Labview doesn't recoginze the PCI-6023E card

Hi there,
I have labview 7 installed in a windows 7 32 bit system. I just have a PCI-6023E card installed and the windows device manager said that device is ready to use. I am trying to install the driver on the CD but NI just fail to recognize that card

Hi dragondriver,
AG@Amfax is right, this LabVIEW version is not supported in Windows 7. The oldest supported version is LabVIEW 2009 SP1. Please take a look to this compatibility chart.
Once you have a compatible LabVIEW installed in the OS, you'll need a compatible driver version. Please refer to this link.
Best,
Carmen C.

  • Noise measurment of an accelerometer with the PCI-4461 card

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to measure the noise of an single axis accelerometer with a PCI-4461 card.
First, I have manually measured this noise using an HP35665 signal analyser. I obtain something like this:
And now with LabView and the PCI-4461 card, I get this:
My question is: where does this part come from? And how to remove it ? (Since it doesn't exist with the signal analyser)
    I'm using LabView 8.5.
This is how I configured the DAQ acquisition:
    and this is my VI:
Thank you in advance for helping

    Hello
Yes indeed, the time signal seems to have two paterns (in green below), once negative and positive once about 50 ms later. This pattern is repeated with a frequency of 0.94 Hz (for simplicity let's say 1Hz).
I have reproduced this pattern with matlab using a decreasing exponential:
I have obtained this spectral signal:
That closely looks like what disturbs the spectrum, indeed..
Then I have tried to output a sinewave and acquire it:
    I didn't see any problem.
So I made the measurment with other sensors.
The sensors are ICP accelerometers. The sensors that I am using are in page 7 of these document:
    https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fvibrasens.com%2Fimages%2Fpdf%2FVS_Catalog.pdf
(I'm currently doing an intership in this company)
And finally I found that the problem came from the cable: when I use the shielded cables, the problem is present; and when I use "normal" cable, there is not the problem, as you can see :
(In red, the sensor is connected with a non shielded cable, and in white, with a shielded one.)

  • Can I use the 2 digital triggers on the PCI-6023E to trigger 2 seperate Analog inputs on the same board?

I want to monitor 2 analog DC signals (single point measurements, not a waveform) and I want to use the digital triggers to start the acquisition, 1 trigger for 1 AI. the measurements need to be made at 1Hz, maybe slower. Is this possible with the PCI-6023E?
If not what hardware should I be looking at? I have a total of 6 triggers and 6 AI.

    Dimentia,
I would need confirmation on what you want to do:
    1) I want to monitor 2 analog DC signals
This means that you will have one Analog Input operation monitoring two channels. Please confirm.
    2) single point measurements, not a waveform
    Ok, no buffers.
    3) I want to use the digital triggers to start the acquisition, 1 trigger for 1 AI
This would mean that a single digital pulse or edge on a single line would start your 2-channel analog input operation. Please confirm.
    4) the measurements need to be made at 1Hz, maybe slower.
Hardware-timed or software-timed? 1 Hz could be easily implemented with software timing. But the triggering could force you to use hardware timing. It will not be a problem but it would be good to know.
    5) Is
    this possible with the PCI-6023E?
Everything I mention above is possible with the PCI-6023E.
    6) I have a total of 6 triggers and 6 AI.
This last phrase is what really confuses me and seems to contradict the previous sentences. Does this mean that you will want to perform 6 independent Analog Input operations, with its own triggers (one each)? Will every Analog Input operation have 2 channels?
I'll clarify why this is important:
    - Each Analog Input operation can only have one hardware digital start trigger assigned to it.
    - Only one Analog Input operation (multiple channels allowed) can be performed per board at any time.
Since the rates are so slow I would recommend that you perform sample all channels within a continuous acquisition and then discard the data that does not meet a certain condition. You could sample the triggers as well and discard those channels for which the trigger has not been received.
These are just some ideas based on my assumptions on the
problem. Assumptions are never a good thing so please confirm on the point s above and we'll try to help.

  • Does the PCI-CAN2 card support DeviceNet ??

We are building a CAN network to simulate the CAN bus environment in vehicles.what we have are a pci-can2 card ,a simulator based on 51singlechips,and a electromotor.we plan to build a CAN node with  the simulator and the electromtor to simulate the mirror adjustor in vehicle ,and try to allow the exchangement between the  realone and the simulator later .so ,a Devicenet based on CAN network may be a suitable choice to us.But I saw two different products on NI.com , PCI-CAN2 and PCI-DNET.so  I wonder  whether we can implement Devicenet protocol on the PCI-CAN2 card ? If possible , what should we do and what do we need? no matter software or hardware ,Could you please give me some suggestion?  Thank you !!

    Hi,
The easiest way to interact with a DeviceNet based network is using the NI-DNET
driver software. The NI-DNET software runs on all CAN cards that come
as part of an NI-DNET kit (PCI-DNET, PXI-8461/D and PCMCIA-DNET) as
well as certain Series 1 CAN cards.
There are two different types of CAN hardware, referred to as 'Series
1' and 'Series 2'. Only 'Series 1' CAN cards with a high-speed physical
layer can be used with NI-DNET.
'Series 2' CAN hardware was introduced about two years ago and DOES NOT
work with NI-DNET. The online product pages don't list Series 1 CAN
    hardware anymore.
From chapter 2, 'NI-DNET Hardware Overview' of the NI-DNET User Manual:
Hardware in (current) CAN kits is referenced as Series 2. Hardware in
DeviceNet kits is referenced as Series 1. Series 2 CAN cards cannot be
used with the NI-DNET software (NI-CAN only). The features of Series 2
CAN cards are specifically designed for CAN applications, and provide
no distinct advantages for DeviceNet. For more information on Series 2
hardware, refer to the hardware overview in the NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual.
Hardware in CAN kits offers 1-port and 2-port variants. NI-DNET
operates on one port only. If you use NI-DNET on a 2-port Series 1 CAN
card, only the top port can be used.
Hardware in CAN kits offer special transceivers (physical layer) such
as Low-Speed/Fault-Tolerant (LS) and Single-Wire (SW). Hardware in CAN
kits also offer the option to power the transceiver from the card, not
the network. These transceivers cannot be used with DeviceNet. Only
High-Speed (HS) transceivers comply with the DeviceNet specification.

  • Do I need Daq s/w while running a Labview exe which contains the DAQ hardware cards on a pc which does not have Labview s/w

I am having a Labview 6i program which takes hardware status from the NI hardware cards...now I make its exe with Labview Run Time Engine & then I am unistalling complete Labview with "Remove all" option....then I am installing this exe......Do I need DAQ or MAX now ?

    Hello,
If you have an executable with DAQ functions in it, then you are required to have NI-DAQ installed on the machine.
Also, please post your LabVIEW/DAQ questions in the appropriate category...this category is for questions pertaining to the NI product "Measure for Windows", which you do not appear to be using.

  • How i can connect the pci nican card with stoeber posidyn sds 4021 via serial cable

i'm trying to communicate the stoeber posisyn sds 4021 servo inverter and the pci ni-can card via serial cable. the problem is that 1 RxD and 2 TxD pins dont have any connection available on the can card.
it is important to connect these pins somewhere or can_l and can_h do all the job?
what about the v- terminal, it is possible to connect it in grnd and leave v+ with 8v?

In this situation it may be necessary to contact the manufacturer of this device. It is strongly recommended to use both CAN_H and CAN_L for CAN communication. The V- pin is used as reference ground. The V+ is simply for bus power.

  • Can the PCI-6602 card be configured for 3.3 volts?

I would like to be able to configure my pci-6602 card to output 3.3 volt signals either in software or with MAX. Can this be done?

The 6602 uses only 5V logic for it's driven outputs, but there is a Tri-State Enable feature which drives the output to high impedance instead of hi. This allows you to pull up the outputs to the required logic voltage.
The Tri-State Enable is found using the wired OR map in the DIO Port Config.vi

  • How can I use the instrument toolbox in MATLAB 6.1 to contol the PCI-GPIB card under Linux?

I'm trying to use the PCI-GPIB controller to control lab equipment through MATLAB 6.1 (R12.1) under Linux. MATLAB's instrument toolbox seems to integrate with NI's board, but the MATLAB documentation says it requires the installation of a driver. I've downloaded the linux gpib driver, and I'm able to run the associated utilities (ibconf, ibic, ibsta), but MATLAB cannot interface to it. For example,
    >> g=gpib('ni',0,1)
    ??? Error using ==> gpib/gpib
The specified VENDOR adaptor could not be found.
Where can I find a MATLAB driver and how can I install it?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hello-
The knowledge base: "Can Matlab for Windows Call the National Instruments GPIB Driver?" Also applies to this question as well. This article is very extensive. Try searching on ni.com for "+matlab +gpib" for more details.

  • MAX doesn't show the installed IMAQ card 1422,1424,1428

After successfully installing the IMAQ cards 1428, 1424 and 1422 in the PC, they doesn't appear in either MAX or VIsion builder. I checked with other PCs and other slots but it is the same case in every PC. In the device manager, the card is shown as NI IMAQ card with the NI logo.

You may want to try the following suggestions in the order in which I wrote them, however I would like to point out just in case you installed all the boards at the same time, please make sure that you install one board at a time and that it works fine in MAX, if board 1 works, then install board 2, and so on. I've seen problems when installing multiple boards at the same time.
    Suggestions:
    1. Open MAX, go to view>>refresh or press F5 and then check under 'Devices and Interfaces'. If that does not works then go to Device Manager of Windows and make sure that under the 'National Instruments IMAQ Interfaces' list each board has its name, like 1428, etc. If they do then go ahead and check the properties of the driver and click the 'update driver' button, follow the automa
tic procedures, and have the computer re-assign the driver. If they do not show the name of the interface like PCI-1428 then something might be wrong with the driver you are installing, download NI-IMAQ 2.5.1 from our website and then update it to 2.5.5.
    2. if '1' did not work. Close MAX. Please go to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX and delete the file named 'config.mxs'. Restart MAX.
    3. If '2' did not work, then to the same but reboot the computer before restarting MAX.
    4. If '3' did not work, then shutdown the computer, take all your IMAQ boards out, reboot computer and go to Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Software >> NI-IMAQ, click the 'change' button and select 'reinstall', before pressing this button you should select 'reinstall mode' to the bigger one. After reinstalling the software, reboot the computer, so registries will be taken care of, then shutdown and install only one board. If it works in MAX then install the second one and so on.
    Hope t
    his helps.

  • How to sovle the hardware error of the PCI-can2 card

Unless your card has specific commands it supports outside of GP then you will need to create an applet to determine these things. There is the JCSystem.getAvailableMemory API that can tell you how much of each memory type are left on the card. These only return a short so you will need to search the forum for ways to work with larger cards.
You should really be looking at the card product documentation from the manufacturer for these details.
    Cheers,
    Shane

  • When I use MAx to test a digital channel, what circuitry is internal to the SCB-68 or the PCI-6023E such that when I con

nect a 5V power supply to DGND and intermittantly touch the currnt supply to DIO1 no change occurs, yet if I leave a variable power supply connected to it and change the Dc voltage from 0 to 5 the digital state changes when I cross the 1.5+ Volt threshold?

nect a 5V power supply to DGND and intermittantly touch the currnt supply to DIO1 no change occurs, yet if I leave a variable power supply connected to it and change the Dc voltage from 0 to 5 the digital state changes when I cross the 1.5+ Volt threshold? The digital lines of the 6023E are TTL logic lines meant to handle voltages. You can consider a digital input to be high impedance, basically accepting little or no current. This would explain why your current supply doesn't cause a change in the digital state. The signal must reach TTL logic levels in order to trigger a change in the digital state.
TTL logic specifies the low voltage range (0) to be between 0V - 0.8V, and the high voltage range (1) to be between 2V -5V. Anything not in these ranges, for instance 1.5V, will give you an unpredictable result.

  • The PCI 6023E does not read analog values, and then if I close the application it is reseting the VI for at least half an hour

If i try to use the test pannel it gives me the error 50103 ( i beleave because the reset it makes is not finished)

At first glance, it looks like there is a conflict between DAQmx and Traditional DAQ device drivers of this particular device.
Maybe you ran an application that uses traditional DAQ Analog input VI's and later, tried testing it on DAQmx MAX test panel.
To solve this, find the "Device Reset.vi" function in your Traditional DAQ functions Palette, enter your DAQ card's Traditional DAQ device number( find it in MAX>> Devices and interfaces>Traditional DAQ Devices)  to the 'Device' input terminal of this function and Run it.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I find the part numbers for the output drivers on the PCI-6534 Card?

We are planning to use an NI-6534 card to test very sensitive hardware. The DAQ will simulate the interface to which this particular piece of hardware will be connected.
Our concern is that there is some way that we can damage our hardware during test.
The best way to insure that this is not a concern would be to say that the DAQ interfaces to our hardware in the exact same way as our real interface. This of course is not likely, so we need to understand the differences. To do this I think we need to compare the I/O spec of the devices directly connected to our hardware under test on both the DAQ and our interface.
Of course we need to know the part number of the NI I/O output drivers.
The kind of data I think we are interested in is:
Voh, Vol, Ioh, Iol, and transition times...
Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hi goldbach,
The other specification you were looking for, slew rate, is typically between 2.75 and 4.5 ns depending on your load. The following knowledge base discusses briefly on this point.
