Leopard Pro Rated ????

Why is the software not pro rated. If you are going to offer a pro rated price for those who purchased in Oct. then why not pro rate a price for those who bought in Sept? Very frustrating to spend 2500.00 on a mac book pro and have a new operating system come out a month later and not be offered a deal. Customer Service makes a company, not taking advantage of your customers.

Hello Derron!
Wasn't your question sufficiently answered in your duplicate Topic here Pro Rated Price?

  • Javascript - Working with Dates, Selection Boxes & Pro-Rated Amounts to Calculate Costs

Hi, I'm looking for some help. I'm new to Javascript and working off my limited knowledge. Below are three (3) items I need help figuring out.
    ---JavaScript 1: Today---
I have a Document Level Javascript that gets the current date and automatically enters it into a field. Below is the example:
    var f = this.getField("Today");f.value = util.printd("mm/dd/yyyy", new Date());
Problem: Each time I open the PDF, the date gets updated.
Need: I would like for the date to only be updated if the field is blank (empty).
    ---JavaScript 2: Registration Fee---
On this same form (application) I would like to calculate TWO costs. The first cost is mandatory registration cost, however the amount is prorated based on the month the application is filled out. Below is the pro-rated amounts based on the remaining months in the year:
    Months Remaining     Fee
              12                       $15.00
              11                       $13.75
              10                       $12.50
              9                         $11.25
              8                         $10.00
              7                         $8.75
              6                         $7.50
              5                         $6.25
              4                         $5.00
              3                         $3.75
              2                         $2.50
              1                         $1.25
Note: The cost per month is $1.25. You are required to pay for the current month plus any remaining months.
So let's assume that you fill the application out in May 15th (05/18/2013). There are eight (8) months remaining in the year [May - Dec], so the pro-rated cost is $10.00 (See chart above).
For this calculation, I need to create a Document Level Javascript that would get the date from the field we used above called "Today" and calculate the "Registration Fee" based on the pro-rated amount. Then I would enter the cost into two fields (Dollars & Cents) as "10 00". (See below).
    Form Example: $ [Text Field - Combo 2 characters] . [Text Field - Combo 2 characters] ---> "$ 10 . 00"
    ---JavaScript 3: Subscription Fee---
The next fee is an optional fee for a magazine subscription. On the form, the user will check a box (Named: "Subscription") if they want to subscribe to this magazine. This is similar to the example above in that the costs is based on a pro-rated amount. Below is the pro-rated amounts based on the remaining months in the year:
    Months Remaining               Fee
              12                       $12.00
              11                       $11.00
              10                       $10.00
              9                         $9.00
              8                         $8.00
              7                         $7.00
              6                         $6.00
              5                         $5.00
              4                         $4.00
              3                         $3.00
              2                         $2.00
              1                         $0.00
Note: The cost per month is $1.00. Unlike the previous example, you are ONLY required to pay for the remaining months.
So let's assume that you fill the application out in May 15th (05/18/2013). There are eight (7) months remaining in the year [Jun - Dec], so the pro-rated cost is $7.00 (See chart above).
For this calculation, I need to create a Document Level Javascript: If the user checks a box (Named: "Subscription") requesting the subscription, then get the date from the field we used above called "Today" and calculate the "Subscription Fee" based on the pro-rated amount. I would enter the cost into two fields (Dollars & Cents) as "10 00". (Same as above).
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Two questions:
    1. For "function calculateRegistrationFee", how do I format the return value into 2 parts in order to populate the different fields below. Let's use this example, see screen shot below:
    2. For "function calculateSubscriptionFee", how do I format the return value into 2 parts (like question 1) & adjust for check box variable. If the user checks a box (named: "Subscription") requesting the subscription, then calculate cost. Else cost is $0.00. See screen shot:
    Thanks,
    Stephen

  • Data usage not pro-rated?

Ok--I upgraded my account to include data usage of 4GB on July 7th.  When I received my bill I was quite surprised to see 2 months worth of the data plan on there as I had already paid July's bill.  Since the billing cycle for July ended on 7/10 why was my $70 billing for the month of July not pro-rated down to approximately $7(10%) as I only had it for 3 days of the billing cycle?
Subject was edited by: Verizon Moderator

When you make a plan change, you have three options:
Backdate, to include the full current billing cycle.  Full charge for the month, full complement of minutes, data, texts - whatever you are changing.  This is what you chose or opted for.  If you increased your data allowance to cover overages already incurred, this would be the only wise choice.   Full charge for 6/10 - 7/10, full use of the 4 GB data.
Effective the date of the change, in your case, 3 days before the next billing cycle.  By choosing this option, you would only have 400MB of data allowed for the last 3 days of your cycle, and about 1.8 GB for the prior 27 days, so just over 2 GB for the month - probably not enough if you were making the change because you were over your 2 GB allowance.
Future date, to start with the next billing cycle, does no good if you are already over, but works if you anticipate a heavy usage month.
So, if you were already over your 2 GB, and by more than just a little, then prorating for 3 days would not be helpful.  Pro-rating applies to both the charges and the allowance.  You pay 10% of the fee, you get 10% of the data.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

I've been active duty military for 6+ years, and have constantly asked about getting a military discount. • Data charge not-pro-rated when upgrading

Thank you Verizon for finding another way to screw loyal customers.
I recently upgraded to a smart phone in mid-month.  When my bill arrived I was charged the full month's data charge for the month in which I upgraded.  It's $30.  Pro-rated it would have been more like $10.  Frankly, you could have given me that one as a thank you for years of being a loyal customer.  I could have switched to Boost or Cricket for a lot less.  Instead you charge me for the whole month.  Sure, we're talking $10, $20... won't break me, but add it up and it's millions of overcharges for Verizon.
Any lawyers out there who would like to launch another class action suit against greedy telecoms?  ********.  I suppose I could call and waste $20 worth of your customer service time, but I have better things to do.

I am recently pretty unhappy with Verizon, they disbanded their customer loyalty group and when I got a new plan I lost 4 mos of a credit I was to receive for "being a loyal customer" and not cancelling service, instead I upgraded and continued another 2 years...but got my son a new phone requiring a new plan and I am sorry you just lost that credit and we won't give it to you.  Nice customer service, what happened to fixing things for your customers, and loyalty yes says alot that they disbanded that group.  Also they are having issues with data looking high and I see NOTHING about it posted anywhere, but took several hours and days to talk to several people to find it's a known issue.

  • Why is Verizon greedy and not pro-rating service?

Called today to cancel my acct and was told I have to wait 3 more weeks until end of cycle. That's not a customer-oriented policy. Why not pro-rate it and end it when customer wants to end it? Pro-rating will increase customer satisfaction and boost customer loyalty. Verizon, don't you get it? People are getting fed up with GREEDY Corporations. Namaste.

It has been in the contract as long as I can remember, many reps have come on here reinforcing that wording in the contract and countless people who have ported/canceled their service have also come on these forums complaining about their final bill NOT being pro-rated OR any refund being issued. This is for people in contract AND out of contract. Of course, you could be right and it may have been different at some point. For years, this is the way it has worked, though.
Personally, I have never ported a number out of Verizon, so I have no personal knowledge.
Are you speaking from personal experience? You ported out and are now back with Verizon???

  • Macbook, Snow Leopard, Pro Tools 8 Firewire Conflict

I apologized in advance if this issue has already been posted, but I was unable to find it using the search function.
I have been getting a 6101 error while running M-Powered Pro Tools 8 (8.04)using 2 different M-Audio Firewire Interfaces (Firewire410 and Profire 610). I am only playing back 3 audio track w/no plug ins. CPU usage hasn't gone over 5% and I am getting a Hardware Buffer Error, whcih I have changed numerous times to no avail. I have a new, clean install of Snow Leopard, ProTools, and Interface Drivers with all of the latest updates. Hardware Settings: (1024 Samples, 1 Processor, 95% CPU Available)
However, I tried the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra USB 2 interface and have had no issues. I have ran through the session over 15 times and haven't had a crash.
Is there any known conflict between Snow Leopard, the firewire drivers and, the latest ProTools/M-Audio components? And, is there a workaround/new firewire driver that will fix this problem??
    Thanks,

    M-Powered Pro Tools 8.0.4

Ok, that's what I have done... I have Snow Leopard Installed, 10.8.6 and it's got Boot Camp 3.0.4... my questionis the Mac Windows Install Drivers you add after installing Windows. Windows looks terribly awkward and I'm guessing it has something to do with the ATI graphics card sofware the mac disk installed. Is is ok to use the one I created years ago? I can't seem to find a place to create a new one using the 10.8.6 and 3.0.4.
When I orignially installed Boot Camp you had to create a disk using Boot Camp that you installed in Windows after the initial OS installation.

  • Issues with compatibility, Lion, Leopard, Pro Tools reinstall

    Geetings,
I upgraded to Lion but now my Pro-Tools 8.03 LE m-powered, isnt compatible. I have a Macbook 2009 4 gig ram, duo intel which is now Lion. and Mbox 2 mini
So I partitioned an external drive with Snow Leopard, but now my Pro-Tools DVD installer isnt reading, nothing happens, so I cant do a clean install.
I cannot move the pro-tools files over to the new drive either. Does anyone know how I can get my Protools working on the external drive/Snow Leopard?
I cant afford to upgrade Pro-Tools. Digidesign/Avid is angering alot of people lately with all of this confusion. Its my fault for not looking into it before I upgraded.
    Thanks much

I understand that to be a hardware/software combination that is probably written in PowerPC so it needs Rosetta to work on an Intel Mac.
Installing Snow Leopard (with the OPTIONAL installation of Rosetta TURNED ON - redo this if you did not optionally install Rosetta) should work to allow you the "dual-boot" of running Snow Leopard when you need access to ProTools 8 LE and Mbox 2 mini.
Be sure to attempt to install this software into your external drive while Snow Leopard is the operating version of OS X.

  • Leopard + Pro Tools 7.4 LE

When will the new Leopard be compatible with Pro Tools 7.4 LE? Can I download a compatible upgrade online?

I just got a email responce to the question from digidesign, it looks like one to two months from now LE will be out. I have my new Mac Pro 8 core sitting in the closet waiting the new release. For now it is a really expensive gaming machine. I can't wait to be able to mix with the new Power Mac. Hope fully three times more mixing power than my G5.
Here is the info they released on 4/5/08 from Digidesign
    Hello Everyone,
I'm Dave Lebolt, general manager of Digidesign. I wanted to take a moment to talk to you about what is happening with Mac OS X Leopard and support in Pro Tools. Some of you have commented that getting Leopard qualified far earlier than now would seem like a "no-brainer," or that Digidesign is often far too late in coming on line in support of newer OS versions. Some have hypothesized that we will charge for an upgrade just to offer you Leopard support. Some people have even said that it's possible that Apple may be causing problems for Pro Tools on purpose. And some folks have said all of these things at once!
The first thing I want to say to all of you is: I'm sorry. I'm sorry that getting here is taking so long and that we have not been able to communicate more about it, and also because we really do care about your experience as customers... People working here are passionate about Pro Tools, a lot of us here want to use our product with Leopard too, and most of all we care because we genuinely want to do anything we can to help you be creative and successful in what you do. So I'm sorry if we're letting you down by not getting things released sooner.
Lack of Leopard support across our product line affects many of you (and affects our business), so I wanted to give you some insight into what's been happening and where we are in the process. Some quick answers to the above statements:
    * We have an excellent working relationship with Apple. I have regular communications with senior folks there, as do many others in our organization with their peers (especially engineering and test). The people I talk to at Apple want Pro Tools to be compatible as much as we do; they know that a lot of you are our mutual customers. Ultimately, Apple considers Digidesign to be an important developer on the platform.
    * Rest assured, we will not charge Pro Tools 7.4 owners for an update to support OS X Leopard. In fact, it is not our policy (nor has it ever been) to charge for a "dot release" where the only change is support for a new OS version.
    * We'd love to have the new Leopard compatible version out to all of you, and it's very painful not to have it for everyone right now. We start work on the qualification (and development process as required) early in the cycle. We begin work on the "seed" versions of the operating system as soon as they are available and sometimes things are changing even as the initial OS release goes to market. If anything changes after that (i.e., a dot release), we sometimes have to start over in addressing any problems that may be newly introduced and go through entirely new rounds of testing to ensure quality.
    What's The Current Status?
We have been working hard on supporting OS X Leopard since its introduction to developers at WWDC in 2006 for many months (including some period of time prior to Leopard's release). As is often the case with entirely new major OS versions, there were some quick "dot" releases after introduction. Many of the problems that Apple addressed in these dot releases were critical to improve OS X Leopard operations (you can read about some of them on the support section of Apple's website). These improvements and fixes were very valuable to a broad base of Mac users. Unfortunately, the currently shipping OS X Leopard release, 10.5.2, contains some changes that actually caused problems with Pro Tools (and some other apps as well). In our case, the problems included audio interfaces not being recognized by the computer, track counts dropping to near zero, and errors coming up during normal operation. Some of you who may have experimented with Pro Tools and OS X Leopard 10.5.2 may have encountered some of these problems.
We have worked closely with Apple's engineering group, who have been working very hard in cooperation with us to get the problems ironed out. The good news is that we're getting close to the home stretch, but we have to do a lot of testing of the fixes that have been implemented in order to be sure that we're in good shape. We need to make sure that our product works well and you're not just getting something that's marginal, and it takes time to exercise all of the newly changed code.
What Works on Leopard? Anything At All?
Currently, only Pro Tools|HD systems running Pro Tools 7.4.1 software are officially qualified with OS X Leopard 10.5.1 running on the new generation Mac Pro 8 core desktop machines (with "Harpertown" processors). This means no support yet for Pro Tools LE and M-Powered, and it means that users of the new Mac Pros need to stick with OS X 10.5.1 for the time being.
    Why this Message?
We have posted this information along the way (just a couple of weeks ago our head of customer service posted information to the DUC), but the amount of time that is passing combined with our concern within the company prompted me to want to reach out to all of you. We work cooperatively with Apple, and want to respect the process that we have in place for fixing problems; but I wanted to give you a bit more information about what's been happening and why we're not there yet...
    When Will It Ship?
We hope to have the new release within between 1 and 2 months from now; some of that timetable is contingent on Apple. We'll keep you posted as we get closer. Normally, we don't want to give specific dates because that can cause problems in expectation and it's better not to have negative surprises, but I'd like to share this info with you in the spirit of keeping closer to you as our customers.
I hope that my note gives you a better idea of what's been going on — thanks for listening.
    - Dave L.

  • No pro-rating with cancellation

I have been a long time verizon customer about 10 years sticking to their wireless voice plan, and about last 5 years also month to month. just before year 2014 starts, I finally disconnected services, and made a call to make sure they are aware of it and give me the credit that I did not use. Because I got a partial credit back from Comcast when I switched from Comcast cable to Verizon Fios last summer, I thought this is logical and big company will do so when a customer even won't ask it. But surprisingly, I heard that I need to pay whole month bill and they will not credit back partially. I said why not I just only used 9 days only besides it was not even 100 minute talk out of 500 minute talk given. I had to talk the person's superviser (who knows she is really superviser or just changed a responding person?) then I asked I asked to talk her superviser, and she said leave my phone number and then they will give the call back within 24 to 48 hours. of course they never called me back. now I am thinking "will it be worth to keep asking for the credit just because that is the right business principal?" or just give the money they insist they can charge me the whole month just because they say so now on their own papers then disconnect Verizon Fios as well going back to Comcast? anybody has a better idea?
    Edited to start new discussion.

If you were on a month to month you need only port out to another provider a few days before your bill closing date and you would not need the hassle of even thinking about a pro rata
Verizon does not prorate so you are stuck when you closed out a line of service mid month.
    Good Luck

  • Pro-Rated Tethering Charges

I don't need tethering often enough to justify the extra cost of DataPro with Tethering vs the standard DataPro plan on AT&T. However, it is sometimes nice to have when traveling. Is it possible for me to switch to the tethering plan only for the days that I am going to actually use it? Will AT&T pro-rate the bill? Could I do this multiple times per billing cycle?

Tethering is all or nothing. ATT does not sell it a day at a time. If you're going to be traveling, add it to your plan for that month and then disable it when you get home.

  • Changing Plan Mid-month "pro-rated" unclear and deceptive practice. C.S. offers no help

I recently found myself having to up my plan minutes for a family emergency. I went online and checked my usage I was at 394 minutes out of a 450 minute plan, so I elected to switch to the 900 plan minute for the month, ancipating I would go over in the next week. I was given options to back date it  or start on that day, as I had clearly not gone over my alloted minutes, I chose to start it as of that day.
My Bill came and I received 69 dollars in minute overages. How was this explained, that by prorating the bill, they divide the cylcel in half, not only by "dollars" which seemed to be the explantion I received online, but by minutes. SO my minute alotment of 450 was reduced to 240 for those two weeks I oriignally had 450 minutes in. They billed as if that was my allowance therefore saying I now went over my plan by 154 minute which I was billed to the tune of 69.00 dollars, plus the addition of the monthly increase in plan.
My question to any logical rational intelligent person would be, why would someone choose to up there minute plan, before they went over, just to then be charged for minutes they would not have been had they not upped there plan to the next level. This defies common sense and any explanation would as well.
Customer service sadly would not even hear or understand this, only to say this is a valid "cost" and I should have read the "disclosure" statement or called if I had questions and not use online services. I asked both the operator and a supervisor for the terms of the disclosure agrement and neither could tell me what it said. However in reading  billing question answers they respond "For example, if you changed rate plans during the middle of your billing cycle, your statement should contain a charge for the old rate plan (according to the number of days in your cycle that you were on the old rate plan) and the new rate plan. " yes that makes sense but no where does it say your minutes may be reduced up until this point and you may occur additional charges not already used. by ironically "increasing your minute plan".
I am waiting for a manager to return my call,  As a long time customer of verizon whom have promoted them and the new iphone all over facebook and such to my friends I am very discouraged by this practice, and the lack of resolve.

Mike I appreciate that at least you are familiar with what the disclosure statement says, despite othert reps not being able to recite it. However the term "may" be in inself is Misleading, if "airtime" is  prorated the statement should read "YOUR airtime MINUTES will be prorated and reduced to this point, possibly resulting in overages and additional charges" The wording is intentionally misleading. If it weren't MIke, why would anyone KNowingly select an option that would then cause them to  owe an additional 69.00 dollars they didnt owe at the time, when UPPING their PLAN?
The fact that Customer Service Can't see that as a very real possiblity and just is dissmisive saying You should have read the disclosure statement., and it is a valid charge tells, me they run into this frequently and they have a script to read from to cover themselves, leaving the HUman Element out of the equation. It is sad enough I had to Up my plan only temporarily while dealing with a tragic family situation, to add insult to injury. To me the term "may" be prorated and "may" result in additional overages meant, that if I had gone over my minutes prior to the change I would be charged, because MIKE that is COMMON SENSE. and a REASONABLE person May think that. Cutomer Service Reps could at least acknowledge that as a very real Understanding of how that line could be interupted, and that a reasonable person would not otherwise increase their plan only to be charge for something they would not have otherwise been charged.
I am almost positive in the Future this wording will be Changed after the continued Myriad of complaints. From what I already understand the new "changing minutes and not plan" option already has changed it. SO why not make things right for long time loyal customers now. I actually want to reduce my plan back down now as it was a temporary emergency however I DONT dare do it mid month again, SO I will wait another 2 weeks and pay even more.
This is NOT ME and my misunderstanding, just googling the topic comes up with tons and tons of complaints, articles written on the topic and so fourth. I have been waiting days for someone as promised to call me back as well and that hasnt happened. I have talked to so many friends about this many verizon customers and all say this can't be right, because it DOESNT MAKE SENSE, despite it being "valid" as you say.
