Limit on connections?

From a class that requires transactions, I invoke a routine in a class that supports transactions. That second routine, in turn, opens up a database connection, invokes a stored procedure (which, by the way, is completely empty -- it just has a "return" statement), then closes the database connection.
I call this second routine eight times in a row, without any problems. But when I invoke it for the ninth time, I get the following error when trying to open the connection:
"Unable to enlist in a distributed transaction"
Is there a limit on the number of times a database can be accessed within a transaction? Is there a way to raise, or eliminate, this limit?

You're not exceeding the number of network connections for a workstation, which is 10 computers, so I don't believe you've hit any limits. I suspect you're running into inherent problems with Mac OS X's implementation of SMB, which I sometimes find flaky.
See what happens when you take the following code and put it into the Applescript Script Editor found inside the Applications folder:
mount volume "smb://servername/sharename" as user name userName with password password
Add a new line of code for each share you're trying to access. Click the Run button to execute the script. If this works then you can save the script as a double-clickable application.
Hope this helps! bill

  • Limit open connections per each database session in Oracle 11

    Hi for All,
Please, I would like to know what the limit of connections per session in Oracle 11. This issue is relevant to the use of UTL_TCP for connections with ATMs. Also, someone would have some other approach or suggestion of communication architecture with Automated Teller Machine?

I suspect Spotlight is showing you the PGA plus the entire mapped portion of shared memory or the total of all shared memory pages visited. On HP-UX these are the kind of numbers you would get from ps, which may be Spotlight's source for the data.
The glance utility of HP-UX is a more useful way to obtain detailed information on process memory usage.

  • Limit wireless connection to one connection only. Is that possible?

    Hi,
Is it possible to limit wireless connection to allow only one computer to connect to wireless?
    Thank you.

Yes. Secure your connection with WPA or WPA2. Provide the passphrase or pass key to that computer only. That should do it.

  • Limit number connections by IP

Hello, I have an ACE 4710 to balance some aplications exposed to Internet. But one of them has problem with concurrence, the question is, Are there a way to limit the number of connections to this application by public IP address?
    Thanks,
    Haiver Bermon

    Hi Haiver,
You can limit the number of concurent connections to a real server. For instance:
    ACE(config)# serverfarm host SF1
    ACE(config-sfarm-host)#   rserver SRV1
    ACE(config-sfarm-host-rs)# ?
    Configure rserver instance:
backup-rserver  Configure backup-rserver for this rserver
conn-limit      Configure max/min connection limits for the server <<<
description     Configure description string for real server
      do              EXEC command
      end             Exit from configure mode
      exit            Exit from this submode
fail-on-all     Fail real when all probes fail
      inservice       Activate rserver instance
no              Negate a command or set its defaults
probe           Associate probe with rserver instance
rate-limit      Configure rate limit per second <<<
Or you can limit the connection rate to a vip by configuring something similar to this:
    ACE(config)# parameter-map type connection pmap
    ACE(config-parammap-conn)# ?
    Configure connection parameters:
description             Configure description string for this parameter-map
      do                      EXEC command
      end                     Exit from configure mode
exceed-mss              Configure behavior if a packet exceeds MSS
      exit                    Exit from this submode
nagle                   Enable Nagle TCP optimization algorithm
no                      Negate a command or set its defaults
random-sequence-number  Enable TCP sequence number randomization <<<
But i guess you rater like to limit the number of connections from a single source ip. This is not possible.
    Thanks,

  • Can I set a time limit for connection to a certain WLAN?

I would like to set a time limit for how long a client can be continously connected to the WLAN that provides my guest internet access. The user name/password is hosted on my ACS and authentication is provided by my Cisco NAC. I am using 5508 controllers (7.02) and WCS.
Somewhere in this combination of stuff, there has to be a way to set a two hour time limit.

If you are looking for your guest to get kicked off which requires them to log back in .. One option would be to set the WLAN session timeout to 2 hours.

  • Limit User Connections

    I'm on 9i R2 on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
Is it possible to limit the amount of users that can connect to a Database? Like say 5 Users only.

The parameter PROCESSES in the initialization parameters allows you to restrict the number of total processes. With no one logged into the database except you, look at the count from v$process, set the PROCESSES parameter to that value plus 5. However, you must also allow for the setting of the jobs processes and any parallel query settings. There is also the LICENSE_MAX_USERS parameter but it is usually set to the maximum number of processes you want to allow. Look at the v$resource_limit view to get an idea of what is happening in your system as users login/logoff to get an idea of how to set these parameters. I sugest restricting access, then logging in 5 times concurrently to see the number of processes required.

  • Limit Database Connections From 10gAS Mid Tier

We are using 10gAS 10.1.3 and RDBMS v10.2.0.3. For one of our applications the application server midtier spawns hundreds of connections to the database and eventually grinds it to a halt.
While we are trying to get to the bottom of why this is happening, is there anyway to limit the number of connections the mid tier will spawn to the database?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Are you using Connection Pools?
If so, look for these settings in Application Server Control (or your data-sources.xml file):
    Initial size of Connection Cache
    Minimum Number of Connections
    Maximum Number of Connections
You should be able to find them under:
    Cluster Topology -> <oc4j instance> -> Administration -> JDBC Resources
    This might help.

  • Limit ldap connections

    Hi,
I have a Directory server 5.2 SP4 installed on a solaris machine which is used by more than 1000 Linus/Solaris clients for user authentication. Some clients do a multiple LDAP connections which is more than 900 connections per min, which is hitting the performance of the Directory. Is it possible to limit the # of connections which a client can create. Say any client should can only create 50 connections per minute.
    Thanks

Thus how do you think that you would accomplish this using either the router and/or the server in the first place?

  • Limit concurrent Connections

    Hello,
I'm not sure that this Forum is the correct one...
We have a big WLAN infrastructure authenticated by NPS / Radius (on Windows 2008 R2).
We want to allow our Users to use private devices in a special WLAN. Here we use EAP PEAP with Username and Password.
We want to limit the devices. Only one privet device per User-Account.
Is this possible with Radius and / or Accounting?
    Thanks for any Help

  • Can I limit iTunes Connect or Member Center users to a single app?

I'm in the planning stages of the development of two iOS apps that we're hoping to release through a single account. It's possible that two different development companies will be involved in the build. Is it possible to manage users on an app-by-app basis so that developers from company A can only access App A and developers from company B only access App B? This seems like something that would be useful but I couldn't work it out from the documentation.
    Thanks

Thanks for the info MIchael. The apps would be distributed through the app stores normally available on iPad/iPhone rather than the standalone iTunes app if that makes any difference. But that sounds like semantics to me sadly!

  • Connection pool size limit error

    Hi all,
    I am trying to execute a BAPI function from MII, execution fails with the following message;

    Config:
    1. In 'SAP MII: Connections' of type JCO and have given pool size to 100.
    2. In 'SAP MII: Credential Stores' store is created and same is being used in Start Session.
    3. In  JCO_Function block, we can search for the Function Module and set it.
    MII Version:

    Am I missing something?
Has any one seen this? please advise.

Check if there is another JCo connection configured with the same IP and User. I have found in the past that even though there are two connections configured because they have the same ip and user they are put into one pool with the lowest max pool of the two connections.

  • Server 2008 R2 RDP: limit max number of rdp connections per user group?

    Hello everyone,
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with RDP installed.
I want to create a couple of user groups which will have 5 different users in each. Then I would like to limit RDP connections, let's say 2 connections for the first group and 3 connections for the second group. For example, if 2 users from Group 1 are connected
then when a 3rd user from Group 1 tries to connect it will be rejected to connect, but 3 users from Group 2 still can connect. Is it doable?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Connection limit with ACP7

I am using Adobe Connect Pro 7 licensed for 20 concurrent users. I am trying to get about 12 - 14 participants to join my meeting, but for some reason it seems to be limiting me to nine Participants. After that the participants that try to enter hang on the connection screen with an eventual server error. I had about three participants trying to connect that were hanging on the connection screen, and when I removed three other participants from the meeting, the ones that were hanging connected.
It is my understanding that 20 is a soft limit, and I see nothing in the server or meeting settings that would limit the number of participants. It also does not give any message about exceeding any limit.
I was wondering if there might be some kind of setting on the server itself ( as in the physical Server 2003 OS software) that might limit the connections, or possibly network settings?? I am currently at a loss to figure out what the problem is. Does anyone have any suggestions??
    Update:
Discovered warnings in the application event viewer:
    1) Source = FMS [Core] Connection Rejected by Server. Reason:[License Limit Exceeded]: [_defaultRoot_,_defaultVHost_]:Max connections allowed exceeds license limit. Rejecting connection to:meetingapp@localhost:8506/7/20602/.
    2) Source = FMS [Master] Connection Penalty activated at time 1244644052.424488 with connections 11 and limit 10.

In my case, I discovered that I had two license files in C:\breeze\comserv\win32\licenses. I am not certain what happened, but the license.lic file which the program was using had no reference to FMS in it. I had a second file named license.lic.old which has a reference to FMS in it. I renamed the old file to replace the license.lic file and restarted the Flash Media Server (FMS) service, and I was able to join 20 participants again. It's been a while, so I don't recall what the files look like, but it was definitely the license file that was the root of the problem. Hopefully it will at least give you a place to start - no one ever responded to my post, so I just kept digging. Good Luck!
