LE doesn't receive additional input channels

I'm trying to add four more input channels to my recording system and Logic Express is not registering any signal.
My main unit is a MOTU 896HD and has been working very well for the past year. I recently added a Presonus Digimax 96K and connected it via the ADAT Lightpipe.
Using the MOTU Cuemix console, all inputs are functioning and operating well. I've tested the unit and have gotten output from all available channels (8 from the MOTU, 8 from the Digimax). The problem is that Logic is not showing any signal from input channels 9 - 12 (I know that Logic Express is limited to receiving 12 simultaneous input channels).
I assume that LE will simply add the first four channels of the Digimax to the list of available input channels for a total of 12 channels.
The drop-down menu in the I/O selector show 12 inputs and I can select one of those tracks, but no signal is received.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

So here's what I found out, on my own, by digging under the hood:
The Mac uses the "Aggregate Device" through the Audio MIDI Setup utility. When I checked it out (last night, for the first time) it showed the MOTU 896HD with 20 inputs and 22 outputs. The Mac OS had already recognized the increase of channels introduced by the DigiMax. So then I knew my problem was within Logic (what a lousy name for such a confusing program).
A friend of mine, who records with MOTU Digital Performer, suggested that my problem was a "routing loop." So I looked for proof that channels 9-12 in Logic were not actual recording channels. This proved to be the case once I understood how to read the device info in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. It turns out that tracks 9 & 10 are for AES/EBU and tracks 11 & 12 are for "Mix1". There was my faulty routing loop. Tracks 11 & 12 were the ones that gave me squealing problems.
Tracks 13 - 20 were correctly labeled "ADAT" in the Audio MIDI utility.
So, I went back to AudioDesk (free with the MOTU 896HD), where I have been having great success in setting up my live recording channels (i.e., no feedback, good signals on all channels). When I create a new track in AudioDesk, it's simple to select the correct input channel. In other words, input 9, 10, 11, & 12 were actual input channels, not an AES/EBU signal or a "Mix1" signal. It was in the program's "Audio Monitor" panel that I saw that input signals for tracks 9-12 were actually from hardware channels 13-16.
I went to bed and considered my problem solved.
The bummer from this lesson is that Logic Express accepts only 12 inputs. To access any inputs (hardware channels) above #12 I must either upgrade to Logic Pro or switch to a new recording software. I've spent about $200 on Garageband plug-ins for MIDI instruments and feel just a little peeved that I'm in this predicament. 8^P
At this point, I'm not a fan of Logic. The product name should be "Sucka!", with the tag line "You upgraded from GarageBand and expected a similar interface, workflow and ease of use. Ha!"
I hope my little lesson helps someone else in the future.

Finally found the correct forum to paste this question of mine.
Hi! I have this Java code to write to a serial port. The code compiles all right, and the hardware is a USB-to-Serial and has no problem (I have tried it on hyperterminal).

I know that the microcontroller doesn't receive any input because it's supposed to light a certain LED when it receives any input. Hyperterminal does that well.
    Any ideas pls?

There are any number of possibilities (wrong serial port, baud rate wrong, wrong handshake, crossed input and output etc) most of which can be checked by attaching an oscilloscope (or similar) to the port. The first thing I do with any serial port stuff is to create a loopback connector to see if I am talking to the correct port at the correct speed using the correct handshake.

  • Receiver SOAP Communication channel -- Target URL

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone provide some inputs for my below question?
How the receiver SOAP Communication channel internally calls the Target URL?
What is the internal process behind this call?

    Hi...
To be able to send SOAP messages from the Integration Server/PCK to remote clients or Web service servers, you must first configure the receiver SOAP adapter. The receiver adapter supports system acknowledgments but not application acknowledgments

  • How to set audio hardware input channels for narration & to what?

Searched forum - hope I didn't miss solution for the following:
    Using PE3 in Windows XPSP3
Tried for the first time to add narration to a project. Was using a stereo/microphone headset. Got nothing but noise. Could record in Windows recorder and Audacity. However, the microphone as part of the set would not work in Windows Audio Hardware Test Wizard. The set was using a sound chip on the motherboard.
A friend of mine has the same OS, motherboard and is using PE3. He too had never tried adding narration - but tried with a USP connected set, and was successful.
I removed my stereo set, and connected a USB set. To make sure all settings were reset, I did a cold reboot. The USB set worked in Windows Audio Test Wizard. I opened my project again, and in Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware, clicked AIIO Settings. Unchecked the old set (Realtek) in both the Output and Input Ports area, checked the USB Audio Device, moved to the top of both lists.
Then tried to add narration and got the error message "Your current audio hardware selection does not have any input channels. Please use Preferences>Audio Hardware to correct this problem.
Thinking that maybe this was a preset for the project and couldn't be changed, I started a new project, no video, just tried to add narration, and got the same message.
The entries in the columns in the ASIO Direct Sound for Full Duplex Setup menu for the USB Audio Device in the Input section are: 2048, 0, 1, 16, Yes
The only one of these that seems to be able to be adjusted is the second number - the Offset (Samples). The Audio Channels number is set to 1 and doesn't seem to be changeable. Suggestions?

When working with Audio in most NLE's, i.e. Premiere Elements, or Pro, there are basically three areas that can affect how the Audio is handled on one's system. First, there is the Sound settings in Windows (from Control Panel). Next, the Audio card/chip probably/possibly has a console to make settings at the card/chip level. Last, and these are really two locations, but I'm only counting them as one since they are both in the NLE - Edit>Preferences>Audio & Audio Hardware. This is where Steve is referring to. Check all settings, and I'd suggest doing so in the order that I listed them above: OS, Audio card, then Premiere. A Mute, or by-pass in the first two, can override the settings in Premiere, and you may have its setting correct, but still not be able to effectively use your hardware.
The exact settings chosen will depend on the exact hardware that is properly installed. Without knowing all of your hardware and other settings elsewhere, one cannot give you a definitive answer. Ideally, in the settings drop-downs, you *should* see your hardware listed. Look closely, as these can be a bit cryptic.
If you are still unable to get your hardware working properly, a fourth place to look would be Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager for your Audio hardware. Check that Device Manager sees your hardware, and that it is working properly.
If all is set up properly, but still not working, report back with exact specs on your system, including all of your Audio hardware. There are possibly some more steps that can be taken. I will not mention them now, as they *should not* be needed. If you do need further assistance, please list every option in all of the drop-down lists from Premiere, so we can know what your choices are.
    Good luck,

  • DIAdem: How to store the input channel information from the Analysis modules

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to store the input channel name(s) when executing modules from the Analysis Panel. For example, when I run an FFT on a set of data: x-channel: "[1]/Time" y-channel: "[1]/Voltage" , I would like to be able to store this information as a custom channel property in the output file (ex. "[1]/AutoSpectrum").
The only place I've found that contains this "history" information is in the log section of the Analyze Panel. However, I have not been able to figure out how to access the information in the Analysis log programatically through VBS scripting.
    Thanks

    Hi Brad,
So here's where I'm struggling. My tool is more a set of tools. I have created custom bars that launch the appropriate dialog box for each tool. Let me give you and example of the kind of work flow I that might be used:
The user loads up a TDM file or imports data using a DataPlugin. Then, they launch my tool for going through each channel and adding custom properties (sensor type, sensor location, etc). Once all properties have been applied to the channels they close that tool. Now they fire up the Smoothing module in ANALYSIS and save the result as a new channel. Next, they launch my tool for computing the Shock Response for that event. When the user has the desired output, they run my plotting SUD. This is where they can select which report template to use and which channels to plot. The selected channel(s) used for plotting doesn't have all of the custom properties that we taged in the original data channels.
As you can see, the process involves using some of my own custom SUDs where I can keep track of everything but also allows the user to use any of DIAdem's native functions. This is where I am struggling to be able to keep track of the channels used as input. I can "see" the info I need listed in the log section of the ANALYSIS Panel but can't pragmatically access it (the info in the main display window). It would be really handy if this info was automatically stored in the channel properties of each output channel.
I guess my only option is to (in the plotting SUD) not only ask the user for the channels to plot, but also ask them to select the coresponding original channels that have the custom properties.

  • OTL (Additional Input Value) help greatly appreciated

    Hi there,
I have a requirement where we wish to use OTL for a front end to a number of allowances which require the population of additional input values on the element. These could be for example miles travelled or the method of travel.
Does anyone know how this can be done?
I am envisaging creating an element with the following input values :-
    Hours
    Multiple
    Rate
    Rate Code
    Miles
I need the additional field to be displayed on the timecard. Does this require custom timecard templates? How do I make the additional field on the timecard populate the Miles input value when the time entry is transferred from OTL to BEE.
Any advice on this would be very greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks and have a great week
    Kev

You need to follow these steps:
    1. Add the input values to your Element, check element link, include the element to your element set, run "generate flexfield process" with the above element set.
    2. Create mapping components for each of the new fields which you want to show on the timecard to let system know which column these attributes will get mapped to.
    3. Add the mapping components to your receiving application's Retrieval and Deposit process.
    4. Now modify your timecard layouts to show the additional fields you want to show.

  • Measurement output keeps drifting, even when the input channel are shorted out.

    Dear Technical Engineer,
    Greetings!
Currently, we are conducting a voltage measuring experiment with your DAQ card "NI PCIe-6353". The voltage we are concerning is a slow variable ranging from 0-20mV.
However, we met some problems operating your device.
1.When the input channel is vacant (no connection to any voltage output), the measurement curve displayed in the test panel (built in your driver) keeps drifting (from some point to -10V, then slowly upwards to +10V, then downwards...), but not stays at 0V.
2.The moment we connect the input channel to a DC stabilized power supply (2V), the measurement curve displays a quick step, but not step to 2V. Then, it continues to drift downwards.
3.When we short out the input channel (for example, connect “33 A1” with “32 A1 GND”), the measurement output still keeps drifting, but not displays 0.
Thus, we wonder if some settings should be regulated, or if there is something wrong with our operations, or there is an additional grounding option that we missed, or the device just breaks down. Could you please give us your valuable suggestions?
If you need any more informations, please do not hesitate to contact us (email:[email protected]). Thanks for your time and attention! We are looking forward to your kind reply.
    Best,
    Xianke

    Hi Xianke,
It sounds like you may have your measurement configured in differential mode. If so, then you should read 0V when you short pin 66 AI1- to pin 33 AI1. Do you see this same behavior on other channels?
It looks like the default input configuration is differential, so you can also leave your wiring as it is, and change to RSE.

  • FaceTime keeps trying to call but the other person doesn't receive it.

I'm trying to FaceTime an iPhone 5 and it just keeps ringing forever. The person on the other end doesn't receive any notification that I'm trying to call. I'm having the problem on both my iPhone 6 and my Macbook Air (mid-2013), and have tried on both WiFi and mobile (4G) networks. They are both using the same Apple ID account, and everyone involved has everything updated to the max. I've tried signing out of my Apple ID account and back in again on both devices, at different times and at the same time, with no effect.
I have previously FaceTimed the same person successfully from my iPhone 6 (over 4G, in January when I first got the phone) and Macbook (last year, and over a different wifi network).
It's super frustrating that Skype is being more reliable than FaceTime.
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Good day la_pahina,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
You mention that you're not able to make a FaceTime call using your iPhone 6 or MacBook Air. It can be frustrating when services like FaceTime don't work as they should.
Making sure all devices are updated to the max was a good troubleshooting step, as well as signing out and back in to FaceTime, and switching between Wi-Fi and Cellular networks.
If you are they have had the opportunity to test: Can you place FaceTime calls to other people, or can they receive FaceTime calls from other people?
Depending on if you or your friend see this behavior when making or receiving FaceTime calls to other people, you or they can try the additional steps in this article to troubleshoot the issue further:

  • Acquiring a waveform from the input channel

Hi, while I am trying to acquire teh waveform from the input channel,
it is not showing up in Labview "waveform graph", but the same
waveform is seen on the oscilloscope. I am using NI PCI 6052-E DAQ
    board.

    Greetings Amu,
How have you configured the PCI-6025E? Is it configured for
    differential readings or single-ended readings?
By default, the configuration of the device will be differential,
which means that two input channels are used for every input signal.
When configured in differential mode, you need to connect the positive
terminal of the signal to channel X and the negative terminal of the
signal to channel X+8. For reading a differential signal from channel
0, you will connect the positive terminal of the signal to channel 0
(pin 68) and the negative terminal of the signal to channel 8 (pin
    34).
I would suggest to use the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
software to test the signal before going to LabVIEW. Open MAX and go
    to the devices and i
nterfaces folder. The PCI-6052E should be located
in this folder. Right-click on the PCI-6052E and select test panels
and you will be able to test the input signal here. You can change
the mode to continuous and set an sampling rate in the test panels as
    well.
Once you can view the signal in the test panel of MAX then I would
suggest to move to LabVIEW. Search for the shipping example entitled
'Cont Acq&Chart (buffered) VI' which is a continuous analog input
example. Select the device number, channel number, and scan rate and
    run the VI.
For more information on connecting your signals to the PCI-6052E I
would suggest to refer to chapter 4 of the user manual. I've linked
    it below for your reference.

    I hope this helps.

  • A problem testing input channels on 6527 card, they won't turn on via studio

    Hi.
I have installed the card correctly (it passes the test) and wrote an application catching events in case of output/input changes.
I wanted to test the application via the measurment studio, but I can not turn the input channels on, i.e. nothing happens when I press the "Make input button". The output channels testing works great.
    Thanks 4 your time.

    Hello;
You can do two tests at this point to make sure the digital lines are working properly. The first one is to run Test Panel in MAX, go to the digital tab, configure the same digital line you are having problems on Measurement Studio, and see if that works fine in MAX. If it doesn't the board is probably defected.
If that works out fine, you can now run one of the shipping examples that shows how to do digital lines, for Measurement Studio. You can find those examples at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\examples\Visual Basic. If that works out fine too, the problem is most likely on your Software.
    Hope this helps.

the x1222 includes a 2 channel audio interface, 2 channels are all you can get from it.
the most you can do is record to 2 tracks at a time; skim this tute to see how:

Have her check her "You can be received at ..." settings (Settings/ FaceTime) to see what she's set up as the points of contact to reach her via FaceTime (can be one or multiple e-mails or a phone number).  Perhaps you're trying to FaceTime her on an e-mail or phone number which she's not using for FaceTime.
