Letting gcc link against newer libraries, good or bad?

Hi,
I basically solved this issue I had, and I did some research, but I would love to hear some general thoughts on this, as I'm rather inexperienced with this topic.
I'm writing small programs in C++ with the freeling linguistic library. When I compile, libfreeling.so wants gcc to link against several old libraries of the form libboost_***_.so.1.57.0, but of which I have the versions 1.58.0.
Now, isn't one of the points of having dynamic libraries to not have this issue, especially since there are some without the version number present, which I think might point to the newest versions present?
So why isn't libfreeling.so just asking gcc to link to the newest versions?
I solved this for the moment by creating symlinks named **1.57.0 to the newer versions, but I feel this is a bad solution.
What is the best approach when one has libraries asking for older versions of other libraries?
I looked at the libfreeling headers, also at the libboost headers, and the version numbers there are correct. Is this a bug in one of the libraries, or a typical issue?

Safari wont let me open links in new tabs anymore? Please help!?

On my Macbook, I'm using Safari as my browser.
Everything was fine until this morning; suddenly Safari will not give me the option of opening links from one page in another tab in the same window.
For example, if I'm browsing on EBay and want to open a search result in a new tab of the same window, usually when I would right click on my track pad or magic mouse, it would say "Open link in new tab" or "Open link in new window". However, now when I right click, it just says, "Open link" "Open link in new window" and "Copy link".
I haven't changed any settings or anything on my Macbook whatsoever in the last 3 hours (at least that I'm aware of). Can anyone please tell me how to get this back to normal?
Also, it seems that when I right click anywhere on a page, I only see the options "back" and "reload" whereas before there was "view source" etc.
Please help!

From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

Since you are running Snow Leopard, *make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64*. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) *make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*
  Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
If Safari still won't let you open links in new tabs, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Very important to keep your system software up to date.
If you install the 10.6.3 update make sure and repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

I would say that you are not connected to the iTunes library you last synced with. You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you connect the iPod to another computer/another iTunes library then you get what you see.
You can only manually manage music and videos among different libraries, not apps.

Right click "Open Link in New Tab" not working?

When at any website I try to right click on a link and then choose "open link in new tab" and nothing happens. "open link in new window" also does nothing. When first open up Firefox and right click on a link a really long list of options appears as well which did not appear yesterday. I think Firefox updated and restarted my computer last night as well. I tried Firefox safe mode and it still happened.

Open Link In New Tab option has gone

When I right click, I expect for the options to include "open link in new tab". Yet instead, the only one that appears is "Open Link in new window". I've tried everything I can think of and there isn't an answer to how to get it back anywhere on the site.
This is very important, please let me know right away.

Ctrl + left click doesn't open links in new tabs although I don't have Tabmix addon

In a previous thread, this question has been answered as related to Tab Mix Plus and resolved as "Disabled extension Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.6, now ctrl + left click opens links in new tabs"
However, I don't have Tab Mix installed at all. I have Tab Utilities 1.1.5. Probably that one interfers with the behaviour.
Is there a way to resolve this without giving up Tab Utilities or is there any other good tab utility addon that doesn't prevent Ctrl + left click?
This behaviour appeared after updating Firefox. Thus, I don't agree to consider it just a problem of addons but rather Firefox itself! I don't want to give up Tab Utilities until standard Firefox settings cover all (or at least most) of the functions it offers.

Query Print Layout-Linking a new header field with ref to repetitive area

Hi,
In a query print layout, the query result based on pending items from a specific vendor is to be displayed.
On trying to insert a new database field (eg. Vendor Name), in the header area based on the pending item details in the repetitive area, the print output shows up a random vendor name (not related with the query result).
The RELATE TO property-option of the header field does not list the repetitive area fields, and the LINK TO option does not help either.
Please advise any other way to link the new db field to display the correct vendor name (contact person, address) as used in the query.

Yes, the fields are part of the query.
Eg. The pending items from a specific vendor(with vendor code, name) is listed in the repetitive area of the layout. But the requirement is to have the Vendor Name and Address details in the Header portion(i.e. Letter to Vendor). Please help me on this.

Hey gang-
Just upgraded to Leopard 10.5.7 from 10.5.6. The latest version of Safari 3.2.3 is included. I notice that if I right-click any link and choose ""Open Link in New Tab", Safari crashes. Anyone else running into this with the new Safari?

Ahhh I found the issue. Had to update to the latest PithHelmet. Normally PithHelmet is good about popping up an alert if updates are needed for new versions of Safari, but not this time. Anyhow, installed new version and all is well!

Vimperator does not open links in new tab [SOLVED]

I am using Vimperator. so far so good, and i like it. i have one problem here. when i mark some links with the command ";ab,act", for example, it does not open the links in new tabs. I also use the command f and F to mark the links in a website but cannot open the link in a new tab.

Maybe it is a conflict between Vimperator and a TabMix-like extension?
I am not sure but go check your tab related perfs and add-on options may help.

Quiting iTunes first if it's running
Connecting your external harddrive to your Mac, use the Finder to browse to it
Find your iTunes folder on the ext HDD and double-click on iTunes Library.itl

No budget in the current year but the system is letting receipts go against

We have a re-accuring issue where there is no budget in the current year but the system is letting receipts go against the budget. We need to know how this happens and a resolution as to how we can get it to stop. We can't have purchases against projects that do not have a current year budget.
PO created and delivery date has been in the month of Dec07 and goods received / Invoicing in Feb08 we dont have budget for 2008 but when we check in 2007 we have current budget.

Budget availability will come alive when you create a PO. If Budget is available in year 2007, it will allow you to raise a PO. When you do GR, No cost postings happen. If you use Valuated Project stock, Qnty and value will sit in Project stock. To my knowledge, Budget availability will not check , cost in stock.
Try and do the GI to project. See if it is throwing an error. Becoz when you do GI, actual costs gets posted. ( if you r using valuated project stock).
