Linking python and Java

Hello there. im in need of a little help.
I about to embark on a project where I have a cad program that has a built in python api, so the user can write a script and automate running a series of simulations in the program. My project is to write an equivalent java api from the python one. So basically i need to make and api for an api and call the python methods from my java api. What is the best way of linking the two languages? I have read a little into the JNI, is this the direction i need to be going in?

Python vs Java - simple benchmark comparison

Hi all,
I recently posted a speed comparison of Python vs Java.
Following Xentac's suggestion, I imported Psyco to see if I could get any JIT benefits in the Python scripts. I then tried the latested Java JDK6 dev binaries too. This follow-up can be found here.
Please be aware that I'm totally aware of the vast limitations of micro-benchmarks like these. Still, although they are based on someone else's code, I like them because they represent the typical tasks I often carry out in both my Python and Java programming: IO, lists, hashes, for loops, etc.
Any comments welcome, especially on how to optimise the Python code. I can already see a couple of ways that ought to improve the Java tests.

I agree. I honestly am not trying to say that Java is better and Python is rubbish. I love em both. There's not a great deal of difference for the most part.
I just felt that people assumed that Java was slow because they've heard it's slow, or had prior experience of the old versions.
I have friend's saying "ugh, Java is sloowwww." And so avoid it. Yet, these same people rave about Perl and Python apps. My point was simply, hate Java for other reasons - not speed!
You may notice that the Java executable is only 63K. The bulk of Java comes from its extensive class library that ships with the runtime. People think that Java must load up all the classes or something before running, when in fact it only ever loads with it needs. So, whilst the package itself is large, any sure, it does require more memory than other languages, I just don't believe it's as bulky as some assume.
The motivation for those benchmarks was a comment on Frugalware's IRC channel where someone tried it out, said it was slow, removed it, and preferred the Python/gtk front-end they have instead. Followed with some insightful remark that Java only for web apps! I don't mind others prefering other front-ends. But is Jacman really slow? Please tell me, because it runs like a dream on my system. It would go even quicker if with pacman-optimize.

Html and email link in a java application

Hi all
How do you put a email or HTML link into a Java application.
I want to put my web site address and email address into a about dialog.
I would like to be able to open the default email application and web site from this dialog box.

Try just making a label, and formatting it to look like a generic link. Then add a listener that performs the desired action when you click on it. The "desired action" would probably involve starting the user's default browser/mail-program and loading something in it. I have no idea how to do that, but the above should at least get you a "link" that responds when you click it, and that's a start.

You could also try jumping in on some of the Mozilla IRC chat channels as was suggested to someone else in another thread.
Also you could also try the [/forums/buddies new contributors forum], it does now have an Admin monitoring and replying. (At the time of the quoted post Admins were almost impossible to get hold of for forum matters )

Java plugin doesn't work, even though it's installed correctly and java programs work.

As stated. I have a link in ~/.mozilla/plugin that points to test/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so, which is the java 6 update 21 runtime environment.
Java doesn't show in about:plugins, and java applets don't start (firefox suggests to install missing plugins).
Java programs using the jre outside the browser work.
This is on Linux 32-bits, Slackware 13.0, kernel 2.6.34.

My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.

I just went up to check the LiveConnect object functionality page AND IT WORKED THIS TIME! I must confess, this is very mysterious. I will do some more checking and reply here if I can determine why it is working now (and more importantly, why it didn't work before).

How to generate all the links of the java api methods

I noticed from my docs that the JAVA API methods are not linked. They are just static text. How can i link all the java api methods to a root url examble: java.sun.com/j2se/docs/javax/JFrame#pack()

Start by reading the section "Choosing between -linkoffline and -link"
Basically, try this option first:
-link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api
If this fails (because your shell cannot access java.sun.com),
then copy package-list from java.sun.com to your current directory,
then use this option:
-linkoffline http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api .
Notice that the second argument is a dot "." to indicate
that package-list is in the current directory.

Sending Data from R/3 to Java and Java to SAP

Dear All,
I am working on a scenario in which I have to send data from sap system to Non-SAP system (Java System).
Now one way is that I made a RFC in my SAP system and Java can call it using JCO adapter. But In this case I am not able to understand how to go another way,means how to capture data or messages from Java.
Secondly I have searched and found that IDOC can help me lot in this process ,I am new to IDOCS but through R & D , I have made the IDOC and done the following steps:-
1. Segment Creation (WE31)
2. IDOC Types          (WE30)
3. Message Type     (WE81)
4. Linking Message type and IDOC type (WE82)
5. Create Distribution Model (BD64)
Now I am struck on 5th step , I am not able to distribute model when I distribute it I get the following Error
Target system AII_00_800                  RFC destination for synchronous communication (message type SYNCH)
                                                             Partner profile LS AII_00_800 SYNCH does not exist
                                                             Generate partner profile
                                                              or specify outbound partner profiles for message type SYNCH

JAVASYS is the logical system I created using SALE and ALL_00_800 is already there in LS.
I am not able to understand that my receiver system is NON SAP system so do I have to create logical system for it , and I have IDES system as sender system with only one client 800, what are all the configuration I have to do on SAP side.
I am also not able to understand where I will write my code to fetch data based on the input provided by NON SAP system as I will have to design IDOC for both Inbound and Outbound processes.

I have tried creating the partner logical system in WE20 and dine the following steps:
1. Partner No.   IDES800     Ides 800 System - Sender System

2. The tab Post processing : permitted agent is filled with default parameters.
3. Then in the outbound parameter table control I have pressed the add record button and got a new screen in
    which I have made the following entry :-

Now I am not able to understand how to do the things you have mentioned in 3rd step in your reply.
What are all the things I have to do kindly tell , as I am very new to Idocs so don't have much knowledge.

Lion Server Java Control Panel and Java applications empty?

I have installed FileMaker Server 12 on a Lion Server (10.7.5). The server is pretty clean, only a few users have been set up for CalDAV and CardDAV use in a small company. While installing the FileMaker software shouted for Java, which I installed from Oracle, version 7 update 10 (used the link).
But Java is not running fine as it seems. When I open System Preferences - Java to open the Java Control Panel, the panel shows up but is completely empty. And so for any Java program I run, all windows will show up empty.
Any ideas anyone?

Try clearing the java cache manually.
/Users/username/Library/Caches/Java/cache/
if that doesn't work follow this process.
Uninstall the JRE7
Restart
Install Java for OS X 2012-006
Restart
Install JRE7
Restart
Lastly, if this is a hackintosh you may be fighting a uphill battle. I saw a known issue posted by oracle with some graphics cards that produced this issue on windows.

Tha ABAP stack consists of the Integration Server which in turn contains your Integration Engine and Business Process Engine.
The J2EE stack contains the Adapter Engine and your IR and ID run on the J2EE engine.
Most of XI pipelines happens in the ABAP stack.
All messsages picked by the Adapter Framework running on the J2EE engine are passed to the Integration Engine, which does the routing. The mapping program again gets executed on the Java stack and the rest of the pipeline servies are executed again on the ABAP stack and so on.
Message, Java & XSLT (under Imported Archives) mappings are executed at Java stack;
ABAP & XSLT (in ABAP stack) mappings are executed at ABAP stack.

Java Web Start and Java Preferences

I am having trouble with Java Web Start and Java Preferences. I have tried reinstalling the update with the link http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/javaformacosx105 update6.html but to no avail. What else can be done ? Moreover the file /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/ seems to be in place, but Java Web Start wont open and Java Preferences can't access cache files. Any ideas about how to resolve this? I have been having issues with Java for a long time and have already done a clean Leopard reinstall and all the Combo updates. Java Web Start and Java Preferences worked correctly for a while after that but seem to have gone haywire again.
