Listen to ipod touch on another pc that doesn't have itunes ?

Not allowed to have itunes on my windows-based work computer. I want to bring ipod touch to work and listen to my music using Windows Media Player. Is this possible ? Tough to find answer online - found some things, but they pertain to just a regular ipod, not the touch. Thanks in advance.

  • Is it possible to connect your ipod touch to a computer that doesn't have iTunes installed on it?

My computer that I usually use has recently died and I cannot access my iTunes.
Is it possible to connect my ipod touch to a computer that does not have iTunes just so that I can get my content off my ipod?

    Hello,
    What you mean by content?
But anyways you will need to install iTunes to the other computer for syncing/backuping etc.
Just download and install on the other computer.
And if it's not a HDD problem with you old computer you can maybe get back even some backups if you had.
    Hope it helps,

  • Charging iPod on pc that doesn't have iTunes

Is it ok and safe to charge my iPod on a computer (like at work) that doesn't have iTunes and has a USB 1 port? What it the best way to disconnect? Being new to an iPod I don't want to harm it. =)

"Is it ok and safe to charge my iPod on a computer (like at work) that doesn't have iTunes and has a USB 1 port?"
Yes. Presumably this usb 1.1 provides enough power?
"What it the best way to disconnect?"
Use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.

  • TS1538 iPod Touch with blank screen that doesn't shut off and not recognized by iTunes?

I opened the app "MyTown 2", and it stayed on the opening screen for about 5 minutes - WAYYY too long! So I tried to close the app. A slight grayscale sort of film "slid" down over the opening screen, and then it went to this light gray, completely blank screen. It's been that way for over an hour - no matter what I do, can't do a hard shut down, and the device is not recognized by iTunes at all. It's completely DEAD!!!! Is there any hope? Anyone have a clue?

Following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod Touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the device in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

  • TS1382 I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch with a screen that doesn't ligbI8 hiijhbvvcfghhcbbjht up and at times it returns to the home screen while typing such as in facebook.  Any suggestions?

I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch.  Lately the screen will not light up and also at times while typing it returns to the home screen (such as in facebook. Any suggestions?

Have you tried any of the usual 5 R's for troubleshooting.  See here for more information.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If none of those resolve the issue (including restoring the device back to factory defaults), the backlight issue is likely hardware related, meaning you'll need to have your iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

  • My IPod touch 3rd gen. 8GB doesn't have any of the capabilities a "3rd gen." has.  If I would have known this I might have purchased a 16 GB or 32 GB instead.  Why did apple make such a product?  Can I do something about this?

    Please help.

That's because it's not actually a 3G iPod Touch. It's a 2G unit. Apple never sold 3G 8 GB iPod Touches, but some third party resellers erronenously reffered to them as so.

  • TS1559 My iPod Touch 3rd Gen I think (Doesn't have a camera), bluetooth and wi-fi grayed

My iPod Touch's Bluetooth and Wi-fi are now grayed out, I have tried everything to fix it.  It happened right after I upgraded it to the new iOS 5.1.1,  could this be an effect caused by the new iOS firmware?  It has not been dropped, thrown, broken, wet, etc.  Is this an affect the new firmware had on it?  Will it be fixed with iOS 6 or is it permanent?

It's clear it isn't under warranty so I would check the link above first. Also I'm sorry to say you will not be running ios6 on that device anytime soon as it is not supported. Check the very bottom of http://www.apple.com/ios/ios6/ sorry I couldn't make it a link I'm on an iPad writing this.

  • My ipod touch 3g turns on but doesn't have any icons. What do I do?

My ipod touch 3g turns on, has the display picture, but doesn't have any icons. What do I do? No safari, music, videos, app store, itunes, no apps at all! I've tried restoring it, but it tells me "the ipod could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build". It won't let me do anything. Goes back to the empty screen and search. HELP!!!

The Apple article listed at the bottom of this post states:
Cannot be restored. This device is not eligible for the requested build: If you receive this error, you likely do not have the latest version of iTunes installed. Check http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ for the latest available version of iTunes. If you do have the latest version of iTunes, this can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new IPSW. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported.

  • Does the last updated backup in Time Machine have all my files for "standard" file copy? (i want to copy and paste files to another computer that doesn't have TM)

My personal Macbook pro died, but I did have a Time Machine backup. I have a new iMac that I would like to use as a family computer. I would like to transfer some files to the new computer (and set-up a new Time Machine backup), but archive the remainder on a non-TM drive. I was planning to:
    1. File copy my last backup folder from my old TM drive to the new computer
    2. Copy (and then delete) the files I want to archive on another HD drive
    3. Wipe clean my current TM drive
    4. Set-up TM on my new computer
Is this a good way to proceed?
Is copying the last backup folder (vs. all backup folders) enough to move my files over?
    Any better approaches appreciated!

I suggest you visit MicroCenter and go to there Apple section and ask one of there guys if they are still offering the 2 terabyte Backup For the iMac, Mine was only $100.00.
So the iMac has Time machine plus the USB 2 Terabyte Backup for less than your $130.00

  • How can I deauthorize iTunes on my PC that doesn't have iTunes installed (crashed with latest update)?

I'm retiring my old PC and want to deauthorize my purchased iTunes library (over 1,000 songs) but have a problem.  The last time I tried to update iTunes on the computer, the installation crashed and iTunes was removed.  My music is still there.  I just can't figure out how to deauthorize the computer without using iTunes.  I've tried reinstalling iTunes several times and always get "Error 7" with further instructions to try again.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only use this feature once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.

  • When I got the prompt to update my iPod Touch 4th generation, the update claimed to have over 200 new features including Siri. Is there going to be another update that would make this a true statement?

When I got the prompt to update my iPod Touch 4th generation, the update claimed to have over 200 new features including Siri. Is there going to be another update that would make this a true statement?

No Siri on 4G Footnote 2 of
Apple - iOS 6 - iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch get 200+ new features.
    says:
Siri is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad (3rd generation), and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access.

  • How to transfer the music from an Ipod touch to another one

How can I transfer the music from an Ipod touch to another one

Assuming you synced the contents to the first iPod Touch, you just plug the second iPod Touch into the same instance of iTunes and select to sync the music.  If your original iTunes library is on a hard drive which has failed, then restore that from your backup and follow the above procedures.

  • My computer no longer recognizes my iPod Touch. And the iPod Touch does not recognize that it is connected to a computer.

My computer no longer recognizes my iPod Touch. And the iPod Touch does not recognize that it is connected to a computer.  It has worked great for many days until today.
I’ve tried two different Apple cables.
I’ve tried different USB ports on the computer.
I have rebooted both the Mac and the iPod.
I’ve wiggled the cables and checked for dust in the connectors.
The iPod charges using this same cable connected to wall wart.  That’s a good sign.
Both the Mac and iPod seem to work fine separate from each other.  They just won’t talk anymore.
    Mac mini
    1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo
    OS 10.4.11
    iTunes 9.2.1
    iPod Touch 32GB, version 3.1.3 (7E18), model PB533LL

I found this possible solution on another support thread, so I tried it.
    turn off iPod
hold Sleep and Home buttons to start it.
When Apple appears, let go of Sleep button, but keep holding Home button.
When screen goes blank, let go of Home button.
Connect cable and check iTunes to see if it has conencted.
This did not work for me.
I then turned off the iPod, restarted the Mac, and restarted the iPod normally.
I connected them with the cable, and it works like normal.  :-)

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:

    - Then try on another computer
    - Try when connected to another network

  • Is it possible to copy an ipod touch to another ipod touch

My daughter's ipod touch (16gb) has broken - only plays out from one channel and can't be repaired. I have given her my ipod and wiped off the music from it. But is there an easy way to get the music, apps and videos on her ipod onto my ipod - or do I have to do this manually? I have no idea where half the stuff is - but presumably it is on my main computer. Ideally I would like to re-designate my ipod as her ipod and then let the computer transfer what was on her ipod onto the new one. Is this possible?

I have no idea where half the stuff is - but presumably it is on my main computer.
I presume it's in iTunes. iTunes is the only way to load content on an iPod touch unless your daughter purchased something from the iTunes Store directly from her iPod. So unless it was removed from iTunes after the content was copied to the iPod, the content should all be there. If you have multiple user accounts in Mac OS X, the content may be in the iTunes library in your daughter's user account, if she has her own account on your computer.
Ideally I would like to re-designate my ipod as her ipod and then let the computer transfer what was on her ipod onto the new one. Is this possible?
Not as such, no. You cannot copy directly from one iPod to another. But when you connect a new iPod to your computer, it will sync with iTunes just as the original one did. Presuming that iTunes has all the content, it will then put it all on the new iPod.
    Regards.
