Laser and dot matrix printer
Hi ,
I have developed delivery note using smartforms when i see print preview of this form giving logical destination laser printer it is coming fine and print is also good. but as my client wants to take the form print both on laser and dot matrix so when i am giving logical destination as dotmatrix printer if i see print preview then the total settings are disturbed like boxes and also in print the box lines are not printing.
what i have to do to get good printout on both the printers.
thanks in advance.
Best idea to print your script on both dot matrix and laser printer is, create one table and allow user for maintainance, now before print preview go and check this customized table(using subroutines) and if laser printer, print all boxes... if on dot matrix remove what all lines not supported on dot matrix printer.
EX:
Go and fetch printer name from customized table,
IF printer = 'LASER'
***Draw boxes
***LINEITEMS
ELSEIF printer = 'Dot matrix'
***LINEITEMS.
ENDIF.

Hi
Our client need the functionality to print a invoice to a Laser and Dot Matrix at the same time. The Dot Matrix copy will be for the customer and the laser copy will be printed with barcode for filing purposes. Does anyone knows if this is possible. What we thought of is to use the functionality to create a pdf when adding a invoice SBO and then have a utility to scan the attachement folder and all new document must be picked and printed. Does anyone know where can we find something like this? ThanksHi Lindsay
I haven't test this scenario .may be it can help you.
So far it is a tough job to do what you have request .
What I am thinking is
Go to Administration --System initialization -->Print preference -->A/r invoice --Print when adding document .
This will print to the default .
Then , You can print A/R invoice using print command and select printer you like to print .
So that it looks like one time print even though you are printing two times.
Hope this helps

Java Printing and Dot Matrix printer
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see any forum about printing.
I have gotten printing working for my application to both "real" printers and dot-matrix printers. The problem is that I want to display a print dialog box, and have my application detect whether the user selected a "real" printer or a dot-matix printer.
I've dumped out the supported DocFlavors for both kinds of printers and haven't been able to find any reliable way to determine the printer type. Has anyone found a reliable way to do this?
I need to detect the printer type becuase I use one DocFlavor to print to a dot-matrix and a different DocFlavor to print to a "real" printer.
Thanks for any help,
--RyanThanks for the replies,
I would like to find some way to auto-detect this, if it is possible. I swear that I will only use the PrinterResolution class for good and not evil!! I was looking at the supported printer resolutions for the printers that are in my office here, and this is what I found:
Supported Resolutions Win32 Printer : FX-890 (my dot matrix)
24000x14400 dphi
12000x7200 dphi
12000x14400 dphi
Supported Resolutions Win32 Printer : HP LaserJet 4050 Series PS
30000x30000 dphi
60000x60000 dphi
120000x120000 dphi
Supported Resolutions Win32 Printer : HP Color LaserJet 4550 PCL 5c
60000x60000 dphiIt seems interesting that the laser jets only report resolutions that are the same horizontal as vertical, and that the dot matrix supports resolutions that are have different horz vs vert resolutions. Maybe I could use this to make a guess?
Unfortunately we don't use any native code in our application, although it could be a possibility if there is no 100% java way to auto-detect this. The vast majority of our users will be running Windows. Do you know of a way to figure this out in Windows?
Thanks,

Printing of Graphics and Frames ,not coming properly in dot matrix printer
Hi Experts,
I have one smartform layout for Good receipt note, have used the Logo and Frames .when i am printing in the Laser printer.everything is k.when i am printing in Dot matrix Printer(OKI Microline 380 24pin printer).the Logo and Frames are missing, but I could able to see the Print Priview Properly.
Could you give any urgent solution.it is very urgent.
Thanks in advance.
regards,
hppI agree with you that printing of Logo & Framesare not very supportive in Dot Matrix Printer.
You can ask the Basis consultant to check & change the printer setting & may be it may work, as you have already mentioned that it is OK in Laser Printer. The Dot Matrix printer is currently unable to read the Logo & frame for printing.

Clear printout when printing in dot-matrix printer but not in laser printer
Hi Experts,
When I am printing the output for change outbound delivery, output is clear in dot matrix printer like GI and and values are clearly getting printed, but when I use Laser printer no GI and details are fetched?
Kindly revert on this please, asap.
Thanks
Shireen.Hi Amiya,
you need to check the paperformat which is used. I'm pretty sure that there is a wrong paperformat selected. The supported paperformats are published in the official documentation of the printer-model.

Replacing Dot Matrix Printer with a Laser Printer
I'm hoping to replace a dot matrix printer currently used to produce a 2 layer carbon copy form with a laser printer. The source of the form is SAP. The length of the form varies between 1 and 3 pages. Does HP have a printer/paper solution?

Detect the clients type of printer, either laser or dot matrix
Is there a way to obtain the clients printer whether it is laser-printer or a dot matrix?
I will appreciate any answers, sample programs, & suggestions. Thank you.Hi,
The ("Windows side" of an) Intel Mac would act in the same way a PC (without a built-in parallel or serial port) does. You would need an appropriate USB to (usually) parallel adapter. With the new hardware added, you would choose the printer in Windows. Printing is then possible from within a program running under Windows.
Normally, a dot matrix printer is used only for special purposes (e.g., for multiple copy forms). If this is not the case, there are alternatives. I can understand if you do not wish to use an inkjet printer, but a (black and white) laser printer would probably be a much better solution. Many laser printers (USB and/or network models) work with both Mac OS X and Windows.

Most all of the Panasonic Dot Matrix printers support two different printer languages (IBM Proprinter and an Epson language - FX for 9 wire matrix printers, LQ for 24 wire matrix printers). The active language is configured through the setup routine of the printer itself by pressing certain buttons.
I installed the KX-P1150 driver on my Windows XP PC and then printed a web page through it because I knew this would force the print driver to enter graphics mode. I found that this driver was sending Epson based printer control commands. If it happened that the KX-P1150, which received this information, was set to its IBM Proprinter III emulation, most graphic based commands would not be understood.
In your case, the @ being printed instead of the graphically generated box draw characters suggests that you might have a printer language mismatch between the Windows driver receiving the SAP Smartforms input and the language currently selected within the target printer itself.
I would suggest as a first step verifying that the printer is in its Epson emulation and then trying a print test again. If you still have trouble, I would agree with the other poster who mentioned you should then look into re-checking the SPAD configuration.

Problem with custom paper size on dot matrix printer
Hi All,
I'm using CR2008 with updated to SP2. I have a problem with custom paper size (W=21; H=14), the CR Viewer show report with custom paper size correctly but when I print it to a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ 300+) the content was rotated to landscape. If print to a laser printer the content was printed correctly. My report was printed correctly by CR10 or previous versions I got this issue when upgraded to CR2008. I aslo tested my computer and printer with orther application like MS Word the printing have no problem with custom paper size.
Thanks for any advice for me.
HanLooking at the Epson LQ 300+ driver, I see that the latest update is from 2002. In my experience, most matrix printer drivers are not unicode. Crystal Reports is designed to only work with unicode printer drivers. See the [How Printer Driver Options Affect a Report|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a09051e9-721e-2b10-11b6-f9c65c64ef29&overridelayout=true] article, page 6 for details. Also, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
Finally, see if you can print from the CR designer to this printer and if you get the correct results here.

Thanks and regards
RaghuHi
The following dot-matrix printers are supported by SAP Business One.
+ Citizen PROdot 300
+ Epson FX-880
+ OKI MICROLINE 320 Elite
If you are using the 2005 version you can use also the Epson FX-890.

Crystal Report printing on dot-matrix printer
Hello,
I've developed an application using VB.NET and Crystal Reports in VS2008. The report generated gets printed correctly on modern laser or inkjet printers. However, the entire formatting gets affected when I print these reports on dot matrix printer. Apart from that. the print speed is very slow. I tried exporting the report to PDF, DOC and other formats - but no solution. There was Export to Text function, which is not working in Crystal Reports now.
After a research on this issue, I found out few links to some solutions - which actually doesn't work. These links are as follows:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vscrystalreports/thread/e24a8084-ad53-48bc-a7d5-065ef82636ac
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vscrystalreports/thread/dd506c66-4cdc-48a7-9fa8-2c6f14daef24/ (Same issue in C#)
I've seen some software, in which, when Print on Dot Matrix (custom menu option) is selected, data is sent to DOS mode and reports are printed from DOS mode.
Is there any solution for this? OR DOS mode is the only solution?
This is high priority issue. Even though we're moving ahead in IT industry, govt. still depend on 4 color dot matrix printer reports.
Waiting for solution

Edited by: samir DODIYA on Feb 28, 2012 1:30 PMThere is something I don't understand: if the barcode printed is visually correct, and exactly the same as with a laser printer, why do you want it would be better with a PDF (especially on a dot matrix printer).
Could you also tell us what symbology you use, and do you use smart form new barcode technology?
