LaserJet P1505n printing slow just for user-level accounts in Win7

I have several workstations running Win7 Pro 64-bit that have been installed as replacements for XP machines.  All of them print to one of several P1505n printers, and are using the latest drivers from HP.  Under XP there were no problems printing to these printers, but the Win7 machines have significant delays when trying to print.  The Windows test page prints instantaneously, but printing from any other application has a delay of up to a full minute before the job begins to print.  Once the job prints, it prints without issue.
One thing that I have noticed during my testing seems to point to permissions.  If I am logged in using my admin-level account, everything prints as it should, with no delays at all.  Once I log in with a user-level account, however, the delays begin.  I found the driver files at C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3, but giving "everyone" full control over those files does not help.
Is there anything else that I should be looking at?
Thanks in advance!
Donny

In the end, I was able to resolve the problem by installing the Vista x64 drivers.  No playing with permissions necessary.

  • Installing x64 and x86 drivers for a HP Laserjet p1505n printer on Windows Server 2008

How do you install both x64 and x86 drivers for a p1505n on a 2008 server? I have now managed to install 64 bit drivers but can't install x86 drivers in the normal way using Additional Drivers from the Sharing tab. I am also trying to do similar for a laserjet 1022n printer.

On the 2008 Server x64 I installed the FULL driver package 163mb.
I installed the HP P1505n on Server 2008 and made sure that was working.
Then I went back in and did the Additional Driver thing and when it asked for the driver for x86 I went to the
C:\hp_P1000_P1500_Full_Solution folder and scrolled to the bottom and there was the x86 XP driver.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • HP LaserJet P1505n Printer frequently loses assigned static IP address and goes offiline

    We have replaced printer several times, assigned printer static ip to eliminate network related issues. Ran, Scan Doctor;
    - reinstalled printer drivers
    - power cyled printer
    - check for network connectivity
    - Printer works perfectly ( for a brief period of time.)
What's mind boggling, ( if I may) is that IPv4 service was turned off when printer went offline. Logical right? Turned it back and it works for a while and goes offline again. Boggie man stops by that printer to turn-off network connections repeatedly. This is frustrating and makes my department look bad. May be we should try a different brand of printer. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi gr---8 ,
Sorry to hear you are still having issues setting up the printer on the wired network.
We will need to find out if it is the Ethernet port on the printer, or the network causing this issue.
Do you have Mac filtering on the router?
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the printer.
Restore the printer back to factory settings.
Print a hardware test page to test the printer's hardware. Make sure the SSID and IP address is cleared from your router's setttings. Printing a Configuration Page in Windows.
Connect the Ethernet cable directly to the computer.
Print the configuration page again to see if you get a IP address to test the Ethernet port on the printer.
    What is the IP address?
Run the add printer wizard to install the printer.
    Test the printer.
Were you able to see the printer, add the printer and print?

  • OBA4 FI tolerance groups for users - GL account

    Dear All,
May I know where is the gl account defined for the permitted payment differences? If in FBKP, then which group to define?
    Thanks

    Hi
Please use the below mentioned path to define tolerance groups for users and also refer to follow the below link
For normal price difference clearing use the Tcode:OBXL
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/51496069/17/Assign-User-Tolerance-Groups
for details please go through the below mentioned points
    SPRO>Financial Accounting>General Ledger Accounting>Business Transactions>Open Item Clearing>Clearing Differences>Define Tolerance Groups for G/L Accounts/Define Tolerance Groups for Employees
    Upper limit for posting procedure
    Maximum Amount Posted per Document
Maximum permitted posting amount per document for this user group.
The posting amount is the total of all debit items or, similarly, the total of all credit items.
Maximum Posting Amount per Line Item
Maximum posting amount permitted per customer or vendor item for this user group.
    Maximum Cash Discount Percentage Rate
Maximum cash discount percentage rate which may be assigned by an employee of the user group.
    Use
The percentage rate is checked during the entry, change and clearing of open items.
    Note
The restriction does not apply to automatically created line items, for example, during payment settlements.
    Permitted payment difference
    Maximum Payment Difference for Revenue
Payment differences to our advantage are allowed up to the amount entered here.
The amount always refers to the local currency. Payment differences up to the amount entered here are posted automatically by the system as increasing the profit. The system creates line items to show this.
    Note
In addition to the amount, you also enter a percentage rate in the Percent field. The lower limit is valid. If you only want to use absolute amounts or percentage specifications, then you must enter the maximum value in every other field.
Note that you define these limits for your customers/vendors and your employees. The lower limit is valid.
    Example
The local currency is USD. You have entered 30 USD in the Revenue field and 1 in the Percent field. For incoming payments up to 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of a maximum of 1 percent. That means, amounts of 0 to a maximum of 30 USD are tolerated, depending on the incoming payment amount. For incoming payments over 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of up to a maximum of 30 USD.
Maximum Allowable Revenues from Payment Differences
Differences when settling payments are accepted and posted automatically by the system up to the percentage rate entered here. The percentage rate is only valid if the difference is posted as a gain.
The percentage rate is used for the maximum of the debit and credit totals of the items to be cleared.
    Note
In addition to the percentage rate, you also enter an amount in the Revenue field. The lower limit is valid. If you only want to use absolute amounts or percentage specifications, you must enter the maximum value in every other field.
Note: You define these limits for your customer/vendor and your employees. The lower limit is valid.
    Example
The local currency is USD. You have entered 30 USD in the Revenue field and 1 in the Percent field. For incoming payments of up to 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of a maximum of 1 percent. That means, amounts of 0 to a maximum of 30 USD are tolerated, depending on the incoming payment amount. For incoming payments over 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of up to a maximum of 30 USD.
Maximum Discount Adjust. for Gain from Payment Differences
When clearing payments, any payment differences up to the amount specified here are corrected with the cash discount posting as long as the cash discount amount is large enough for the adjustment.  The value you specify here is used for differences that represent a gain.

  • How to disable the print "ALL" feature for users?

Is there a way to limit the user from printing an entire Adobe Acrobat  document by accident.  We have many documents that are 50 pages and more  and often times, the user only needs to print several pages but because  of CCS (Continual Clicking Syndrome), they blast right through the  print menu and send the whole document to the printer.
The easiest way would be to disable the "ALL" feature (radio button) in  the "Print Range" field.  However, I do not know if that is available or  if there is code I can enter in each document.

    It's not possible.
However, you can create buttons on your document that "help" the user print
just a part of the document: a certain page range, just the current page,
    etc.

  • Printer shows up for users who shouldn't see it.

I have workgroup manager configured to provide access to printers depending on the computer group. For example if you are in computer lab 1, you get the lab 1 printer and if you are in computer lab 2 you get the lab 2 printer. I also have it configured to give the Staff user group access to the Staff Photo Copier.
Here is what happens, if I log into the computer in Lab 1 as a student I get access to the Lab 1 printer. That is what should happen. Now if I log into that same computer as staff member I get the Lab 1 printer and the Staff Copier. Everything is working so far. Except if I log in as a student again I now have access to the Lab 1 printer and the Staff Copier.
I don't want students to ever have access to the copier, but it seems that as soon as a staff member logs into a computer the Copier is added to the printer.conf file and it then shows up for everybody. I have had this configuration for a couple years and never had this problem on Tiger, it has only started happening since upgrading to Leopard. In fact it still works the way it should in Lab 2 where the machines still run Tiger.
I could create a logout hook that deletes the printer.conf file every time the user logs off but that seems kind of extreme.

Using Printer panes in Server Admin, create/modify the copier/printer into a Server Queue. Remove direct access to it from all Teacher accounts, and add the Server Queue for it instead. Set students quota for that Queue to zero.
Now when students first log on, they have no copier/printer. If a teacher logs on, they have only the Server Queue for the copier/printer, not the copier/printer directly. If access to the Queue persists when the teacher logs out, that should be OK, since the Student accounts have no quota for it.
Server cannot enforce quotas unless you are using Queues created/modified on the Server. If you print direct to the actual printer, Server never sees the traffic and cannot intervene.

  • IPhoto won't start anymore just for 1/5 accounts

    Hello,
Al over sudden one user is not able to start iPhoto anymore. I just bounces once and stops. No iPhoto task running.
With the other users on the same machine iPhoto is fine.......
-- repair disk permissions didn't help
    -- removing ~/pref/com.apple.iphoto.plist didn't help
-- starting with option key didn't help
-- tried to start from iPhotoLibrary Manager pointing to a shared and will working library didn't work...
Has someone a tip (other than creating a new user and deleting the account causing trouble....)

    Hi Terence,
    txs for your post.
The crash reporter doesn't write anything....
Suddenly I realised that the problem causing account uses the Portuguese language, while the others (without problems) use either Dutch or English. When I changed for the problem causing user language to Dutch iPhoto starts up and runs smoothly.
Well just a work around but still an awkward expierence......
Does this gives you some fresh IDs???

  • User Level SOD Report - Batch

    Hi GRC Experts,
Every day my company runs a User Level SOD analysis against every user in ERP or HRP.  Here is the criteria for ERP (there is a connector):
    System:  Our defined ERP connector
    Risk Level:  All
    Rule Set:  Global
    User is not DDIC
    User Type:  Dialog
    Format: Detail      Technival View
Access Risk Analysis at the Permission Level
    Show All Object
This job is run in Background, and the report output is downloaded from Background Jobs.
Is there a way to schedule this job using SE38 and a variant?  We would like to start using a automated scheduling tool.
The program run is GRFN_BP_SCHEDULER with variant &0000000001569
I looked at the variant, and it looks for I_PLANID and I_UPDTSK.
Is all the criteria I selected stored in a table as a PLANID?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Plaban,
Thank you for the info!  How do you set up the variant for the "Report" options?  We need two reports for "User Level".  In the Report Options section, we need one report with a Format = Detail and one with a Format = Management Summary. Both reports should be in the Format = Technical View.
    Thank you and kind regards,

  • HR: Security Profile at User Level

    Hi
As HR: Security Profile is not enabled for user level, but sometime we need it for some users. Workaround is set up a different responsibility for the same.
Also We can go to Application Developer Responsibility and set enable user level for HR: Security Profile option. Is it Ok to do it or this may break the system at some point.
    Suggestions Please.

    Gaurav,
I am not an expert in this area, but I do not think enabling the profile at the user level will cause any issues. In our site, what we have done is to create a security profile specific to that user and assigned it in the HR module (not sure of the specifics, but I can find out if you are interested) - we did not enable the profile option at the user level as you are wanting to do. SR can provide you with another opinion :-)

  • FileVault in Mavericks for one user's account.

I used to have one user's files/partition encrypted via FileVault.  When I tried to do that in Mevericks it only allows me to encrypt the whole HD,  not just one user's drive.
I opened a user's account, opened Security & Privacy in System Preferences and turned FileVault on - just like I did before.  My Mac then tries to encrypt the whole HD, which is not what I want.   How can I just encrypt just one user's account, like in Mountain Lion ?

    Hi Sada,
It looks like there is an issue with the user.
Please check the User address and attribute consistency using BBP_BP_OM_INTEGRATE (Object Synchronization & Repair).
Try executing this transaction by inputting the Business Partner number of the User.
In case of inconsistency with address or Object links then these kind of errors pop up.
Using USERS_GEN txn. delete the employee assignment of this user and then reassign the SU01 user to the responsible organization. It will generate a new BP.
Also you can check for the consistency of this user using BBP_BP_OM_INTEGRATE txn.
Then try creating shopping cart using this user.
Hope this will resolve your issue. Clarifications are welcome.

  • HP LaserJet 4300 prints gibberish for one user, but prints OK for all others on a Windows 7 32-bit

HP LaserJet 4300 printer installed via LPT1 using Universal Print Driver v5.2.6.9321 on an HP 8100 desktop running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32-bit.
For one particular user, this printer prints gibberish no matter what type of document she attempts to print.
Not sure when the problem began, the user uses a network printer to work around this issue. She can print to any of the other HP printers on our network OK, including another 4300 down the hall.
Anyone else can log on and print the same documents OK on this desktop using this printer.
Have tried rebooting the HP 8100 and power cycled off/on the 4300. Also uninstalled and re-installed the 4300.
I have updated the firmware on this 4300.
Changing the print processor in the printer properties did not help either.
Virus and malware scans have not detected any issues.

  • Spool printing takes a long time for just one user

    Hello,
Could someone please guide on what could be the reason that spool printing takes a long time for just one user ?
I've monitored all the spool processes through SM50, and I've found that a very long time elapses before the printing job appears in one of the four spool processes.
    Thanks in advance.
    Reda

    Hi,
very long time elapses before the printing job appears in one of the four spool processes.
can u check the trace file(Red color error) of that spool process. Also can u see if there are any system logs in SM21 related to that spool request.
Also see how many pages the user is giving print @ 1 shot. Suppose if the printer to whcih the user is giving print is a network printer, see the network response time.
Have u tried to ask the same user to give print to some other printer. Also have u asked some other user to print to that problematic printer. Check the responses under this scenario also.

    Ravi
