There must be some restrictions on OID the way it is in AD ( MaxPage).
Its not a bug on Weblogic Server.

  • Unique item permissions per user/group of ListItems

    Hello,
    i have following scenario:
1.) Sharepoint group named "(Adminstrator) Company A" <-> Has Add/Edit rights on the list
2.) Sharepoint group named "Company A" <-> Has only Add/read access to the list
3.) .....many many other groups (50+) with same schema.
Each pair of groups (Company A) should "only" see their own entries in the sharepoint list.
My Logical approach and research on how to accomplish this ended up in writing a ItemEventHandler.
The problem i ran into now is that whenever i try to use "currentListItem.BreakRoleInheritance(false);" i get a access denied
message whenever the limited user group is trying to add a item to the list even when i use the SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate().
So i wonder what is wrong. Isn't RunWithElevatedPrivileges ignoring the currentUsers rights ?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thank you all for the replies.
Meanwhile i was able to figure out myself what the problem was.
Both of your replies actually didn't solve my problem. I kept getting ACCESS_DENIED exceptions.
But the problem is that all of this happened inside of a
    public override void ItemAdded(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    of a SPItemEventReceiver class.
The root of the problem was that i was still trying to modify the initial "properties" object.
After i made a complete copy and re-retrieved the item from the list INSIDE of the elevatedPrivilege method i was finally able to make my desired modifications.
So for everyone who runs into this problem too:
Make sure you re-retrieve EVERYTHING(ListItem,DocumentItem etc) you want to modify with elevated privileges inside of the
    SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
    Thank you again,

  • Toshiba Power Saver doesn't work with limited user account

    Hello,
this same question was posted in 2006 - not by me - with no successful answer. I try again.
If you create a user with restrictions account (member of the local USERS group) in XP, then he cannot manage either the embedded Windows power options, and the Toshiba Power Saving tool.
I managed, working on file and registry permissions, to have the Windows power options working. But I still can't launch the Toshiba Power Saving tool, it always pop-ups the "you don't have rights" box.
Is there really nothing I can do to work around this?
    thanks

I have the exact same problem on my Tecra 9100 (PT910E) just accquired on Ebay with minimum XP Pro SP2 installation.
Akuma I tried to your advice with my Power saver version 5.04.00 (file 20071126153401) without success.
The only way I could find to run Power saver is directly from the icon in the Admin account, or through the console. I could not then find "setup options" only "Details" of the various power schemes. No "Allow Limited User to change settings" box/button anywhere.
    Can you clarify further ?
    thanks

    Hi Chaitanya,
I don't think theres a specific parameter to achieve this, but you can set the value of rdisp/gui_auto_logout to 10 in one of the instances and create a new logon group for this users.

  • Limited access group for some switches only

    Hi ,
We have around 80 x cisco 3750 switches using AAA Windows Radius server and AD as authentication for IT users login.
How do we setup a limited access group which allow them to access some switches ONLY?
Any advice is very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Qle

Well its Prod (you have a dashboard called testdashboard in Prod?) anyway - someone might have changed the presentation catalogue permissions on the dashboard. All it takes is for someone to remove 'Everyone' or change a Group permission and it could effect.
If they changed the Parent folder and cascaded the changes down this might cause this issue.
You have a folder called 'Shared' - check the groups that the people are in have 'Traverse' , 'Read' or higher. Also chek dashboard permissions themselves from Settings-Manage Interactive Dashboards - Check the Padlock icon.
Are you users getting allocated into the correct WEBGROUPS ? Is this assisngment done explicitly in the webcat or via an RPD Variable ? Have you checked NQQueryl.log to make sure any init blocks are completing successfully?
Either persmissions have changed or group memebership is not completing.
    Good luck

  • M70: Permissions, wallpaper and limited user

    Hi,
I have spent some time (i.e. a few days of mucking around) setting up a new M70 (PSM70A-T00E) notebook which has WinXPSP2 preinstalled (on an all-but-useless recovery DVD without the alleged "expert" option, but that's another story).
When Windows was first installed, I configured the (default) administrator and one user account (called "aburdeni"). By default, both accounts had administrator permissions.
After setting things up the way I like them, I am now trying to convert the user account to a limited account.
The usual method of "control panel->user accounts->...->change account type" doesn't work as it claims that there is only one account on the system (even though there's the one with the username "administrator", which it ignores for some reason).
To override this, I logged in as administrator and ran lusrmgr.msc. I then added user "aburdeni" to the User group and removed them from the Administrator group.
    Things broke.
What I have noticed now is that:
    * The default Toshiba theme doesn't stick (no wallpaper, just a plain grey backdrop)
    * Control panel reverted back to the default hierarchical style, and clicking on the give-it-to-me-the-way-I-like-it text on the left-hand side didn't do anything.
    * Other settings (taskbar, start menu style) reverted back to the default.
There are probably countless other things that broke, but I have yet to find them.
Setting the account to Power User instead of User made no difference. Things only started working again when I added the account back into the Administrator group.
Is there any way to have things work while logged in as an unprivileged user?
    Thanks,
    Adam
BTW: I'm from Australia, if that makes a difference (different settings for the default install?)

    Hello Adam
As far as I know there is no difference in which country you live because operating systems are the same for all countries and some different settings depending on country are not known to me.
Please delete all created accounts. Log in as administrator and then create a new account. First step is to give the name for this new account and click on Next. Second step is to define this user (administrator rights or even limited user). Choose limited option and end the wizard.
Use Windows + L key combination and try to log in as limited user. There should not be any problem. The background picture and everything else will be set like for the first time.
You can make a small test and try to start Toshiba power utility. You will see that there is no chance to start it and change anything. It can be used just by administrator.
Please try again. It must works.
    Good luck!!!

  • How to manageimported users, groups, and computers in the "Magic Triangle"

How do I manage imported users, groups, and computers? Server Preferences versus Workgroup Manager? I can import users and groups with the former but it offers limited configurable options. I can view all users. groups. and computers (from active directory) in the latter, but it does not designate which accounts have been imported.
I've got a magic triangle setup, with my users, groups and computers in Windows Active Directory, and my MacOS X snow leopard server setup as a directory master, abd bound to AD as well. I wish to apply group policy like settings to my Mac OS X leopard and snow leopard clients.
Here's a summary of my goals:
    1. Time Machine Storage for mac users when they logon to Mac OS X computers.
    2. Automount group shares located on the Mac OS X Server.
    3. Redirect user desktop and document folders to user shares either on the Mac OS X server or my Windows file server.
    4. Automount a custom folder (for each user) located either on the Mac OS X server or my Windows file server.
    5. Setup Mac OS X server as a printer server with quotas for all mac and windows computer users.
Goal #1 appears to be working. "need help with the rest. Thanks

I'm not sure you want to import users to use the magic triangle properly. I think importing creates 'Augmented Records' - the user icons have blue dots.
    The principle is this…
Bind the server to Active Directory (AD) & create an Open Directory master (OD). This can be done from Server Admin, in the OD section, via the change button.
Then you use Workgroup Manager, set the viewing directory (tiny little globe in top left) to use LDAP records on the server - LDAPv3/127.0.0.1. Authenticate (lock on right of toolbar) add a group, then switch to to its Members tab, click + Then change the user list to show the AD records & add the AD users to the OD group. It sounds weird & wrong, but it is how it works.
You are never modifying the AD records, just assigning a group to the users in OD. It's why the clients need to bind to AD & OD.
From there you can set the Managed prefs (MCX) for the members of the OD group. It also helps to add a guest computer account to OD to assign computer prefs based on the macs that bind to the server - it's in the File menu when you select the computes list in OD.
I hope that's clear, not sure I can help with the other tasks, but they tend to fall into place once you have the complex start in place.

  • ANN: Adobe Spry User Group launched

    Hello,
I'm honored to announce the launch of the first Adobe Spry User Group, Spry-it. In all the years I have worked with Spry both on a personal as well as on a enterprise level I came to realize that there really little blogging, articles, documentation and information written by the community for the community. There are a few youtube video's here and there. But its all scattered over the place. Spry-it aims to solve that by attempting to become a center point of community driven content, providing users with new ways to receive information and learn about Spry from RSS feeds to Adobe Wave notifications till e-mail newsletters. Not only will we attempt to bundle and organise content, we will also be providing you with content and Spry related services.
A few highlights that we attempt to provide:
A new searchable, API system, that actually contains all the information about the Frameworks methods. Not only the once the Spry team has documented. This will allow users to find more advance, and sometimes more powerful methods that will make it easier to create or polish their applications.
Articles, this will range from skinning a various of widgets. Till creating your own widgets. But also explaining best practices and performance tricks they can apply to improve Spry it self.
A desktop application that will wrap all the information for the users, providing offline documentation that will automatically update it self once connection with internet has been created.
New demo's, these will push Spry to its limits providing you insights to advance techniques with little code.
Working with new platforms, think about Iphone, Adobe AIR, Aptana Jaxer, Palm Pre.
    And much more.
So sign-up, its FREE And you just use your Adobe Account to log in. http://groups.adobe.com/groups/f1621de53b/summary
If you have idea's for your self, I'm still searching for a co-manager. The only requirement is passion.

    Ben
Personally I don't mind bumping a few topics here and there. For example if something requires attention. But just posting the word "bump" will be considered spam. The bump content needs to add some sort of value to the topic.
As for Spry-it.com progress. We are currently running on our staging server, connecting the nuts and bolts with the screws .
The Adobe groups platform is getting updated and I hope to get something running on Spry-it.com by that.

  • How do I block limited users from downloading or installing files?

Hello and greetings from the Sooner state!  I am embarrassingly seeking your advice and guidance on a topic I should have a solution for given my background as a certified A+ Technician and Cyber Security Technician in the United
States Air Force.  The issue is this, I have a user (my son) who continues to find ways to download and install malware via video online games or uncommon search engines (Vosteran), something else he has managed to do…   To this date I have
ensured that he is logging on to his Windows 7 computer utilizing a Limited User Account, I have locked down his machine utilizing a combination of iolo System Mechanic,  Microsoft Family Safety (my primary parental control software),  Microsoft
Security Essentials none of which block the installation of software at the Limited User level.   If you look at the Top 3 Parental Control suite of software there is nothing that includes such a utility as part of their software package that prohibits
or bars your kids from installing software on their own.  I know that a Limited User is supposed to be restricted from installing any software but this isn’t the case with my Son.  What would your best advice be for me in this situation?  Again,
I should have this info down pat yet I do not (that’s what retirement does to you, LOL)…   Many thanks in advance for your help!  Peace!!

    Hi Doc Bryan,
If you are using consumer versions of win7 (higher than home premium), you could use the Group policy to impose various restrictions on installing and running software and those will apply on standard users.
To prevent Installation of software by using windows installer.
Run gpedit.msc to open group policy editor.
    Navigate to Computer configuration/Administrator Templates/Windows Components/Windows installer/Prohibit User Installs
Enable this policy and change the “User Install Behavior” option value to “Hide User Install”.
To prevent downloading files from Internet Explorer
    Navigate to User configuration/Administrator Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Penal/Security Page/Internet Zone/Allow file downloads
Enable this policy and change the “Allow file downloads” option value to “Disable”.
Note: Since for Windows it is hard to define that which exe file is installation or execution of the program, there is always some way can walk around this Group policy such as hard disk copy program or using third party Internet browsers
    to download.
So you also need Parental Controls feature(also apply to home edition)
and you can find it in control panel, choose the standard account to which you want to apply the control. Now click ‘Allow and Block Specific Programs’ link and choose ‘[User] can only use the programs I allow’ option.
After analyzing, it will show you the list of all programs installed on the system which can be used by the standard user. Hit the Check All button to allow all programs, then find and uncheck Chrome and other apps that you want to restrict. When done, hit
    OK.
If your kids want to use a certain software and you find it safe to use. Log inside your Administrator account and install it from there. While installing, please select “Install for All Users” when prompted. Doing this will install the software for all
    users.
    Regards

  • Limited user not working

After upgrading to 7.5, the limited user account has to set up itunes everytime you open it and will not keep itunes as the default player. Works fine as administrator. Tried repairing.

Since Publishing is enabled, the pages are stored in the Pages library and CSS etc is stored in the Style library.  Make sure that users have access to those locations.  If they don't then having limited access won't allow viewing the default
page and navigation.  I suspect in 2010 you were using sites where the default page was stored directly in the site root folder rather than in a library.  Changes in 2013 moved away from that design.  So limited access normally won't allow display
of the root site unless you also give users access to the page and any additional required material.

  • XCOPY folder with ACL - limited user

    Hi there,
    I created another post
Here, but i think that's the wrong place for it. Apologies for double posting.
I am trying to get one of my "limited user" to run a batch file which creates a folder from a template folder. Template folder has specific ACLs. but the user attempting to run it recieves "Access
    is denied"
    batch content:
    xcopy "\\server\templatefolder" "\\server\newfolder\" /O /X /E/ H /K
The user running this batch is a limited user (Domain user but not part of the Local admin group)
    Windows 7 x64bit
    UAC is turned on
    Software
Restriction Policy is in place but this particular batch file is allowed to run
Apparently "/O" what triggers "Access is Denied". Any idea what permissions the user needs in order to run with "/O"? Adding the user to administrators, domain admin group is out of the question.
I tried changing the ownership of the template folder to that user, no go.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
First I would like to know if the issue is denied in copy files from the source folder, or copy files to the target folder.
To confirm you can give the user full control on target folder and try again.
And if "Apparently /O what triggers Access is Denied" means
you have already confirmed that it is the source folder, what's the current user permission?
I think it is easy for testing - create a test user with same permission as the "limited user", give it 1 permission at a time to find our the exact missing one.
/O means "Copies file ownership and ACL information" so I think "Read permission" is needed. "Read attributes" may also be needed. I'll go and do a test as well.

  • OIM 9.1.0.2 - User group permission conflict issue

    Hi Gurus,
IHAC who have faced a strange behavior about permission conflict.
User has been assigned to a user group (ANALISTA DRSI) who have permission to disable resource of the users he administrates. The user group has been assigned to resource's administrator.
The same use has been assigned to other user group (ANALISTA ADM DRSI) who have other permission. The user group has been not assigned to resource's administrator.
If the user has been only assigned to ANALISTA DRSI user group the user is able to see records on Rogue Account report. If the customer has been assigned to both ANALISTA DRSI and ANALISTA ADM the user is not able to see the record on Rogue Account report. He got a display error message (You do not have permission). Both user groups have the Report menu item assigned.
My question: if the customer is assigned to a user group who have permission to see the reports, should not the user is able to see the report even though he is also into the other group who do not have permission?
Is there conflit in the OIM???
Any tip will be very appreciated.

  • Trash and user group help!

why do i need to type in password when i delete things? how do i remove it?
and i can't delete items directly from the dock as well. like opening from the downloads folder and dragging the file to trash. i have to bring open up Finder and delete from the folder directly.
another issue is that am i able to remove the gues user from my start up screen? i've already disabled it from the user groups but i still see it in my login screen.
one last problem, is it a norm to have current leakage for the MBP? i've been having frequent shocks from the 2 bottom corners of it when i plug it in to a power source. i bought it from an authorized retailer and using it in the country where i've gotten it from. i've just gotten my mbp about 3 weeks back.
    thanks for replying my queries!

    Hi,
Yeah in ACS 3.1 its under the Shared Profile Components page. In ACS 4.1 its directly under the user groups or under SPC page.
You need to check the box for "define ip based access restriction" and deny access for all other groups to the wireless access points network device group.
    ACS 3.X)
    1. Denied Calling/Point of access restrictions
    2. AAA Clients =UPS_PDU (Power Supplies)
    3. Port = just put a * for all
    4. Src IP address = just put a * as well
    SUBMIT to SAVE
Create a second one for the other group like so:
    1. Denied Calling/Point of access restrictions
    2. AAA Clients =Routers_Switches
    3. Port = just put a * for all
    4. Src IP address = just put a * as well
    Click submit to save it.
Go to the ACS User groups section and select the Network Administrators Group " that don't need access to the UPS's" and apply the NAR you created to that group. Do the same for the other grouping.
    (ACS 4.X)
Go directly under the "user groups" and create the NAR under there. No need to go under the Shared Profile Components section
Hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance or explanation.
