Limiting bandwidth based on site IP address

Hi,
We have a number of sites with different bandwidth capacities
ranging fron 256kbps pipes to 1G. We would like to cap the
bandwidth used by FMS streaming to each site e.g. stream no more
than 384kbps to a site with a 512kbps connection (based on the
range of IPs at that site), to protect the performance of other
apps sharing the connection.
Can this be done in FMS2?
Thanks!

**EDIT - sry I hit the wrong
button - the above does not fix the problem. thanks though.**
Hi,
that is fine for a single IP pool, but if I have 2 available pools
depending on which NAS makes the request I cannot bind the pool to the
NAS to the group.
I'll try to illustrate the problem better:
NAS_port1 -
10.1.1.1 uses only IP_pool1 - 10.10.10.0
NAS_port2 - 10.2.2.2 uses
only IP_pool2 - 10.20.20.0
Single User1
Single Group1 (User1 cannot be
in more than one group)
User 1 turns on device and connects to either
NAS_port1 or NAS_port2 randomly
NAS_port1 makes the call to the
ACS (on this occassion, it could have been #2)
USer 1 is seen
within Group1 and permitted.
Group1 has both IP_pools available.
Which IP
address does User1 get? Always the first pool until it is exhausted,
regardless of NAS port making the request.
If NAS_port2 makes request but gets
IP from IP_pool1 then the User1 will have the wrong IP address and so
connectivity will not work.
Hi Rob,
In Multiple Pool cases the pool at the top of the list would be the first pool of addresses served to users.you cannot change the order that the pools are used in;it is always top to bottom. However, you can change the order of the pools in the list with the up and down buttons.
Hope to Help !!

  • How do I stop Firefox from redirecting me to another site based on my IPS address?

I work in California. Our corporate offices are in Oklahoma and my desktop computer is set up with an IPS address in OK. When I try to go to the CA website for AAA, Firefox redirects me to the OK website for AAA. How do I stop from being redirected to OK sites when trying to open CA sites?

hello eajames, sites can show you content and redirect you based on your IP address which will reveal your approximate location - there is not much a browser can do against this...

  • Getting really frustrated! I bought Photoshop 7, upgaded to CS2 then upgraded to CS3, now I have had computer problems and looks like both are now gone, they were not de-installed. I have limited bandwidth (I live int he country) and need a new box versio

I bought Photoshop 7, upgraded to CS2 then upgraded to CS3.  I live in the country and have limited bandwidth for my internet, therefore, the cloud will not work and I must have a box version. In Jan Best Buy did work on my laptop and did not de-install CS3, now my desktop has died and believe CS3 on it is also gone. I have the serial numbers and can not find how to contact Adobe.
I only use it for photography and do not want CS6, so I need help, can anyone help me. Thanks a million.

Why on Earth are you getting frustrated?  ?? !!
You don't even need to "contact Adobe", unless you need to activate that old deleted version.  You are entitled to two activations.
Just download the CS3 trial version and input your serial numbers (the installer might prompt you for the previous serial number since your CS3 probably has an update s/n).
Download CS3 products  <=== click on link
Anytime you want to look for something on the Adobe site, just do a Google search and add "site:adobe.com" (without the quotes) at the end of the string of keywords, for instance, this what to type in Google to find the CS3 downloads:
    download Photoshop cs3 site:adobe.com
Just change "CS3" for whatever version you want.
Using the Adobe web site search function is futile.
Now, if you had two activations already, just call customer service and they will deactivate one or both for you—after quickly verifying your registration..  No big deal.
Click on the link below, and after that click on "Still need Help? Contact us."
Then on the next page, click Chat
There is also a phone option.

  • SG500x Port-channel limited bandwidth

    Good Day All,
    I have 2 Cisco SG500X-48 setup as Master/Slave using SFP-H10GB-CU1M (10GB Twinax cable).
First question is with the twinax cables
Since on the SG500x's you can not configure the 2*10GE Stacking Combo ports. If I put two cables in for redundancy will this cause a network loop, or will STP/RSTP catch this?
    Next question is limited bandwidth.
I setup 4 Interfaces to Port channel with LACP. On the Server(HP Proliant Gen8 server(s)) end have the NIC Team with 4 NICs. When I run a network stress tool, it seems to cap at around 68MBs. Each port should being 1Gb, shouldn't I be getting closer to 4 GB?
My Configuration would read much like this:
    VLANs setup:
    ##1-RF System
    ##2-VOIP
    ##3-LAN
    interface Port-channel 3
    spanning-tree portfast
switchport trunk allowed vlan add ##1,##2
    switchport trunk native vlan ##3
    interface gigabitethernet2/1/5
    spanning-tree portfast
    channel-group 3 mode auto
    switchport mode access
    interface gigabitethernet2/1/6
    spanning-tree portfast
    channel-group 3 mode auto
    switchport mode access
    interface gigabitethernet2/1/7
    spanning-tree portfast
    channel-group 3 mode auto
    switchport mode access
    interface gigabitethernet2/1/8
    spanning-tree portfast
    channel-group 3 mode auto
    switchport mode access
I dont have much under standing on QOS yet, I assuming this would be based on setting up this?
Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated
    Chris,

    Hello Chris,
The way the stacking cables works is it detects when you are using two of them and switches over to what is called 'ring' mode.  It doesn't use both links at once, but if one of those links fails it will immediately use the second one, usually not even dropping one packet.  STP isn't an issue on the stack ports because it doesn't really use it, the stacking is a proprietary protocol that handles all of this for you.  So go ahead and plug up your second set of cables, you should see a log message saying you have moved from 'chain' to 'ring'.
As for LAGs, this is a common misconception with link aggregation.  I understand the logic, you have 4 gig links, why can't you get 4 gigs of throughput?  It has to do with how LAGs actually work.
When a packet arrives at the switch and needs to go out the LAG the switch runs a calculation on the source and destination IP (or source and destiantion MAC depending on your settings).  From this calculation it comes up with a number, in your case from 1-4.  That determines the link that it uses to get across that LAG.  There is no way to make one conversation use more than one link, it just isn't how it works.  So when you run a speed test from one IP to one other IP, the result of the switch's calculation will always be the same number, hence all the traffic for that stream goes down the same link in the LAG.
There isn't any spillover, so even if one link is much busier then the rest it doesn't move them over to one of the other links.
On some enterprise switches you can use a load balancing algorithm that uses source and destination port, which can result in multiple conversations between the same two clients to use multiple links, but on the Small Business switches we only have IP or MAC.
Basically any one conversation will always be limited to whatever the speed of 1 link in the LAG is.
It is possible to utilize the link more, but you would need several different computers talking to the server to really see that.  QoS would not change this.
As for your speed, it is a bit low, the max for a gigabit link is about 118MB/s (lab max, your mileage may vary) if you are using normal sized frames.  This is assuming two devices directly connected to the with no routing required.  How are you testing the speed?  I like to use a program called Tamosoft throughput tester for this, which is available free on the web.
    Hope that helps a bit,

  • Providing Access based on Client IP Address

    Current Scenario  -
SAP Portal is accessible directly and via Citrix (VPN).
Based on the URL alias - we have implemented Desktop Filtering.
eg if the URL ends with / internet - You get restricted roles
eg if the URL ends with / intranet - You get wider roles
In Production, we also have Netscaler Reverse Proxy and HTTPs settings in place for External (outside firewall) access.
    New Requirement (Example) -
Based on the IP address of the client, determine which subnet it falls under and based on that -
If used within Citrix - Provide certain roles
If not used within Citrix - Restricted access / Redirect to a different URL on the redirect server.
    Questions -
With the current desktop filtering in place based on URL determination and no specific restriction for inside/outside Citrix access -
1 - Please suggest which would be a good way to crack this? Inside Portal (IP address determination and SAP Logon modification) / Outside Portal (eg Citrix, Network OS Exit, Reverse Proxy etc) based on Best Practise ?
2 - Not sure if this is relevant : Find IP address of Client with webdybpro (This API works only in Web Dynpro and not PDK) ? I believe tweaking SAP Logon logic can get very painful  and overtly complicated for such scenarios.
Thanks for your inputs ~ Dhanz

    Vivek,
    On the coding front -
1 - Will reading the IP address  in the header field x-forwarded-for retrieve right results if reverse proxy is in place ? Wouldnt it retrieve the proxy / load balancer IP instead of Client IP ?
2 - Also we have HTTPS settings for extranet access - So encrypted data (eg Client IP ) is transferred that the Web Dispatcher cannot manipulate ?
    Please suggest.

  • DOM Based Cross-Site Scripting issue in RoboHelp 10

We're using a WebHelp system originally deplyed using RoboHelp 9.0.2.271, and a recent security scan revealed the DOM based cross-site scripting issue.
I recently upgraded to RoboHelp 10, migrated my help system to this version, and redeployed the system, but our security scan is still detecting the cross-scripting vulnerability in WebHelp. Wasn't this issue resolved in RoboHelp 10?

    Hi Dhanraj,
I understand that you want to redirect the url from
https://www.abc.com to http://www.abc.com/def, you can try URL Rewrite rules to achieve this goal.
Here are some posts about this topic, you can take a look.

  • Route call based on source IP address

    Hello Guys,
Is there a way to route calls based on source IP address?
I want to redirect calls to specific queues based on the ip of the phone who's starting it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Filipe Leite

    Hi Filipe
I'm assuming here that you are using CallManager rather than CME?
One option might be to use the 'device mobility' feature to assign a specific CSS to devices based on their IP subnet. That CSS could have the appropriate partitions to route to a seperate trigger that directs calls to a separate CSQ.
Of course, whether you can do this depends on whether it would be appropriate to override the device CSS in this way.

  • Is there some xml based web site....?

Who can tell me the xml based web site in the internet?
    Thanks !

I have a XML based website, but I cannot publish my url's here. Sorry.

  • ? iweb09 vs my hosted site's address wtout extra /welcome/sitename etc

iweb 09 vs my own hosted site's address wtout extra /welcome/sitename etc
Rqst for Solutions: Need to upload and have my community and visitors go to our new sites wtout the extraneous iweb09 extras on url /welcome/sitename etc for example http://www.nigeriadiasporavotes.org/votes/Welcome.html
Will, reasonably, prefer a simple and direct
    http://www.nigeriadiasporavotes.org
I've tried cyberduck and iweb's ftp
A successful solution will then allow me to to move my main sites to iweb, especially www.USAfricaonline.com
    Chido
    www.USAfricaonline.com

Unfortunately, the only way in which you are going to get the url http://www.domain.com is by publishing your site to MME and using masked web forwarding.
If you upload to an external server using Cyberduck, then yes, you can get rid of the extra site name, but just clicking on your site folder and uploading the contents rather than the whole site folder. Do not upload the separate index file either. Then your url will be http://www.domain.com/welcome.html.
There is then nothing you can do about page names displaying - there is no uploaded website that does not display http://www.domain.com/pagename.html or php or whatever - this is the way that url's and the web works - if you have a site with more than one page, then this is just how it works and there is nothing you can do.
I suppose what you can try if your site is only one page is not having a link on the site at all. I see that as you have used one of the template options and the links are included at the top - one link Welcome on your site. If you only have one page and you are not going anywhere, then you do not need one link on the site. What you can do is go back into iWeb and open the Inspector and then click on Page and hide links, so there are none. If you only have one page, then you don't need an index file, so take the links out in iWeb and then publish to a folder again and then upload just the contents of your site folder or whatever it is called 'Votes'? You don't need to upload the separate index file and you could try removing totally, the index file within the uploaded contents of your site folder and seeing if this works to provide you with a url of http://www.domain.com. It might work without the link and index file.
Other than this, then there is nothing you can do about page names being displayed after your domain name - this is normal - you can however remove the extra sitename by uploading contents rather than the whole site folder.
Your only other option is then to publish to MME and use masked web forwarding instead, which would give you www.domain.com for all you pages, so no bookmarking of individual pages, just the whole site instead.

  • Limiting bandwidth on client side with Camera.setQuality() inconsistent?

After successful bandwidthCheck() limiting bandwidth to setQuality(75000, 100)
leads to the desired result of publishing the stream with max bitrate of 75000 byte/s.
On other locations the same setting results in publishing the stream with max bitrate of
approx. 13107 byte/s. If I change bandwidth to setQuality(400000, 100) i am reaching the desired
    bandwidth limit of 75000 byte/s.
Stream is published with h264Settings.setProfileLevel(H264Profile.MAIN, H264Level.LEVEL_5_1).
    Any clues?
    These behaviour only occurs with outStream.videoStreamSettings = h264Settings;
If videoStreamSettings is not set to h264Settings all things are doing well as expected.

  • SAP Implementation on Limited Bandwidth- Satellite Connection

    Hi All,
I have an implementation scenario in which client has an overseas office connected by a 1 mbps satellite connection. We are proposing implementation of multiple instances.
I would like to seek information on the performance of SAP GUI/Web GUI on limited bandwidth connection as the bandwidth will get further downgraded to 512 kbps in the future.
Are there any tools available to enhance SAP performance in limited bandwidth environment. Please let me know of any documentation which explains SAP implementations with bandwidth constraints.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rasheed

    hi rasheed,
there are several consideration you might want to consider ?
    1. how many users on remote office will connect through that satellite connection ?
    2. you can also try low speed connection setting (on SAPGUI). This is useful when you have limited bandwidth.
    3. how big is your users (on remote office) will acquire from SAP server ?
maybe another SAP Gurus will add more checlists.

  • Document library limitation for a single site

    Hi Friends,
How many document library I am able to create within a single site.
My requirement is to create a 400 document library within a single site and each document library I need to place a 5000 document.
anyone having any idea. Please share!
    Thanks
    Mohd Yusuf

    Hi Mohd,
As far as I know, the limitations for the amount of document libraries in a single site  are governed by the Site itself which is constrained by content database limits. A site can be as large as the content database size limit for the site
collection usage scenario and a site collection can be as large as the content database size limit for the applicable usage scenario. In general, we strongly recommend limiting the size of site collections to 100 GB.

  • Seeking clarification in IPv6 Link & Site local addresses please

    Hi All
Just wondering if anybody with IPv6 knowledge can put me straight. I am currently studying for my CCNP (BSCI) and am just going over the IPv6 stuff again.
Now I understand that for the CCNP I will likely just need to know the basic theory of IPv6, however I cannot get my head around the Link-Local and Site-Local addresses.
Routing TCP/IP Vol 1 (Jeff Doyle) 2nd edition, page 54, has a table showing the high order bits of various IPv6 addresses and lists the following.
    Link-Local = 1111 1110 10 which equates to FE80::/10
    Site-Local = 1111 1110 11 which equates to FEC0::/10
Now the part I can not get my head around is this.
The first 10 high order bits equate to 2 1/2 (10 bits) nibbles, but for the Link-Local address to be FE80 would require 4 nibbles (16 bits) or
1111 1110 1000 0000. Like wise with the Site-Local address of FEC0 which would be 1111 1110 1100 0000. This would mean that the prefix should be /16 if remaining 6 bits can not be turned on.
So I am trying to understand what happens to the remaining 6 bits in these Local IPv6 addresses or to the IPv6 addresses from FE81 to FEBF and from FEC1 to FECF? Are they just ignored?
If so it would appear that nothing was learned from what happened with the initial wasteful assignment of IPv4 addresses!!
Can anybody put me out of my misery please :)
    Best Regards,
    Michael

    Hi Narayan
Thank you for your post and the information contained within.
When I went through IPv6 initially for my CCNP (BSCI) studies I understood that as the Link-Local and Site-Local addresses had a prefix of /10. I thought that once I kept the initial 10 bits of the address as specified in the RFC, I could change any and all of the other 118 bits in the address.
However my study material (which now also includes "Routing TCP/IP Vol 1&2, by Jeff Doyle) also states that Link-Local addresses will always start with "FE80" and Site-Local addresses will always start with "FEC0". This accounts for the first 16 bits, which to me (as just a CCNA with knowledge of IPv4 only) meant that the Link-Local and Site-Local addresses should actually have a prefix of /16.
After further investigation into IPv6 I am further confused as it appears that the Link and Site local addresses are derived by using the 48 bit MAC address of an interface, injecting "FFFE" between the OUI portion and the local portion and then inverting the 7th bit to reach the modified EUI-64 identifier.
This in turn means that the Link and Site Local addresses would have a prefix of /64, as the actual addresses would start off with
    FE80:0000:0000:0000: or FE80::
    FEC0:0000:0000:0000: or FEC0::.
Also while searching the web for more information I came across this site
    http://www.tcpipguide.com/free/t_IPv6SpecialAddressesReservedPrivateLinkLocalSiteLo-3.htm
which suggests as you mentioned above that all addresses between FE80:: and FEBF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF can be Link-Local addresses and that all addresses between FEC0:: and FEFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF can be Site-Local addresses.
I then read through RFC3513 (IPv6 Addressing Architecture) http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3513.html and can find no mention of these "ranges" for the Link-Local and Site-Local addresses. It seems to suggest in section 2.5.6 (and I am no expert at reading and understanding RFC's) the the Link-Local address has the first 10 bits of "1111111010" the next 54 bits set to "0" and the final 64 bits are the interface ID (modified EUI-64 ID). Again to me this suggests that the prefix should be /64
However with the Site-Local address the first 10 bits are "1111111011" the next 54 bits are the "Subnet ID" and the final 64 bits are the interface ID (Modified EUI-64 ID) which again suggests to me a prefix of /64, but also that I can manipulate the middle 54 bits.
I think the more I try to understand this the more I confuse myself. I know this is probably gone way outside what I am expected to know for my BSCI exam, but I just like to understand how things that I read in my studies are arrived at. I don't like just taking things on blind faith :)
However I think after reading the RFC that I am also getting to hung up on the fact that the texts I am reading use a /10 prefix for these addresses. I understand the the Link-Local addresses are like the addresses Microsoft OS's use when they cannot get a DHCP addresses (169.254/16) and that Site-Local addresses are equivalent to RFC1918 private addresses.
Therefore I can except that the Link-local addresses will always start FE80:0000:0000:0000: and I am assuming that the lowest Site-Local address will start with FEC0:0000:0000:0000 but can be anything up to FEFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF, which will define the subnet.
Sorry for such a long post, but I see now why network administrators are not rushing to implement IPv6 :) I think it will take time to get my head around this.
Again thank you for your input.
Best Regards and Best Wishes for the 2008 and beyond,
    Michael
