Layered sequence creates a flashing image
I've successfully been layering multiple copies of the same clip to produce some interesting visuals.
With 1 section only the layering produces a flashing image, as if brightness/contrast levels are varying.
My first thought was that they were slightly out of time, so I duplicated the top layer, got rid of the bottom one (there are only two). Then pasted in the copy and applied the old settings from the previous layer, but.. still got the flashing.
Now I've used this effect on all surrounding footage, which was filmed in the same location, and there's no problem.
What would cause this to happen?
Effects used:
B/C
Color Balance
Color Balance
ProcAmp
Plz bear in mind this occurs on only one of multiple clips and they all use these effects
B/C. Brightness/Contrast yes.
Thx Bill I did try doing that already.
It was the ProcAmp on the top layer. What I don't understand is.. given that it worked on the dozen or so layers in the sequence before this one why would it now start flashing?
The only explanation I could think of was that one was slightly out of time, but this wasn't the case.
Any1 know of anything else that could cause this.
I don't think it's an effect conflict as it works perfectly fine on all clips before and after this one, with exactly the same settings.
Oh, and there is know flashing from lighting or weather on original.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My Flash Image viewer won't flush left on Windows
I created a Flash image viewer file in Dreamwever and put it
into a table cell and it seems to go flush left on the Mac, but
flushes right on Windows browsers, I have the cell set to flush
left. Can anyone help me with this?Okay what I do is this. I want to insert a Flash collection of images, one changing to the other. I go to insert, then Flash then image viewer and the Flash image appears where my cursor is, and then my FLash editor appears on the right hand side, and I drop images into it, using the + key, taking them from the images in the foler for the web site. File size of the images are fine I think, all less than a 100k in size. Whe I press play or preview in the web browser, it just flashes once and is displayed as white . No images appear or anything.. I cannot upload to a live site at the moment unfortunatley. I can make take a photo of the screen if you want so you can see it?? Let me know.

How to create a flash archive of cdrom -s boot?
Hi All,
I would like to create a flash image of a balde 100 with a SUNWrneq install. I tried to flash this install by booting off the cdrom in single user mode. I originally loaded the HD with 2 partitions; / on s0 and swap on s1, then I mounted so to /a on the cdrom and then I ran the following flarcreate command:
flarcreate -n flash_root -c -S -R /a -e root_archive -x /aflash -x /tmp/root -a me /a/flash/SUNWCrneq-solaris-10-GA.flar
The error message is as follows:
File size of "flash/SUNWCrneq-solaris-10-GA.flar" has increased by 2121474920 blocks
1 error(s)
Archive creation complete
flar -i against the archive says that the archive is unreadable.
Please, can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
PhilHi Phil,
Maybe a typo. Your command does not omit the directory /a/flash but /aflash. You could amending this or, try creating a filesystem with your original swap area and mounting the on /tmp/b and sending flar image there.
flarcreate -n flash_root -c -S -R /a -e root_archive -x /aflash -x /tmp/root -a me /a/flash/SUNWCrneq-solaris-10-GA.flar

Load/import images into layers to create animated gif in PE4
I'm trying to make an animated gif using Photoshop Elements 4.0.
I have numerous images (photos) that I need to insert into separate frames of one image.
(photo1, photo2 ..... photo10 - all combined in layers to create the frames of the animated gif)
I can open each photo separately, copy it, go the the animated gif image, create a new layer, and paste the image into the layer to create a frame in the animated gif. This is very time consuming.
Does Elements 4.0 allow for just opening/importing the separate images (photos) into the layers (frames) of the gif direclty? I remember having software that came with Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 in 2000 that made this simple and straight forward.We are not the right people to ask. The Touch forum (for tablet) is at

Netbook Mini 110-3830NR How do I create a restore image on a flash drive
I have a HP Mini 110-3830NR Netbook running Windows 7 Starter.
I want to create a restore image to original factory state.
The user manual recommends that I create a restore disk.
It further states that to create a restore image on a USB device, I need at least
a 16GB device.
Therefore I purchased a Hp v165 16GB flash drive that actually contains
14.8 GB of user space.
I could not find the correct info about creating the disk on the HP support
web site so I chatted with an HP Support technician. She eventually gave me
a link to a procedure that would create a restore disk for me.
Then she said I needed a 32gb flash drive !!
Is the user manual or the technician correct ??
Can I use the 16GB (14.8 actual), or must I buy a 32 GB flash drive ??
Thank You fljimI would just try to create it, the recovery creator should tell you at some point if it is big enough or not, orignally 8gb was big enough for most W7 system's HP sold, but as time passed they had to upgrade the size recommendation to 32gb.
the 16gb should be large enough for your model.
This HP document says al least 8gb minimum, use 16gb for best results, very confusing, I agree

Can I create a RAW image Sequence in Photoshop CS6?
Hello Photoshop Gurus,
I'm posting this because I've tried searching for an answer but I've only found one and it doesn't work for me. I'm trying to create a RAW image sequence in Photoshop CS6 on a mac. the box is greyed out. The only answer I've found is to disable jpeg support in preferences but that didn't work.
Just trying to create a timelapse from an image sequence without having to spend $20/month renting After Effects!
Thanks!Do you have the Extended version of photoshop cs6?
(not sure if you need the extended version or not)

Create a "draggable" image in Flash CS6 Pro
Hi folks,
Firstly, whilst the answer would be great, i'm also hoping for people to point me in the right direction for finding these answers myself...
I'm new to CS6, and relatively innexperienced with flash in general (certainly new to AS3).
I'm working my way through a project, and right now, i'm trying to create a background image or layer, that that is bigger than my canvas, the idea being that you can click, and drag the mouse to look around it, but NOT pull the edges of the image over the canvas (i'm sure theres a more appropriate word than canvas too).
My main issue is that i'm struggling with terminology, so whilst I know what i want to acheive, putting it into words that experts understand, or gives relevant google hits, is proving to be an issue.
Hope someone can help.
Tim.This is pretty easy but will require some code. Here's a sample file you can look at. (we call the canvas the "Stage").
In this example I made a 200x200 document size with an object that is 400x400. What the code will do is figure out how much larger the image is than the stage. It will then calculate a rectangle size and position where the object is allowed to be dragged.
Example FLA (saved down to CS4)
The code is pretty simple:
// what code to run when the mouse is pressed
mygfx.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, handleMouseDownF);
// what code to run when the mouse is released or leaves the
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, handleMouseUpF);
function handleMouseDownF(e:MouseEvent):void
// get the extra area we need which it's allowed
// to move in (object size minus the stage size)
var extraWidth:int = int(mygfx.width - stage.stageWidth);
var extraHeight:int = int(mygfx.height - stage.stageHeight);
// use that extra space to make a negative value rectangle
mygfx.startDrag(false,new Rectangle(
(-1 * extraWidth), // x
(-1 * extraHeight), // y
extraWidth, // width
extraHeight)); // height
function handleMouseUpF(e:MouseEvent):void
mygfx.stopDrag();
To start I converted the big ugly object into a symbol (F8), a MovieClip. I then clicked on that MovieClip and in the properties panel I gave it the instance name "mygfx". This allows me to access that object in code by just using it's name, like you see in the code above. I'm trying to keep it simple.
I attached a couple listeners for the events MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN (the user is holding down the left mouse button on the object) and MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP (the user let the left button go). I'm running a different function for those 2 different events as you can see.
The math is easy but the concept of what's going on here is a little harder to explain.
When I created the symbol, I used the default upper left registration point. That means any time you move the object on stage, the x/y position reported in the Info Panel will be the location ot the "upper left" of the object. Check the help section if you don't know what registration points are.
With upper left registration and the object placed at x:0, y:0 on the stage, you can only see 1/4 of the upper left of the image. In this circumstance you can use a special function called "startDrag()" on any display object to allow the user to drag it. To keep it on screen you can specify a rectangular area it must be confined to. That's where the simple math came in.
I subtracted the stages size from the larger image size which told me how many pixels to the left and up the drag was allowed to go. You want to subtract the stage size so you reduce the amount it can move so it won't go off the stage. We know the stage is 200x200 and the object is double at 400x400, so 400-200=200. So I want to make the limiting bounding Rectangle(-200,-200,200,200). That means I can move the object up negative 200 pixels and left negative 200 pixels. If you change the size of the object the math will calculate the correct amount (as long as the image is larger than the stage height/width). Just keeping it easy for now.
Lastly when the user lets the mouse up the dragging is stopped with the display objects "stopDrag()" function. -
Export image sequence from AS flash file
Hello:
I am new to flash I am using flash professional 8 and
publishing at version 6 (although I can publish to any version for
this issue). I am using ActionScript 2.0 and am animating objects
using code instead of tweens. I need to export the animation out as
separate frames. I need the image sequence from the flash to use in
other applications and other uses. If anyone has any idea on how to
do this I'd appreciate knowing. I'd prefer to not have to buy more
software of course but if that is the case and it is the best way
let me know.
Thanks in advance.The latest Flash CC 2014 release has an export to SVG option, which exports the current frame as SVG. There is no direct way to export the entire animation as SVG sequence though.
You can find more details @ Flash Professional Help | New features summary

Hi I am trying to create a flash player to display images in sequence using Flash player & ActionScript. The code below has lots of errors and I can’t work them out. I have programmed in other languages and am perfectly aware that something like this.
*code*
var imageLoader:Loader;
imageLoader = new Loader(); // 1120: Access to undefined property imageLoader

OR
*code*
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader(); // 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time: Loder

Are both acceptable.
*code*
package code

import flash.events.Event;
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import fl.containers.UILoader;
public class MovieSlides extends MovieClip
var imageLoader:Loader;
imageLoader = new Loader(); // Error dosen't understand previouse line.
//var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(2000,8);
//myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, timerListener); // Error dosen't understand previouse line.
var MyImages:Array = new Array(

"S_DSC_0790.jpg","S_DSC_0929.jpg","S_DSC_0218.jpg"
public function MovieSlides()
// constructor code

// trace("I am here");
// myTimer.start();
// SitBackRelax;
function loadImage(url:String):void
// Set properties on my Loader object
// imageLoader = new Loader();
imageLoader.load(new URLRequest(url));
imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, imageLoading);
imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imageLoaded);
function SitBackRelax():void
// work through image array and call loadImage()
// Does imageArea.addChild() ad each image? out of memmory !

The same problem is for the next two (commented out) timer linesI have done all this.
// *** in class ***
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import fl.containers.UILoader;
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.utils.Timer;

You CANNOT in class header
1. declare variable and instantiate them on a separate line:
This:
var imageLoader:Loader;
imageLoader = new Loader();
Must be:
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
2. Call instances API in:
This:
var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(2000,8);
myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, timerListener);
Must be:
you have to move addEventListener into some function, say constructor,
preferably - another function that initiates class variables. -
In Flex 3 how to Stop and Replay .swf animation created in Flash
Hi
I have an animation file that is created in Flash (I think
CS3). In Flex if I import it inside a SWFLoader or if I import it
as an Image. It plays once and stops. Then I can not replay it. I
also can not pause it when its playing.
I have tried few things based on help and code available in
the Web to of no help. I have tried to convert the swfLoader
instance to a movie clip like so to stop
var c:MovieClip = swfLoaderHeaddress1.content as MovieClip;
c.stop();
<mx:SWFLoader x="53" y="116" width="206" height="255.3"
visible="true"
source="assets/animations/curatorial/ZoomHeadress_2nd.swf"
id="swfLoaderHeaddress1"/>
It does not work.
I have not created the .swf animation, I am not sure how it
is done. I belive it may not be using any ActionScript as I know
the artist who created it does not know ActionScript. Does
something need to be done inside the Flash to support the stop and
play? Or is there a way to restart/replay stop a .swf animation in
Flex 3 no matter how (and whether or not its developed using
ActionScript) its developed in Flash?One way is she has to add some AS code to the animation, or
you can do it yourself.
In swf there must be something like this:
var connReciever:LocalConnection = new LocalConnection();
connReciever.client = this;
connReciever.connect("fromFlexToSWF");
function myFunction(parameter:SomeClass):void {...}
And in Flex:
var connSender:LocalConnection = new LocalConnection();
connSender.send("fromFlexToSWF", "myFunction", [..args]);
The other way: in case with just play/stop there is a way to
resolve this by using that Flex Component Kit (or maybe "Flex Skin
Design Extension", i do not remember), it is something like she
just adding labels to animation frames then she exports it with
Flex Kit and then you can work with it like with an object with
"states". -

Unable to create a 'computer image' for system recovery purposes using an external drive!
Just finished another very frustrating long session with HP Tech Support without a resolution to a simple problem.
This laptop is only 4 months old, but the hard drive is failing, according to constant notifications, and repeated BIOS hard drive diagnostic tests.
I wanted to be sure that all back-up/system restore precautions were taken. Not much to 'back-up' because the laptop is new. The standard 'back-up' was easily done on a 4 GB flash drive.
I followed instructions for 'create a system image' in order to make a 'copy of the drives required to restore your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working' (instructions right on the page).
I wanted to create this 'system image' on an external flash drive. First attempt at storing a system image failed because: 'the drive is not formatted with NTSF. The G flash drive was easily formatted to NTSF. Repeated attempts at copying now failed because: 'the drive is not a valid back-up location' (!?).
I see absolutely no clear reason why a 'computer image' cannot be created on a flash drive that has been correctly formatted.
HP Tech Support claims that the reason for this is a 'Windows incompatibility with the program' (used to create a 'system image?).
No solution was given. According to HP Tech Support, this is now a 'Windows software problem', which doesn't make any sense to me.
Standard CD-R data disks (the only ones I have on hand now) are not big enough: 700 MB capacity, but a DVD-R data disk, which has 4.7 GB capacity, may not be enough (especially in the future) for the creation of a 'system image'.
Since HP Tech Support is incapable of solving a straightforward problem like this, I am asking for some more experience tech geek to bring me up to speed on this whole issue of 'system image' creation, for the purpose of computer restoration, as I am hesitant to go ahead and remove the hard drive, if I haven't properly done everything to 'back-up' as much as I can.Again: HP Tech Support cannot answer this question for me.
I posted the above problem onto the Windows Recovery forum also.
There are super-experienced people that view these questions. (I meant the term 'geek' in an appreciative way: without users solving problems, everything would grind to a halt!).
Please, if there is anyone who can comment on this, whether the whole issue of 'system image' is redundant, whether it is necessary at all, I would be grateful for a stab at this.
I have the sense that the answer is staring me right in the face, yet even HP Tech Support has no idea what it is.
