List of obsolete objects and tables

Hi,
Can anyone give the list of obsolete objects and tables from 4.6c to ECC 6.0 upgrade. Also other upgrade issues and solutions faced for ECC 6.0 upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

You may have an overview wirth Solution Browser tool (at the solution point of view) in order to compare functionality between your current system and the ERP 2005.

    Impact Analysis: How to trace which Webi objects and tables used in a report?
    Currently, our company have been using BO Webi as our ad-hoc and reporting tool for over a year now.  Past several months, we've been pushing our power users to develop their own report, and started to notice that we loss track off which data (tables, columns, ... , BO objects) being used where and by whom.   The BI team now spend more time tracing through reports manually, instead of designing Universe.
    After consulted with our local  SAP  technical sale, they said the only solution is to buy BO's ETL (Data Integration) and
    Metadata Management tool, which price starting from $300K per CPU.  I suppose that is NOT the right solution; however, we have not found one yet.  Some executives believe Cognos (now by IBM) would provide a better BI solution as we scale.
    If anyone know, please provide (1) Impact Analysis method: How to trace which Webi objects and tables used in a report? and (2) Does Cognos provide better impact analysis method without a heavy spending?
    Thank you very much,

    EdPC-SCB,
    have you tried enabling auditing?
    - Yes, audit log only shows user's activities which isn't useful for us. Please let us know any audit log that might be helpful .
    For most of the servers listed in the CMC there is an "Audit" tab.  I'd say if you have the disk space in your database for Auditor available, then if in doubt turn it on (at least for a while) to see if it exposes what you are seeking to find out --that'd be the quickest way.  The documentation (xir2_bip_auditor_en.pdf) doesn't offer much in helping you to see a correlation between ticking on an Audit option in a Server and how it will populate in the Auditor DB -- most of us just hunt and peck until we get what we want.  Once you have the good stuff in each of the Servers ticked on you'll be able to track down which report recieves which object.  To help youself out initially, you should run every report that you can find so Auditor will get seeded.
    thanks,
    John

    Im using oracle database 11g R2 11.2.0.2If you want the all the metadata of whole database, then it is quiet difficult to get from DBMS_METADATA, as it is very complex because you need to gather for each object of each schema in whole database and to spool.

    I want to know, what is the use of entire database metadata, Certainly need of objects of metadata.

    Hi Ram,
    I'm not aware of a document that lists objects that are become obsolete after an R12 upgrade. What concerns are you trying to address? If you'll allow me to assume that you are thinking about custom reports, you could have a look at the Oracle Financials and Oracle Procurement Functional Upgrade Guide: Release 11i to Release 12 to see how E-Business Tax and Subledger Accounting (SLA) impact the organization of data in Financials. Our reports administrator discovered that, after the upgrade, some tables she was accustomed to using were empty, and that the data had been moved to other schemas.
    Of course, that document only covers Financials. I don't know of similar documents for other product families. I don't work on the functional side of things, so I'm already way over my head here. ;-)
    You could also run through a test upgrade and see which of your reports break. That's neither quick nor easy, but you're going to have to do it at some point anyway.

  • ABAP Objects and table processing (with logical databases)

    I have a report that is written right now using procedural abap and a logical database.  The report is structured follows (high level):
    start-of-selection.
    get pernr.
      perform get_it0001 using wtab.
      perform get_it0002 using wtab.
      perform get_it0003 using wtab.
      append wtab to itab.
    end-of-selection.
      call function 'reuse_alv_grid_display'
        exporting
          i_structure_name       = 'itabstructure'
        tables
          t_outtab               = itab.
    So basically I'm going through a bunch of personnel numbers, getting a few infotypes and outputting to ALV.  I don't see where ABAP Objects is going to help me for this particular program.
    Can somebody show me where OO ABAP would make this easier?  Does it even make sense to use OO when you're processing with a logical database?  (Not just PNP, but any logical database in general).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Lee
    I assume that the routines GET_ITnnnn are written by yourself. For reading infotypes ABAP Objects provides us with same very helpful classes as shown below:
    * define data
      DATA:
        gif_employee      type ref to if_pt_employee,
        go_employee       type ref to cl_pt_employee,
        gt_infotypes      TYPE tim_tmw_itlist_tab,
        go_control        TYPE REF TO if_pt_td_control,
        go_data           TYPE REF TO if_pt_td_base,
        go_pnnnn          TYPE REF TO if_pt_td_itnnnn,
        gt_p0001          TYPE TIM_P0001_TAB,
        gt_p0002          TYPE TIM_P0002_TAB,
        gt_p0003          TYPE TIM_P0003_TAB.
    start-of-selection.
    GET pernr.
    <b>* Create employee instance</b>
      gif_employee = cl_pt_employee=>get_employee( pernr ).
      go_employee ?= gif_employee.
    <b>* Get master infotypes (0001, 0002)</b>
      CALL METHOD go_employee->get_master_data
        EXPORTING
          im_begda = id_fromdate
          im_endda = id_todate
        IMPORTING
    *      EX_I0000 =
          EX_I0001 = gt_p0001
          EX_I0002 = gt_p0002
    *      EX_I0007 =
    *      EX_I0008 =
    <b>* Append all other required infotypes to itab</b>
      APPEND '0003' TO gt_infotypes.
      CALL METHOD go_employee->get_infotypes
        EXPORTING
          i_itlist      = gt_infotypes
          i_fromdate    = id_fromdate  " start date
          i_todate      = id_todate    " end date
    *      I_FILTER      =
          i_noauthcheck = 'X'
        IMPORTING
          e_result      = gt_infty_request
          e_retcd       = gd_retcd.
    * Please see documentation of parameter e_retcd...
      LOOP AT gt_infty_request INTO go_control.
        go_data = go_control->data.  <b>" get data object</b>
    *   Casting
        TRY.
            go_pnnnn ?= go_data.
          CATCH cx_sy_move_cast_error.
            CONTINUE.
        ENDTRY.
    <b>*   Convert infotype (semi-transparent -> transparent)</b>
        CALL METHOD cl_hr_pnnnn_type_cast=>prelp_to_pnnnn
          EXPORTING
            prelp = lo_pnnnn->prelp
          IMPORTING
            pnnnn = gs_p0003.
        APPEND gs_p0027 TO gt_p0003.
      ENDLOOP.
    The class CL_PT_EMPLOYEE provides us already with very easy access to so-called master infotypes (000, 0001, 0002, 0007 and 0008). All other infotypes can be read using method GET_INFOTYPES.
    Using these classes we have a very convenient and standardized way of accessing all kinds of infotypes.

  • How to handle plsql Object and Table type inside BPEL

    Hi All,
    I have a procedure with 5 IN and 4 OUT parameters. Out of 4, One is Object type and remaining 3 are Table type. Now in my bpel, i am calling this proc from DB Adapter. The DB Adapter wizard created XSD with proper structure. But when i am testing this i am not getting these out parameters values in the payload of Invoke DBAdapter activity. I am neither getting errors nor output.
    What could be the issue.?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sudheer

    Arik,
    JDev is not creating any wrapper packages as such. It simply created a XSD with same as my procedure name.
    My XSD looks like this...
    <element name="OutputParameters">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="P_OBJ_H_INFO_O" type="db:APPS.H_OBJ_TYPE" db:index="6" db:type="Struct" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <element name="P_TAB_L_INFO_O" type="db:APPS.L_TAB_TYPE" db:index="7" db:type="Array" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <element name="P_TAB_M_INFO_O" type="db:APPS.M_TAB_TYPE" db:index="8" db:type="Array" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <element name="P_TAB_A_INFO_O" type="db:APPS.A_TAB_TYPE" db:index="9" db:type="Array" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    And again the 3 table types internally referring object types.
    Thanks for reply. Awaiting response...

  • Abap Objects and table type

    Hi,
    The following is a public attribute in the class CL_MEREP_SYNCBO_META
    data FIELD_GROUPS type MEREP_TSYNCBO_FIELD_GROUP read-only .
    MEREP_TSYNCBO_FIELD_GROUP  is a table type having ref type CL_MEREP_SYNCBO_FIELD_GROUP (which is a class)
    What is the meaning of such table type?
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
    It simply means that any data object that is declared using this table type will be able to hold the objects (actually object-references) of that class.
    You can think of it as an array of pointers (to objects).

  • Translation of Columns and Table Names

    Hi,
    We are starting a large migration project and we have a mix of dutch and english developers.
    I was wondering if there is any clever ways to translate column names and table names.
    Not physically translate the text but store the english column name against the dutch column name?
    I know I could write a view which overlays the table with the english version but I was wondering if there was something a bit cleverer?
    Anyway to store multiple meta data against a physical table?
    Thanks
    Richard

    I'd tend to agree with Nicolas that you'd generally want all the developers to agree on what a particular object was called rather than having half of them think of it in Dutch and half in English.
    On the other hand, it would make sense to me that the comments you create on your objects and tables should be multilingual, i.e.
    SQL> create table my_emp (
      2    name varchar2(100)
      3  );
    Table created.
    SQL> comment on table my_emp is 'Table containing employee information.
      2  Lijst die werknemersinformatie bevat.';
    Comment created.(The translation is from babelfish.yahoo so I apologize if it butchers the Dutch).
    The developers should be able to see the table and column comments in their IDE of choice and should be able to see what the object represents in their language.

  • Exporting VI content (objects and connections)

    Hello everyone,
    I would like to obtain a list of the objects AND connections of the block diagram of a VI. In other words, I would like to find out from a VI what objects, subVIs etc. contains an other VI...  Is this possible somehow?
    (e.g. if we have two boolean controls, named Bool1 and Bool2, a boolean indicator, named Bool3, and these three are connected by the means of an AND gate - Bool3=Bool1*Bool2,
    then I would like to obtain the content of my VI, which is either the formula Bool3=Bool1*Bool2,  or something like a date packet
    Controls: Bool1, Bool2;
    Indicators: Bool3;
    Objects: AND gate;
    Connections: Bool1-1st input of AND gate, Bool2-2nd input of AND gate, Bool3-output of AND gate).
    The Export Strings function from the Tools menu exports only a tagged list about the objects, without mentioning anything about the connections.
    Hope you understand my question!
    Thanks a lot for your help!
    Lorant

    There is just one point I'm just thinking about that... for instance when you have a multiplication, if you right click on the output part and choose "create indicator", an indicator is create with a default name "X*Y"... that sort of mean that LabVIEW can, in some cases, tell you where the outputs come from, no ?

  • Listing New Objects Like views and tables

    Hi...
    Are we able to use SELECT statement to get a list of objects like tables or views which created in a given time frame ?
    For example, since OCT 2010...
    Thanks.

    hi,
    these objects are depend on your interest.
    actually there are three types of tables which stores the information about objects:
    1. user_objects: which contains all the objects that are owned by the owner of the schema.
    2. all_objects: this shows you all the objects that are acccesible to you, i.e. may be you can have access on some other user's objects.
    3. dba_objects: which shows the objects in the database.

  • What is authorization object and how to create it for a table

    Hi All,
    What is authorization object and how to create it for a table?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Authorization
    For authorization checks, there are many ways of linking authorization objects with user actions in an SAP system. The following discusses three possibilities in the context of ABAP programming.
    Authorization Check for Transactions
    You can directly link authorization objects with transaction codes. You can enter values for the fields of an authorization object in the transaction maintenance. Before the transaction is executed, the system compares these values with the values in the user master record and only starts the transaction if the appropriate authorization exists.
    Authorization Check for ABAP Programs
    For ABAP programs, the two objects S_DEVELOP (program development and program execution) and S_PROGRAM (program maintenance) exist. They contains a field P_GROUP that is connected with the program attribute authorization group. Thus, you can assign users program-specific authorizations for individual ABAP programs.
    Authorization Check in ABAP Programs
    A more sophisticated, user-programmed authorization check is possible using the Authority-Check statement. It allows you to check the entries in the user master record for specific authorization objects against any other values. Therefore, if a transaction or program is not sufficiently protected or not every user that is authorized to use the program can also execute all the actions, this statement must be used.
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT object
                            ID name1 FIELD f1
                            ID name2 FIELD f2
                            ID namen FIELD fn.
    object is the name of an authorization object. With name1, name2 ... , and so on, you must list all fields of the authorization object object. With  f1, f2 ... , and so on, you must specify the values that the system is to check against the entries in the relevant authorization of the user master record. The AUTHORITY-CHECK statement searches for the specified object in the user profile and checks the useru2019s authorizations for all values of f1, f2 ... . You can avoid checking a field name1, name2 ... by replacing FIELD f1  FIELD f2 with DUMMY.
    After the FIELD addition, you can only specify an elementary field, not a selection table. However, there are function modules available that execute the AUTHORITY-CHECK statement for all values of selection tables. The AUTHORITY-CHECK statement is supported by a statement pattern.
    Only if the user has all authorizations, is the return value sy-subrc of the AUTHORITY-CHECK statement set to 0. The most important return values are:
    ·        0: The user has an authorization for all specified values.
    ·        4: The user does not have the authorization.
    ·        8: The number of specified fields is incorrect.
    ·        12: The specified authorization object does not exist.
    A list of all possible return values is available in the ABAP keyword documentation. The content of sy-subrc has to be closely examined to ascertain the result of the authorization check and react accordingly.
