LabVIEW TestStand Runtime Server

I am using TS3.5 and LV8.2 and my LabVIEW Adapter is TestStand LabVIEW Runtime Server. When I launch my TestStand/TestExec application the TSLVRTS automatically launches too and everything runs fine, the problem is that when I close the app the TSLVRTS stays open and it is supposed to close automatically.
This is the content of the TestStandLVRTS.ini:
[TestStandLVRTS]
viSearchPath=<topvi>:\*
[Server Options]
Hide=TRUE
[TestStandLVRTS]
hideRootWindow=TRUE
Does anyone has an idea of what could be causing this? or where to get a full list of the flags that can be set in the TestStandLVRTS.ini file?
I have exactly the same flags in my TestStandLVRTS.ini file for LV7.0 and TS3.0 and everything works fine.
Thank you for your help

In TestStand 3.0 and prior, the LabVIEW Runtime Server shut down when the Adapter was unloaded.  However, this behavior was intentionally changed in TestStand 3.1.  When multiple processes were using the LabVIEW Runtime Server, this caused problems when one of the processes exited.  The Runtime Server was closed, even though the other process may still be using this server.  To correct this undesirable behavior, we do not try to shut down the Runtime Server.  The LabVIEW Runtime Server is left open intentionally.  You will not be able to change any flags to have it shut down since the code is inside the LabVIEW Adapter for TestStand.

  • Can't create Labview 6.02 runtime server.

    I tried to use the Labview source code for the Runtime Server to build a LV 6.02 Runtime Server that I can use in TestStand 2.0 with a Visual Basic Operator Interface.
    Right now, I cannot run an example TestStand sequence with the example Visual Basic Operator Interface...I get error 18002.

    This error means the VI that you are trying to call is not executable. There are usually 2 reasons for this.
    1) The most likely cause is that you have not assembled your VIs for distribution. Whenever you try to run a VI on a machine using the the LV run-time engine, you must distribute other VIs on which your VI is dependent. TS ships with a tool that will search you sequences, find all called VIs and then gather up all the necessary support files. You then must change your TS search directories to reference these compiled files so that your sequences use them over the development VIs. These are the files that you must distribute to your target machine. I STRONGLY recommend that you test your assembled VIs and your run-time server on your development machine befo
    re distributing. If it doesn't work on the development machine it is a waste of time to distribute. Please read the NIDZ document "Overview of Distributing TestStand when your Sequences use the LabVIEW Standard Prototype Adapter".
    2) The other cause is that you VI is truely broken (e.g. bad wires, bad subVI, etc). Usually you would have detected this problem when running the VI on your development machine.

  • LabVIew Runtime server

    The first version of TS I used was 3.1about 1+ years ago and never heard about the LabVIEW Runtime Server, I always used either the LV RTE or the Dev System as my LV adapters. Now, I'm trying to move some old stuff that is in TS3.0 LV7.0 to TS3.5 LV8.2 and I am having problems creating the LVRTS executable (windows problems). Does anybody know where can I find documentation on this? Everybody seems to have forgotten why are we even using it...
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    The Runtime Server was provided, so that you could run the LabVIEW code modules, when deployed on a system with no developement system. The Server could either be the LVRTS or the Labview Operator Interface.
    What windows problems are you having?
    One thing to remember, make sure all you VIs are at the same versions that includes your code modules and the various TS assoicated VI's.
    You dont really have to do much with the RTS, just mass compile all the relevant VI's. Load the bld file and rebuild.

    Hi, When you connect to NI OPC Server by creating New I/O Server > OPC Client. You will see all registered OPC Servers running on local machine or remote machine. I used KepServerEx from Kepware and LSIS OPC Server from LG with no problems. Just make sure that the OPC server is running.
    Hope it helps

  • Labview and ole-server

    Hi,
    I need information about the activation of an "OLE server" via Labview.
    This server is activated without any problems by using the "CreateObject ("servername")" command within the Excel and Visual Basic environment and all methods are available. I tried an automation-refnum to find the server in the Labview Library - without any success.
    How might I realise this Labview Problem?

    Than you can create for example an ActiveX Container.
    Open the context menu by right-clicking and  select "Insert ActiveX Object ..."
    Is your ActiveX device not listed there. Choose "Create Object from File"
    instead of "Create Control" and directly select it

  • Does the LabVIEW TestStand UI button control support multi-line captions?

    I would like the caption of a LabVIEW TestStand UI button control to wrap onto two lines (multi-line) instead of being confined to a single line.  For example, instead of the caption looking like:
    Loop On Selected Steps...
    I would like it to appear like this:
    Loop On Selected
            Steps...
    I have plenty of vertical space on my TestStand operator interface but my horizontal space is limited, so it would be preferrable to grow buttons vertically instead of horizontally.

    Upon further investigation, it looks like this is a bug (or a "feature change") in TestStand 4.0.  The TestStand 3.5 UI button control automatically placed text on succesive lines if the width of the button decreased below the size required to accomodate all of the caption text on a single line.  However, this is no longer the case in TestStand 4.0.  TestStand 4.0 does not place text on successive lines when the button size decreases below the threshold.  I cannot figure out any way to place button captions on multiple lines using the 4.0 UI button control, including setting the caption programmatically with a carriage return inserted between successive text lines.

    erm ok i will explain...
    actually..i know that labview can be a client or server. when the labview be a client, it can access other enable activeX application such as excel or word. i manage to do that a little such as to open excel file and save it at another location by using activeX functions or using the report generation toolkit. yes, i already know and understand the flow or concept of how the labview can be a client. But by using others activeX application especially excel, how can we make the labview be a server? i just need a very easy example and few steps for me to understand how can labview be a server or how excel can control the labview properties?
    really desperate to increase new knowledge.....:-)

    String comparisons can get weird.  If you accidentally add some white space or start a new line that you can't see, then the comparison will be way off.  Instead of using a string, you might want to use an Enum instead.  This will make sure you have very defined inputs and the user can't screw it up nearly as easily.
