Linking phase fails for 10gR2 on Ubuntu 6.06: undefined ref to 'nnfyboot'

Question

I'm trying to install Oracle10gR2 on Ubuntu 6.06. The installation goes fine up to the linking phase where the installer reports 86% completion.
In linking phase i get the following error message dialog from OUI:
Error in invoking target 'utilities ctx_on' of makefile '/opt/oracle10g/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk'. See '/opt/oracle10g/u01/app/oraInventory/logs/installActions2006-08-12_11-54-03PM.log' for details.
The failing link command gives with the below error message:

Any ideas on how to fix this issue? Has anyone else managed to install 10gR2 on Ubuntu 6.06?

Run the following command to change the current kernel parameters:
/sbin/sysctl -p
Disable secure linux by editing the /etc/selinux/config file, making sure the SELINUX flag is set as follows:
SELINUX=disabled
Alternatively, this alteration can be done using the GUI tool (Applications > System Settings > Security Level). Click on the SELinux tab and disable the feature.

Grid Control Installation
Log into the oracle user. If you are using X emulation then set the DISPLAY environmental variable:

Start the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) by issuing the following command in the installation software directory:
./runInstaller
During the installation select the appropriate ORACLE_HOME for the grid control (oms) and select the new database option. The installation will automatically install an agent in the agent home
