Language Translation in Report
hi all,
we are working on implementing SAP across 4 countries and server is central. Now my requirement is, in some of the reports which are developed for use in all these countries, in those reports user wants display in their own local language (user's Logon Language). I can convert the text elements for column headings etc. using menupath GOTO-->Translation also i can fetch data from some tables which has language field SPRAS in it (say MAKT table for Material Description) by passing SY-LANGU field in query. so far it is ok.
NOw I want to know that how can I translate the Value of the fields which are of type C in data dictionary table (e.g. BNAME field in VBAK table) ,b'coz VBAK doesn't have SPRAS or any language fields and still i have to translate it in 4 diff languages.
My Problem is i want to translate the value of table field at run-time i want to do this translation in my program after i fetch that table field vaule in Internal table of my program and before displaying that value in output.
hope my question is clear to u...
Regards,
Parth

Different languages in a report
Hello Everyone,
I would to like to know a way to find the different languages which a report has been translated in.
Does anyone know how to do this? In any table? With a function module?
Many thanks in advanceHi,
I would to like to know which languages have been translated for some reports. So I don't need it inside the code, I would need a transaction, a function or a table in order to check it.
Many thanks -
Language Translation in BW3.5
Hi All,
We have a requirement to display user interface/reports in Spanish language. We are working on BW 3.5.
I am trying to set up the translation environment following the link on sdn http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ad/06dcf4c4be11d291c70000e8a5f6e6/frameset.htm
I have done the setup for Target Language, Translation Client, Translation Graph, Object Types for Translation and Translator Profiles. Next step is to Assign Packages.
As per the steps given in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ad/06dcf4c4be11d291c70000e8a5f6e6/frameset.htm:
1. Call up transaction SLWA.
2. Select your target language under the tab title Target language.
3. Choose the tab title Packages.
4. You first need to select the packages that you want to assign to a translator.
5. You can now see the number of packages you have selected under Selection.
6. Choose Assign from the application toolbar.
A dialog box appears containing a list of all the translators that are defined for the target language you have selected.
However at the sixth step, to assign packages for translation, the only options I see are: Lock, Translate, Package Info and Lock globally. I do not see a 'Assign' button as mentioned in the online help.
Does anyone have an idea? I am not able to proceed further without assigning packages. Your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Language Translation in Xcelsius based on Infoview language settings
Hi,

The client wants to view the Dashboard in French.
Also, the client donu2019t want to have 2versions of the dashboard i.e. in English and French.
Please let me know if there is any issues.
ThanksHi,
Thanks for your quick reply.
Can you please tell me the workarounds that needs to be done here.
I have a single WebI Report where based on the Infoview preferences setting the report displays either in English or French.
Let me know how to do the same in Xcelsius Dashboard. In Excel do we have any such function? -
Graphics in Language Translation
Platform: WinXP 64-bit / Adobe CS5 Design Premium
Hi,
Is there a preferred method for handling graphics (and leaders/callouts) in InDesign for language translation? And while I'm at it, ditto for content reuse.
I realize that translation & single-sourcing are two gigantic topics so I'll keep this question basic. In the screenshot I pasted below, the top graphic was done in Illustrator - including the leaders and callouts - and pasted as a whole into InDesign.
The bottom graphic was placed into InDesign minus the leaders & callouts, which were then added directly in InDesign.
We are looking into translating our manuals into four or five languages; being new to this, we'd like to know if one method of placing graphics/leaders/callouts is better than the other to facilitate language translation.
As far as single-sourcing goes, I'm at a loss as to which would work better. If I select a callout that was added in InDesign and view it in the story editor, obviously only that callout shows up. Any callouts are assigned a paragraph style; I've imported docbook & started creating a mapping of paragraph styles to basic xml tags. Ok the more I look at this babble I'm going to nix this part of the question...
If you've dealt with graphics & callouts in language translations (successfully or not) I would love to hear from you. Thanks!
DanFirst off - as usual, Bob is dead right about XP64. InDesign isn't the only relevant application to be known to be wonky on XP64 - most of the the translation memory tools I've used have also been reported to behave in unpredictable ways on XP64. However, when InDesign drops the ball, you can tell - this is not always the case when your Chinese text (that you can't read) is slowly being corrupted by your TM tool.
Anyways, I am the nerd-of-all-trades in a language service provider, and I'd have to say that the answer to your question would require some serious investigation into your workflow - investigation that, to be completely frank, would only be worthwhile to someone who was going to get paid at the end. First you'd have to ask the question "Are we jobbing the whole deal out to a third party, or are we going to do some of the work in-house?" This has a sheaf of attendant questions ("Are we relying on our language service provider to maintain translation memories for us, or are we going to do it ourselves?" "To what extent do we already have the linguistic expertise in-house?" "To what extent are our layout jockeys going to want to learn to manage this stuff?") and each one of those answers leads to a decision-tree that requires still more answers in order to get to answers.
I deal with all kinds of files, some built with XML-driven content management in mind, others made by people who learned on Publisher and draw a separate text box for each paragraph. Each kind of document-construction strategy has advantages and drawbacks, and "where are the captions?" is surprisingly deep. You could use the Captions feature in ID - but that kind of in-ID automation has consequences for the translation team, depending on whether they're using a translation tool to process the IDML files, or if they're working directly in ID, or if they're threading stories and running text out in RTF format, or if they're checking out stories with InCopy or etc. etc. etc.
Big tech-translation firms have the resources to start answering these questions for you, because they want your money. If you know how far you're going to go w/r/t outsourcing vs. in-house content management, start shopping around and their sales guys will happily promise you all kinds of impossible services. If you want an independent point of view, you actually want someone to sit down with you, closely examine your current monolingual workflow, discuss the linguistic resources you want to bring to bear on it, and then think about how you're doing your captions. Just don't do your images as TIFFs so the poor ol' DTP jockey has to open up 1000 tech diagrams in Photoshop and manually erase the rasterized captions and re-make 'em in Illy or ID; that way you won't rack up unnecessary DTP charges.
But, with all three paragraphs of disclaimer above, I can say this: You'll most likely (uhh, 80% chance?) be better off if you can keep all of your text in final layout format in a single application. That might be InDesign, or frankly, it might be FrameMaker. -
Help in BO WebI XI3.1 Input Control using language Translation
Hello All,
Need a help in BO WebI XI3.1 regarding Language Translation for Input Control.
Input Control has been defined in the Report.
The report is built in English language. The requirement here is to convert the report to French based on the Infoview Preferences.
Language pack has been installed and also used Translation Manager tool to convert the report variables.
All the fields including variables, column names, etc in the report has been changed to French. But the Input Control label could not be changed.
Please let me know if there is a solution/workaround for the label to be changed.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance..
Best Regards
SreekanthHi,
Thanks for your quick reply.
After the language locale in The Infoview Preferences the label is not getting changed.
Please let me know if there is any other solution since this is very critical requirement.

Hi,
I would just like to confirm that it is still not possible to show three languages in one report.
We have description fields (segments of an account combination) that should have English values for the English language, Hebrew for the Hebrew language, and Russian for the Russian language. However, sometimes the Users did not translate the segement descriptions and we can have English descriptions for the Hebrew language, Hebrew for the English values, English for the Russian values etc.
The problem is that in running a report in Hebrew, the report shows, of course, all the descriptions that are in the Hebrew language field. That is fine if it is English or Hebrew, but if it is Russian then we just get squares.
If the report is in Russian, then all the Russian and English values are fine, but the Hebrew descriptions are just squares.
In summary, the values shown will always be in English and whatever language was requested while the third language (Hebrew or Russian) will be squares. Is there possibly now a way to retrieve whatever value is in the field no matter what language is used? We have Discoverer 10g (1.2.3), PLUS (10.1.2.55.26)
Thank you.

How to translate ABAP report documentation
Hi to everybody
Today I've applied a OSS note, where was required also to create a Report documentation using SE38 transaction.
Of course I've applied the note and create the required documentation in EN language.
Now because teh Report it's an Italian FI localization I need to translate teh Report in IT language.
Using SE38 is possible translate all Text-elements, but is not possibible provide a transaltion of Report documentation.
I've tried to use SE63 as suggested in many discussions, but when I try to translate the RE object documentation instead the long text
I can see this instruction:
/: INCLUDE ZRFIDITBLIST OBJECT DOKU ID TX LANGUAGE E
Can somebody explain how is possible to provide a transalation of this object in another language ?
Thanks for your help.
ClaudioHi Claudio,
Firstly make sure your abap documentation is in active version for English language. Then go to SE63 > Translation -> ABAP Objects -> Long Texts -> L5 -> Choose Reports, Function Groups, Logical Databases and proceed the translation.
Thanks

Language Translate in Transport Request
Hello,
I translated one of ZREPORT from English to German,in this way GOTO-Translation-and required language, I activated and saved in Transport request. Now my doubt is that language translation is automatically saved in the transport order.Becasue when i check in dev server it is displaying fine in German. In quality it is not dispaying in German.
What could be the reason.
Thank You for your help.
Regards,
Anil.DHello Anil,
yes, we can see only the report text and report name in transport request.
But when you assign a new request for the same report or report text , and after that translating the text , then all the translations will move to the same request , Nowhere in SAP you are able to c the translation texts in a request.
So Assign a new request and translate them , Activate them and release.

XLF - Language Translations Migrations Problem
Hi
We are trying to upload XLF files for language translations using the following command.
Command is getting executed without any errors and we can see the uploaded translation XLF files from the front end (XML Publisher Administrator/Home/Templates).When we run the report for the languages other than English, Lables are not appearing in the translated language and also the uploaded XLF files have no information of the fields and translated labels.
It just contains the header section.
This is happening only when we try to upload XLF file using XLIFLoader and not the same case when we upload the physical XLF file from the front end. (Templates/Upload translations).
Please help us to resolve the issue ASAP since we can‘t proceed with our migration activities with out
Translation feature.

Sreedhar VakaHi poojith,
thanks for your response,
how can I use this message pool in my code. I know the message pool has been used for warning messages and can be called in the application as wdcomponentAPI.getmessagemanager.reportWarning (.....)..
but in my case it is a checkbox group where fields will be fetched from a database dynamically when we run the application
for (int i = 0; i < abcprp.length; i++) {
ICheckboxGroupElement theElement = wdContext.nodeCheckboxGroup().createCheckboxGroupElement();
strName = abcprp<i>.getName().toString();
theElement.setFieldNames(strName);
wdContext.nodeCheckboxGroup().addElement(theElement);
I have got more than 50 fields which I will get from the above code..
can somebody pls explain me in the above scenario hw can we use the translation

Selection-screen language translation
Hi all,
I have a report which has the selection texts and list headings in English language. When I log in different language let us say Finnish(FI) I am not getting the selection texts and list headings. What should I do to get the Finnish selection texts and list headings at the selection screen when I log in Finnish langauge.
Waiting for replies.....No need to goto SE63 ..Display the report..use menu Goto--Translation ..Select target language for translation.
This will lead to a translation screen. Select the element to be translated & press'Sequential Processing' for translation.
Here you will find all options for translation.
Translation of report involves translation of following elements
Column headers for the list
List header
Selection screen & its elements
Text symbols
Report title

Adding Local Language For BW Reporting
Hi Guru's,
Currently I am working on BW 7, I got the customized data source from ECC6 with language translation in local language but there are yet to be any text, hierachies, master data or characters assigned to it yet in BW.
I would like to add a local language for reporting purpose. So that the user would be able to view the reports in both english and the local langauge.
Anyway by chance had a step by step document on how to do this? How to add the text and how to add the language to enable both eng and local language to be available for reporting?
Cheers
TommyHi,
I hope you wont mind me asking for the steps on how to do this.
The customized data source which i had obtained from the ecc6 is zskat. And the local language which are actually being maintained in the R/3 FI-GL. The following fields in zskat datasource are:
KTOPL Chart of Accounts
MCOD1 Search Term for Matchcode Search
SAKNR G/L Account Number
SPRAS Language Key
TXT20 G/L account short text
TXT50 G/L Account Long Text
If i am not wrong, SPRAS would be the key to the language right? I found that it is in the table T002, but again, how would i know which one would be the correct text?
Since the language translation had been maintained in the source system, i guess i wont need to use the flat file option do i?
Should I find the text data from the source system and load as you had advised? Should I do it through DTP and so on?
Could you show me some steps by steps if possible? Simple one if possible.
Cheers
Tommy
