Linking two Webhelp projects

We have a client that wants to link their particular Help to our larger Webhelp. Is this possible? If we send them a new version every couple of months would they have to redo all their links? I'm using RH7.

Hi there
As long as you don't move topics around or change their names, I'm guessing the links should remain stable.
I'd say it's just like saving a favorite to a web page. The page author can change content al s/he likes and it really doesn't affect your favorite. But if they decide to move the page to a different location or rename it, poof!

  • Linking 2 WebHelp Projects

I have 2 separate (not merged) WebHelp Pro projects that I
need to link together. I'm using customized toolbar buttons for
each project; a button on Project A calls project B and vice versa.
I need the buttons to load the called help system in the parent
window, not in a new popup, or within the topic frame.
I've tried the following button configurations from the Skin
    Editor:
Using the Link command and Browsing to the other parent
topic. This actually reloads WRONG parent toolbar (the one that's
already open) within the topic pane.
I've also noticed that making a simple hyperlink to
    http://www.adobe.com opens the
Adobe website in topic frame; I would need mine to load as the
    parent.
    Using the onClick javascript:
    parent.frames[1].location='C:\HelpProjectB\indexB.html'
This gives a "The page cannot be displayed." error. The
toolbar is still there for some reason.
*this script borrowed from Rick Stone's Skinny on Skins.
    Using the onClick javascript:
    parent.location='C:\HelpProjectB\indexB.html'
This gives a "The page cannot be displayed." error.
*this script borrowed from Rick Stone's Skinny on Skins.
The projects still on my hard-drive for testing, and I
suppose trying to call a file in this manner may be the problem.
I'm fairly proficient at RoboHelp, but I am scripting neophyte. I
    am using RH6.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in
    advance!

    Nevermind! I figured it out.
The Skin Editor's Link option is for linking a single file
(PDF, etc). The file will displayed in the topic frame and the file
will be added to the main directory.
The parent.location javascript is what I needed, but I had to
change the slashes from \ to / .
I know there is some reason for this, I can't remember what
    it is though.

  • Merging Webhelp Projects

When merging two webhelp projects (in version 7), the
subtopic is opening in a new window and the indexes are not merged.
I looked it up in the help and there is a note at the bottom that
says: "Merging WebHelp/FlashHelp projects with a pure HTML master
project or Section 508 compliant WebHelp/FlashHelp causes the
subprojects to be available only from the TOC. Subprojects will
appear as a book in the TOC. Sub-project TOC books will open the
subproject in a new browser window." That is exactly what I don't
want to happen! I was able to do it in other versions easily. What
other options do I have? All the options on the Navigation Pane
Preferred Format tab includes PureHTML. Any advice will be
    great!

There's a complete tutorial on my site.

  • Linking two Projects

I have two Master Projects which reference one another and I
would like to link the two of them together. From a specific Topic
in one project, I would like to be able to link to the relevant
topic in the other project. Is this possible? If so, how do I do
    it? PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
Your question might be easier to answer if we knew what
output you are generating (CHM / Webhelp) and with what (RH for
    Word, RH HTML).

  • Can/ how do I link two or more "projects" - not events or clips - "projects" together in final cut pro 10?

Can/ how do I link two or more "projects" - not events or clips - "projects" together in final cut pro 10?

    Thanks Tom -
I created two "sequences". They are currently listed individually in the "project library". Now I want to take sequence "B" and attatch it in it's entirety to the end of sequence "A" - forming one long sequence.
I have tried to drag sequence "B" and drop it into "A's" timeline. I have tried to creat a compound clip. I'm either missing something - or - you can create a compound "clip" or a compound "event" - but perhaps you cannot link to "projects" together.
Does this help descibe my problem?
    Thanks again.

  • Linking Two projects in oracle projects

    Dears,
I need to know how it's possible to link two projects together in one project?!
    Regards,,
    Ahmed Fazary

    Hi,
Are you expecting project program related functionality. A program is a group of related projects linked together in a hierarchy. If you define the project as program then u can link multiple project under the program.

  • Is there a way to link two FrameMaker 12 books with shared content into the same RoboHelp 11 file?

This one might require some back story.
I'm working at a company with roughly 60 business units that will each be getting their own emergency response procedures (.FM files compiled into a single FrameMaker .book file for their department). I then want to link all of these books to a single RoboHelp so that when it comes time to publish all of these plans into WebHelp menus I can do that with a single batch generate/publish.
My problem is that some of the FM files within the books are shared (maybe two or more departments are at the same location or all of them share the same corporate level plans) so that when I try to link two books with a shared FM file it throws an error.
Is there away to allow multiple copies of a FM file to exist in a single RoboHelp? Or is there a better solution to the task at hand?
Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated as I am still a moderate beginner with Frame and RoboHelp.
    ---Corey---
P.S. Just to complicate things this will all be done via SharePoint so books and FM files live there, and then the RoboHelp output will be published there.

I think you’re looking at creating a merged RH project – one parent project that subsumes all the linked FM to RH child projects – read up on merged help on Peter’s site (grainge.org)

  • In ECC 6.0, can I link a CTS project id to a transport target group?

In ECC 6.0, can I link a CTS project id to a specific transport target group?
I configured two IMG projects, namely, Phase1 and Phase2.  In SPRO, I tied them to CTS project ids, DEV_P00001 and DEV_P00002, respectively.  In STMS, I configured two transport target groups called /PHASE1/ and /PHASE2/ that I want to link with the corresponding project ids.  The intention is that Phase1 transports will go to the clients specified in the /PHASE1/ target group and that Phase2 transports will go to the clients specified in the /PHASE2/ target group
I want to link the CTS project ids to the respective transport target groups so that (e.g.) if a team member creates a transport in SE01/SE09/SE10 and chooses the DEV_P00001 project id from the Project dropdown, then /PHASE1/ will appear as the default transport target.  Likewise, if the team member instead chooses the CTS project id DEV_P00002, then /PHASE2/ will appear as the default transport target.
Right now, the user has to remember to choose the correct combination of CTS project id/transport target group.
Solution Manager is NOT involved in this scenario.
Does anyone know of a way to do this in ECC 6.0?

    Hi,
Try this it worked for me though,
    1. Goto SPRO_ADMIN
    2. Select the Project
    3. Choose Change
    4. Go To Transport Requests TAB
    5. Activate CTS Functionality
    6. Save it after the Pop Up
    7. Go to Se10 and check if the Project Field is getting Populated with the Desired Project or not.

  • Need to disable script or ActiveX control in WebHelp project

Two of our WebHelp projects display the following two
messages prior to loading the first page:
    1) "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has
restricted this file form showing active content that could access
your computer. Click here for options."
    2) "It seems javascript is disabled in your browser, please
enable it abd reload again, or click here to view without
    javascript."
I don't know my way around well enough in RoboHelp to solve
these problems. I've read that you can disable the ActiveX issue
through options in the Windows Control Panel, but that is not a
valid resolution for these customers, as that will pose security
vulnerabilities. Not sure either about how to enable javascript, as
    indicated in the second message.
Obviously there is something in these WebHelp projects that
cause these messages to display. I want to address the issues at
the project level - not the OS level. Is there a way to search a
WebHelp project foe embedded ActiveX controls and java scripts that
may cause these messages, and then figure out a way to change this
    behavior?
I am using RoboHelp HTML, version 5.0.2, build 801, and
generating the primary layout as WebHelp. I've played with the
Preferrred Format options when I generate the project, but nothing
    has solved the problem yet.
Any suggestions? Help! This novice is stumped.

It's because you are viewing the help locally. Your users
will be viewing it from a server so they will not have this issue.

  • Linking solution manager projects with CHARM implementation project

    Hi Guys,
Currently i am working in CHARM implementation project, i have created one CHARM implementation project with urgent correction and i am able to create the Transport request and release the transport request succesfully and i am able to move it to quality system successfully. But my customer is asking to link the solution manager project to CHARM implementation project.
Earlier before implementing CHARM they have implemented project managent in solution manager, during that project they have created so many projects which are currently running, now they want those projects to be linked CHARM implementation project.
When ever they create a transport request through CHARM they want the TP to be saved under a respective project which they are using currently. but according to my knowledge the TP can be saved under CHARM implementation project only.
Now i want to know whether the projects created in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN can be linked to CHARM implementation project. Pls give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.
    Thanks&Regards
    Raju

    Hello,
We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.
    Hope this helps!!! Thanks

  • Structure WebHelp project that limits access to license program module users

Where can I find information about the best way to structure a WebHelp project that needs to contain Help modules that will be accessible only to users who license the associated application? My project needs to contain core Help for the application and four modules associated with four licensable analysis program modules. I've done some research about merging Help projects, but that doesn't tell me how to set up the project or projects so that the user of program A, for example, can't see the Help for program B.

    Hi there
If you created a Merged helpset, you could structure it so that the components that are merged in are placed in different folders. Then password protect those folder or otherwise restrict them so that only validated users could see them. When the master is launched, if it cannot get to one or more child projects, they aren't listed in the Table of Contents and in the Index and Search.
I suggested this years ago for a product where I was the tech writer. The owner of the company decided on a different approach. His view?
Since they can't do the functions the help is for anyway, what does it hurt to have it available? Further, if they haven't yet purchased a module that they have help for, perhaps by seeing the help, it will help serve as a marketing tool. By seeing what is possible via the help, perhaps they might be encouraged to purchase additional modules.

  • Calling struts actions between the two Web projects

I don't know if it's the right forum for this question.
Let's say I have two Web projects: MyProjectWeb and OtherProjectWeb.
Each of them has they own struts-config.xml configuration and each of them has they own Web Deployment Descriptor (web.xml):
    <init-param>
    <param-name>config</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/struts-config.xml</param-value>
    </init-param>
Links to the Actions in the two projects are:
    http://localhost:8080/MyProjectWeb/myRender.do
    http://localhost:8080/OtherProjectWeb/otherRender.do
The question is how can I forward the action from MyProjectWeb to OtherProjectWeb ?
The configuration in MyProjectsWeb struts-config.xml would look like this:
    <action path="/myRender" type="MyRenderAction" >
    <forward name="forward" path="/OtherProjectWeb/otherRender.do" contextRelative="false"/>
    </action>
But it doesn't seem to work!
Can somebody help me with this problem?

As you've discovered, action paths are relative to the web application you're running on (so that you can deploy the app to any context path you want, without changing anything). They are not relative to the server. Therefore, forwards between webapps are not supported. Your best bet would be to redirect instead.
By the way, a good source of help on Struts specific questions is the Struts user mailing list at Apache ... it's filled with helpful people, and the archives are a gold mine of good advice. To subscribe, send an empty message to <[email protected]>.

  • Navigation button to external webhelp projects

I have 6 separate Electronic Guides, each created separately
in X5 (webhelp), and which can be individually loaded from a
separate menu Interface (created in another X5 Webhelp project)
using external HTML links. The 6 Guides, plus Menu interface are
being burned to CD Rom for distribution. The menu interface works
fine, and provides access to each Guide as required. However, what
I would like to also achieve is a situation where, once any one of
the 6 guides is opened, a button on the navigation bar will close
the Guide concerned, and allow an immediate return to the CD Menu
    interface.
I have created a button in the skin of each Guide, but cannot
create a working link back to the separate CD Menu interface.
Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    Hi Leon,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, when attempting to
create the link, I still get the message 'selected file does not
exist - Please enter a valid filename'. I think this is because the
project file for each guide is held in totally separate folders on
a networked drive, and the 'CD Menu' project is, again, in a
totally separate folder on the same drive. Therefore, the link back
to the CD Menu, in any particular Guide, cannot find the start-up
page for the CD Menu. No matter what I try, I cannot set the link
to an external file - bacuse the actual link won't let

  • How to work two seperate projects

How do you work on two separate projects in iMovie? I start a new project and all my progress in another project disappears. I start new events but that doesn't let me start a new movie

How to merge projects is covered in detail on my site. It may be though that the way the links have been set up will not be the same way links would ordinarily be set up in merged help.
For that reason you might want to consider other options.
1] Link the Framemaker content to Project B. That however would also likely have link issues.
2] Use something like ZoomSearch instead of RoboHelp's search. That would be run against the output that you are already creating. ZoomSearch is also covered on my site.

  • Put two imovie projects into one idvd project?

I have been trying for days to do something that seems so simple.
I have two imovie projects with chapters that I'd like to place as two separate movies into a single idvd project. I have tried everything, seems it should be as simple as clicking and dragging from one to the other. But idvd tells me the imovie project isn't prepared for sharing. If I share them to idvd, I get two separate projects. How do I combine them into one?

Best place to combine QT movies is in iMovie itself (that or FCP). However, the following link makes reference to combining two or more iDvd slideshows in iDvd. But one may also add multiple QT movies to the slideshow feature w/in iDvd.
