Lag every 10 seconds

Had infinity installed yesturday morning and all was fine. Tried playing some games in the everning and getting lag spikes every 10 seconds which is making playing impossible. Checked again this morning and it is still there.
Any idea on whats going on?. Am away for the weekend but i hope it would of settled by the time i get back on monday

Sounds like my problem also check your dsl light does that drop out also.

Why is it that on every Mac I've ever owned Quicktime cannot play a video without it lagging every 5 seconds???

Seriously, I've used Macs for 2 decades and if theres one persistent problem it's quicktime playback. Not matter how big or small the video, it can never play a video with consistent lagging. Same videos play flawlessly in VLC.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Cisco Linksys E1000 - Lag Spike about every 10 seconds.

Hopefully this is the right place to ask such a question. I recently purchased a Cisco Linksys router, as I was having problems with the main connection and my computer. The router works almost fine and acts as a bridge between the original router, and my computer.
I have a Westell Versalink plugged into the DSL phone cord. The Versalink is connected to my Cisco router, and the Cisco router is connected to my computer... All using cables.
Basically, it's Versalink -> Cisco -> Computer.
It works almost great, except I keep receiving huge lag spikes every 10 seconds, when trying to run something that requires a constant connection. (In my case, a game. It will lag every 10 seconds.)
I'm not sure I setup the Cisco router to properly work the way I want it to, thus the lag.
It used to be far worse, but I setup the PPoP login on the Cisco router independent of the fact that it's already connected on the Versalink.
I need some advice on how to eliminate this lag so I can get a steady and smooth connection.
Before anyone starts giving me Wireless advice, this has NOTHING to do with the Wireless portion, that works fine. (But probably would experience the same lag.)
This is happening regardless, and I need it fixed.
Yet again, I'll type out my layout here:
DSL / Phone -> Versalink -> Cisco Router -> Computer
I believe the problem exists in the Cisco router. I'm amazed that I was even able to get it to work how I did to begin with. However, I need some additional help.

I would do a little more research on the internet regarding ALL Cisco Linksys routers... the issue you are seeing is normal of thier routers right now.. and one they have not been willing to fix... The Linksys router you have ... in reality is actually the WRT160N with a few tweaks in the firmware... If you look at the specs, the E1000 is not the best router to play your video games with or HD Movies... you really wanted the E3000
BUT .... that also has that same issue as well but more pronounced... as well as over heating... if you take your router off you will see the lag goes away.

Thuderbolt Cable Issue, Lags Every Minute

Hey,
Bought a thunderbolt HDMI cable for 30 bucks from best buy. Want to connect my laptopto TVs and such. First time I used it, was fine. Watched some videos. Second time, every minute or so, the bottom portion of my macbook, the dock, would become visible for a moment as the video lagged on the TV. Wouldn't stop happening. Returned the cable, got a new one. Same problem. I assume I need to change some kind of setting, like refresh rate or something. The dock thing isn't happening too much anymore. Now, the video just looks to be lagging every 30 seconds, like the screen will freeze for a moment. It's not my macbook, it's the cable. Any one know what's going on?
It annoys me that I go out and buy a cable SPECIFICALLY made for my apple product, yet something's up with the settings... Seems to be a recurring problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe OS 10.10.2 is causing my mac to freeze every few seconds.

For the last two weeks or so, my MacBook Pro (2011) has been freezing every few seconds. I can barley type this now. When I pull up Activity Monitor, it shows my memory running at 3.0+ out of 4 GB's. I've tried everything I could think of. My Mac is more of a internet surfing comp so I didn't mind reinstalling OS. It worked great for about 30 minutes then everything started to freeze again. Im curious if anyone else is having this issue and if anyone's figured out how to fix it. I ran a diagnostic on my ram and thats not the issue. Im to the point of upgrading my ram but i think it's dumb reverting to that when the 4 GB has been plenty for me in the past.

Lag spikes every few seconds

I am having lag spikes on both wired and wireless connections which give 1200-2500 ms ping spikes every 20 seconds or so. I have reset the router and also ping tested connection to the router which yields >1ms. I pinged the League of Legends server twice as shown from the link: http://prntscr.com/80xxam one gave a fine ping, then moments later a ping spike. Nothing online can be done without these interruptions or being kicked from servers. I have also done a speed test which says everything is fine, but that is obviously not the case. I had this problem on Windows 7 and I am now running Windows 10 with the problem still there. The Wireless Gateway I have is TG862, so drivers/firmware should all be the most up to date. Can you tell me if its something from Comcast side or if I'm missing something? Thanks in advance.

Why is firefox lagging and pausing every few seconds on mac os x

I have a brand new iMac running Snow Leopard with 8GBs of RAM. I've been using Firefox 3.6 for a few days and its acting up. Every few seconds it will pause , nothing will move. For example when I'm scrolling, typing, clicking on something. A few seconds will go by until it finally will respond to my input.
I read somewhere else that if you go the the firefox profiles folder and delete sessionstore.js should solve the problem. So I quit firefox and delete that file. And it will be normal for several hour or a day. After a lot of use the same problem happens.
Please anyone, if you know what the problem could be, please help. It's super annoying.

This issue has been driving me nuts for months, ever since I upgraded from 3.* (I don't update very often). Thinking it was just a bug in the latest version, I updated all the way to the current 'latest version', with absolutely no change in this behaviour (if anything it got worse). Tried disabling all addons, it was a *bit* better but still noticeable and irritating, and besides, what use is FF without addons?
Adjusting the session save interval to once an hour (3600000) seems to have reduced or eliminated *most* of the hang-ups, making FF much more usable again! Thank you for giving me my browser back!
(FYI, FF 5.0 running on XP - told you I don't update very often! :)

Mouse sputters every few seconds

I just got a brand new customized Mac Pro direct from Apple. Every few seconds, there is a delay in mouse input, but instead of just stopping, the cursor "jumps" across the screen. This would normally not be a huge problem, but in intricate tasks like 3D art or gaming, it's an incredibly serious issue. I've tried a wireless USB mouse, a wired USB mouse, the "Magic Mouse", and several different mousepads. It happens regardless of whether I'm connected to the internet. How can I figure out what the problem is? Does this issue affect anyone else?

After some troubleshooting I have determined that the monitor was causing the issue.
Running Activity Monitor showed me that on systems that were experiencing the mouse lag the "kernel_task" process would fluctuate between 7 and 14 percent. On systems that were not experiencing the lag the "kernel_task" would max at about 6 percent but usually was settled in below 1 percent.
A co-worker and I began disconnecting devices and watching the "kernel_task" cpu usage. When we disconnected the monitor I observed the computer with ARD and noticed that "kernel_task" dropped to a sub 1% range. When we reconnected the monitor it shot back up.
We swapped the monitor with one that was connected to a system not experiencing the issue. Once we connected the monitors to their new systems BOTH systems were stable. This led us to power. We determined that turning the monitor off and back on did not help the issue, but actually disconnecting the power from the monitor did restore "kernel_task" to a happy, stable state. This solution has now been repeated on the remaining symptomatic computers and it "fixed" all of them (not sure if it is a permanent fix or if this is going to reoccur)
Specs: Mid-2010 Mac Pro, Radeon 5870. Connected to a Dell SX2210b via DVI cable.

Firefox Hanging Every Few Seconds

I just installed brand new Firefox 25.0.1 on a Mac Mini (running Mountain Lion 10.8.2) just two weeks ago, and since day one I've been having the same problem that lots of other people are having, and that's the constant half-second delays that happen about every 4 to 5 seconds. Even typing this post, the delays are there. Pulling down menus and selecting items, trying to move the scroll bar, or playing youtube videos, Firefox keeps hanging briefly every few seconds. It's maddening.
I never had any problem with Apple's Safari browser (the only reason I switched to Firefox was because Safari Ad Block stopped working and I needed Download Helper). That this problem exists on PC and Mac means it's nothing specific to the computer, but to Firefox.
What I wish would not be given the same generic advice that never seems to work, like reinstall Firefox (it was already installed cleanly, what would a reinstall do?), but have somebody at Mozilla actually explain what is causing the problem, or if they plan to ever fix it.
So far I only have a temporary fix, which is to completely quit out of Firefox and re-run it. That solves the problem for a little while, but within an hour or two, or three, it's back to the same problem. There are plenty of other threads that mention this or similar problems (see below), but all seem to be on PC's not Macs, and none seem to give a 100% universal fix for everybody.

Skype makes computer stutter every few seconds

Sometimes this happens right away and other times it takes a few minutes but when I'm on a video call and only on a video call skype makes my computer start skipping or stuttering every few seconds. If I get my girlfriend to wave her hand on skype u can see the video pause for a split second every few seconds which also happens to anything I'm doing on the computer anywhere.
I've installed and uninstalled skype but nothing helps.
I have the brand new 2015 Macbook pro with broadwell processor. I've also used skype on the 2014 Macbook pro retina and it does the exact same thing. I never could get it to work right. My girlfriend has an old poopy 2012 macbook pro with no retina and she doesn't seem to have the issue. She has Yosemeti installed just like I do.
My processor runs about 40% usage in activity monitor. As you know 40% is only for one of the cores I assume since it can go way above 100% when check the activity monitor for whatever reason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Don't want to get rid of a mac b/c of this one issue.

I'm having the same problem, and I don't understand what started causing it. I assume it's the last two releases of Skype that I've upgraded to, because I don't remember this occurring on such annoyingly frequent level. I am running Windows 7 home premium x64, 4GB memory, Intel celeron 1.60 GHz.
It's very disappointing to see how with every new version of it, instead of fixing things and making the overall performance better, it seems to become worse. After Skype 6.9, every version has started increasing the resources used, and now thanks to skype, my laptop starts to freeze when I'm in a video call and try to watch a youtube video, or open a website. The CPU jumps to 100%, then drops a little, but it keeps a steady 50-70 % during the call, which is HUGE. And before someone suggests I buy a laptop with a more powerful processor, I'll say that just a few months ago it was working perfectly well, so the solution shouldn't be taxing to MY budget, surely!
I wish there was a chance to downgrade to a previous version, but no, you took that option away too, God forbid someone misses the ad-saturated versions, full of lagging and stuttering, constant freezing of the camera and constant "connecting" message, saying the internet connection is slow, or there is a problem with it, when in fact the Internet connection is perfectly fine and fast. What gives???

Macbook pro lagging every 5 minutes!! help!!

hello so i've had my macbook pro for almost a year now!! never had a problem with it until about two weeks ago. i was watching a video on youtube and all of a sudden noticed the video was lagging so bad!! the speech was out, it was pausing every 2 seconds so i just thought it was buffering or my internet was being funny!! so i left it and came back to my macbook later to continue watching the video... about 10 minutes into the video after thinking it was fine, it wont stop freezing again?? i thought it must be my connection or something so i just stopped streaming videos and just went to browse on normal pages on the internet like tumblr, twitter, facebook etc. and it continued to lag without any form of video or audio to make it lag?
i was getting really annoyed because ive never had a single problem with my macbook until just recently so i shut down my macbook. i came to it the next day with the same problem, none stop lag!! it will be fine for a while but then randomly start lagging when im doing the simplest things like scrolling down a page or even typing something? it was getting beyond a joke so i decided to restore my laptop back to factory settings (i was using os x mavericks which i upgraded to a few months ago) when i restored my laptop back to factory settings somehow it went back to os x lion (the latest version that is) so i thought that would've done the trick since all my files were erased (I HAD A LOT OF FREE SPACE IN THE FIRST PLACE SO THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM!!)
so i set up my macbook as if it was new and guess what? the lagging continues, i dont know how i have been coping for about two weeks. it is so laggy i cant explain how hard it is to do simple tasks!!! i have considered taking it to the apple store/repair on multiple occasions but my warranty has expired so i don't want to pay for something that i may be able to fix (somehow??)

what ive tried to do to make it less slow:
restored it back to factory settings
not used it for a few days
changed the browser i was using (tried every single browser there is at this point)
let the battery completely drain
i also noticed my laptop is getting VERY hot at the bottom!! i can feel it getting so hot but im using it on my desk i guess it would be understandable if i was on my bed where my laptops getting no air?? so i decided to download "smcfancontrol" the temperature is usually on 70-80 when im just browsing through the internet, but when im watching videos or listening to music it'll go up to about 90 something... and obviously gets even hotter so i thought that it may be overheating? but i want a second person opinion!!

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Small clock that appears every few seconds

hi! i just had my first bb - curve 9300.. i must've done something in the settings or something, cause there's this annoying small clock that keeps appearing every few seconds, which makes my phone work slowly, how do i remove it? thanks!!

To prevent freezing or lagging/slow response on any BlackBerry, the most important practice you can adopt is to be sure to CLOSE applications when you are finished using them.
If you just hit the red "end call" key to go back to the home screen the application actually stays open and running in the background. If you do this repeatedly you will have lots of apps open and consequently your memory will get used up. Lack of memory is the biggest reason your BlackBerry slows to a crawl or locks up. If you get into the habit of actually using the menu key to close the applications this will at least slow down this memory-clogging process. You still may have to do a battery pull or use the "Quickpull" app once in a while when things get slow.
To check what applications are running on your device in the background, press the Menu key then choose Switch Applications. You will see the icons of each application there.
So now, check your applications running in the background. There are commonly four or five applications that will always be running (Messages, Call Logs/Phone, BlackBerry Messenger, Homescreen, and the Browser; there are other third party applications such as BeeJive, and BlackBerry Alerts which will also run in the background which you cannot close if you want them to operate). Make certain that the browser is NOT on an active webpage (open the browser and choose Menu > Close). Close any other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps).

Problem with MacMail on MacBook Air - mail with 32MB attachment appearing in "recovered messages" folder every 12 seconds

Problem with MacMail on MacBook Air
3 days ago I failed to send a mail with a large (32MB) attachment - and it is no longer in my outbox, draft mails or sent file.
BUT a copy of this same mail now appears every about 15 seconds in my "recovered messages" folder
I noticed when I received a system error saying I had a disk almost full issue - there were over 580 copies of the mail with 32MB attachment in the "recovered messages file"
I deleted them all, and deleted the Trash
BUT the message still keeps re-appearing every 15 seconds or so. So I keep deleting them.
Since then I have not been able to receive mail (altho' I am able to send) and Mail is VERY slow
I am running MAC OS X 10.6.8
I am running Mail version 4.6 (1085)

Also here's the log before it happened. As you can see there is no activity from 9:48 to 10:00 am when the sound occurred.

My macbook pro screen blinks every 10 seconds

Is there any solution for a blinking screen?
Seems to be blinking about every 10 seconds, makes it very had to compose an email as when it blinks i will lose my typing ability.
I think it started around the time of the last OS upgrade.
Has anyone else experianced this problem?

I have the same issue with mine and sadly I missed the date to get Applecare on this machine (they usually call but this time around they didn't). ***** that I didn't get this resolved before my warranty ran out .. I'm certainly not going to shell out for a replacement motherboard out of pocket. I now use the 9600 graphics exclusively and can almost watch my battery drop by the minute.
On a side note I'm not very impressed with the quality control Apple has had with their portables in the last few years. I bought this unit refurbished and it took two units to get one that worked properly, and even then this one never did as it's had this video blinking issue since day one. The problem is I didn't really notice it until recently when I started using it running more often on battery and decided to use the mobile chipset to save battery time. This is the third MBP I've had and their 3rd MBP that's had motherboard issues.
When it comes time to replace this one I'm seriously considering going with a macbook air or something else. Can't justify spending the money on more MBP's with such terrible track records.
