Lightroom  installation

Running Windows 7/Service Pack 1.  Can download Lightroom with no problem.  When I go to install, window says extracting files.  I let it run for 2 hours and no progression.

What version of Photoshop Lightroom?  The current version of Photoshop Lightroom, version 4, will not work on Windows XP.  Please see the system requirements listed at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.edu.html for additional details.

Why does a pop up screen ask me to extract the image using Lightroom Installer, when all I want to do is view it ?

My local computer shop solved the problem. Apparently when you download cloud it changes a lot of settings.
    So second issue.
Why do I now get asked to burn to disc rather than saving to my hard drive when I want to export from Lightroom ?

  • After CC packager created installer for Lightroom, Installer does not install

I created an installer for Lightroom (windows) using the CC packager. When I tested it it did not install Lightroom.  I tried the 32bit version and the 64bit version and they both did the samething.  Is there a problem with creating the Lightroom installer?

Far out, I have been suffering from the same issue! I have tried on multiple machines to install Lightroom CCP pacakge! When running the setup.exe for other packages it will actually install the application and display a desktop icon / program files entry. I have wasted hours trying to figure out why Lightroom wasn't installing even tho event logs said successful! How is there no official documentation from Adobe that this is the expected behaviour for Lightroom manual installs?
Sure the documentation says run setup.exe then exceptions installer, my thoughts were why bother with exception installer if the main package has not installed correctly! It should mention the program won't appear until exceptions have been installed?

  • Lightroom installation issues

A few months ago I tried Lightroom 5 with the 30-day free trial. Today I purchased a software download card from an office supply store to buy lightroom. I followed the instructions and entered the code on my purchased card to retrieve the serial number. After I entered the serial number there was the option on the webpage to download lightroom. I clicked that and ran the installer and now when I open up Lightroom it's still taking me to the screen that I saw after my 30 days were up (the "i have a serial number and want to license lightroom" v. "I want to try" screen.) I click next and enter my serial number (again) and it tells me that the serial number is invalid. I don't know how to avoid this. I don't know if it's because I already entered the serial number to download it in the first place but if that's the case, how to I avoid this screen and get into lightroom. I already deleted my trial version and redownloaded lightroom and it still didn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Figured it out!

  • Lightroom - Installation Error - Exit Code 7

I was instructed to upgrade most apps to cc2014 editions.
Most have been successful although for some reason Creative Cloud says I have no apps installed at all now, however, the main problem I am having is that lightroom will not install, I am only using Adobe Creative Cloud as an installer (not third party as it states).
    I get the following error:

I have searched through for some solutions including deleting temp files etc but the problem remains.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance
    Chris.

I have fixed this issue, if it helps anyone in the future I used this:
Microsoft FixIt utility at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en-us to remove the remaining entries for Photoshop Lightroom.
Checked in Programs and Features (from the control panel) that there was nothing Lightroom related left, make sure you check under A for Adobe and L for Lightroom.
Reinstall from Creative Cloud, hopefully this will work for you.

Isokiller to confirm when you try to run the uninstaller you receive an error regarding the missing MSI file?  If this is the case then please attempt to use the Microsoft FixIt tool available at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en-us to remove the entry for Photoshop Lightroom.
Once this is done you should be able to overwrite the existing files by reinstalling as Kglad as has suggested.

  • LIGHTROOM INSTALLATION ERROR : DW006, HOW TO INSTALL?

I check on Forums and the alternative was to restore Permissions (in French, may be in English is Authorisations). It doesn't work. I try to soft start the computer and I always have the same error message.
    I have OS X 10.6.8
Where is the problem? Adobe or my Apple system. What should I do?

Lightroom 5.3 is not compatible with OS 10.6.8
You need to upgrade to OS 10.9 which fortunately is a free upgrade.

  • Moving my Lightroom installation from an external to an internal disk

I was having hard disk capacity issues so have been running Lightroom on an external USB drive - and it's been working fine. But I am installing a new drive internal to my machine in the coming days. How can I move Lightroom from the external drive, along with the Lightroom catalog, to the new drive? Do I need to uninstall and then reinstall? I want to be sure that I don't lose my settings or, of course, the catalog!
By the way, I still have an old Lightroom Library from the first version. So, I have this folder setup:
    Lightroom Library folder
    Lightroom Database.lrdb (old database file)
    Lightroom Catalog folder (folder)
    Lightroom Previews.lrdata (old folder)
Can I simply move the Lightroom Catalog folder to the new disk and delete the old database file and old previews folder? Finally, I routinely archive Lightroom Catalog.lrcat but not as frequently the growing Lightroom Catalog Previews.lrdata - I assume that it would be rebuilt if needed after a crash, no? Thanks!

Thanks. I do want to bring over all my presets and settings. If I install anew, won't I lose all of that? Also, I am not at 1.3.1 - can I install the newest version on the new disk and then safely import all my data and settings? Below is what I think I can do - am I right? Thanks!
    Dilip
[EXTERNAL DRIVE Z:, NEW INTERNAL C:]
Install 1.3.1 on my C: drive (I assume that once I give it my valid key, it will work even though it's not installing over an existing installation)
Run Lightroom from C: [how to copy over my preferences and presets?] - it will not see any catalogs, so let it create a new catalog on C:
Import from Catalog - just point to z:\Lightroom Catalog.lrcat - I assume that a c:\Lightroom Catalog.lrcat will then be built that would be identical to the one on the Z: drive (would it be faster to just copy the .lrcat over and then open that catalog? also, I have several GB of previews -- would previews not take a long time to be rebuilt, or could I copy those over, too?)

  • Lightroom Installer request -- alternative install folder

Since Lightroom has it's own "Documentation" folder in the installation, I put the Lightroom application into a "Applications/Lightroom" folder on my MacOS X system.
The installer puts the Lightroom.app folder in "Applications"
Is there a way the installer can update "Lightroom.app" when it isn't directly in the "Applications" folder?

    Hi Stephen,
Adobe Lightroom goes to exception folder once a package is created. You would need to install Adobe lightroom under exception folder using ExceptionDeployer.exe (WIN).

  • Lightroom installation folder using Application Manager

    Hey,
I have the creative cloud subscription and I have been able to install all the CS6 suit in the folder of my choosing. However I just tried twice to install Lightroom using the Application Manager in different folders but it automatically installs it in C:/Program Files and I don't want that.
I am using Win 7 64bit. Any suggestions?

I'm also having problems installing Lightroom via AAM in my preferred folder. Have tried multiple times. Other applications (PS, PP) install
where I want them. All 800M of LR goes to C:/Program Files. Why? The question was asked 3 months ago but never answered. Anyone
    at Adobe investigated this yet?

  • Creative Cloud keeps forgetting about my Lightroom installation

Every few weeks, the Creative Cloud Software on my computer forgets that there is a Lightroom 5 installation on my computer, making it impossible for me to update. The software works just fine for Photoshop, though.
I installed Lightroom through the software and right after the installation, it showed up ok. Last time, I contacted Adobe directly via chat and they told me to uninstall manually and re-install through the software. That worked and I agree that this is a suitable solution for a one time thing, but I am not going to un-install/re-install Lightroom everytime that there is an update.
Same thing applies to the software itself: every other update just crashes and requires me to re-install the Creative Cloud software.
Any idea to what I could be doing wrong? Any hope that this is fixed soon? The whole subscription thing is pointless to me, otherwise.

    Hi drs,
So what do you mean by: my computer forgets that there is a Lightroom 5 installation on my computer"? There could be 2 issues: your link on the desktop / dock is gone after a while or your Lightroom 5 does not show correct status in the Creative Cloud Desktop application. I assume you talk about option 2? The status of the installation is just maintained in a database file on your system. So see for example KB: CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed
So if anything shows incorrect there might be damage of your OPM.db file or a read / write permission issue to update this or other files.
If you have crashes in general please try to narrow down the root cause by using: Troubleshoot system errors, freezes | Windows | Adobe software or Troubleshoot system errors, freezes | Mac OS 10.x | Adobe software
