Latent volume envelope response?

STP seems to be responding 'late' (like 400ms or so) to sudden changes in volume. By default, my track volume is set to 0dB ... if I add a music clip, then adjust the volume down for that clip, I get a loud section of music before the volume drops.
I zoomed in on the envelope that STP automatically created, at the beginning of the music clip. There are two envelope points at 'virtually' the same time. The first point is at 0dB, and the second point is aligned with the beginning of my audio track and is at -6dB.
If I play over this section again and again, the result is inconsistent! Sometimes, the clip begins at the proper volume, and sometimes I get the spike in volume before it drops! I thought this would be fixed when I exported my mix to AIF, but the spikes are ever-present in the rendered files!
I have this problem consistently when I use volume envelopes, but not if I use clip fades.
Is there some STP setting I need to adjust? Buffer or something? Anyone else with this problem?

I've seen this problem with differing sample rates between project, files, and export selection.
Make sure they are all the same (for example 44khz0 and see if that helps your problem.

  • Volume envelope error

    hello,
    I am doing the sound for a film and I have a lot of volume envelopes on tracks. all of them are a sort of fade in fade out type but not completely from 0 to -inf. let's say from 0 to -12 dB and then back after a few seconds. they are all smooth slopes.
    whenever I save the project, close Logic and then return later to the same project, all my envelopes are straight 90degrees. logic adds a point for each envelope slope and makes it abrupt.
    it does not do this on all tracks. only some. I could not identify a pattern of behavior.
    please tell me how I can get rid of this. it takes me half an hour every time I open the project to delete these points that Logic adds and then my work is in vain. if I close it and open it again, it looks the same.
    thank you for your help.

    no big deal really. no virtual instruments, no heavy plug-ins. just a few eq's and compressors from logic and some reverb. 8 tracks in total. but 4 of the are 98 minutes long.

  • Audition CS5.5 - How to go over 100% in Volume Envelope

    So I'm trying to do a simple amplify envelope, with smooth louden and quieting, and the only envelope I can find is the Volume Envelope. But when I try using it, the maximum volume is 100% which is the original volume. The only tool I can find to make it actually louder is Amplify, which just makes the whole selection larger in decibels, with no volume curvature. I just want to smoothly lift the volume from 100% to something around 500%, and then smoothly let it back down to 100%.
    How do I manage this?

    What you did not explicate is that Audition CS5.5 does not support the feature - which is quite ridiculous since the earlier version CS4 does.
    Anyhow, it still doesn't work; none of the options in the Normalization dialog allow me to lift the volume above 100%.
    The only way I found to raise the volume is, as I already stated, is Amplify, which I already knew.
    So, if the feature is not supported, then the issue has changed:
    If I use Amplify, which is in decibels, then apply a Volume Envelope, which is in %, how do I confirm that the rest of the audio is being restored to its original volume?

  • In Multi-track window, audio mutes when it reaches a volume envelope.

    ...and what's up with that?  I am running Audition 1.0 on a Windows XP machine with an Lynx soundcard.  The problem is a new development.  When the audio reaches the point at which the volume envelope changes, the audio cuts out and will not return, even if the volume is returned to unity.  But, it will mix down correctly, with the volume changes done.  It is just not possible to hear them before mixing it down, which is useless, of course.  I have increased virtual RAM.  Anybody have any ideas?  My thanks in advance for your help.

    Don't know if this will help...  Try changing the multi-track preview/playback settings (press F4)...  If the playback buffer is too big or too small you may get dropouts...
    Also try to defrag the hard drive with virtual memory turned off.  With VM off it may run slow, but it should defrag the swap file as well making your drive super optimized. You may have to boot in safe mode to make it work though...  Of course you can turn the VM back on when you're done...
    Clean out the dust from the computer and make sure it isn't over heating...???

  • Volume envelope is disabled

    I really hope this is something simple but, I was just doing some editing on a multitrack project I created in Soundtrack. I repeated some voice cuts on the same track I'd been laying these same voice cuts earlier but in their new position they seemed too loud. I didn't want to decrease the volume on the entire track, just at this point so I went into the volume envelope, added some keyframes and decreased the volume in this one specific area. I was surprise to find that the the volume didn't change. Even when I'd dragged the layer down to -96db, there was no change at all. I don't seem to have the bypass highlighted. Am I overlooking some reason the envelope would be disabled?
    TIA,
    Pete

    I don't have any help, but I am experienceing something similar in audio files in STP2. When I apply any changes to the volume envelope or to any other Realtime effect, I cannot hear the change unless I bounce it to an action. This makes Soundtrack inhibitive to use because i can't easily hear what I am adjusting.
    In SoundTrack Pro I never experienced this.

  • Using the clip volume envelope to amplify rather than attenuate

    Hi everyone,
    I was trying to edit the volume envelope of a clip in Multitrack View, and I realised that the volume envelope really only allows you to *attenuate* the volume of a clip throughout its duration, not *amplify* it. In other words, you can only add points on the envelope that are *beneath* the +0dB line, thus decreasing the volume by so-many dB.
    Is there a way to also vary to volume of a clip in the other direction, that is - to amplify it, in the Multitrack View?
    Many thanks for any suggestions!

    Presumably because that is the limit set by Adobe for that operation. If you need more than that then you probably need to permanently increase the level of the file in Edit View.
    There seems to be, however, a workaround. If, having rescaled the clip envelope to maximum, you Right click and open Clip Properties you will see that Audition has set the Clip Volume to the max of +15dB. If you reset the fader level to 0 you can then go and rescale the Envelopes a second time. This may allow you to get the gain you require. But, as mentioned above, if your levels are that low in the first place I would raise the level of the file permanently in Edit View.

  • Adjust Volume Envelopes of Multiple Clips at Once?  Is this Possible?

    I really need to be able to reset all my volume envlopes back to zero, but can't figure out how to do this.  Is it possible?  If not, I definitely want to request this feature.
    I brought my levels info from FCP and no longer want it.  The only way I can seem to get ride of it is to go to each clip individuallly and awkwardly adjust it back to zero - either that, or I
    have to export my OMFs all over again and request not to bring in volume infor from FCP, and then start from scratch.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Is this overall clip gain, on clip envelope settings (yellow line) or volume automation envelopes?
    If it is the on clip envelope then if you can see a keyframe marker (little grey diamond) right click on it and from the drop down menu select Select All Keyframes. Then hitting Delete will set them all back to 0dB.

  • How do you accurately key in volume envelope changes?

    I zoom in as close as I can with maximum track height, hold down command and mouse over the envelope line.  I try to get it to +4db, but can only get +3.9 or +4.1 db.  Sometimes I am able to get it accurate, but it's totally unreliable.  Is there any way to type in the value?  Any way to make it accurate, or is this just a limitation of Audition?

    Thanks, guys.  I found out that I could position right on the line and key in a value in the volume box to the left of the track (not sure why I didn't see that before).  It probably is a mouse sensitivity thing.  Command (on mac) helps, but it's not 100% accurate on its own.

  • Changing Volume envelopes affects NOTHING

    I have a project where I need to make the volume dip at a certain part. To do this, I've set three keyframes, the first at 0db the second at -96db and the third at 0db
    During the part where the audio should dip down, there is no change! I'm not sure if this is a soundtrack pro bug, or if I am doing this wrong. Please help me out here!!

    There's no reason to reinstall an application because a simple part of the interface doesn't appear to work. I can safely assume from this statement you are a former or simultaneous Windows user. Trashing the prefs will solve almost any issue with an Apple application.
    What we haven't established yet is if you know how to drive Soundtrack Pro. Have the envelope controls work for you as expected in other projects?

  • 3rd Generation Low volume ■Frequency response: 20Hz to 20,000Hz

    Hi - My slightly used EBAY Purchased IPod Nano 3rd Generation plays some songs to my cars volume capacity; and most songs in very low volume {no matter what I do in settings/EQ, ect}.
    Could this have something to do with how I purchased the song in ITunes?  What exactly is bitrate ACC on the sync menu and how do I know to choose that option.
    Side Note:  I have a Harmon Kardon system in a Landrover LR3~ which means this 43 year old mom of 2 should be able to feel the beat when driving.  The automobile radio/CD/XM can perform, why can't my IPOD?

    Having been an audiophile for decades I can tell you specs lie. Cheap audio equipment often has specs that ON PAPER best units costing literally 100 times as much. It's best to read trusted sources for reviews and use your own ears. I learned about the "arms race" in specsmanship back in the 70's when I was in and out of high end audio salons for years, replacing components in my home system. I finally got what I really like when I got, among other things, a Mark Levinson amp. NOTHING beats listening and since our ears have short term memory, the best way to know which of several pieces of equipment are best for you is to do a carefully controlled A/B test. A/B tests CAN be biased, but done fairly (no salesman shenigans) they are the best way to know which item to buy (presuming your pocketbook matches the quality of your hearing)

    Hi,

    SAP APPL 6.05 SP8 is installed at the ECC-System.
    For given Location, LogisticsArea, MaterialID and BatchID I want to get the amounts of own stock and supplier consignemnt stock with unrestricted use.
    For the supplier consignment stock the SupplierID is needed too.
    There are 38276 pieces of unrestricted use supplier consignment stock at the logistics area.
    The service seem's to work.
    But I'm wondering about the extensive response.
    There is always a section "ExpectedInventoryChange" with ChangeTypeCode=3 and ChangeReasonCode=15 in the response.
    Blocked/Restricted stock is sent 3 times for own stock and 3 times for consignment stock.
    Has anyone an idea why blocked/restricted stock is sent 3 times in the response or why the "ExpectedInventoryChange" is sent?
    Is this the right place at SCN for this question?

    Hi adil,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you created an External Content Type.
    For resolving your issue, please do the following trobuleshooting :
     1.Whether you have used AAM for your site. If yes, please create Enternal Content Type using the orginal URL rather then the AAM URL.
     2.Please verify the Bussiness Data Connectivity Service and Managed Metadata Web Service are started as CA->Application Management->Manage services on server under Service Applications
     3.Open Application Management -> Manage services applications, find the Bussiness Data Connectivity Service Application, and in the Status column, verify that the service proxy status is Started.
     4.Please check whether the authentication is using Windows Integrated Authentication (NTLM) in CA-> Application Management->Manage web applications-> your web application->Authentication Providers.
    If this issue still exists, I suggest you delete Bussiness Data Connectivity Service Application, and create a new one.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,

    import java.util.*;
    import java.net.URL;
    public class Request {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    SOAPConnectionFactory scFactory =
    SOAPConnectionFactory.newInstance();
    SOAPConnection con = scFactory.createConnection();
    MessageFactory factory =
    MessageFactory.newInstance();
    SOAPMessage message = factory.createMessage();
    SOAPPart soapPart = message.getSOAPPart();
    SOAPEnvelope envelope = soapPart.getEnvelope();
    SOAPHeader header = envelope.getHeader();
    SOAPBody body = envelope.getBody();
    header.detachNode();
    Name bodyName = envelope.createName(
    "TestDtls", "m",
    "urn:myserver/soap:TestThis");
    SOAPBodyElement gltp =
    body.addBodyElement(bodyName);
    Name name = envelope.createName("PhoneOrigin");
    SOAPElement symbol = gltp.addChildElement(name);
    symbol.addTextNode("0672324228");
    URL endpoint = new URL
    ("http://john/myservices/testsoap.asp");
         message.writeTo(System.out);
    SOAPMessage response = con.call(message, endpoint);
         response.writeTo(System.out);
    SOAPPart sp = response.getSOAPPart();
    SOAPEnvelope se = sp.getEnvelope();
    SOAPBody sb = se.getBody();
    Iterator it = sb.getChildElements(bodyName);
    SOAPBodyElement bodyElement =
    (SOAPBodyElement)it.next();
    String myvalue = bodyElement.getValue();
    System.out.print("The Value Retrived is ");

    Actually,i need to see the response in XML format as per my program.
    But,What does all this stuff mean ? I have using latest jwsdp 1.2.
    Can Anyone Help me on this ?

    i have the same problem. when i make a test with a VB client, the SOAP message is builded this way "<SOAP.... instead of <SOAP-ENV.... tag generated by java. When a make a test in vb client using this syntax (SOAP-ENV), the asp page returns a error:
    <font face="Arial" size=2>
    <p>Microsoft VBScript runtime </font> <font face="Arial" size=2>error '800a01a8'</font>
    <p>
    <font face="Arial" size=2>Object required: 'objXMLDOM.selectSingleNode(...)'</font>
    <p>
    <font face="Arial" size=2>/rcruz/soap/vbSoap/simplesoap.asp</font><font face="Arial" size=2>, line 6</font>
    Anyone have a idea???
    Thanks

  • Error Reading Soap Response

    Hi,
    We are having a problem reading Soap Response:
    Scenario: From XI/PI we are calling a webservice with Synchronous
    message with WS-Security including Authentication, Signature, TimeStamp
    and Encryption using SOAP Receiver Adapter. We are able to send the
    request successfully and also the webServer is able to understand the
    request and sending the response back. The problem is the PI is unable
    to read the response and giving a below error:
    com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: expecting end tag:
    Transform, but found
    InclusiveNamespaces at state 1
    We tested successfully end-end with NON-Secured sites with out WS-
    Security.
    Please let me know if you have seen this error or any thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Laxman
    This is the actual Request Message:
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

  • Back to back envelope adjustment

    Possible newbie question:
    If I have a single track with back-to-back audio clips (like broll SOT)
    how can I quickly adjust the volume of each clip using the volume envelope
    without adding 2 keyframes at each edit point? I was told that with ProTools you
    click on the clip and it will only adjust the envelope for that clip. I see that
    in STP, you can activate the "select clip with keyframes" and it will add a keyframe to the beg and end of the clip, but then you get a ramp from the prev.
    clip. Is there a different work flow that I need to try?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    It sounds like you are working with video audio clips? The way I would approach them is to clean up the ends (assuming the SOT are similar ie: voice w. nat sound etc, set the levels you like and cross fade to each clip. You could use the key frames but I would use the clips on alternating tracks and cross fade. If you are going to use music etc, then you should come across decent. Good luck.
