Linking two work sheets

Hi All
I have two different worksheets namely 'summary' and 'detail'. The purpose is the first worksheet contains the summary report and the second one the detailed report. My problem is both the sheets have a common field on which i linked the sheets 'contract number'. For example what i intended to do was in worksheet 'summary' if i have a field called 'contractnumber' and i click on it then it must take me to the 'detailed' report on that particular contract number. Instead its displaying all the contract numbers again. Any idea how to solve it?

Absolutely, you can do all of this. You can link worksheets in the same workbook and you can link workbooks in different workbooks. These links can only be created in Plus but they work brilliantly in Viewer where a user can go back and forth between linked worksheets using the browser Next and Back buttons.
Hopefully the following comments and workflow will help:
To effectively drill from one worksheet to another takes a little planning and forethought. I recommend that you take some time to think about what drills you intend to create. In other words, step back and try to see the big picture. You cannot create a hyper-drill if you have nowhere to drill to, so when creating a worksheet hyper-drill, you need to have created and saved the lower lower-level worksheet first. We know this sounds obvious, but you would be surprised how many people miss this step and jump right into creating the higher-level worksheet.
Note: The two worksheets can be in the same workbook or in different workbooks. While the choice is yours, we recommend that you think carefully before mixing worksheets with differing intents in the same workbook.
Having created the drill-to worksheet, you can now create the drill-from worksheet.
To build a hyper link to another worksheet, follow this workflow:
1. Build the lower-level worksheet and note the parameters that you wish to pass.
2. Create and save a higher-level worksheet.
3. Execute the higher-level worksheet so that data is displayed on screen.
4. Locate the cell from where you wish your users to be able to drill.
5. Right-click on the cell and, from the pop-up menu, select Manage Links. The Manage Links dialog box will now open.
6. The Manage Links dialog box is the place where you create, edit, delete, or reorder the links in your worksheet. It has the following areas:
Item - This is the name of a worksheet item.
New Link - Click this button to create a new hyper link.
Edit Link - Click this button to edit an existing hyper link.
Delete Link - Click this button to delete an existing hyper link.
A set of move up / move down buttons - If there are multiple links from the same items, these buttons allow you to order the list of links. You can move an item up or down one place, or you can move an item to the top or to the bottom of the list.
OK - Click the OK button to save the changes that you have made and return to Discoverer Plus.
7. Click the New Link button. This opens the New Link dialog box.
8. The New Link dialog box is where you create a new hyper link. It has the following areas:
What would you like to name this link? - Type a meaningful name into this area. The name that you type here is the name that will appear in the list of hyper links when the user clicks in the cell.
Where do you want to link to? - Your valid options are Worksheet and URL. Use the drop-down button to change the selection.
Destination - This area will be displayed only when you are creating a URL link. Discoverer automatically inserts the characters http:// and is waiting for you to type the remainder of the URL.
Destination Workbook - This area will be displayed only when you are creating a worksheet link. Use the Browse button to select the workbook containing the worksheet that you wish to use.
Destination Worksheet - This area will be displayed only when you are creating a worksheet link. It will be accessible only after you have selected the workbook that contains the worksheet you wish to use. Use the drop-down button to select the worksheet you will be using.
Parameters - If the worksheet that you are drilling to has parameters, you can optionally choose what values Discoverer will pass to those parameters whenever the user drills through. You are not mandated to pre-assign any parameters. If you choose not to pre-assign the parameters, then the user who is following your link will be required to supply the parameters at run time. However, should you decide to pre-assign parameters, and we recommend that you do, click the Parameters button. Discoverer will display the Parameters dialog box discussed next.
9. The Parameters dialog box enables you to pre-assign values to the parameters that exist in the lower-level worksheet. You assign one of the following values:
The parameter that was accepted as input to the current worksheet, or
The cell value from the current worksheet
10. To pick a value to pass to the next worksheet, click the drop-down button alongside the parameter. Discoverer will now display the valid values that can be passed. These will be displayed in the following order:
Data points
Cell values
Parameter values
11. Continue assigning values to the parameters in the lower-level worksheet.
12. When all parameters have been assigned a value, click the OK button.
Note: The OK button will be grayed out until you have completed the New Link dialog box

    I need to link two ODS objects and both are having 3 common characteristics and the relationship between the two objects are one to many.
    My questions would be....
    1)When the relationship is one to many can I set it up in the multiprovider to sum it up and show in the report?
    2)I have 5 other charaterstics that I need to report(Slice and dice) on, but these are not common ones to both ODS objects. Is it possible for the user to get the report based on these charaterstics also? Or do I need to make sure that these 5 also exist in both DOS objects?

    Thank you very much for your reply. But I have few concerns.
    1)One to many relationship will not have any effect on the data linking since the multiprovider clubs the key figures on common characteristics. I tried this on the system and it worked.
    2)The problem would be not having similar characteristics on both infoproviders. So if I want to report on the chars individually it will have a problem( Will come as non assigned values)
    But the documentation says the multiprovider supports Homogenous and Heterogeneous cases. Please refer the following link.

    I am not sure what I can do now....whether to get all the characteristics in both infoproviders by enhancing the them. Or is there another way?
    And lastly the scenario I am looking at is billing and cost of goods. So I might find records in cost of goods which may not have corresponding records in billing.(There can be goods in stock which need to be billed)The problem would be the way multiprovider link records(union) so it will have all the records from both sides even if they do not correspond to each other.

  • Is there a way to link two FrameMaker 12 books with shared content into the same RoboHelp 11 file?

    This one might require some back story.
    I'm working at a company with roughly 60 business units that will each be getting their own emergency response procedures (.FM files compiled into a single FrameMaker .book file for their department). I then want to link all of these books to a single RoboHelp so that when it comes time to publish all of these plans into WebHelp menus I can do that with a single batch generate/publish.
    My problem is that some of the FM files within the books are shared (maybe two or more departments are at the same location or all of them share the same corporate level plans) so that when I try to link two books with a shared FM file it throws an error.
    Is there away to allow multiple copies of a FM file to exist in a single RoboHelp? Or is there a better solution to the task at hand?
    Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated as I am still a moderate beginner with Frame and RoboHelp.

    P.S. Just to complicate things this will all be done via SharePoint so books and FM files live there, and then the RoboHelp output will be published there.

    I think you’re looking at creating a merged RH project – one parent project that subsumes all the linked FM to RH child projects – read up on merged help on Peter’s site (grainge.org)

    But the question they are asking is the same one I am asking. Isn't this a typical situation, having multiple mics for one camera? For example, if someone filmed a concert with one camera but used both the camera audio, and ambient mic, and a mix from the board, then that would be 3 audio tracks with 1 video track. I'm in a similar situation, and I'm finding it hard to believe that FCPX isn't equipped to edit this way. There must be some way to get one video clip (with reference audio) to sync with four audio tracks.

    I have created links in a MS Word 2007 document, including in a Table of Contents, a List of Tables, as well as internal cross-reference links.  I have converted to a pdf file using Acrobat 9 Pro.  All the links were retained except for the page links in the Table of Contents.  Does anyone have any insight into how to correct this error?

    You can get links to work in Numbers documents that have been converted to PDF, but it's quirky.
    No links survive Printing to PDF
    Links outside of tables (links in text boxes, etc.) survive Export in Sheet View
    Links inside and outside tables survive export in Page View

  • Command link not working for project on deployment as ear file

    Its a very strange problem i am facing ..
    I have two screen with the same VO showing the details records split in two pages ( Master/ details)
    it shows a table structure in the firts screen and on clicking through the command link shows the details in the secong page .
    its working fine on the LOCAL machine ( JDEV) but once the ear file is deployed to the server it gives the follwing exception :

    Use the uninstall scripts from Adobe to completely remove all vestiges of PPro from your computer. Then perform the installation.

    right now i am working on the same issue.
    what right i am doing is that,
    i want to download an internal table it is containing more than 2 lakhs records but excel can accomidate 60000 records, so
    before call gui download i am sending first 60000 records into another internal table with same time, by using append statemen and indexs,
    that new internal table i am downloading
    again i am repeating the same thing by using sy-tabix,
    finally i am creating more than one excel file
    by using oops concepts we can also create in one excel file no of work sheets
    but its lengthy process so i am right now creating no of excel files only
    if it is useful , pls rewards points to this answer

  • Problem linking css style sheet

    I am trying to link a css style sheet to a new root file. When I try to link the css sheet I get an error - A recursive style import was found while trying to add CFTtemp.css. Please resolve this error by editing the file in an external text editor and try again.
    What does this mean?  I looked up recursive style everywhere and there is no explanation.  I don't know how to fix.  This css sheet works in other sites.

    Perhaps some CSS statement in the stylesheet is trying to import your stylehseet! Thus the recursive warning. Look for "@import" statements and see if its trying to import the stylesheet. Then either comment them out (/*your old CSS*/) or remove it. Save. And see if that solves it. But not being able to see your whole stylesheet, this is only a guess.

  • Linking two imacs?

    I know this has probably already been discussed at one point or the other but I need some information.
    I have an Intel iMac and a G5 iMac that both have Firewire ports. I do a lot of photography work and have many app open at once. I would like run Photoshop on one machine and Aperture on the other. All I need to do is be able to drag and drop from one computer to the other my image files. Is there any way to link two iMacs to do this. Obviously there is no way to control both computers with the same mouse and keyboard but I would like to at least be able to move files from one to the other with out having to do it over a network (router with ethernet). I just want to hook both computers together with one cable and drag and drop from one computer to the other. Any suggestions?

    Target Disk Mode (TDM) effectively turns the Mac that is in TDM mode into an external hard drive for the other Mac. This will certainly allow you to drag & drop files & folders between the two Macs ... but only one of the Macs will be usable while the other basically becomes a hard drive connected to it.
    It sounds like you want both Macs running as normal, but you want to share files/folders between them. And you don't want to do it via ethernet for some reason. Why? Networking would work fine.
    You can directly connect the 2 Macs via an ethernet cable or via a FireWire cable and network them together that way, no router is needed. In both cases you would have to turn on File Sharing in the Mac whose files you want to share; and log on to it from the other Mac via Go > Connect to Server. (If you use FireWire, you also have to set FW as your preferred network in System Preferences > Networking; also on the Firewire pane, set Configure IPv4 = DHCP.)

    I am trying to link two reports using parameters. I cannot use subreport option becuase inside the subreport I should link another report too. So,
    Report 1(High level summary)
    Report 2(Middle level summary)

    I tried to use hyperlink option and used following string.

    1. Server name: Does it include port number??
    2. Virtual Directory: I am absolutely lost. I tried the "frsinput" directory the actual rpt file is storing. It is not working.
    Do you have general path??
    3. Parameters: I have 5 parameters to pass. 3 of them are Strings and the rest are DateTime.
    Basically, I need any tutorial about this kinds of things. The tutorial I have got only discribe link like "www.yahoo.com"

    I am trying to link two reports in the crystal report designer->deploy to the server->show in the DHTML viewer.
    When I create a URL from report A, it looks like "&" disapears. For example, I created a hyper link from report A using formula,
    http://server:port/........openDocument.jsp?sDocName=reportB&sType=rpt&paramName1="Trim(ToText({?param1},"#####"))"&paramName2="+Trim(ToText ({?param2},"#######"))
    But when I see the actual URL, all the "&" disappears so it looks like
    http://server:port/........openDocument.jsp?sDocName=reportBsType=rptparamName1="Trim(ToText({?param1},"#####"))"paramName2="+Trim(ToText ({?param2},"#######"))
    No wonder it is not working.
    I guess I need special protection for "&" sign. Do you know any?

    I have this dilemma on how to link two tables without a reference. In the Business Partner Master Data, there is a field for the Territory which is from the table OTER. This OTER focuses on its description. Once you have added the particular Territory for that Business Partner, it is being stored in the Territory field of the BP right? Our client wants to have an automated way of searching for the Business Partner's Profit Center in creating a Sales Order wherein it is the same as the Business Partner's Territory. The Profit Center is from the table OPRC.
    When I create a Sales Order, after I have entered the Business Partner/Customer Code, the Profit Center should have the value of the Profit Center Code wherein it is the Business Partner's Territory. My query will go like this:
    Enter the BP/Customer Code automatically the Profit Center code where Profit Name = BP's Territory.
    OTER and OCRD don't have connections. How can it be?
    I'm thinking of retrieving the Territory first before the Profit Center but can you suggest of any other way?

    Was above illustration correct? Then, you could use this formatted search in Cost Centre / Dimension field in Sales Order rows

    However, I suggest you use a little bit different approach here. Since you can't define Territory Code / Territory ID (you could only type the Territory name, Philippine etc.), why don't you standardize Territory name with Cost Centre code? Let say, you define Philippine as PHI, Indonesia as INA, Germany as DEU and so on. Therefore, user can read the Cost Centre or more precisely Distribution Rules in Sales Order form in more familiar way.

    PHI - Philippine

    When FMS worked in Sales Order document, your user will read PHI instead of 25, should be more familiar to them. With that being said, you could use simpler FMS

    WHERE T1.CardCode=$[OCRD.CardCode.0]
    You only need to maintain consistency between Territory Name and Cost Centre code. Just my two cents. Hope this help.

  • Linking two networks via wireless connection

    I am looking to ‘link’ two parts of my house together to the same network… how do I do this?
    I have a WRT54G in my office(Point A) where the DSL comes in. In another part of my house (Point B) I want to add another desktop and a network device both have 100Meg wired connections at point B. How can I link A and B together via wireless while still having the devices in Point B connected to a wired hub.
    I want my WRT54G at A to control DHCP, etc.
    From looking at the Bridge WET54G it will connect to one device only. Looking at the Wireless Access Point it is not clear what the differences are as they both have only one port… Do I need an access point to attach to a hub? Therefore two products?
    Any help would be great.
    This is what I tried before based on what one of the guys in the store told me... but it did not work.
    I tried buying a USB wireless adaptor (Netgear) to add to the PC and then have the PC plugges into a $15.00 switch I picked up at Fry's. then plugging in the Sonos into the switch. The Netgear adaptor was junk and dropped connection all the time and would not work with WEP. After messing with the DNS and gatway it kind of worked, but took forever to access anything as I guess it was trashing around to with all the network paths... I really dont know, but I do know it did not work.

    hello ! so far you have been on the right track....i'll help you clear the confusion
    the WRT will communicate wireless with the WET(bridge) the bridge will be hardwired to a switch....and the othe PC and netrwork device will also be hardwired to the switch.
    The way this will work ....the DHCP will be controlled by the router...this in turn will assign DHCP ip's to all PC's/devices connected to the network.
    The PC and network device connected to the switch will get the IP from the router itself...the bridge will do exactly that.....it will bridge a wired and wireless medium.
    So go in for a WET .....and let me know if you face any issue or need any further clarification .

    I have a query that will give me the sales value in January 2012 (monthly query)
    But I would need to use the sales value of January 2012 to help derive the weekly sales value in another query (weekly query).
    How would you link up two queries together?
    I tried using union but it doesnt seem to be working.

    Sure, My pleasure. Here are the basic steps what you could go through.
    1. Create an analysis with your Month (January) and Sales.
    2. Save this analysis as Report1.
    3. Create another analysis with Week and Sales.
    4. Create a filter on column:Sales using the option 'Based on Another Analysis'. The analysis editor will provide you an option to browse your other analysis which you want this analysis to be based on and just click on this browse button, and navigate to and select Report1.
    5. Once you have selected Report 1 through browse option, you get down in the same pop-up the relationship and use values in column.
    So sample entries in this pop-up might look like
    Column : Sales
    Operator : is based on results of another analysis
    Saved Analysis : /My Folder/Report1
    Relationship : is equal than
    Use values in Column : Sales
    6. If you run this analysis, you could get all weekly sales figures which are equal to the january sales figures.

  • Flash 8 Links Stop Working!

    I've gone through the forums here and elsewhere but found no solution. I apologize if I've over-looking something.
    I use Flash 8.
    I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.
    But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
    The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.

    The file still doesn't work. But I uploaded it to another section of the server (not sure why I did that) and it worked.
    BUT, there's a catch. It only works on pages that are ON THAT SERVER.
    I've tried it on 2 different servers (Aa & Bb) with the same results.
    Anyone know what might be causing this? Both directories are public.
    Even trying to add the Flash to a page through a embedding code yields the same results.
    Examples:
    Flash is place on server Aa & the page that holds it is on server Bb, then the links don't work (and vis-versa).
    But Placing the both the Flash and the page that holds it on the same server ends in success.
    Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work. Especially if the button's links are full "http:// www.  Website  .com" address as I've used here.
    What am I missing?
