We recently did patching on our R12 system. The system is online, however the concurrent managers are not working due to the APPS_NPCP listener not starting. When attempting to start FNDFS this is the error we get. This was a working system prior to applying the patches. I can provide a list of patches if needed. There were just under 30 of them I believe. The majority of them were in doc # 437878.1

Nothing really should have changed in the context file or in how the tnsnames.ora is generated, looking at the file it appears correct. What else can I check as to why this won't start anymore?

Where the patches applied to the correct ORACLE_HOME?
Have you verified the contents of listener.ora and tnsnames.ora file under $TNS_ADMIN directory? Running AutoConfig should usually fix those files (assuming it completes successfully and you have proper entry in the /etc/hosts file and your FND_NODES table entries are correct).
How to get a clean Autoconfig Environment ? (Doc ID 391406.1)
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Listener not starting on server reboot

for securing listener I have done the following steps:
Created a separate account and group at OS level and brought listener.ora, lsnrctl and related files/directories under this account and group.
I have secured listener by setting password (change_password,save_config followed by reload) on Oracle 8.1.7 running on HP Unix 11.11. while giving save_config the listener.ora is automatically brought under its original user and group. But I manually change it back to the account and group I created.
On server reboot listener does not start automatically.
    Please help

  • RHEL 3  - RAC - Firewire - Listener Not Starting

    Hi,
I almost got thru the howto install guide on the Firewire RAC server install, but hit a snag. During the TNSListener configuration, I see both server - run the config just like the instructions say, but it barks back that permissions are denied and cannot start the listener which maybe already started. I then try manually starting the listener using the lsnrctl start command - but the bloody thing still won't start.
Any ideas - I'm about to scrap the install and start over since I was planning on doing that anyway......

I also try a startup of the nodeapps using srvctl - here's the results I get.

    Hi Richard,
why would you set the ORACLE_HOME variable in your OS environment anyway?
If you want to switch between different Oracle Homes you might want to look at the "Oracle Locator Express" from DbMotiveTools:
    http://daust.blogspot.com/2006/03/xe-oracle-home-selector.html
Really helpful, especially if you have multiple Oracle environments on your box.
    Regards,
    ~Dietmar.

I have re-created the listener and net configuration but still no improvement.
    Any advice from you please?
    Regards

do you any other version of oracle installed in your system...
the conflict will be beause of that...
u need to set environment variable for oracle_home as your 10g database... then restart the system...
    then set oracle_sid
    it should work

  • Urgent! http listener not started with services

    Hi,
I installed oracle 9i on my win2k, and it runs fine when I started manually with the ${ORA_HOME}\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\startinst.bat.
I then try to registrate it as services with this command: rwserver -install rep_mypcname autostart=yes
It registrated successfully and I save it is started automatically, I also saw an icon (smart agent) on my right hand bottom taskbar.
But when I tested it via http://localhost:8888/reports/
It can't find the server, and obviously no http listener is up.
All my config are default, here is my rwservlet.properties:
    SERVER_IN_PROCESS=YES
Also there is no log files generated in ${ORA_HOME}\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\log\ when it is started as service, but if it is started from command line by using "startinst.bat", some log files are generated.
    Am I missing some steps?
    Thanks.
    David

    David,
Script startinst.bat starts the OC4J instance, not the Reports Server. When you send request to http://<server>:<port>/reports/rwservlet, it will startup an in-process Reports Server if it has not been started.
    The command you run:
    rwserver -install rep_mypcname autostart=yes
only install Reports Server as a service. It has nothing to do with OC4J instance, which you will still need to startup yourself. That's why http server is not up.
The difference is that if the Reports Server is up, after you start up OC4J, the in-process server will no longer need to be started.

  • Oracle Listener not starting.

    Hi
I have installed NW2004s ABAP only on 2003 server with oraccle database. I have installed two instances with SID's DEV & PRD. I have one loop-back adapter and 2 Listeners(OraclePRD102TNSListener and OracleDEV102TNSListener). Initially both the listeners were working fine and now OraclePRD102TNSListener is not getting started and when I try to start it through services.msc, it is throwing the below pop-up
Listener service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do,
for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service.
I didn't changed any ip address nor any setting. Both the *.ora files are looking good and nothing is abnormal.
    Looking forward your suggestions.
