Labview project size limit?

I have a large application that consists of a large GUI (state machine) and a couple other libraries with vi's and controls. The main GUI vi is 25Meg and the two .llb's are around 10Meg. I am finding that when I try to save the main GUI it can do one of three things:
1. Crash immediatly
2. Go non-responsive but still use 50 percent of processor resources
3. If I only make slight changes, it might save properly (takes a few seconds)
I am finding that the biggest problem seems to be related to making changes in the event case (there are currently 240 cases). I have run into situations where I cut and paste something into a new case, and the next time I save Labview crashes. Sometimes a broken wire in the event case can cause a lot of trouble if I do manage to save it. Once I remove the broken wire and try to save, Labview crash
Is anyone else seeing this problem, has anyone else found a way around this?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated,
Thanks

You don't need to create pop-up windows. If you have a set of releated controls, just pass them as references into a SubVi, which handles the appropriate events. Same can go for updating indicators (if they contain no array/cluster data, the 'value' property node will be ok).
Some posts in this forum suggest, that it is the huge number of event cases you have, that might cause the instability. The posted explanation was, that whenever you make a change in one of these cases/events, the compiler is recompiling the code of all cases behind the scenes.
So really find ways to reduce the number of cases/events. Propably the same code is executed for several events, that allows you to combine them. I also would not like to scroll down a list of 240 events when coding...

  • Is there a project size limit for Captivate 3?

    Hello,
    I'm using Captivate 3 and building a project that is currently approximately 19,200 KB.  I don't know if that's too large but as I continue to build, it seems to be acting funny like it's too big.  For instance, it closed on me without warning which it never did before.  Also it's taking longer & longer to prepare for previewing. My project is only about 1/3 finished so I'm concerned I'm going to get into more & more problems given its growing size.
    I thought to break it into smaller projects and link them using the MenuBuilder but I haven't figured out a way to get back to this menu page from the project.  In Advance Settings of a particular menu item, I can select "Open link in the same window."  This happens but at the end of watching that linked project, I just get a blank screen.  If I "X" out of that project at the end of it using the "X" on the menu, I get a white screen. If I use the MS Window's "X", then everything closes included the menu preview window.  Is it possible to somehow use a button to get back to the menu page and not have a 2nd window open for the menu item that was selected? Or maybe I can keep building in a single project b/c there is no size limit?
    Thank you,
    Jeanne

    Welcome to our community, Jeanne
    Indeed Captivate 3 projects *DO* actually have a "size limit". But I'm unaware of any specific byte size that is to be concerned about. Typically we recommend folks keep projects at somewhere between 50-65 slides as a "rule of thumb" guideline for an upper limit.
    There are a great many factors that come into play with this. Things such as:
    Authoring PC Specifications (available memory, hard drive, processor speed, etc.)
    How many objects are on each slide
    Generally you are able to split things up and perform what is called a "Daisy Chain" approach. This is where one project ends and another is launched as the ending action. You may also specify that the end action for projects be to open the SWF that contains the menu.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • LabView RT FTP file size limit

    I have created a few very large AVI video clips on my PXIe-8135RT (LabView RT 2014).  When i try to download these from the controller's drive to a host laptop (Windows 7) with FileZilla, the transfer stops at 1GB (The file size is actually 10GB).
    What's going on?  The file appears to be created correctly and I can even use AVI2 Open and AVI2 Get Info to see that the video file contains the frames I stored.  Reading up about LVRT, there is nothing but older information which claim the file size limit is 4GB, yet the file was created at 10GB using the AVI2 VIs.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    As usual, the answer was staring me right in the face.  FileZilla was reporting the size in an odd manner and the file was actually 1GB.  The vi I used was failing.  After fixing it, it failed at 2GB with error -1074395965 (AVI max file size reached).

  • Increase Project File Size limit?

    When I'm recording a longer song with real instruments, occasionally I will be told I can't record because I'm close to the 2gb file size limit. How do you increase the file size limit, or just get rid of it all together?

    I didn't know there was a size limit. I have Projects that are over 2 GB.

  • FILE and FTP Adapter file size limit

    Hi,
    Oracle SOA Suite ESB related:
    I see that there is a file size limit of 7MB for transferring using File and FTP adapter and that debatching can be used to overcome this issue. Also see that debatching can be done only for strucutred files.
    1) What can be done to transfer unstructured files larger than 7MB from one server to the other using FTP adapter?
    2) For structured files, could someone help me in debatching a file with the following structure.
    000|SEC-US-MF|1234|POPOC|679
    100|PO_226312|1234|7130667
    200|PO_226312|1234|Line_id_1

    I would need a the complete data in a single file at the destination for each file in the source. If there are as many number of files as the number of batches at the destination, I would need the file output file structure be as follows:

    Ok Here are the steps
    1. Create an inbound file adapter as you normally would. The schema is opaque, set the polling as required.
    2. Create an outbound file adapter as you normally would, it doesn't really matter what xsd you use as you will modify the wsdl manually.
    3. Create a xsd that will read your file. This would typically be the xsd you would use for the inbound adapter. I call this address-csv.xsd.
    4. Create a xsd that is the desired output. This would typically be the xsd you would use for the outbound adapter. I have called this address-fixed-length.xsd. So I want to map csv to fixed length format.
    5. Create the xslt that will map between the 2 xsd. Do this in JDev, select the BPEL project, right-click -> New -> General -> XSL Map
    6. Edit the outbound file partner link wsdl, the the jca operations as the doc specifies, this is my example.
    <jca:binding  />
            <operation name="MoveWithXlate">
          <jca:operation
              InteractionSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileIoInteractionSpec"
              SourcePhysicalDirectory="foo1"
              SourceFileName="bar1"
              TargetPhysicalDirectory="C:\JDevOOW\jdev\FileIoOperationApps\MoveHugeFileWithXlate\out"
              TargetFileName="purchase_fixed.txt"
              SourceSchema="address-csv.xsd"
              SourceSchemaRoot ="Root-Element"
              SourceType="native"
              TargetSchema="address-fixedLength.xsd"
              TargetSchemaRoot ="Root-Element"
              TargetType="native"
              Xsl="addr1Toaddr2.xsl"
              Type="MOVE">
          </jca:operation> 7. Edit the outbound header to look as follows
        <types>
            <schema attributeFormDefault="qualified" elementFormDefault="qualified"
                    targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/file/"
                    xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
                    xmlns:FILEAPP="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/file/">
                <element name="OutboundFileHeaderType">
                    <complexType>
                        <sequence>
                            <element name="fileName" type="string"/>
                            <element name="sourceDirectory" type="string"/>
                            <element name="sourceFileName" type="string"/>
                            <element name="targetDirectory" type="string"/>
                            <element name="targetFileName" type="string"/>
                        </sequence>
                    </complexType>
                </element>
            </schema>
        </types>   8. the last trick is to have an assign between the inbound header to the outbound header partner link that copies the headers. You only need to copy the sourceDirectory and SourceGileName
        <assign name="Assign_Headers">
          <copy>
            <from variable="inboundHeader" part="inboundHeader"
                  query="/ns2:InboundFileHeaderType/ns2:fileName"/>
            <to variable="outboundHeader" part="outboundHeader"
                query="/ns2:OutboundFileHeaderType/ns2:sourceFileName"/>
          </copy>
          <copy>
            <from variable="inboundHeader" part="inboundHeader"
                  query="/ns2:InboundFileHeaderType/ns2:directory"/>
            <to variable="outboundHeader" part="outboundHeader"
                query="/ns2:OutboundFileHeaderType/ns2:sourceDirectory"/>
          </copy>
        </assign>you should be good to go. If you just want pass through then you don't need the native format set to opaque, with no XSLT
    cheers

  • Maximum project size exceeded

    Is there a way to change the maximum project size? I have an index of images on a drive, broken into folders, and I want them all in the same project.

    No ... 10,000 is the limit ...
    why not store each folder (from your hd) as a project and put those within blue folders ...

  • TFS Preview source control file size limit

    Is there a file size limit for adding large files to a TFS Preview project's source control..?   I would like to add some files to source control that are in the 20-30Mb range and the requests keep aborting.

    Hi Erich,
    Thank you for your post.
    I test the issue by adding .zip file to TFS Azure version comtrol, the size include 10MB, 20MB, 100MB, 2GB, i can add they to version control properly without any problem.
    In order narrow down the issue, here are some situations i want to clarify from you:
    1. What's the error message when TFS azure block the check-in process? Could you share a screen shot?
    2. Which client tool are you using? VS10 or VS11? Or other tools?
    3. Try to reproduce this in different network environment and see what will happen.
    4. Capture a fiddler trace which can help to check the issue.

  • Is there a file size limit or other limit

    Hi,
    I imported a movie into imovie as a new event. It's an MOV file. It's pretty long, 3 hours and 55 minutes. However, the idvd option in the Share menu is grayed out. I even tried doing it without any chapter markers or anything. I then just took a 40 minute clip from the movie. Even that small amount was grayed out.
    Is there some size limit to the event import?
    Without shutting down imovie or anything. I started another project. I imported another MOV video I know worked fine before. It was just under two hours. The iDVD menu was active.
    I don't get any messages or anything. What causes the iDVD to gray out for one movie file but not another. They are of the exact same quality. Size is the only thing I can think of, but there is no reference.

    The limitation is iDVD. For single-layer iDVD projects, the limit is 120 minutes. That includes all content: movies, slideshows, and menu/submenu content.
    If your project exceeds that limit, you cannot share it to iDVD. For dual-layer DVD disks, the limitation in iDVD is double, so the maximum content limit is 240 minutes. Your iMovie is only 5 minutes less than the limit. Even if you do a dual-layer project, you may find that your menu content makes the project exceed even the 240 minute limit. If you could delete another 3-5 minutes of the iMovie, you would ensure that it would be under the time limit.
    To get iDVD menu option activated, try opening a new iDVD project, changing its preferences to dual-layer and then saving and closing the project. That might change iDVD's default so that when you try again to share the long iMovie, the iDVD menu will be active.
    If that does not work, close the movie, open the new iDVD project, go to iDVD preferences and be certain the dual-layer option is selected. Then, in the iDVD project, go to the Media tab, then Movies, locate your iMovie and drag it into the iDVD project's main menu window.
    You need to be sure that your drive can burn to dual layer disks. Most newer computers can do so, but some of the older Macs cannot.

  • Tektronix DMM 4050 / SignalExpress, file size limit?

    Sorry for the rookie / noob nature of this question, this is my 1st experience with this type of testing...  I need to record ~210 hours worth of capacitance readings via Tektronix DMM 4050 / SignalExpress & the unit captures 2 readings per second.  Is there a default file size limit that will shut the recording down once it is hit?  If so, how do I alter or remove that limit?

  • Video file size limit in iPhoto??

    I recently used my entire 2 gig memory stick in video mode on my Sony H1 digital camera. Upon connecting the camera to my iMac, iPhoto did launch, but after repeated trys, there was no 25 minute video in my iPhoto gallery. This has always worked before, although always with shorter clips. I am wondering if iPhoto has a file size limit for video clips?
    iMac G5 20 1.8 GHz - 512MB Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

    Hi Forest,
    When iPhoto 5 first came out I really think it was programmed to import the smaller 30 sec video clips that cameras were taking at the time. Since then, digital cameras, at least my Canon S2 can take clips as large as your memory card can hold. The first time I tried to download my images and movie clips with my new camera, iPhoto stalled at the movie clips. I wasn't going to take any chances messing up my iPhoto Library so I started using Image Capture to download all my images and Movie clips. I actually like doing it this way a lot better. My movie clips are downloaded into my Movies folder where I then put them in a dated folder.
    My photos are downloaded into my Pictures folder, where I then put them in a dated folder. I import the dated folder into iPhoto. I also keep all dated folders from photo downloads in the Pictures folder till I get enough Movie folders and Photo folders to fill a DVD. I burn them and then delete them from the hard drive.
    This way I have the photos in iPhoto and I also have just the photos backed up to DVD.
    The Movies I keep on the hard drive in their dated folders until I use all the clips for my iMovie projects for the Year. I then make sure they are all burned to DVD, then I delete those from my hard drive.
    Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
    Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
    When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
    Under the General button choose
    Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
    The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
    In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
    To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
    iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
    If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

  • Notes' file size limit

    I'm use Project 2010 , and i have a question
    I can insert my file when size  less than 12mb,but i can't insert my file when file is over 20mb,
    Is there a limit when insert a file to a note?

    TecLoder --
    I looked at the Help article on the limits for Microsoft Project 2010, but the Help article did not list any limits on the size of a file that you can insert in the Notes field.  My guess is that there is some kind of internal file size limit that Microsoft
    has not documented, and I would suspect you have hit that file size limit.  Instead of inserting documents in your project, why don't you use the Hyperlink table instead and insert hyperlinks to the files for tasks that need the files?  That would
    be an alternate approach, but the limit would be one hyperlink per task, unless of course, you would to simply list the hyperlinks in the Notes field instead.  Hope this helps.

  • CRIO FTP transfer file size limit

    Hi,
    I generated a data file on my cRIO that is about 2.1 GB in size. I'm having trouble transferring this file off of the cRIO using FTP. I've tried windows explorer FTP, the built in MAX file transfer utility, coreFTP,and WinSCP. I am able to transfer other files on the cRIO that are smaller in size.
    Is there an FTP transfer file size limit? Is it around 2 GB? Is there anything I can do to get this file off of the device?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I am not making the FTP transfer programmatically through LabVIEW. Rather, I am trying to utilize the cRIO's onboard FTP server to make the file transfer using off the shelf Windows FTP file transfer applications. I generate the data file by sampling the cRIO's analog inputs and recording to the onboard drive. I transfer the file at some point after the fact; whenever is convenient.
    To program the cRIO, I am using LabVIEW 2012 SP1 and the corresponding versions of Real-Time and FPGA. I am using a cRIO-9025 controller and 9118 chassis.
    I do not get any error messages from any of the FTP clients I have tried besides a generic "file transfer failed".
    I have had no issues transferring files under 2 GB using FTP clients. I have tried up to 1.89 GB files. The problem seems to only appear when the file is greater than 2 GB in size.
    I have found some information elsewhere online that some versions of the common Apache web server do not support transferring files greater than 2 GB. Does anyone know what kind of FTP server the cRIO-9025 runs?
