.

Are you trying to build an EXE or an Installer? You may need to ensure that dll links are linking correctly. Which version of LabVIEW was this project originally developed? That may also be an issue. Especially if you are changing LabVIEW versions, Operating Systems and .NET versions. Here is a document that dicusses some possibilities of the error.

Integration Builder configuration.
Dear All,
I am new to XI as Basis Administrator. I need to configure Integration Builder for developers. All I have access is to SLD http://<hostname>/sld and SAP GUI.
All I know is I need to install JRE with version > 1.4.* and configure web proxy to access XI server.
My question is what will developers expect me to configure, and what will developer be doing with integration builder ? (tasks in broad terms)
Do I need to perfrom any tasks on Visual administrator to make some settings ? what are minimum authorizations should I give to developer ?
Any reasonable advice will be helpful get start configuring integration builder.
Thanks,
NHi,

XI Developers needs Rights for
1 Usually the technical system configuration is carried out by basis or admin team
2 Integration builder - creating all design objects, configuration objects
3. You have to provide access for the developer to monitor in RWB
