Language setting problem

Hi,
I am using the following RegionProperties to set the language to English. But for some reason, some of the tables / fields listed are not in English.
  public static RegionProperties getRegion()throws CommandException
     RegionProperties regionProperties = new RegionProperties();
     regionProperties.setLocale(Locale.ENGLISH);
     regionProperties.setName("English US");
     regionProperties.setRegionCode("engUSA");
     return regionProperties;
Here is the list of table names that I am returned. This is not in English.
Table Name
Code d'activite¿ pour assurance sociale
Prestataire de transport
Branches
Groupes de comptes
Fonctions de blocage
Nº de TVA intracommunautaire
Coordonne¿es bancaires
Code S.M.
Re¿gions
Sexe
Can anyone tell me what is that I am doing wrong.
Thanks
Sudheer

Hi Sudheer,
Just recheck the MDM repository properties in MDM Console.
Check to see that no Multilingual property has been set for the Repository under use or any fields or tables in the structure.
Make sure that the repository language is set to English in console.
Hope It Helped
Thanks & Regards

  • Language setting problem in globalization of application

    hello,
I had an assignment of Globalizing a application from English to Italian language(based on browser language preference)
I have successfully translated my htmldb application to Italian from english.
i.e I exported the XLIFF file of the application and than translated it and uploaded it and then published the application.
The translation is working absolutely fine when I set the Primary language to Italian.
But thats not the proper way as the Primary language should be English.
But if I set the primary language to English and set the browser language to Italian it shows the translated text properly but the templates for the region and items are
    not displayed.
I am not able to make it out.
I have followed all the steps given in Oracle HTMLDB 2.0 user documentation
    (Chapter 15), but
am not able to work it out.
    Please kindly help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sanjay.

    hi,
I have successfully exported and imported translations.
It is also working fine but the problem is with "edit globalization attributes".
In this we have to set primary language to the application
and there are 5 options as:
    1) No NLS (Application not translated)
    2)Use Application primary Language
    3) Browser (use browser language preference)
    4) Application preference(use_FSP_LANGUAGE_PREFERENCE)
    5)Item Preference?(use item containing preference)
Now when i am making primary language as italian the application is running successfully but that is wrong because app. primary language should be English in which it is made.
Now when i am choosing 3rd option (browser based) the application is not showing images(or templates) only it
    is displaying the translated text.
So please tell me how to set these settings so that the application can be run successfully in both the languages.
Please kindly help me in this.
    thanks
    sanjay.

    hi there!
turning off the power from the front panel switches off your phone meaning you cannot make any communication, the inner screen will not shutdown at this point..if you want a full reboot you have to take out the battery and then put it back and thats how a communicator reboots (S80), however u can also do a reboot without taking out the battery and u need a third party app for this, there's an application called rebooter (google it) which basically reboots the phone. hope that helps...

  • No English language setting with European date formatting available

The English language setting in my iPod bought in Finland forces date format to the American MM/DD/YYYY style. There is no English language setting that would result in the European DD.MM.YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY format.
Either making date formatting separately configurable (as time formatting already is), or adding another English locale with European-style date formatting solves this problem.

Yes I agree, date format should be language independant. This is very annoying!

  • Where is the language setting in pages 5.0?

please can someone tell me where is the language setting in page 5.0. this is for the purpose of spell check, for example, change british english to american english, the word "personalized" is red-underlined because the current setting is in british english, how can i fix this? thanks.

hmm this seems like to resolve the problem only temporarily.
when i shut down pages and reopens, it jumps back to the british spelling. how can i make this fixed to the american spelling?

  • About language setting in owb 11gr2

I have a problem in the owb language setting, that all the message of error codes can not be correctly displayed.
    It reads like this:
    XOQ-01400: ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
Maybe that's because my OS is in Chinese version, so Oracle or owb chooses by default to output the message in Chinese, which could not be correctly displayed.
Is there anyway I can change the output error message language to English? Is this an issue with Oracle language setting or owb language setting or both? Thanks very much for your kind help.

    Hi Carsten,
Thanks for your help. I tried your approach, but it does not apply to my case. I guess it's because the messages were not encoded in English when they were generated from the server side, so merely changing the client side ide setting is not enough.
I wonder if there is a way to change the language setting on the server side, but I don't want to reinstall Oracle or OWB, which is an onerous task and causes loss of data.

  • Foreign language setting??

It seems crazy, but I can't figure out how to put pages into a setting so that I can write in Spanish without red underlining every word...there MUST be a way...right?
If you have any idea how to change the language setting, PLEASE let me know! It would be much appreciated :):)
Also -- does anyone know anything about getting a word count?
    Thanks!
    Julie

"Same problem, but where is "inspector > text > more > language" ?"
    Short form of:
Click the Inspector button to open the Inspector window.
Click the Text button (T) in the Inspector window to open the Text Inspector.
Click the More button to expand the Text Inspector.
Choose the desired language using the popup menu in the Language section of the expanded Text Inspector.

  • Language setting of browser and Application Primary Language

    Hi,
my browser is currently set to German, that's why the APEX builder is also displayed in German. Brrr, I like development environments when they are not displayed in English - sometimes you don't understand this translations :-)
But my problem now is that I have created an application and set the Application Primary Language to English (en).
I would now assume that all the text APEX is creating during wizard actions will be created in the Application Primary Language and not in the language the browser is currently set to. But all the text is created in the browser language!!!
I think that's not a good behavior, because if you have a multi user/multi country development, the developers have to change there browser settings so that we get a consistent application. But to archive that I have set the primary language for the application.
    Patrick
    Check out my APEX-blog: http://inside-apex.blogspot.com

    Patrick,
The resulting "defaults" strings which are displayed/used in the wizards should be Estonian, because that's my primary language of the application. Does it really make sense to show them in English/German, ...? Because the result language of the application should be Estonian.A) And how exactly will the Builder obtain the Estonian translation of these strings or of the translation of these strings into any of the hundreds of other languages we know nothing about?
I think the answer is that the Builder should maintain an awareness of the language setting of the application being developed. During the generation of possibly translatable text, the wizards should use a translated message for that text/language if: a) the language is one of the ten languages in which we make the Builder application available, and b) the developer has installed that "language version" of the Builder application (even if they are running a different language version at the time of text generation). If either condition does not hold, then the text should be generated in the Builder's primary language (en-us).
The builder is no genius (or not yet ;-) ), so that's up to the developers when they are changing the primary language during development.B) I don't understand your point (what is up to the developers?). The point I was trying to make was that even if we concede that generated text from the Builder should ideally be in the language that is the current primary language setting of the application being developed, the Builder would not be able to make that accommodation during the execution of the portion of the Create Application wizard that creates pages (with generated text in some language) because this occurs beore the language selection is made. Of course, the answer is that the Create Application wizard should be changed to allow the language to be selected before any text can be generated. Wizards would then be able to generate text in the appropriate language according to the rules proposed in (A).
Why does the builder/wizard not use substitution strings (eg. #APPLY_CHANGES#, #NO_DATA_FOUND#) for this type of default text instead? This would result in "code" in areas of the metadata from which translation strings would be extracted into the XLIFF file. Translators would ignore this code so the ultimate translated application (and the primary) would need a repository in which to hold the desired text for each language to be supported and a method with which to dynamically lookup the translated text at runtime. I don't believe the current architecture supports this (apart from the fact that we don't currently do it this way) and I think the performance implications could be significant, but I could be mistaken on both points.
Wouldn't it help to translate the application too?I don't understand this suggestion.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Nokia 5300 chinese language setting missing

My phone is Nokia 5300 Express Music. The first time i'm using Nokia PC Suite, going to update some software. The software is firewall update. After updated, i realized my phone language setting is changed. Chinese and Malay language is gone and others language like romana, deutsch and something else was appear. I think maybe is the software updated so the language setting also changed. So i might need help to change the language setting back to chinese cause i need chinese language to use for my phone book in chinese words.
Anyone is know about any software to help me fix my problem???
Hope to hear some good advice and help from nokia supporter.
    Thanks & Regard!

Your phone was intended for sale in a part of the world other than where you are. The importer/retailer installed the appropriate language packs for you but didn't tell you that this was the case. If you have a gripe against anyone, it's against the importer/retailer.
We can't direct you to the Nokia care points for your country because we don't know what your country is. What you can do is go to http://www.nokia.com and follow directions to support for your country from there.

I have the dutch version of ibooks author (i think). I can find the language setting for text and i can change the language in OS X v 10.7 Lion.

What is the problem exactly?  You have selected the text and set the Language to English in the Inspector but it keeps checking the text as if it were Dutch?

  • Win Ce 5 Language setting

I'm working on a project using windows CE 5.0 Target. My problem is i want to change the fonts and language setting of the target programmably from labview can anybody help me how to do this i'm using Labview 2009 TPC.

You will have to access the Win32 API on Windows CE to do that. If Windows CE supports your desired language will be another thing to find out first. This OS is like 10 years old or so and I can't remember anymore how well it was in supporting multiple languages.

  • How do I change the language setting in itunes

I'm sure this is a very basic question but I just can't seem to find anywhere to change the language setting. I live in Japan but would rather use itunes in English as I've twice now deleted my entire phone book on my iphone and had to go to an old backup. I suppose I should just have my girlfriend keep setting it up like the first time but I thought the whole point of apple crap is that even a nitwit newbie like me should be able to figure out how to use it.
wondering if I should have just stayed with good old Japanese cel phones...
    gartheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

that was indeed astoundingly easy. Well one less excuse next time I delete my phone book...
    thanks very much!
