Literal value roblem in and E-mail htmldb
Hi,
Does anyone know how to display the value of a variable instead of the literal in the body of an-email? The problem I am having is the following variable: :P2_Issue_id
Pasted below is my code:
DECLARE
intPERSONID NUMBER(7,0);
strperson varchar2(100);
strEMAILBODY VARCHAR2(1000);
strEMAILSUBJ VARCHAR2(100);
strEMAILTO VARCHAR2(100);
BEGIN
SELECT DEVLOPER_EMAIL INTO strEMAILTO FROM LU_table WHERE DEVELOPER_ID = :P2_XASSINGNEE;
strEMAILBODY := 'Hello,
You have been assigned issue number :P2_Issue_id. Please log on to the HDTT system to review the task and input your selections where applicable.
You can access Help Desk Tracking Tool by following this link: https://some server name/f?p=101;
strEMAILSUBJ := 'HDTT has assigned an issue to you.';
HTMLDB_MAIL.SEND(P_TO=>strEMAILTO, P_FROM=>'someaddress@', P_BODY=>strEMAILBODY, P_SUBJ=>strEMAILSUBJ);
HTMLDB_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE(' ');
EXCEPTION WHEN no_data_found THEN
strEMAILTO := null;
END;
Wally - You need to do this: strEMAILBODY := 'Hello, ...issue number'|| :P2_Issue_id ||'. Please...';
You also need a closing quote at the end of the assignment statement.

How to create job to run daily based on form values entered and send mail.
Hi,
In DB we have 3 columns: creation_date, name, approved_or_not. Default for approved_or_not is 'No'.
In the application form page suppose I fill in sysdate for creation_date and leave default for approved_or_not and click [create] button.
Now a job should run everyday and check for where (approved_or_not='No' & creation_date = 'sysdate - 1') and send mail to the person in 'name' field mentioning: 'Approval pending. click on link <some_link> for details on approval'.
Could anyone give me pointers to example on such job? (Working on APEX 3.0)
Thanks,

In mail, what is difference between deleted and discarded mail
In settings, mail, what is difference between deleted mail and discarded mail? My google account on iPad does not remove mail that I have deleted from account using other devices. My other devices and google accounts don't have this issue. I've checked settings for account and can not isolate the cause. I'm considering deleting account from iPad and then adding it back in to see if that removes the 1000+ emails that have accumulated. I don't usually use iPad for email which is why they are mostly unread on iPad.
this might help to understand
Collection Classes
Often we have to deal with a set or group of objects, or values. Collection Classes are important structures that have a number of methods that allow objects to be added, retrieved, or removed from such collections.
Objects can be grouped in a collection like sets, lists, stacks, or queues.
A set is an unordered collection of elements, from which any item may be removed.
A list is an ordered collection of elements, from which any item may be removed.
A stack is a restrictive form of list that obeys a last-in-first-out (LIFO) rule.
e.g. a stack of plates stored after being washed, then used again.
A queue is also a restrictive form of list that obeys a first-in-first-out (FIFO) rule.
e.g. a queue at a bus-stop, where the first bus to join the queue is the first one to leave.
An important Java Collection class is the Vector class:
java.util.Vector
This vector class is a simple list of objects, which can be referenced by an index starting from 0 (similar to arrays). The components of a vector must be objects.
i.e. Vector: object0 object1 object2lastObject .. spare
capacity ( size - 1)
So, a vector can grow as more objects are added. The size of a vector is how many objects are in the vector. The capacity is how many objects can be stored in the vector before it needs to expand again. When it needs to expand it normally doubles its capacity. The default capacity is 10.
e.g. Vector v1; // declare v1 as a Vector object
v1 = new Vector(); // create a Vector instance -
This has to be the most vexing problem I've ever experienced with Mail. I removed the envelope index file and allowed mail ro rebuild the index but I still get an immediate crash and the following message! I sure hope someone can help with this....

Tried to find the com.apple.mail.plist file, but I connot find any such file in the Preferences folder.
Any suggestions to help me out of this? -
When trying to send messages in linkedin, firefox takes me back to the log in screen without sending the message. On the error console it shows the error; error in parsing value for "background" and error in parsing value for "filter". What is causing this?
Pages does not support the Apple font used for color emoji, so that behavior is normal.
With what app are you reading the yahoo mail? There is really no guarantee than any other email service will show the special Apple font involved.
You should have no problem putting emoji directly into Mail or Text edit via drag drop from the Character Viewer as shown below.
You should also be able to upload graphics here easily by clicking on the camera icon. My email is tom at bluesky dot org. -

Setting Up Mailserver to received and Send Mail for external Network
I have a G5 currenty running 10.3.9 Server with Mail services run and working fine, we are upgrading to 10.4 Server and would like our Sales Reps the ability to send and Receive mail from outside the office. How do I configure my server, Router, ISP and/or Mail clients to do this??? we are currently able to recieve mail from outside just not send.
I cannot find the Line #submission inet n - n -- smtpd in the Main.CF file...here is what I get when I open it
# Global Postfix configuration file. This file lists only a subset
# of all 250+ parameters. See the sample-xxx.cf files for a full list.
# The general format is lines with parameter = value pairs. Lines
# that begin with whitespace continue the previous line. A value can
# contain references to other $names or ${name}s.
# NOTE - CHANGE NO MORE THAN 2-3 PARAMETERS AT A TIME, AND TEST IF
# POSTFIX STILL WORKS AFTER EVERY CHANGE.
# SOFT BOUNCE
# The soft_bounce parameter provides a limited safety net for
# testing. When soft_bounce is enabled, mail will remain queued that
# would otherwise bounce. This parameter disables locally-generated
# bounces, and prevents the SMTP server from rejecting mail permanently
# (by changing 5xx replies into 4xx replies). However, soft_bounce
# is no cure for address rewriting mistakes or mail routing mistakes.

Managing literal values in PL/SQL
Running on Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning and OLAP options JServer Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production
We need to manipulate some specific values at runtime, and decided on storing these in a table. Our PL/SQL code retrieves these values to use in various queries etc... such as limit a cursor to a certain number of rows, or change some constant in a package etc.
I've looked into Steven Feuerstein's best practices site with regards to managing "magic values" in PL/SQL. We've implemented a solution as per his column: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=2853:4:271093498565934::NO::P4_QA_ID:16382
Basically a table holder our "literal" value data, with a packaged function to retrieve a given value by its name from another PL/SQL package.
Now to avoid multiple calls to literal value get functions, I create a private global variable in the package body, and retrieve the given literal value into it. I then re-use this global variable throughout the pacakge body.
For instance:
g_bulk_mailer_email VARCHAR2 (255)
:= pkg_application_constant.varchar2_value ('BULK_MAILER_EMAIL_ADDRESS');The problem I'm facing is, when I change the literal value BULK_MAILER_EMAIL_ADDRESS, in the database table, it doesn't apply to my global variable g_bulk_mailer_email in my package body. I assume because the package is already initialized and pinned in the UGA?
Is this a case for the SERIALLY_REUSABLE pragma, or bad implementation/design on my part?
The one alternative I thought of is to simply not use the global variable, and simply make multiple local calls where needed in my package subprograms, so it always gets the latest values from the literal value table.
p.s. Once we migrate to 11g, I plan on using the result function cache...
Thanks for any tips/advice

The problem I'm facing is, when I change the literal value BULK_MAILER_EMAIL_ADDRESS, in the database table, it doesn't apply to my global variable g_bulk_mailer_email in my package body. I assume because the package is already initialized and pinned in the UGA?Highly likely so. One way can be to reinitilize the package variable. But this works only if you change the database value inside the same session. Other sessions would not be effected.
There should be others ways to
Flushing the shared pool would probably work, but should not be done because it harms the overall performance of your system more than it helps. THere could be a way to invalidate the package. But then the next access from each session would get an error (invalid package state) and the second access to it would reload all.
The one alternative I thought of is to simply not use the global variable, and simply make multiple local calls where needed in my package subprograms, so it always gets the latest values from the literal value table.It is a tradeoff between performance and accuracy. But if the literal value table is pinned to the SGA, then oracle will take care of optimizing the access to it. This doesn't mean that you approach is badly designed. Just that there are different things to consider. -
Hi,
I was just wondering if there is a pl/sql code that would do the following:
1. Zip a file (originally generated from DB query written to Unix OS using UTL_FILE package).
2. Place a password on the file.
3. Send the file as an attachment in mail.
Thanks in advance.For compression, you can use UTL_COMPRESS package.
[oracle@db11ghost ~]$ cat compress_data.txt
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
cccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
[oracle@db11ghost ~]$
Below is example how to load file to table as compressed blob. Later you can save this blob to file (pls, search google there are many examples how to do it) and send mail as attach.
SQL> create directory MYDIR as '/home/oracle/';
Directory created.
declare
ablob blob;
abfile bfile := bfilename('MYDIR', 'compress_data.txt');
amount integer;
asize integer;
a_compressed_blob blob;
q integer := 1; ---- The level of compression from 1-9
cursor blob_cur is select * from myt1;
begin
insert into myt1 values (1, empty_blob());
select y into ablob from myt1 where x = 1;
dbms_lob.fileopen(abfile);
asize := dbms_lob.getlength(abfile);
dbms_output.put_line('Size of input file: ' || asize);
-- load the file (txt file) into the blob column and look at the size
dbms_lob.loadfromfile(ablob, abfile, asize);
asize := dbms_lob.getlength(ablob);
dbms_output.put_line('Size of blob after loading fromfile: ' || asize);
-- compress the blob
a_compressed_blob := utl_compress.lz_compress(ablob, q);
-- insert the compressed blob into the table in another row
insert into myt1 values (2, a_compressed_blob);
-- compare the sizes of the blob contents that are in the table now
dbms_output.put_line('Sizes are -->');
for c1_rec in blob_cur
loop
asize := dbms_lob.getlength(c1_rec.y);
dbms_output.put_line(asize);
end loop;
end;
Size of input file: 87
Size of blob after loading fromfile: 87

Using literal values into AD Trusted Reconciliation
Hello experts,
I'm working on a AD trusted reconciliation and, during the user creation, I cant reconcile from AD the mandatory values "Organization" and "User Type" (they don't exist into my AD).
I thought to create some literary values ("End-User"/"Xellerate User"), but I don't find any way to insert them as literal values: any ideas?
ThanksYou can set the values for those fields in your AD User Trusted Recon Scheduler.

Default values for Insert and Update
What is the best way to default the current sysdate for a date column on a table when doing an insert or update through a form? And related to this, what is the best way to default the current user (APP_USER) for a varchar2 column when doing an insert or update through a form?
For these columns, I want to display them on a report, but they should be hidden on the form because I would like to have the app default the values to sysdate and APP_USER. However, when I have tried to use the table default values in "user interface defaults" and using either :APP_USER or &APP_USER or SYSDATE, it only shows this literal value on the form (item is not hidden while I debug this). It does not show the actual value I'd want, such as "user1". Does this make sense?
Thanks for your help.

Problem with exchange 2007 SP3 and mac mail app loading mails
Hi,
since a few days i am having a problem with mac's (using either the included mail app or outlooc 2011 for mac) syncing mails with my exchange server. both, mail and outlook) connect successfully to my excahnge 2007 sp3 rollup 14 server, but when
they start syncing mail they dont load any mails or only load the headers and keep saying loading (of body)
when i open the https://server/EWS/Exchange.asmx on the browser it asks for the user/pwd and lets me open the xml once, the next time it crashes.
in the eventlog i am getting the error that: a process for app-pool MSExchangeServicesAppPool couldnt respond to a ping. the event id is 5010.
all my microsoft outlook accounts, outlook web acces and the mail on mobile devices (iphone and android) work fine.
does anyone have an idea what could be the issue for this strange behavior?
thanks,
chrisHi,
According to the error message, "a process for app-pool MSExchangeServicesAppPool couldnt respond to a ping. the event id is 5010", I find a related article for your reference:
Event ID 5010 — IIS Application Pool Availability
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc734991(v=WS.10).aspx
Please follow the article to check whether application pool has been started.
Additionally, I notice that you said "all my microsoft outlook accounts, outlook web acces and the mail on mobile devices (iphone and android) work fine.", please run following command to check whether parameter "EwsAllowMacOutlook"
value is True:
Get-CasMailbox | FL
If the parameter "EwsAllowMacOutlook" value is False, please set it to True via following command:
Set-CasMailbox -Identity FQDN -EwsAllowMacOutlook $True
If still not work, please contact MAC Support for help. For your convenience:

Send confirmations by both Fax and e-mail
Hi , all
my client has requirement in address data section of the customer master record, it has a field for Standard Communication Method.Fax and e-mail are among the choices.
would like to have the option to choose "Both" in order to send confirmations by both Fax and e-mail to the same customer.
Can we add the value "Both" to the list of possible options for Standard Communication method?
How can we allow both forms ot communication to be sent automatically for the same customer?
can any one help me how to configure this scenario and what are all the configuration i do to send Both in order to send confirmations by both Fax and e-mail
Thanks
RakeshDear Rajesh,
U can configure this with the help of "output determination" utility:
1 of the paths being: SPRO-> IMG-> Basic Functions-> Output Control-> Output Determination-> Output Determination using Condition Technique- >Output Determination for Sales Documents.
There u can configure the thing as per ur reqmnt. using O/P type n O/P condition records (VV11).
If ur query is answered then plz do close the thread.

"Missing parameter values." -- Export and Print only...
I have a web application and I am using CrystalReportViewer. I am passing several parameters to Crystal using:
report.SetParameterValue(field.Name, Session[field.Name]);
I have session variables which will hold parameters needed to pass into the report. The session variables are populated from controls on my webpage after an onclick event. This even not only populates session, but also passes parameters to the report with the following code:
ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument();
Session["MapPathName"] = "./Reporting/CaseStudy.rpt";
report.FileName = Server.MapPath(Session["MapPathName"].ToString());
ParameterFields fields = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterFields();
fields = report.ParameterFields;
foreach (ParameterField field in fields)
report.SetParameterValue(field.Name, Session[field.Name]);
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = report;
This works great for reporting and is very extensible. However, when clicking on the "Print" or "Export" buttons on the toolbar I get "Missing parameter values." I attempted to export manually in code using the .ExportToStream function but I still get the error, "Missing parameter values."
I received this error also in Refresh, Search, and Navigate functions. This was corrected by calling a function that supplies the above code block to these functions. However, I do not see any events for controlling the Print nor the Export events.
QUESTION: How can I print or export a report when passing parameters using CrystalReportViewer? Thanks in advance!
P.S. - Crystal Reports XI Release 2
Edited by: KyleSavant on Jun 18, 2009 5:42 PMThere are no Export or Print events accessible for the viewer
Since it sounds like you are creating the reportdocument object in your click event, the settings on this object become out of scope on successive postbacks executed by other events.
to get around this without major changes, you can place your "report" object in session in this event and retrieve it from session on successive postbacks. This should solve your problems around navigation, printing and exporting. What you will need to do is check if the session object exists (usually in page_load or page_initialze) and if so, retrieve it from session and bind it to the viewer's reportsource. If the session object does not exist, then do nothing (ie you have not clicked your button yet that retrieves the parameter values from session and loads the report). Also, in your click event you can check if the report session object exists and if so, remove it so that it can be re-created with your new parameter values (ie i'm assuming the only time you want to set parameter values is in this event).

How to get the table of value field? and can we expand the technical limits
Dear
I have created value field in COPA with KEA6. And now, I need the table which the value fields are saved. Yet, I have tried a lot to find it and get failure? Can any guy help me? Please tell me how to get the table of a value field.
And another question is that, can we extend the technical limits for the number of value field for ECC6.0?
We have a note for R.4.x Please see below:
OSS note 160892
You can display the length of a data record using Transaction KEA0 ('Maintain Operating Concern'). After you have navigated to the 'Characteristics Screen' or to the 'Value field Screen' choose menu path 'Extras -> Technical Limits'.
The maximum displayed here under 'Length in bytes on the DB' is the maximum length permitted by the Dictionary. The reserve required for the release upgrade must be subtracted from this value.
To increase the allowed number of the value fields, increase the value that is assigned to field ikcge-bas_max_cnt (FORM init_ikcge_ke USING fm_subrc, approx. line 165) in Include FKCGNF20. It specifies the number of the possible value fields. The corresponding part of the source code is attached to the note as a correction.
