Limit on number of XML files used ?

Hi,
Am user of 4.5 workgroup since 2 years and am recently also testing our models on engage2008. We make datadashboards with sometimes large datasets (25 column, 10000rows in excel), sometimes using XML sometimes all contained.
Is there a limit on the number of XML files -mapped in excel - that can be handled by xcelsius ? There also seems to be a difference in loading time ; when the XML files are mapped to 1 single sheet in excel, the loading/importing into xcelsius seems to go a lot faster.
Any advice on this ?

It is not always the 10000 rows, and we have several dashboards with XML files (max 1335 rows) that work fine. The question still is if there is a limit on the actual number of XML files attached, or is it a limit on the total linked datavolume ?
There also seems to be a difference when the XML files are mapped on the same excel sheet (faster import).

Dynamic number of xml files with a specified max size

Hi all,
I'm using a custom report to generate xml files (via a ST program and a call transformation) containing
data belonging to is-u invoices (some are much more complex and rich of data than other ones).
I'm asked to generate the minimun number of xml files, the only limit is their maximum size (40 MB).
How can I dynamically understand when I need to save an xml file and generate the next one if the
size is only readable after the transformation,as far as I know?

My problem is that different users may be loading different files.
As there may be many simultaneous users and the xml document nodes do not get edited in any way, I only want to have one copy of each file in memory .... hence the application scope.
If I make the var name fixed then a user loading xml2.xml would overwrite any previous file xml1.xml or whatever.
I could switch to session scope but that would load possibly hundreds of copies of any given file at any given time and the files are not small :-(

"encoding = UTF-8" missing while writing XML file using file Adapter

We are facing an unique problem writing xml file using file adapter. The file is coming without the encoding part in the header of xml. An excerpt of the file that is getting generated:

So if you see the header the "encoding=UTF-8" is missing after "version-1.0".
Do we need to configure any properties in File Adapter?? Or is it the standard way of rendering by the adapter.

i have an oracle 8i database.
in a few weeks i will be receiving a number of xml files on a daily basis.
i want to import these files into my oracle database using pl/sql. However, although i know i can do this, i have been unable to find any sample code for this type of operation.

Cannot close an XML file used for parsing

I appears to have difficulty closing (possibly flushing it first) an XML file that was subsequently being parsed without success. The error generated is:

This issue has risen in th past where I have been able to close the XML file prior to reading them again. However, I don't have a solution for it this time round.
I am running JDK 1.6.0_10, Netbeans 6.1, JDOM 1.1 on Windows XP platform.

What I find it interesting is that it is possible to parse the above XML file with the same parseData() from another class without any problem. As a result, I have come to the following conclusion so far:
( i ) There is some file locking that is prevent saxBuilder from parsing the XML file at the time.
( ii ) The light_html2xml does not appears to have correctly converted over the orginal Html to Xml but some how it has been picked up by the parser in the same class, but not by the same parser from another class.
( iii ) I would like to use another conversion tool such as Tagsoup in place of light_html2xml to determine where the cause of this issue is coming from. As a result, would you or anyone be able to assist me coming up with a few lines of conversion statements using Tagsoup since I am not familiar with using this tool?
( iv ) light_html2xml is good as it strip out all namespace, DTD, Entity Resolver, etc and only return what I need. JTidy does correct conversion but include namespace, DTD, Entity Resolver which makes parsing difficulty.

What my program do is to get the encoding of XML files and convert them to UTF-8 encoding files, while I need this "encoding" information of the original XML document thus I can convert...
After reading specifications and JDOM docs, the truth turns to be disappointed, no function is provided to get this information in JDOM level 2(the current released one), while it's promissed that this function will be provided in JDOM level API....

I had a similar error which when I searched, came up with this thread.
My issue was resolved after I discovered that my RTF template was not really RTF. It was sill in MS Word DOC format. This was discovered by reviewing two templates in NOTEPAD. The MS-DOC files have a lot of "special" characters in them. My RTF was not really RTF.
After doing a SAVE AS - RTF format, then the preview worked as expected.

The file gets saved but I get fllowing error message when I open the file.
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

The code I am trying to achieve the functionality is:

You can't! Well, at least Flex cannot do this. All Flex can
do is send this data -- any data -- to the server and it's up to
you how you want to append this data to a file on the server.
You see, flex can't write to local files. If you looking for
client side file manipulation, take a look at Flex's desktop

Creating XML file Using Call Transformation

Hello Friends,
      I have searched before posting thread, couldnt find anything.
      I am creating an XML file using Call Transformation. My internal table has 3 date fields and some other fields. For some records I dont have values for the date fields. In that case my XML file is giving the date value as 0000-00-00 since I declared it as Date type. This value 0000-00-00 is not accepted by the middle ware as the valid date. I can not change it as String type as per the suggestion.
In that case I am advised to skip printing the date field tag if it doesnt have value.
     Is there any way to skip the date field if it is empty. Any Suggestions please ?.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem before. When you call a transformation there is an option called initial_components. According to SAP if you use initial_components = 'SUPRESS' the empty fields should not being generated on the XML.
Now, this didn't work for me and I have seen some people with the same problem. Here is how I solved this (maybe not the best way but it worked):
First: My fields are all CHAR in my table
Second: In the transformation, you can use conditional transformation to not display a tag if field is empty, here a piece of my transformation (I am using simple transformations):

     <tt:cond s-check="not-initial(ref('ROOT.L1_NM')) or not-initial(ref('ROOT.L2_NM'))">
          <TRNMTR_NM>

              </l1_nm>

              </l2_nm>
            </tt:cond>
          </TRNMTR_NM>
        </tt:cond>
As you can see, I first check if the fields have values.

Creating XML File Using xmldom Package

How can I create an XML file from scratch using the PL/SQL xmldom package?
I want to create an XML file using the xmldom package instead of building the individual tags as strings of VARCHAR2 character data. There is quite a bit of documentation regarding manipulating input XML files using DOM -- but not for creating XML files from scratch given known "tagnames" (<lastName>) and retrieved database "values" ("Smith").

Is there any documentation that you can recommend?

Creating XML file using data from database table

I have to create an xml file using the data from multiple table. The problem That i am facing is the data is huge it is in millions so I was wondering that is there any efective way of creating such an xml file.
It would be great if you can suggest some approach to achieve my requirement.
