Laptop starts but shows nothing

I can't see anything but that "startup black colour". I can hear the normal sounds and there is nothing wrong with the keyboard. Even pressing F2 & F3 changes brightness. Also there is no problem when I use an external monitor.
30 s power button press and tightening the display cable didnt work either. So basically, help!!

Ok when the computer loads are you able to see anything on the screen or if you shine a flashlight do you see anything on the display? If you see desktop background this means your backlight is dead and a screen replacement is needed. And since you are able to get ext display this means the problem is isolated to the screen and you have two possible problems
1. The Screen backlight or LED screen is dead
2. The inverter is dead
To be more sure we will also need a P/N to verify your system

I can't download any applications on my macbook pro, it starts but then nothing happens

Every time I try to download any application, for example today I am trying to download Gimp for Mac, the window goes blank and in the browser it looks like it's loading but then nothing comes up. I have tried creating a new user account but the same thing happens when I download in that one. I think it is a system issue but I am not technically minded and so struggle to figure out what is happening. I can download itunes, apps from the app store. But nothing else. Even flashplayer updates don't download. Can someone help me because it is increasingly frustrating! Lightroom 5 will not start but shows as running in task manager?

I'm using Lightroom 5.7 (64 bit) on a Win7 machine and it was working perfectly until a few days ago. Now for reasons unknown to me, it will now not start correctly. According to Task Manager it is running but nothing appears on screen. It shows as a running process using about 15,020k. If I try and end the process it will not stop until I have tried 4 or 5 times.
I have tried renaming the preview file to force it to build a new file, and optimizing the data base and it ran once, said it was checking the catalog, and then reverted to the same behaviour.
If I can get it started I can revert to a backup database.
Help appreciated.

Turns out Lightroom not guilty. The hard drive containing the catalogue was failing and although tests seemed to show it as OK it was actually only reading / writing at a fraction of the correct speed. So Lightroom was taking a long time to read it's own catalogue. It tooks 48 hours to copy 1 gig of data off the disk.

Yes, obviously you will get this "Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time" as the service is not ready to serve your request.
I never told you to create a TNS Name/service name ........ At the time of installation of the Application Server the Universal Installer creates a service name for Reports Server and stores it in the tnsnames.ora of the 9IAS ORACLE_HOME which is, for eg. c:\iasora\app\oracle\product\9ias\6iserver, but the actual $ORACLE_HOME is c:\iasora\app\oracle\product\9ias\ when you start the reports server it will look in the tnsnames.ora in c:\iasora\app\oracle\product\9ias\6iserver\network\admin folder, when it checks for the service name it will not find it and gives an error.
So for this purpose I asked you to copy the parameter in the Reports c:\iasora\app\oracle\product\9ias\6iserver\network\admin\tnsnames.ora and paste it in c:\iasora\app\oracle\product\9ias\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
Did you edit your $ORACLE_HOME/6iserver/conf/6iserver.conf and specified to process the reports by rwcgi60.

My ipod touch 4gen is showing songs but shows nothing under albums or artists. iTunes shows album data. Both iPod and iTunes have up to date software

I have an iPod Touch 4gen. 32gb running iOS 6.1.6. I am seeing only "Songs" on this device the "album" and "artist" are both showing empty. I am running iTunes 12.1.26 and am showing both album and artist information in addition to songs. I have tried syncing with iTunes without success. I'm sort of a noob at this so please be specific. Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

Firefox won't install the latest verison of Adobe Flash. the downloan is normal and the install starts but then nothing actually installs.

The Flash plug installs into Explorer 8 and 9 on the same machine.

The recovey drive. It keeps trying to start but shows error and can not delet it.

I'm sorry to say that I'm confused by what you are trying to explain.
The recovery drive is giving an error. What error are you getting?
You can not delete the recovery drive so that is not something you want to do as it's what is used to recovery your computer in case you have to do a complete system recovery.
How does your printer play into this?
Turn off repair drive that was downloaded? Did you download software?
What model computer are you using?
What operating system?

I have the same problem. I have a white macbook 2010, with mavericks os. I just found my mac not powering on and then I tried to run it on safe mode by holding the shift button but it will turn off seconds after I let go of the shift button. I am able to access the desktop and use it while holding the shift button the whole time. It's a bit slower than before but I figured maybe it's because of holding down shift button.
I went to the Apple Store to have them look at my mac and I was told it's a failed hard disk. I wasn't told why he was able to conclude that a failed hard disk is causing the problem, I was just told to get a replacement. But the thing is when I ran Disk Utility it says, "disk appears to be okay." So I also feel like it's possible it's not a hard disk issue because it's also the first time it happened. My mac was working perfectly fine before all this.
Do you know anything else that could cause this problem? Were you able to find out what's wrong?

MSI GE70 Laptop will start but won't boot

I've had my GE70 for almost two and a half years now and it has recently started to show a few problems.
A couple weeks ago the laptop started to freeze whenever I moved it too abruptly, particularly when holding/pressing the case near where the HDD is installed.
Now, I took it on a trip with me, and when I tried to turn it on, the fan would spin, the CD/DVD drive would run, and the power light would also turn on, but it wouldn't boot (won't even get to BIOS, just a black screen). The laptop doesn't boot because capslock/numlock lights do not turn on. The HDD seems to be working because its light blinks once as soon as I try to turn it on.
I've tried:
1. Swapping memory card slots
2. Removing the memory cards and turning on (motherboard does not beep, is that a signal that something's wrong with the motherboard?)
3. Reseting the EC
However, nothing seems to work. Can't send it to a MSI repair shop because I am currently living in Brazil and apparently there's no MSI official repairer here.
Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

Try to remove all the storage devices and see if you can enter the BIOS menu.
If not, then it's likely that sending it to the service center will be your only hope.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

IE works, Firefox has no connection- no error message- just continues to say "new tab" and "go to a website," when something is entered, it thinks for a moment, but then nothing happens. Chrome shows error 137 and safari cant find internet.

Firefox and Chrome stopped working for apparently no reason. IE works. Have tried proxys, firewalls, and restarting. NOTHING WORKS. Firefox is the oddest as there are no error messages, but just shows practically no movement. Only movement is a quick "loading spin" in the address bar, but then nothing. The tab continues to read "new tab" and the address bar says whatever site I typed in, but goes no where. Chrome shows error 137 if that helps.

It's not just you, I can't authorise my phone. It seemed to go down just after I started the update (it wasn't my fault though). I am using chrome, and it does not seem to be a firewall issue, or the bannerblock issue that I read about else where, since I dont have that program installed. for example: say i write a paragraph. then, in a weird some sort of way an involuntary gap suddenly appears between different letters of random words(i did not recognize any pattern to the gap appearing) throughout the entire paragraph. once i've double clicked on that paragraph, and made a minor change, lets say tapped a 'space' key, and then clicked ctrl+z to undo, it has aligned(or fixed) the entire paragraph and made it look ok again. i've tried numerous ways to undo the entire thing, but cannot find the reason. i've been working for a few years and there's no reason why this thing all of a sudden should happen right now.
if anyone has stumbled on something like that and can advise, i would welcome it.

I have removed now all bloatware from laptop, CCleaner run and some more stuff: installed Libre Office, Free Avast, Mozilla Firefox - Spotify was preinstalled. And now this is even better - really simple and fast.
I also removed Ethernet completely, as I don't want to be locked at one place. It's not cool to use laptop on divan sofa. So tired after hour of sitting in uncool position. Wifi speed loss is almost 50%. 95 Mbps I get from 100 Mbps at Ethernet and on Wifi in laptop I get at max 50 Mbps. It's only for end this year this way, then I will slow down my connection anyway as for one person and laptop/smartphone it's way too much of speed for 40 €. With 27€ I can get the same 10M/10M and it will be more than enough. Now I have 100M/10M.
I'm also considering about 50M/10M option for 32.90 €, but I will see what I do. I download now test file 10GB and it loads 30-40 Mbps and sometimes even as fast as 50 Mbps. It depends on server also, but ebven on Google, which works on Ethernet at 95 Mbps, it is on Wifi nothing more than 51 Mbps.
It's also 10GB of 1,100 Offlined tracks, I tested it now. So on trips 32GB card should be enough for my phone. I'm going to one soon :)

Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
- Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
- Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?
