LDAP Servers not listed when trying to setup new LDAP connection

Using SQL Developer: 1.5.1
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0
Windows XP client environment
Can anyone clarify how to setup LDAP connections in SQL Developer. We use LDAP for our connections with all the other Oracle tools like SQL*Plus and other developer tools like forms. LDAP is working fine for all of those tools. However, when I try to setup an LDAP connection for SQL*Developer no servers are found for the drop down box. Do we need to put the sqlnet.ora and ldap.ora files somehwere so that SQL Developer can find them? Does SQL Developer even need them? How does the LDAP server get populated in SQL Developer? Thanks. I have tried looking at other posts on this issue and nothing really jumped out at how to do this. I do have some older version Oracle homes setup also. For example we have a Oracle 6i home setup on our machines for the old versions of forms and reports.

I set it to C:\Oracle10g_DevSuiteHome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN. This is under one of my Oracle Homes on this machine that contains the sqlnet.ora and the LDAP.ora files. This didn't appear to make any difference. Still no LDAP servers listed when you try to add or build a new connection. I tried some of my other Oracle Homes and still no effect. I have also tried copying the sqlnet.or and the ldap.ora files to other directories. I have switched my default Oracle Home to point to the 9i and above homes and this made no difference.
I have never had to do anything with an environment variable called TNS_ADMIN before. I almost remember a variable called TNS_ADMIN years ago in the registery that had to be modified and it was TNS_ADMIN if I remember correclty. When you said to set an environment variable you did mean to just set or create a new environment variable using the My Computer > Properties > Advanced Tab > Environment Variables on the client machine. I just want to make sure I set the right variable. Thanks for you help and suggestons.
By the way I can connect just fine using basic or advanced connections. I just would like to use LDAP so I don't have to maintain connections when port, server or SID change. For example we just failed over and the fail over database is on a different server. We do this as a test or when needed for failover purposes. If you are using the basic and advanced connections you need to go in a update connection information. If we use LDAP this is all maintained by the DBAs and individual clients shouldn't have to maintain any connection information as long as the have the right SID. The documentation for SQL Developer doesn't really seem to address how to setup LDAP connections it just mentions that you can do it and it sounds simple.

Not necessarily. In v7x they changed the BlackBerry backups to bbb but the Playbook was always bbb. it used to be that bbb files from the Playbook were merely .zip files and it was possible to change the extension and then unzip the files and see what was in it. I think that has changed but the bbb extension didn't change.

Local logical system is not defined when tried to create new maint. trx.

Dear Experts,
I encountered this message "Local logical system is not defined" when I tried to create new maintenance transaction in DWSP (at Maintenance Optimizer of Solution Manager).
This message kept on appeared even though I've created and assigned the logical system at SALE.
Does anyone know what went wrong?

login to your solman system, go to the table T000 and update the logical system name in the field LOGSYS
this vanish the error message.Please try.

HP CM1415FN not listed when trying to scan on Imac and Acrobat X

I have an Imac and Im running Acrobat X for Mac. I have a network Multi Function centre from HP CM1415FN. The Scanner works fine on the Mac when scanning from other programs but when i try and "create PDF from scanner" there are no devices listed in the scanner drop down list. Thanks for your help in advance.

When you go to Printer/Fax System Preferences does it resemble something like this:

if so set that to scanner first.
Then go into Acrobat and see if the scanner is now shown.
Its only been since OSX.6 That scanners have been acknowledged.
You may have to go to HP and download scanner software for your Printer and work through it.
THere is a SANE/TWAIN Driver that you can download from The SANE project (when you open first page of the website read text and look for link to Macintosh) when you get that page follow diections and download all components (5-6) for the OS your using. Do not download the SDK files unless you are a developer. install all of them . Restart Computer. Repair permissions. Now go to preferences. You will see a new Control panel associated with the package of files downloaded. Now open it and select your Printer.
Once set quite preferences, Fire up Acrobat. See if it shows something like SANE/TWAIN. If so your all set.
Note the software is slow because it converting SANE Commands to Twain Commands . But it works quite nicely.

Administrator not recognised when trying to install new software

since i added (and subsequently) deleted an additional user in the accounts window, i've been unable to install updates or software requiring my admin account / password. the message is - The software to be installed requires administrator or higher level access privileges.

Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
START/CONTROL PANEL/Programs n Features/highlight ASU and click REPAIR,

If you are uploading using a browser your photos are accessed through the media browser in the lower left ahnd corner of the puload window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

Issues when trying to setup alternate sync location of OneDrive for Business / SharePoint 2013 Libraries

I have an issue that prevents me from choosing the alternate location of sync'ed OneDrive for Business folders. I'm trying to setup an alternate location for synchronization, using the guidelines found in the Office support web site.
The option to replace the default sync location appears the first time a SharePoint 2013 Library or OneDrive for Business is setup for synchronization.

At this point, the Library or personal OneDrive folder syncs correctly and the files are stored in the alternate choosen location.
However, on when trying to setup an additionnal Library for synchronization, the alternate sync location has not been saved and reverts to the default sync location. Furthermore, the option to replace the default sync location does no longer appear
on the dialog box.

I have tried by first sync'ing a SharePoint 2013 Library (instead of the personal OneDrive for Business folder) with the same result. Meaning that the first SharePoint 2013 Library correctly sync's in the alternate location of my choosing. However,
any subsequent attempts to sync either a SharePoint 2013 Library or the OneDrive for Business folder results in them being sync'ed to the original default location in a folder under the user's profile directory.
I'm using Office Professional Plus 2013 (64bits). The version of Groove.exe is 15.0.4605.1000 (12th March 2014 - 13 383 360 bytes).
Is there something I'm missing ?

You can change the root path for libraries you sync to your computer, though you can do this only if you’re not currently syncing any libraries. If you’re already syncing at least one library and you want to change the path, you must first
stop syncing all libraries. Then, the first time you run the OneDrive for Business wizard to sync a library to your computer, you’ll see an option to change the location.

Getting error "Object variable or with block variable not set" when trying to open a FR report in studio

Problem Description
We are on FR 11.1.2.2.305 installed on AIX. a user is getting this error: "Object variable or with block variable not set" when trying to open a FR report from FR studio client installed on windows xp . Initialy, we thought it may be a FR client installion issue. We uninstalled and cleaned up registry and did a fresh installation of the client but the issue still persists. The FR server and the client are on the same version.
The user is a LDAP user who is facing the issue. We have confirmed with other users and they dont have any issue accessing FR report from their own client but when they try to connect from the users machine who is having issues, the others users also see the above error. All the users are ldap users and all belong to same shared services groups so the provisiong is the same.
Any input will be appreciated.

Trying to setup a LDAP Realm

I'm runing WLS6.0 SP2 and I'm trying to set up a LDAP realm to talk to a openldap
server. I'm on Win2k and have it installed as a service.
I can connect to the server via a ldap browser, and I have a user in the ldap
tree with a clear text password.
I created a LDAP realm but I can't find where to configure WebLogic to use that
LDAP realm for authentication.

I guess they don't use the LDAP Realm in Weblogic, you should create your custom
realm that access to AD and return user/group enumerations, acl's, etc...
I'm able to access to AD using jdk1.4, and I have my custom realm, the only
problem is wl uses jdk1.3 (+jaas) and I couldn't connect to AD with the old jaas,
because it didn't support kerberos authentication. A more complete jaas it's included
in jdk1.4

Keep getting Disc Burner or software not found when trying to burn a CD

I am not able to burn a playlist to a CD and get an error at the top of Itunes window "Disc Burner or Software Not Found". I have been able to burn CDs in the past with this same computer but had some issues with songs in itunes. Support had me uninstall Itunes and reinstall. I have also uninstalled the device in the device manager and re-installed it. I really don't know what to try except to ask for help here. I would appreciate any direction I can get. I have a Dell desktop XPS running on Windows 8.

It sounds like you receive the error "Disc Burner or Software Not Found" when trying to burn CDs. You mention that you've already tried removing and reinstalling iTunes, and other drivers, and these are good steps.

iPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync with official apple lightening cable.
It worked for almost a year then suddenly began to say that. My computer [windows], lightening cable and my power brick [all apple official] are all the same as they were when it was working. The iPod is almost a year old now, and has worked perfectly up until about a week ago.
I have tried resetting the iPod, plugging it into different charging sources but it keeps saying "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported"
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Your iPod Nano firmware and iTunes updated to the current versions?
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

If you are having issues with printing from your iMac I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Specifically -
Troubleshooting steps you can use if there is an issue
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system (see below). Then, add the printer again.
If the issue persists, reset the printing system again. Download and install your printer's drivers from here. Then, add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
