License server refimpl install

Hello everybody!
We got trial Flash access license server. We decided to enroll reference implementations first to test FA potentialities. For this purposes we have debian linux 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 x86_64 with FA_2 distrib copied to it.
jdk1.6_20, MySQL 5.1, JDBC Driver, Tomcat 6.0.18 are installed as required in protectContent.pdf document.
Here is the sequence of steps made to deploy FA to this machine:
1.       In “/etc/profile” I’ve added JAVA_HOME=”/usr/” and CLASSPATH=”/root/Tomcat/6.0.18/libs:/root/javalibs/” variables
2.       I’ve copied java libs (.jar-s) needed for flashaccess.war build to /root/javalibs/ from FA distrib.
3.       Сonfigured build-refimpl.xml with corresponding directories in it.
4.       Run “ant –f build-refimpl.xml all” and it wrote it was successful.
Here is question number 1:
How can I check the application’s build was successful (except the ant’s build message “build successfull”)?
5.       I’ve copied edcws.war flashaccess-packager.war flashaccess.war from wars directory to /root/Tomcat/6.0.18/webapps.
6.       Top command showed me some java process activity after that (I think that was deployment process activity).
7.       Then I went to /root/Tomcat/6.0.18/webapps/flashaccess and saw this directory structure:
Here is question number 2:
What files should appear in application’s directory after deploying it’s flashaccess.war to the Tomcat container?
8.       I opened browser and put http://your server:server port/flashaccess/license/v1.
in the address link. Tomcat shows 404 error page (so the license server is not running correctly).
9.       In  protectContent.pdf document it is said that if the license server reference implementation installation is correct then $CATALINA_HOME/AdobeFlashAccess.log file should be created. So I went to $CATALINA_HOME and opened it. Here is its output (the record bellow is repeated several times and there is nothing more in that file):
2010-10-07 18:50:16,655 INFO  [com.adobe.flashaccess.refimpl.packager.RefImplPackagerServer] Packager thread started. Thread: Thread[WatchedFolderPackagerThread,1,main]
What records should I see if the server is working properly?
What did I miss in the configuration process to make the License server run properly?
And also there are two questions bellow:
1.       How can I check trial keys expiration date?
2.       Will default encryption policies (reference implementation) work correctly with trial keys?

[Eric] Before I start with your questions, I believe there may be some confusion between the 2 servers we offer with Flash Access.  Below is a synopsis.
>> License Server for Protected Streaming is a bare-bones license server that does not support authentication out the box.  This is what the Flash Access Quickstart Guide uses to set you up.  The reasoning for this is that setting up this server requires minimal installation & is rather quick.  However, as this server is bare-bones, it will only issue 1 type of license per tenant folder you have.  Any policy you use to package content will be ignored, and instead, the tenant config will determine what licenses users receive.
>> Reference Implementation License Server is a full-fledged license server that requires a database (MySQL installer is included) which supports authentication out-the-box, and also issues licenses according to what is specified in the policy packaged with your content.
I take it that if you are not using the hardware module to store keys, then there is no need to have the pkcs11.cfg file in the licenseserver folder?
I get an error in the log file for when this file is not specified.
[Eric] Correct - if you are not using an HSM, you can safely ignore the pkcs7.cfg error in the logfiles.
1. I am not getting the logging that you are, so to see what I have done wrong is difficult. Which is the log4j.xml that the flashaccessserver uses and where is it located?
[Eric] It seems like you are using the License Server for Protected Streaming (which is what the Quickstart guide shows you how to install).  The log4j.xml file is included in the flashaccessserver.war file itself.  By default, the logs are stored at {LicenseServer.ConfigRoot}, which is defaulted to "tomcat/licenseserver/".
2. Following the steps that uwe mentioned, my player drm log reports that the user authentication is failing (with testuser3). What player are you using to test this? Are you running http://localhost:8080/player/SampleVideoPlayer_FP.html# ?
[Eric] The Protected Streaming License Server (which is what the Flash Access Quickstart guide references) does not support Authentication out-the-box.  You will have to install the Reference Implementation (see the Protecting Content document section #9), or refer to this thread to determine how you can create an authorizer for the Protected Streaming License Server: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/726547?tstart=0
My call to http://localhost:8080/flashaccessserver/sampletenant/flashaccess/licen se/v1 responds 'License Server is setup correctly'
I've put the content such that calling http://localhost:8080/Indesign.f4v will download it.
When I use the sample video player, the auth fails with the message:
Authentication error event .... event type authenticationError Error code = 3305 [ServerConnectionFailed] Sub Error Code = 404
[Eric] If you are using the License Server for Protected Streaming (like you seem to be doing above), you should package your content with the License Server URL of: http://localhost:8080/flashaccessserver/sampletenant/
[Eric] If you are using the Reference Implementation License Server, you should package your content with the following License Server URL: http://localhost:8080/
So it seems like I am getting a 404, but for what resource I wonder?
[updated]
From access log:
127.0.0.1 - - [18/Oct/2010:13:27:52 +0100] "GET /flashaccessserver/sampletenant/flashaccess/license/v1 HTTP/1.1" 200 33
127.0.0.1 - - [18/Oct/2010:13:28:22 +0100] "POST /flashaccessserver/flashaccess/authn/v1 HTTP/1.1" 404 -

/Eric.

  • License Server: IP Address for Virtual Server

    Hi everyone,
Our license server is installed at 192.168.1.5 : 30000.  Our internal network is able to access the server.  Some SAP Business One client are located remotely so they must connect to server through VPN in which the VPN service provided us 10.8.17.5 as server address.  If I want to run the SAP B1 from remote, it is asking me the license server selection.  I entered 192.168.1.5 - connection with license server failed.  I also tried the 10.8.17.5, same thing, the error message is - connection with license server failed.  What could be a possible work around for us in the remote site to be able to access the SAP B1 and pass through the License Server Selection window?

I want to check license used to install SQL Server is MSDN license or Volume license for SQL Servers which are at least SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2008 R2.  Is there any script/command/tool that I can run on Windows or SQL Server to find such

  • Install SAP client got error license server is unavailable

    Dear All,
Our client is on SAP88 PL21, SQL2008, Win Server 2008
    The workstation is windows7.
After the user reboot her computer (No error about anything. Not because of Windows Update she aware
of. She just felt the computer is slow. So she reboot the computer), SAP cannot connect. After she
click choose company, SAP said no responding.
I create ODBC connection from the workstation to the server. It works fine.
Then I de-active UAC. Turn off firewall. Same issue.
    Next I remove SAP client.
    Then install.
One of the screen is asking license server. I entered SAP server name. Got error (license server is unavailable). Then I entered IP address of the server. Got error. Attached is the error message. License server is unavailable.
Check your license server name and port.
This is the only workstation has issue. She can login from other computer by using her SAP user no
problem. I checked SAP note 1142479 Connection with license server failed /TAO NT Naming Service.
But it doesn't look like our case. I also research on SAP portal. I cannot find any helpful document
since her case is, after reboot cannot connect to SAP license server. And she said, nothing changed
    on her computer.
I got an answer from SAP. They asked me open port 30000, 30001, 1433 on both server and workstation. I know we need to open 30000, 30001, 1433 on the server. But I am not too sure why we need to open 30000, 30001, 1433 on workstation? We already deactive firewall on workstation. We've never did this for any workstation. Thanks.

    Hi,
If they dont want to reinstall the whole OS you may try using Terminal License or
Remote Desktop Connection to run the program since your SAP client installation is a failure.
Or you may try to use VMWare to connect but consumes RAM and resources in your computer.
Thats the remaining options you have if you dont want to reinstall your OS.

  • Associating policy files with license server

    [ Problem ]
I’m going through the sample and documentation for FA 2.0.  It mentions that whenever a policy is created/updated that the license server has to be informed.  In the reference implementation, there are the model usage policy samples that I see being loaded.  In the non-refimpl of flash access, how does the license server load/know about the policies available?  I looked at the sample flashaccess-tenant.xml, I didn’t see any section where policy files are configured.  Would it have to be done outside of the app?
    [ Solution ]
If you update a policy after it was used to package content, and you want the new policy to be used when the user requests a license for that content, the license server needs access to the latest version of the policy.
In the Reference Implementation, there are two modes demonstrating possible business logic implementations (but of course, you may choose a different approach in your implementation).  The typical workflow for the Reference Implementation is that it will use the policy that was embedded at packaging time to generate the license.  If more than one policy was embedded, it will try each one in order until it is able to successfully generate a license (for example, if the first policy requires authentication and the user did not authenticate, the server will try the second policy in the list.  If the second policy allows anonymous access (possibly with more restrictions), it will generate a license using that policy.  The Reference Implementation supports updating policies through a Policy Update List.  The Policy Update List would be generated when a policy is updated, and contains the latest version of any policy that has changed.  If you point the server to a Policy Update List in flashacccess-refimpl.properties, the Reference Implementation server will automatically check this list for updates any time it issues a license.  Alternatively, if you had an implementation that stores all your policies in a database, you could implement your server to check the database for an updated policy before issuing a license.
As you mentioned, there is another mode which demonstrates four different usage models and uses policy files stored on the server to determine what the license will look like.  In this "demo" mode, the server only looks at the policies used at packaging time to determine if anonymous access is allowed or if authentication is required.  The rest of the attributes used to generate the license come from one of the four policy files configured on the server (see the "Implementing the usage models" section of Protecting Content for more details).
The License Server for Protected Streaming addresses a slightly different use case (see Flash Access Server Deployment Guide for details).  Here, we expect the minimum policy information to be specified at packaging time, and the license server determines the actual usage rules for generating the license.  In the PolicyOverrides section of flashaccess-tenant.xml, you specify the usage rules (license caching, output protection, etc.).  The license server ignores the policy embedded during packaging and only uses the attributes in the tenant configuration file.  If you want to update the usage rules, you simple modify the tenant configuration file -- in this case there is no separate policy file.

  • Server 2012 R2 RDS- Only want the Session Host, Connection Broker and Licensing Server!

    Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has experience with implementing Remote Desktop Services (RDS) on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I am doing an RDS design for a platform where we only need an RDS Session Host, Licensing Server and Connection Broker. We do not need web access as these servers will simply be jump boxes internally!
However, implementing this correctly in our test environment has proved to be tricky. The options are:
Use the Server Manager and do a traditional install via Roles and Features ( specifically add the Session Host, Licensing Server and Connection Broker). The installation process seems to go through ok in this scenario but when I head over to the Remote
Desktop Services section of the Server Manager I simply get the message 'An RDS Deployment does not exist in the server pool. To create a deployment head to Roles and Features'.
Use the specific ‘Remote Desktop Services installation’ option on the Server Manager and do a Session Based Desktop deployment and Quick Start. This installation process seems to go through correctly and the Remote Desktop Section seems to be working
correctly via the Server Manager. However this process is ‘hard locked’ i.e. it installs the session host, web access and connection broker. I can then remove the web access component later from Roles/ Features.
Is there a best practice (if any) for installation? i.e. Will there be any issues down the line if I remove RDS Web Access from my server while following method 2?
There is a complete lack of documentation from Microsoft here so not sure what to do! Just need a basic RDS session based deployment.

    Hi,
As I know from server 2012\R2 the best deployment skill is to perform via “Remote Desktop Services” installation mode with Standard deployment and don’t let single role to install. Because when we install through RDS mode, there are specific extra tools and
services activated along with that deployment which you can’t find with single role installation. And that is for sure, when we install RDS role as of this, by default we will get install RDCB, RDSH and RDWA role installed.
Sorry don’t have any option to try to remove that role as that role basically needed for RemoteApp and Desktop purpose. But if you want then you can try it with help of “Remove-RDServer”Powershell command.

  • License server in data transfer workbench

    Dear All Experts/Gurus,
I have a problem about log on to data transfer workbench (DTW). I don't understand why I must put numbers in license server field before log on to Data transfer workbench ? In the license server field of license administration form, I've seen the license server is words for example jimmymc, then beside it 40000.
I log on DTW, I fill jimmymc in the license server field but I've got error message:
"connection to jimmymc has failed. Error code 100000001. Connection with license server failed"
I don't understand why it succeeds if I fill numbers for example 130.1.2.5:40000, it works successful. What actually the function of license server field ? why could it be different with license server in the license administration form ?
    I apreciate your answer. TIA
    Rgds,

    Jimmy,
The net-net is that ... the way you log into the DTW as of the 2005A version is different becasue the overall licensing mechanism used by SAP Business One for 2005 changed from what was used in version 2004.  The licensing mechanism now uses CORBA.  This allows connection without having to have an IP Address, but you can still use one as you have seen.  When you install the License Server for Business One, the default connection "port" used and is defaulted to in the License Server is 30000 ... although you can change this to any port not being used.  Again ... the net-net is that is how it works and that is what is now required for connection or use the IP.

  • Is it possible to administer the license server from a remote computer?

NI VLM and the license server service are running on a license server machine. Company policy prevents me from having admin access to the machine (which seems necessary in order to run NI VLM). Is it possible to administer the license server service from a remote machine? i.e., can I install NI VLM on a machine that is not the license server, but connect to and manage the license server service over the network? I can access the license server via RDP, but without admin access, I can't get very far.
Is there any other way to manage the VLM without admin access to the machine it is running on?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,
I haven't heard of a case where someone was able to administer licenses via VLM without having administrator access. Is there any possibility of getting administrator access on the license server machine, even if it's through some sort of temporary account?

  • Windows Server 2012 RDS CALS on Windows Server 2008 R2 Licensing Server

    Hi,
at the moment we are installing the first couple of Windows Server 2012 in our infrastructure.
Some of them have installed RDS.
Now we are wondering whether it is possible to use our existing Windows Server 2008 R2 licensing server for serving the licenses we have (yes we to have new Windows Server 2012 RDS CALS) or whether we have to install a new host based on Windows Server 2012.
We tried to add the new license to the 2008 R2 licensing server, but it is not possible. The licensing manager's error message: "The license code contains invalid characters or not enough characters."
    Is there any other way?
    Thanks and regards
    Matthias

    Hi matt_will_fix_it,
    How about Windows 2012 R2 ?
Will a Windows 2012 RD Licensing server provide licences to a Windows 2012 R2 server?
I have not tested it, but it should work.  Server 2012 R2 requires the same RDS CAL version as Server 2012.  If you try it and have an issue please reply back.

  • Getting "certificate server is installed" error when attempting demote of server 2012

Currently, we are testing server 2012 in our environment and using a 180 day trial version. Wanting to remove the complex password account restriction, I noticed that all removal options are grayed out, as the trial server is listed as a domain controller
(although no accounts have been setup and no one is logging onto it).
Using the "remove roles and features" option, I attempted to uninstall the active directory certificate services (after unchecking the box), but received a warning that the server must be demoted. Ok.
So, now I follow through the process, check the "last domain controller" checkbox (I had previously checked the "force demotion" but that failed) and click the "demote" button.
    Fine.
One would expect that the server would be demoted, it would reboot and all would be just as requested.
    No such luck.
Received a "certificate server is installed" error and the demotion will not proceed. Tried it several more times with the same results. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Dan David

First if you plan on using this in a production environment ever you can't convert a evaluation license to a full license if the Domain controller role is installed.
domain controllers have their own default policy, for just the opposite of what you are trying to do, it leaves the domain controllers hardened if someone changes the default domain policy, if you still have a stable server you should be able to go
to the group policy management and adjust the security policy on the "default domain controller" policy.
It sounds like you may have a server that is in a unstable state not a dc but it thinks it is may be? if that is the case starting over may be a fastest way to correct.

  • Grace period after activating licensing server

We currently have a windows 2008 server R2 installed in one of our servers. We are basically using that server for connecting via RDP and its currently in 120 day grace period ( terminal server licensing). This is getting expired in another two days. We
currently have only 40 user cal license with us. It seems we require RDS cals to connect via RDP. Currently the licensing server is currently not activated.
My query is will there be any additional grace period once I activate the licensing server, during which I will procure the RDS cals. Or any other way to extend it.
    Its little urgent kindly helpp.!.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge the user logging on the RDSH (Remote Desktop Session Host servers(s)) that query/get the CALs from the RDS Licensing server) will have issues or stop logging in.

  • Changing ip address of one server to another in license server

    Hi everyone,
I donu2019t know if my question belongs in here; forgive me because Iu2019m a newbie here and in using SAP as well. I was designated to investigate about a recurring issue of one of our client. The scenario goes like this..
Our client has 2 stores/branches (A& B); each store has sap server and license. We normally install remote desktop and sap business one client so that their workstation can connect to the server and do their task efficient with authorization. We always receive calls that they were offline the whole night.  Why is this scenario happening? We found out that the license server ip address of store B (under license administration) was already changed to Store Au2019s ip address. They claiming that they never did anything. They donu2019t do it manually (adding store Au2019s ip add to sap b1 service mgr). Please give me any other advice/ suggestions or to dou2019s for me to be able to track if its our mistake or our clients mistake?
Iu2019m looking forward to your answers soon.
    Thanks,
    Pipay

    Hi Sir Rahul,
I'm glad you replied, I actually did the same thing. The reason why they're saying that the server A ip add becomes sever B ip add is because the ip add were change, and this thing can be possible if there's someone (maybe the user itself or client) manually change the ip address in license server or add it in service manager. BUT when we ask them, they did not change it manually nor add it. they keep on insisting, Itu2019s just automatically change and if I'll conclude that there were the one who made a  mistake, I still have to check first. What are the possible scenarios why these things happened; aside from manually add/encoding.  Is it because of the sap b1 client?
My co-worker told me that she notice this store doing this scenario: from one of server Au2019s workstation (A.1) they will connect to server B which I think can cause server A to offline. Is it possible?? Iu2019m confuse but I need to resolved this issue
    Thanks,
    Pipay

  • How to specify RD USER cal for particular session host server on a licensing server.

    Hello,
I have 25 user cal license which I want to deploy to my 5 session host servers (5 user cal for each host)
I got 1 licensing server, where I have installed these licenses and pointed all other servers to it.
but I dont see any option to reserve 5 for each host. (4 win  2008R2, 1 win 2003 separate to each other no session host)
    Thanks

I would always have two licence servers for resilience.
