Layers/MCs no loading in published SWF

This is boggling my mind.
Certain pieces of my published SWF are not loading on the
designed site. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this OR a
method to why it's choosing the elements in question (though it
always seems to be the same ones).
The elements that aren't loading are simple movie clips - not
externally loaded, nor even dynamically loaded from the library -
and simply don't appear on the stage. A reload usually fixes it and
the clips load; however, this, obviously, should not be a necessary
action to get the SWF to load correctly.
Does anyone have any insight at all?

Hi,
I am new to Flash but know what you are talking about (I
hope).
It sounds like you need to be reminded about the "publish"
settings. Go to your "Properties" window, select Publish:
"Settings" button to open the settings window.....
You will want to toggle the "Export Hidden Layers" checkmark
on or off depending on your needs.
Does that fix it for you? If not, I didn't mean to be a know
it all. It's probably one of the few things I do know about this
app.
Take care. :)

  • How to Load/Unload external SWF

    Hey all, I'm in a desperate struggle to meet a deadline for college coursework. I am unable to UNLOAD an external SWF file that I have put inside another SWF file. The problem that is occurring is, although it loads successfully, when I attempt to navigate to another page after viewing the external SWF, I expect it to close as it goes on to another page however, it remains in place. If i then go back on to the page that it is loading from, it will start to keep adding more and more SWF's. The print screens should explain it easier... Below i'll post the code that I'm using currently. The external SWF I am trying to load/unload is an interactive hangman game (whether it being interactive has an effect I do not know), but any and all help with this would be seriously appreciated!
    The code currently being used is:
    var _swfLoader:Loader;
    var _swfContent:MovieClip;
    loadSWF("Real Hangman.swf");
    function loadSWF(path:String):void {
       var _req:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
       _req.url = path;
       _swfLoader = new Loader();
       setupListeners(_swfLoader.contentLoaderInfo);
       _swfLoader.load(_req);
    function setupListeners(dispatcher:IEventDispatcher):void {
       dispatcher.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, addSWF);
       dispatcher.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, preloadSWF);
    function preloadSWF(event:ProgressEvent):void {
       var _perc:int = (event.bytesLoaded / event.bytesTotal) * 100;
       // swfPreloader.percentTF.text = _perc + "%";
    function addSWF(event:Event):void {
       event.target.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, addSWF);
       event.target.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, preloadSWF);
       _swfContent = event.target.content;
       _swfContent.addEventListener("close", unloadSWF);
       addChild(_swfContent);
    function unloadSWF(event:Event):void {
       _swfLoader.unloadAndStop();
    removeChild(_swfContent);
       _swfContent = null;
    This printscreen is showing what it looks like in the Flash view (plain background and external SWF loads when this SWF is published)
    What it looks like when loaded as published swf
    Picture of the external SWF working inside the other SWF
    Picture of it not being able to unload when i navigate to another page!
    Finally, a picture of it doubling up when i proceed to go on the 'game' page again, it just keeps loading the SWF's rather than unloading them!

    for example, file1 consits of two buttons, and also considered as main page. As i click on these two buttons , it will lead me go to open the external file2.swf, and file3.swf respectively. (file2.swf and file3.swf could have other navigation buttons, however, i am just simplify here).
    the code you provided is working fine. but i want to totally remove/unlink the orginal file (file1.swf) when i click on either buttons which could lead me to other page (file1.swf or file2.swf).
    Besides that, in file2.swf and file3.swf could have another "back" button to turn it back to the main page (file1.swf). When the user click on that back button, the file2.swf will unloaded...and file1.swf will be called back again...
    can it  be done?
    so sorry if my poor explanation makes you confuse..
    thank you.

  • .load method won't execute in published .swf

    Hello
    This line of code won't execute in a published .swf. Test movie (ctrl + enter) works fine.
    j_session = new URLVariables();
    j_send = new URLRequest("https://web.e-fon.ch/portal/j_acegi_security_check");
    j_loader.load(j_send);
    I'm assuming it's some type of network permission. Ideas?

    upload to a server and test or add the file that contains that code to your trusted files.
    also, you may need a cross-domain permissions file if that is a cross-domain request (if it's not, use a relative path) and you expect something returned to your flash.
    also, you're not defining or sending any variables which may or may not be an issue.

  • Published SWFs not working from CS3 on Mac?

    This one REALLY has me stumped..
    I am working on a Mac Dual 2-Gig G5 running OS 10.4.10 and
    Flash CS3.
    I have a web site for a client posted (
    http://www.aronwiesenfeld.com
    ). This site has been running flawlessly for over a year published
    to Version 8 Flash Player AS v2.0. This client asked me to create a
    new temporary splash page last night that would announce his new
    Art Show and then click on into the main site. This site uses a
    Shared Lib, a SharedTrigger, a Core SWF (containing the main site
    navigation elements and handles loading of various movies into
    levels) and a Splash SWF (that contains the two splash screens and
    initial navigation to areas of the site. The problem I THINK I am
    having is in the Splash SWF... or is a problem with my LOCAL Mac
    installation? When I click one of the 5 Site Nav buttons it is
    supposed to tell the main core movie to advance to a new frame (20)
    and I target that movie by referring to _level0. This has worked
    fine for the past year (on this and other sites). I am attaching an
    example of the code used on each of the initial Nav buttons in the
    Splash swf .
    So here is the mystery...
    When I "Test Movie" inside Flash CS3, everything works/looks
    "perfect". If I then go to the desktop and find the generated HTML
    file and open it in Safari (both version 2 and 3-beta), or Firefox
    or Opera, etc., everything looks fine until I click one of the
    initial text Nav Buttions. At that point it takes me to the main
    site and loads the external SWF into a level as it should
    (indicating that the 3rd line of code on the button is execution
    and by the fact the the Splash movie disappears, it indicates that
    the core movie is indeed moving to frame 20 (_level0) as requested
    in the first line of code. However, all of the main site navigation
    buttons along the bottom of the main site as well as the background
    NEVER APPEAR? Also when I start to move the mouse around the loaded
    external movie the site completely crashes and I get a blank screen
    - IN ALL BROWSERS whether I am launching the site from my hard
    drive or the Internet!! But it works perfect INSIDE Flash CS3.
    Now comes the real kicker...
    Just for the heck of it after spending 3 hours trying to fix
    this on my main G5 tower(publishing to Player version 9, etc.), I
    decided to try accessing the site from my old G4 laptop. Ready for
    this? The site appears to be working perfectly IN ALL BROWSERS ON
    MY G4 also running 10.4.10!!!
    So my guess is maybe their is a problem with the Flash Player
    Plugin in all my browsers on my G5 or the Flash Plugin has a
    problem with OS 10.4.10 only on my G5. BUT, even if I launch this
    site directly in Flash Player from the desktop on my G5 it does not
    work - so the stand-alone player is having the same issue - yet it
    works fine on my G5 INSIDE of Flash CS3.
    I thought I had seen it all the last 5 years with Flash, but
    this one has be completely stumped!
    My client emailed me from California and said the site was
    working fine there of his PC. If that is true then I am having a
    LOCAL Flash Player problem on my G5 running 10.4.10.
    In addition to my question, if anyone can give me feedback as
    to whether or not this site is working on your machine/browser/OS,
    could you please let me know? You will know if the site is working
    if you click on Enter Site, then click on any of the 5 buttons
    (except Info) and you see a grey background behind the image and
    the lower navigation string appears.
    Thanks!

    Well after trying everything I could think of I started down
    the list again. I re-downloaded the Flash Player 9 r47 Mac
    installer and ran the installer again (which I also did last night
    with no success).
    This time after re-installing the plugin - ALL THE BROWSERS
    IMMEDIATELY STARTED WORKING ad the site now comes up fine - so,
    apparently I had a bad Flash Player install in my browser!

  • Using Dreamweaver to create AIR app from HTML site, FLV loaded by placed SWF not loading

    Hello.
    I'm using Dreamweaver to create an HTML-based site that has pages with FLV-based videos that are loaded using a SWF file. The SWF file is just the player / skin. When I preview or publish to AIR, the videos do not show up. I'm sure others have asked how to accomplish this but I'm having difficulty finding the solution to this issue. Can someone share with them their solution please?
    Thank you!
    Robert

    Steveejay, I was having the same problem. It turns out that
    mine didn't like the fact that I was using the "POST" method in my
    loadMovie() call. I changed them to "GET", and it works fine in the
    web page now. Just doesn't work when previewing in Flash.

  • Detect flash player version of published SWF

    Hi I have a swf file (let say child.swf).
    Once It loaded I want to know parent swf was published on flash player 9 or flash player 10. How to find that?
    Question:
    1)parent.swf loades child.swf
    2)after child.swf loaded --> need to check parent.swf is published on flash player 9 or 10.
    3)if parent.swf published on flash player 9 then child.swf will run a function
    4)if parent.swf published on flash player 10 then child.swf will run some other function.
    On the above for the based on the 2nd point question 3 or 4 will happen.
    On the above case I have only one parent... In some other case I may have multiple parents. My question to how to detect top most player's published version?
    Note:
    Capabilities.version returns current flash player version which is installed on browser (it is not help my question)
    The following link has infomation about As version used on the swf (it is not help my qeuestion)

  • Concern in published SWF file using Presenter for PPTX

    I observed that the PPT files (2003 version) which were published using Presenter 7 were creating a SWF file containing multiple frames. However the PPTX files (2007) which were published using Presenter 7 were creating a SWF file containing single frame. I am wondering how do I access a movieclip containing an animation.

    Let me re-phrase.
    I am loading the Presenter SWF into my Flash file (controller). Once the file is loaded I am controlling that file; I mean to say, I play/pause or jump to particular frame using the Flash file (Controller). This was working fine when I published PPT files, however when I published the PPTX file I am not getting the expected timeline animation so as to control it.
    Now I am wondering how I can control the PPTX published file using my controller.
    I will grateful, if someone helps me to solve this issue.

  • CS5.5 Publish SWF including Main.AS script

    Hi,
    In Flash Pro CS5.5, I've created an Fla and scripted it (in AS3) using a separate AS file (package) which is linked. When I publish the SWF and both the SWF and AS files are in the same folder, it runs fine. If I separate out the SWF (without the AS file), and try to run it, it doesn't play (run the script).
    How do I include (embed) the AS file into the published SWF so that wherever the SWF is located, it is self-contained so that it plays using the script from the AS file?
    Regards,

    Hi Michael,
    Thank you for this explanation. After a lot of experimenting, I seem to be able to get the AS's script included in the published SWF, but 6 MP3's (although imported to library and/or stage) are still separated and, unless in the same folder as the SWF, will not work. With beginner skills, I think that maybe this is caused by these MP3's also being loaded in the separate AS file. Ithink that all of this could be solved if I could figure out how to put all the script in a single Fla, then maybe it could somehow  also "embed" the 6 MP3's in the final published SWF. I've tried to re-do the AS file's script, but since these are "public" class definitions, etc., keep getting error messages. Quite a "mess." Not sure how to fix it.
    Regards,

  • View last published swf from flash authoring envoirnment

    hi guys
    It might sound silly but how about having a shorcut/tool in flash IDE to view recently published swf file
    basicaly i m not updating content outside flash i.e. XML,images and I dont want to use windows explorer to run swf file and check the updated content
    Is there any quick way to achive this?
      adobe should look at these small things

    "Open Recent files" in file menu allows to open recent source files i.e. fla, as and not publised swf files
    Basicaly I my point is , why i have to publish fla when there is no channge
    I have a swf wihch is getting loaded in a container and no content/code is referenced in parent container. I am making changes in child fla and compiling it.
    to view the application i might have to  publishing Parent fla or goto explorer to run parent  swf which is very comfertable.

  • Controlling separate, freestanding swfs (not loaded parent/child swfs)

    I have a flash file with buttons and actions and 2 flash files with animations. I want to control both animation files with the one 'controler' file, at the same time.
    Note: these are separate swf/exe/app files and will run individually from the desktop, not be loaded into an swf and run online.
    How can I access the timeline of these separate files to control them?
    Thanks

  • Captivate 4 published SWFs won't play suddenly

    Hello, I have been happily making Captivate 4 training, using a template. The published SWry mF movies have been playing just fine... on my PC and several others.
    But today went to show off my work to the boss... who HAS successfully played previous Captivates I've made, and they won't play.
    Double-clicking the HTM, or trying to open the SWF from the browser just shows a blank white screen that does nothing.  What would cause a published SWF, etc., to suddenly not play on selected machines... the owner doesn't remember chanigng anything...
    And, what would be my trouble-shooting sequence to try and fix this problem?
    Thank you very much

    Hi there
    Same dog, different leg action. In other words, what you linked to is a red herring.
    What I mean by that is the article you linked to is referring to an inability to preview from Captivate 3. You are talking about Captivate 4 and the issue doesn't seem to manifest until after you publish, right?
    Sure, Flash Player 10 may appear to be the common link at the moment, but we don't know for sure. With Captivate 3, the issue was only with preview. The output worked just fine. So the issue there is with an internal mechanism in Captivate as you work to create your content. What you are seeing now is certainly related to the internals of Captivate, but 4 is a new beast. It would seem that 4 has maybe introduced something causing this for you.
    There may have been a few other posts related to this phenomenon. But they are very few and far between. Given the widespread use of the Flash Player, if it were solely an issue with the Player, I might expect we would have seen loads of reports. But we haven't.
    I'll be very interested to see what you discover. Out of curiousity, I'm guessing you have attempted different combinations of settings? AS2 VS AS3, externalizing items, etc.?
    Cheers... Rick

  • How Air 3.7 load pure graphic swfs freely without using AOT mode

    Hi Nimisha1,
    I made an ios app which loaded pure graphics swfs from remote server. I cannot use AOT mode because the new pure graphics swfs increasing every day.   AIR 3.5 works very well, but I wonder how to make it work in the same way in AIR 3.7?
    thanks in advance,
    Jackie

    Loading a swf from remote server in Air 3.7 must be in AOT mode?
    I think i should first make some terms clear to you:
    AOT mode here applies to the target ipa-app-store which is supposed to published at Apple App Store.(And offcourse for testing purposes there are ipa-ad-hoc, ipa-test and ipa-debug and these all create IPA in AOT mode).
    Till AIR 3.5 on iOS - It was not possible to load child SWFs(containing ABC code) neither locally or remotely. But yes pure assets SWFs can be loaded remotely and locally as well.
    In AIR 3.6 on iOS- Loading of child SWFs(containing ABC code) locally was made possible. More info@  http://blogs.adobe.com/airodynamics/2012/11/09/packaging-and-loading-multiple-swfs-in-air- apps-on-ios/
    And behavior for loading pure asset SWFs remain unchanged.
    In AIR 3.7 on iOS-
    Loading of child SWFs(containing ABC code) remotely was made possible. More info @ http://blogs.adobe.com/airodynamics/2013/03/08/external-hosting-of-secondary-swfs-for-air- apps-on-ios/
    And behavior for loading pure asset SWFs remain unchanged.
    But in the following screenshot I can see that publishing in AIR 3.7 is getting failed and this must be happening because some of your child SWFs must be containing ABC code and that is not getting compiled properly.
    Can you please narrow down which SWF(s) is creating this problem?

  • SWF loaded into MainNav SWF - Rollovers & Links Don't Work

    Hi all,
    This is probably a very basic question!
    I have a Fla file with Text and Movie clips in it. The Text
    is animated when rollover occurs and thumbnail images click and
    link to the full size versions.
    It works when published (Say "LatestText.SWF").
    But when I call it from my Main Nave FLA/SWF, upon loading
    the Text.SWF, the rollover anim doesn't happen and the picture
    links don't work when clicked.
    I have the latest flash player installed and the actual
    weblink cursor appears as if the SWF acknowledges everything is
    working, but nothing dynamic actually works.
    Any Ideas? THANKS ALL! Much appreciated!

    I'll try to flesh it out, although I don't think there's need
    for any code behaviours as they all work fine - until the info.SWF
    is loaded into the main.SWF.
    So i'll try my best to flesh this out:-
    I have a Navigation FLA which publishes to SWF (at the moment
    Allow access to Local Files - tried network).
    This Nav.FLA is the main bulk of the website, it has all the
    links and window panes.
    I have a downloaded window pane style component which is an
    autoscroller (in case this could be the problem).
    I can load my info.SWF's straight into the container, by way
    of an Actionscript Anim Frame (1) and when the Nav.SWF is tested or
    published, it indeed loads in the smaller info.SWF no problems and
    scrolls around beautifully,
    The Info.SWF's I'm creating is just basically embedded
    dynamic text, with a few movie clips that have Behaviours when
    clicked or rolled-over.
    These Behaviours do not seem to work when the Nav.SWF's
    window pane loads in the Info.SWF - they APPEAR clickable (mouse
    pointer changes to hand) but nothing clicks and THEN works. The
    rollover animations (actioned via behaviours from LABELS - not
    frame numbers) also do not work?
    Any ideas from those that know to those that struggle would
    be greatly appreciated! It's the first time I've encountered a
    problem with my Flash website that I can't seem to find an answer
    to in all my tutorials and books!
    There's a challenge!

  • Problems loading Adobe Flash SWF file

    Our users are experienceing problems loading Adobe Flash SWF
    files.
    One example of a problem file is:
    http://www.adobe.com/enterprise/accessibility/popup_acr8_accessibility.html
    User traffic is flowing through a Cisco ASA firewall - these
    problems do not seem to occur from home networks or a Netscreen
    firewall. The Cisco ASA does NOT have http deep packet inspection
    turned on, and any traffic initiated by clients inside the firewall
    should be allowed. The symptom is that Internet Explorer will begin
    to download the video, but will hang at some point along the way
    (for this particular URL it hangs at about 7%). No error messages
    are displayed, but the video never displays on the screen either. I
    would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have run into this
    before, or if someone can explain what is different about this type
    of file from regular Adobe Flash, that might help figure out what
    the ASA is objecting to. The ASA does not appear to generate any
    log messages about denying this type of traffic either.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

    Thanks, but I use publish/export settings with GPU hardware acceleration and flash version 11.2 (and 11.8) but nothing happening.
    And why gif file is not all transparenty then I insert on lightblue background? It can't export good quality? Also I use Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Edge Animate. And nothing happening. Egde animate file .oam is not good for old website navigation. It can't be inserted in freeshop site from navigation... I use logo file .oam just for example here - http://e-shoptagras.graphicsrim.eu
    In reality I want swf file, but we don't find why logo flickering? here http://tagraseshop.graphicsrim.eu

    how are you running your file, is it scorm packaged or just html based?
