LiveCycle 8.0 Digital Signature shows Orange Flag ONLY IF Blank Form Has Submit or Email Button

My subject line says it all. After a lot of experimenting, including reinstalling Adobe Designer Standard 8.0, I have found that, in Adobe LiveCycle 8.0.1291.1.339988, my drag-and-dropped Document Signature Field will include a clickable orange flag ONLY IF the blank form I started with includes an E-mail button or Submit button. Strange but true. If you then delete these buttons, the orange clickable flag still appears fine.
Try it...
In Adobe Designer Standard 8.0 LiveCycle:
1. File > New.
2. Select Use a blank form, Next.
3. Next.
4. In Form Return Setup dialog box, DEselect Add an Email button and DEselect Add a print button (so that both are NOT checkmarked).
5. Click Finish.
6. Drag a Document Signature Field to the blank page.
7. Click PDF Review tab. Note that no orange clickable flag appears for the user then to be able to use for entering a digital signature.
Close the page.
Try a variation now that will work (yielding an orange clickable flag):
1. File > New.
2. Select Use a blank form, Next.
3. Next.
4. In Form Return Setup dialog box, SELECT either the Add an Email button OR the Add a print button (so that either IS checkmarked).
5. Click Finish.
6. Drag a Document Signature Field to the blank page.
7. Click PDF Review tab. Note that an orange clickable flag DOES appear this time for the user then to be able to use for entering a digital signature.
8. For further test, click the Design View tab and now DELETE the displayed button.
9. Click PDF Review. The flag is still there.
BOTTOM LINE: It at least looks like it's not just "Distribute forms" that requires that you have a button at Blank Form creation time. Also "Digital Signature" functionality requires that you display a button at Blank Form creation time -- which you can then delete.
A bug? Or do I have some major concept wrong -- maybe I'm mis-interpreting the whole Digital Signature concept and process?

Is this in the wrong forum?  The problem I am having is with Acrobat's Distribution feature.

  • Livecycle Designer 8 - Is it possible to have button to clear fields after user has clicked submit by email button so user can reuse form to send another response with different answers?

Users will use form to fill in stats for enquiries so they want to keep form open, complete a form, click button to submit by email, then click another button to clear form, form now ready to accept form's responses.  They dont' want to keep opening form each time form needs to be completed.

    Hi,
Thanks for your response, not sure what you mean by a loop.  I put together
a draft form to show staff in our Knowledge Centre the sort of thing
    Livecycle Designer can do.
(See attached file: Library  Request  Form_pub_0001.pdf)
They are currently writing out on form and manually putting into excel to
    keep stats on the requests.
Due to current Global Financial Crisis my section does not want to spend
extra money at the moment seeking assistance from our tech heads.  So we
are looking for least work no expense option for keeping stats.  I am a PA
who just happens to have Livecycle program on my computer.
We use Lotus Notes so I thought the staff could save copy of Library
request form in the stationery folder.  The staff using the form want to be
    able to do the following:
    1. open the Library request form at the beginning of the day;
    2. when a request comes in, complete the form and click on Send by email
    button
    3. click on a Clear Data button to clear all data from all fields so the
form is open ready for when the next request comes in.
Staff are time poor and, as this is only one of their numerous duties, they
don't want to keep going to a location and opening a file which can be very
    slow on some days
Each day form may be filled out by approximately 15 staff who may receive
    anything from 0 - 4 requests a day.
I am not a tech head so script writing is a deep, dark mystery.  Can you
help using the form above as an example for achieving step 3 above.

  • Livecycle & Reader 8, digital signatures problem

    Hello,
I created a pdf document including digital signature field in livecycle. When saving and opening the document in acrobat 8 pro signing works fine, i.e. I click the signing field and it prompts for digital signature ID & password.
But, when I click the field in Reader 8 (not pro version), nothing happens. It doesn't prompt for digital signature ID.
I clearly set the version limit in livecycle to be reader 7 and upwards (not pro versions).

you need to "enable usage rights in Adobe Reader.." using Acrobat 8 before Reader can sign.

  • Digital Signature shows as a large X, not the actual signature

I have some documents digitally signed in Reader (Windows) by someone else.  When I got those documents back, and opened the documents in Reader (Mac) the signatures show as a large X inside a rectangular box, instead of showing the person's signature.  Since both parties are using Reader, I am not sure why I would not be able to see the signature.  Ideas?
    Thanks

I had this and fixed it.
I had upgraded to Mountain Lion and my signatures in Mail were fine. But then about a week later, I got a new computer and used Migration Assistant to copy my stuff to the new machine. Upon opening Mail, I had all the correct Signature information in the Preferences>Signatures window, but nothing worked.
After lots of hunting, I found the Signature Folder. It's in:
    Yourusername>Library>Mail>V2>MailData>Signatures
Looking at my previous setup (which works) I saw in that folder two types of files: .webarchive and .siganture
Looking in my new machine's Signature folder, I saw only the .webarchive folders, not the .signature folders
Since this was literally a clone of my previous setup to a new machine, here's what I did:
    1. Quit Mail
    2. In Problem machine, go to
    Yourusername>Library>Mail>V2>MailData>Signatures
    3. Move the Signatures folder someplace safe, but out of the MailData folder
    4. Get the Signatures Folder from the working install (like a backup) and copy it to the MailData folder on the problematic machine
    5. Start Mail on the problem machine
This worked for me. I don't know why Migration Assistant didn't copy the full signature folder, but this fixed it. It worked perfectly partly because I had just backed up with Carbon Copy Cloner and the very next day set up the new machine. I don't know where Lion or earlier versions of mail stored signatures, but the absence of the .signature filetype seems to be the problem.
    Hope this helps

  • Digital signatures won't print in a PDF form emailed to me.  PLEASE HELP!

I've been trying to print some documents emailed to me in PDF format.  On my monitor, the entire document shows up fine, INCLUDING THE SIGNATURES, however when I print them, the form is printed WITHOUT the VERY NECESSARY signatures!  PLEASE help!  I've been trying to resolve this for 2 1/2 days with a great deal of help from my vetrinarian and Global Vet Link!

When I select Print Comments and Markups, it still doesn't print.  The signatures were created using the Pencil tool.  Not sure why its not printing.

  • How to have digital signature in a Sharepoint 2013 custom list form created in InfoPath 2013?

I have a requirement that they want a form in SP13 that would allow Mobile mode.  Supervisor then can sign off the form in mobile mode.  Because Document Library form doesn't have Mobile client support so I decided to create this as a custom List
form.  Now I'm finding out that when I right click on the section on the form to enable e-signature, there is no such option.   I appreciate it if someone can give me some suggestion on how to have a form that has both Mobile mode and e-signature
    support in SP13.
I also noticed that the people picker doesn't work in Mobile mode.  Is that so or is there something-else I need to configure?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create an InfoPath form which supports Mobile mode and e-signature in SharePoint 2013.
Per my knowledge, the browser-based forms cannot support signature in Mobile device.
Here are some other products which are not free can achieve this goal for you to take a look:

  • Issues with LiveCycle ES4 - "Distribute Form" greyed out and "email button" not functioning

    Bought this software on 8/1/13.
Designed my first form, "saved to repository" and proceeded to test. The email function for whatever reason does not work. Went back and examined the properties to the button, I have it set up correctly. In fact the XMS format works perfect, but I want the form to come via PDF when emailed. This feature is not coming through on email.
I am not sure if the above two issues are related however I did read that in the stand-alone software, the "distribute form" is not offerred which I wonder if this the reason it is greyed out.
Can anyone help me work through the "email button" issue?

If the PDF submits to a server-side script URL it can bypass client-side email software.
Try the online PDF submission examples and see if it works for you in Mozilla FireFox:
    http://www.pdfemail.net/examples/
You should also make sure the browser is using the Adobe Reader plugin as the default PDF reader.

  • Digital signatures for use in consenting research participants

Hi.  I need some help implementing digital signatures into a consent document.  I work as a research assistant at a university and in our line of research, we have participants from multiple regions of the country.  One of the most important parts of staying in compliance with various regulations is that all research participants are presented with information about the study, and they must sign a document to indicate that they understand the risks/benefits involved.
We want to implement digital signatures to make this process easier for ourselves and the research participants who live across the country.  However, there seem to be some technical hurdles in using signatures.  First, we want to make sure that participants who only have Adobe Reader are also able to sign (my understanding is that they should be able to).  Some participants may not be very computer savvy, so we need the process to be somewhat dummy-proof.  Participants must fill in their printed name and date, so I need for them to have authority to change some information, but I don't want them to have the authority to change the document itself or the participant ID numbers which I have to fill in once I get the form back.
I have created a fillable form in Adobe LiveCycle and added 2 signature form fields, one for the participant, and one for myself.  I plan on distributing the form so that I can have a dataset file for all of the returned consents.
Essentially the process should work like this:
I send a participant the form, they fill out the fields for their printed name, date, and provide their digital signature and use the submit by email button to return the form to me.
I receive the form, add their participant ID number, and provide my digital signature.
Save the file in our dataset file which is associated with the returned consent forms.
The thing I'm concerned about is their digital signature being invalidated once I insert the ID numbers and add my own digital signature.
Thanks for any help you could provide.

We have a document that needs to be signed by more than one individual -- and in our process we are using the Topacz signature pad to get the signature.  It's similar to the one you sign at the grocery store, drug store, etc.  In order to NOT have the first signature invalidated, we were told to edit the registry...and it works perfectly!
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AVAlert\cCheckbox]
    "iDigSigSaveAsCertified"=dword:00000001
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AVAlert\cCheckbox\cAnnots]
    "iReaderEnableSaveWarn"=dword:00000001
Obviously if you are using a different version of Acrobat, you'll have to change the key accordingly.
Hopefully this will work with your process.
    Good luck!!

  • Adobe Acrobat - Digital Signatures Security

    Hi,
The business I am working for is making a push for online fill in forms for simplicity and less paperwork. At the moment they are using word docs with fill in sections that are terrible to deal with and still require you to print them out to sign it.
I have developed a PDF fill in form using Adobe LiveCycle that uses digital signatures. My only worry is how the digital signatures are created. It seems it is fairly easy to create a digital signature for someone else and use it without it being authenticated.
I have done some reading around and it seems to suggest that you are able to intergrate windows user accounts with adobe security somehow, but I am unable to find how to do this. I also don't have access to any of the windows security certificates so I will need to pass on information to the external IT company that manages it for them to do.
So, more specific question: How do I intergrate Adobe Acrobat signatures/security with windows user accounts so that only a specific list of users are able to sign forms.
Or if there is a better way of doing this let me know.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You don't need to do anything. If the user has loaded their digital ID into the Windows Certificate Store (or the Mac Keychain) then Acrobat (and when I say Acrobat I mean both Acrobat & Reader) will pick up the digital ID and make it available at signing time in the Sign Document dialog, "Sign as" drop-down menu.

  • Verification of Digital Signatures

    Hi...
I would like to know, how does a process from a LiveCycle authenticates the Digital signatures?
I need the clarification on the steps followed. I mean, how does the process interacts with Trust Store and what it looks up there. Will it check for the CA and authenticate? and if the issuing CA is not in Trust Store how will it communicate further??
Please let me know your views on this or share some links from where I can get the clearity...

  • Transfer attachments and Digital Signatures, from a PDF, to Interactive Form

    Hi,
I am developing an an application in WebDynpro Java.
I have a requirement that a user A creates a new interactive form & fills some of the details, & then saves the form.
User B then fetches the form & fills the remaining details.
User A can add attachments & digitally sign the form(using digital signatures).
When user A  saves the form, the application saves it in the JDT. The application fetches the pdf from the JDT & shows it to the user B.
The problem is that, when the form is displayed to user B, i need to pass a variable(using context nodes) to the form, so that some of the properties(visibility,read-only,etc) of the UI elements(of the form) changes, depending on the variables' value.
For this purpose, i need to use the Form for user B in ""UpdateDataInPdf" mode.
But if i do this, then all the attachments, signatures saved in the pdf form(by user A), do not get transfered to the Interactive Form of User B!!
How do i overcome this problem??
    I am using NW7.0 SP13.; Designer7.1, xACF is installed.

    Hi everyone,
I solved this issue using the transferPDFDataIntoContext of the WDInteractiveFormHelper class.
The AIF mode must be set to usePdf.
I hope it will be useful.

  • How to create table and digital signature ?

    Hello,
I would like to ask two questions regarding SAP interactive forms by adobe.
    1st question:
How to create table in interactive form?
Table that i can add rows and column and will show it in the form.
Example the rows and columns that i want:

    2nd question:
How to create digital signature ?
I'm creating a adobe forms which need employee to sign on the form. I use signature field at my form. However, i don't know how to create a new signature and insert in the signature field.
Can any one provide the answer with step by step guide?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Pradeepa,
you said you have your digital signature in
BMP format? That means Bitmap and would mean you are actually talking about a picture! THIS IS NOT A DIGITAL SIGNATURE!
A digital signature is a cryptographic key (aka public key cryptography) that is used to digitally sign a document, or at least a hash value derived from the document. Digitally signing means, applying the key in a well defined way (this is the algorithm used) to the document or hash value. You do this with your private key and the receiver of the document can then use your public key (which you can distribute in any way you want, even unsecure) to unencrypt the hash value. If this succeeds the receiver knows that the document was signed by you.
This is because both keys are mathematically related in such a way, that what one key encrypted can only be decrypted by the corresponding other key and by no other key. You even can´t decrypt a document with the same key it was encrypted with, this is the difference to symmetric encryption - please have a look at help.sap.com and search for digital signatures.
The named formats (afs, pfx and p12) are ways of coding the key, together with information about your person, such as email address and information about validity of the key into a
certificate. This type of certificate is then called a x.509 certificate and is the same you might have seen when connecting to a secure webserver such as the one of your bank website.
Signing a form with such a certificate provides for mathematically and therefore business related proove of a users identity.
In case you are really using a bitmap, this cannot work and would not serve you any good.
Ask yourself this question: I want to make sure that the form was signed by a specific person. How can I make sure that the signing can only be done by the person pretending to have done so?
A bitmap contains a picture, probably of the persons handwritten signature. How can I make sure that this picture was NOT recreated in MS Paint or Photoshop by someone else?
    The answer is:
you can't! Therefore this way of prooving identity is useless.
You need to provide your users with digital signatures, put these in the certificate cache of your IE.  If a user then clicks on the signing field, the private key is used to digitally sign the form - create a hash value of the form and encrypt it with the private key. After the form is send back to the server or you, you use the corresponding public key to decrypt the hash value and, as said above, if this succeeds, identity of the signer is proven.
THIS IS AN OVERSIMPLIFICATION! You might want to take a look at Adobe Reader Credentials.
    Regards,
       Christian
