Liveupgrade on Mixed FS - Solaris 10 update 6 to Solaris 10 update 8.

Hi Experts,
I need help from you .My requirement is, I need to upgrade my exisiting solaris 10 u6 to solaris 10 u8 from a mixed filesystem enviornment. My current enviornment details are below.
We are having UFS and ZFS filesystem in one of the solaris 10 u6 Box.OS is configured with UFS and User data is configured in ZFS ( /opt and /export/home ). while using lucreate command how can i include for the zfs filesystem.Below you can see we normaly used to use lucreate for UFS, here how can i use for ZFS filesystem.
*# lucreate -m /:/dev/dsk/c0t4d0s0:ufs -m /usr:/dev/dsk/c0t4d0s1:ufs \ -m /usr/opt:merged:ufs*
Here is my df -h output.You can see here UFS and ZFS file systems which i was talking above.
bash-3.00# df -h

How can use live upgrade on the mixed FS enviornment, can you please guide me with the commands.I saw lots of oracle doc, every where it says migration from UFS to ZFS ( root mirroring ).
Thanks
RK

Never mind.
It is a known bug documented on manual " [Solaris 10 10/08 Release Notes, Chapter 2 Solaris Runtime Issues|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-5245/chapter2-1000?a=view] " as shown below.
The solution is to apply vold patch [138130-01|http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-138130-01-1].
Solaris 10 10/08 DVD Media Might Not be Automatically Mounted by vold (6712352)
The Solaris 10 10/08 DVD does not mount by default during runtime. No error message is displayed.
Workaround: Perform the following steps:
   1. Become superuser.
   2. Disable vold:
      * On Solaris 10 Systems:
            # svcadm disable -t volfs
      * On Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 systems:
            /etc/init.d/volmgt stop
   3. Mount the media manually by using the # mount -F hsfs path to block device path to mount point command. For example:
      # mount -F hsfs /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s2 /mnt

    on the pictures you can see that i can choose only between "cd digital/ s/pdif-in" or "cd digital/auxiliary". there is no microphone to choose. i didnt have that problem with older drivers!
    have i installed a wrong audio card drivers or something?

  • Mixed linux-solaris-array possible?

    Hello,
    we want to swap our server from solaris to Linux. Now I try to build an array with primary centos and secondary solaris server for testing. If I use the centos for primary if get the "Can't contact the server" errormessage. If I use the solaris for primary my admin username was not accepted.
    Any idea?

    Centos is not a supported OS (even though it's based on RH).
    You can have mixed OSes in an array as long all the servers are the same version of SGD.
    Are you using DNS and fqdn for you servers? what does
    $ tarantella status --verbose
    show for each?

  • Solaris 10 01/06  liveupgrade  from Solaris 8

    Hi all,
    I have to upgrade a few SUN V100 and V210 from Solaris 8 >>> 10 01/06 in the next time.
    Does someone know, if its possible to run liveupgrade therefore , and if such an update from 8 >>> 10 is possible at all?
    ... other ideas ?
    Thanks for a comment

    We are researching just such a thing now with Sun. If you have the partitions to devote to Solaris 10, then yes, Liveupgrade will work. I can't give details as we have not worked out the details but Sun has shown it too us.

  • Solaris 10, amd64, JVM crash at short time after startup

    Hi All,
    I have an application which allocate 10G of memory for his Heap, run on 4 dual core amd64 CPUs, 16G RAM machine and crash in 98% of the cases at short time after startup. This is a customer machine.
    I have a similar machine for tests with only 2 dual core amd64 CPU and 12G RAM and I don't experience any crashes running application with similar configuration, similar version of JDK and similar input data.
    I have tried with different GC algorithms, but we obtain crashes sonner or later. I rare cases when application manage to start seems that CMS offer the greatest performance.
    There is a bug in JVM? Knows anybody an workaround for this?

    I created a small test which somehow emulate the real application and I obtain the same results: on test machine run without any issues on live machine it crashes all the time.

    I've experienced the same crash problem for my application in a Sun Fire x4600 M2..
    My application which allocates 50G of memory for his Heap, runs on 8 quad core amd64 CPUs, 64G RAM machine and crash in 98% of the cases at short time after startup.
    If I run my application on a different machine, for example a Sun Fire 280R with 2 CPUs UltraSPARC-III+ 1.2Ghz 8MB, there are no crashes.
    I think the problem is related to the AMD 64 bits CPU architecture.
    I filed a bug to the Sun Bug DB with ID 1415527, but it hasn't been published yet.
    I cannot understand why, since it seems to be a problem common also to other users.
    Here's part of my last hs_err_pidXXX.log file:

    Here is the text from the download site from 10.3.3 that applies to 10.3.0 as well:
    Note: This table includes links to WebLogic Server installers that include 32-bit JVMs for the platform
    in question, and links to WebLogic Server generic installers that can be used on any supported platform.
    To use WebLogic Server with 64-bit JVM's on Linux and Solaris or to use WLS on other supported
    platforms, use the WebLogic Server generic installer listed under "Additional Platforms". The generic
    installers do not include a JVM/JDK. For instructions on using the generic installers, see this document.
    So regardless whether the OS is 64bit or not, you need to select the installer on whether you are running WebLogic Server in a 32bit JVM or a 64bit JVM. If you run in a 32bit JVM, you can use the 32bit binary installer for Solaris that has a .bin extension. If you are going to run a 64bit JVM, then you need to download the "generic" .jar installer and separately download the supported 64bit JDK and follow the instructions similar to this, but for 10.3.0.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14142/guimode.htm#BABGFAAF
    On edelivery.oracle.com, select Oracle Fusion Middleware, then Oracle® Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) Media Pack for Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
    32bit native Solaris installer for 10.3.0 is Part Number V13618-01
    64bit generic installer for 10.3.0 is Part Number V13672-01

    Appreciate any inputs / discussion / feedback / thoughts on this topic.
    Good day.

    I just wanted to throw in one more thought.  I have also seen that there is a restart=true parameter.  Maybe if we set this to true, and just issue the command to shut down the server in the script, the managed server will restart on its own.
    Would greatly appreciate any advice!

  • Smart playlists not updating live after 3.1.1 upgrade

    Same discussion started back in February about the 3.0 update (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9937797)
    I thought for sure live updating would work properly with such an update from 3.0 -> 3.1.1, but no luck! I guess it takes more than 7 months to fix this.
    As a refresher -- if you have a smart playlist that includes a "not played in the last xx days" condition, the old OS (2.2.1) would automatically remove a played song from the smart playlist on the iPod so your playlist is always valid. However, in 3.0 and 3.1.1, the iPod does not automatically recalculate the smart playlist and you have to sync with iTunes to get the song to be removed.

    I have discovered a workaround for this issue. As with most workarounds, it's not too pretty, but it gets you there.
    Knowing that live updating smart playlists that refer to other playlists won't properly update on the iPod, and taking advantage of the fact that iTunes 9 now allows for nested logic in smart playlists, we can make a complex nested logic smart playlist that live updates on the iPod as long as it doesn't refer to another playlist. In place of referring to another playlist, refer to some metadata instead. The cleanest metadata tag in my opinion is "Category." It is metadata that does not by default display in playlist view (you can enable it under the View menu), and is not visible when selecting Get Info on a track. You can use the excellent "Enter Category Text for Selected v1.1" script to enter Category tags, available at http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=entercategorytext . Just enter the name of the playlist the track is contained in for the Category tag.
    I'll give an example of how this works. Let's say you have a long playlist named "day" containing certain tracks you like to listen to when the sun is out. You want to create an intelligent and self-updating megamix playlist of tracks only from the "day" playlist that will play songs you haven't heard, as well as songs you've heard and have rated. As an added smartness, you want to hear the tracks you've rated higher more often than the tracks with a lower rating. You want this new "day mix" playlist to live update properly on your iPod touch.
    First you'll need to tag all your "day" playlist songs. Download and install the "Enter Category Text for Selected v1.1" script mentioned above. Select all the songs in the "day" playlist, run the script, and enter "day" for the Category.
    Now you can make the smart playlist. In iTunes 9, create a new Smart Playlist. Using the new nested logic in iTunes 9 smart playlists, select the following conditions:
    ) Match any of the following rules:
    ) all of the following rules:
    ) Category contains day
    ) Playcount is 0
    ) all of the following rules:
    ) Category contains day
    ) Rating is *
    ) Last Played is not in the last 6 months
    ) all of the following rules:
    ) Category contains day
    ) Rating is **
    ) Last Played is not in the last 5 months
    ) all of the following rules:
    ) Category contains day
    ) Rating is *
    ) Last Played is not in the last 4 months
    ) all of the following rules:
    ) Category contains day
    ) Rating is **
    ) Last Played is not in the last 3 months
    ) all of the following rules:
    ) Category contains day
    ) Rating is ***
    ) Last Played is not in the last 2 months
    ) Live updating
    You should find that the new "day mix" smart playlist properly live updates on your iPod touch.
    As with any workaround, there are troubling aspects. One is that you'll need to constantly update your metadata tag of choice (Category, in my example) each time you add new tracks to a source regular playlist on your iPod. I'm also unsure about overloading the metadata with a number of tags in the case where tracks co-exist on multiple playlists. Also be aware that smart playlists like this tend to hang the iPod for several minutes with the "Updating Library" screen, so be prepared to be patient.
    I hope this is of use to someone. Please post any streamlining suggestions for this workaround.

  • Update with join and group by

    Hello All,
    I'm trying to update several colums of a table from a inner join query.
    First a retrieve the rows afected and the values that I need for the update (I call this subquery ED_Query).
    It's important to note that this subquery has a group by and and having clause.
    My first attemp (using the query that work in SQL Server query) fails:
    SQL> update ED_Update

    Thanks for your answer. I tried to rewrite my question.

    I have 2 tables. I like to update one of them (ED_Update) with the data from the another one (ED_Query).
    This example is equivalent:
    create table ED_Query (id number,
         date01 date,
    number01 number)
    insert into ED_Query values (1, to_date('01/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 10);
    insert into ED_Query values (2, to_date('01/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 20);
    insert into ED_Query values (3, to_date('01/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 30);
    insert into ED_Query values (4, to_date('02/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 40);
    insert into ED_Query values (5, to_date('03/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 50);
    create table ED_Update (date01 date,
              numberMax number,
              numberSum number)
    insert into ED_Update values (to_date('01/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 0, 0);
    insert into ED_Update values (to_date('02/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 0, 0);
    insert into ED_Update values (to_date('03/01/2013','DD/MM/YYYY'), 0, 0);
    The next update query fails with ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.
    update ED_Update
    set ED_Update.date01 = ED_Query.date01,
         ED_Update.numberMax = ED_Query.numberMax,
         ED_Update.numberSum = ED_Query.numberSum
    inner join
         select date01, max (number01) as numberMax, sum(number01) as numberSum
         from ED_Query
         where date01 = TO_DATE('01/01/2013', 'DD/MM/YYYY')
         group by date01
    ) ED_Query
    on ED_Update.date01 = ED_Query.date01
    I think the problem is in the update clause because the next query work:
    select * from
    ED_Update
    inner join
         select date01, max (number01) as numberMax, sum(number01) as numberSum
         from ED_Query
         where date01 = TO_DATE('01/01/2013', 'DD/MM/YYYY')
         group by date01
    ) ED_Query
    on ED_Update.date01 = ED_Query.date01
    Thank in advance.

  • Will Solaris 2.7 device drivers work in Solaris 2.6

    I have three systems running Solaris 2.6 for a customer application. My customer has requested a fourth system. The new system has the newer SCSI host adapter AIC-7890. Solaris 2.6 does not recognize the adapter and will not allow me to boot from the installation CD. I downloaded to Solaris 2.7 boot disk and it recognized the hardware. I tried using the Solaris 2.6 CD only to find out that it does not have the driver for the CD.The message I receive is:
    " can't load drivers for pci@0,0/pci9005,f@6/sd@3,0:a.
    can't load filesystem"
    How much trouble would it be to get the 2.7 device drivers and use them in Solaris 2.6? Or would I better off upgrading to Solaris 2.7? I am trying to avoid maintaining multiple versions of the operating system and not have to recertify my applications on the other existing systems.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Eddie Morris - Lockheed Martin Mission Systems

    * Hi Eddie,
    You may use Solaris 2.7 for the new system and retain Solaris 2.6 on the 3 old systems. There shouldnot be any operational problems if you have a mix of Solaris 2.6 and 2.7 systems. However, if you really do not want to maintain multiple versions of the OS, you may upgrade the Solaris 2.6 systems to Solaris 2.7.
    Thanks

    Crazy thought here. I noticed in your stacktrace a call to Java_sun_awt_motif_MToolkit_run. Is your solaris server set up with a Motif/X-Windows server? Or is it a 'headless' installation? Many java AWT and Graphics libraries rely on an underlying native windowing system.

  • How do I get new Genius Mixes?

    I click Genius Mixes and it's always the same old mixes. How do I create/get new Genius Mixes?

    You need to update your genius and you'll get the mix with your new genius results. If it isn't updating there may be an issue with your library that's stopping the error - either 4002 or 4010 errors. I would turn genius on an off in the "Store" menu then update genius. If that doesn't work (it didn't for me) here's what I did to get it working:
    Turns out there was an overriding issue with dead tracks for me.
    - Turn Genius off - this will delete the genius results.
    - Download the iTunes script Super Remove Dead Tracks http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=removedeadsuper
    - Install and run according to directions
    - Turn genius on
    Hopefully this fixes the issues and you'll get genius mixes when it stops updating.

    Hello. For some reason Genius Mixes don't appear in iTunes for me. Under the "Genius" section in the sidebar, only "Genius" appears. No Genius Mixes. I tried updating Genius, but it did nothing. Please help. I'm running iTunes 9.2.1.

  • Have more than 2 groups in Mixed Graph Signal

    Hi is it possible to have more than 2 groups in Mixed Graph Signal . I would like to graph my analog signals seperately like digital signals in Mixed Graph Signal but seems like I can have only 2 groups. 1 for digital and for analog. Is it possible to add another analog group so I graph my each analog signal in one group
    Thanks

    Hi,
    This discussion has come up in a couple of previous posts:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Mixed-signal-graph-Group-update/td-p/471000
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Programming-a-Mixed-Signal-Graph-s-Plot-Area-Name/td-p/1288066
    There still isn't any property node that enables us to do this programmatically.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Iphone 3g (3.1.2). Any problems if I update iOS5?

    I've got an iphone 3g currently running 3.1.2.
    tried to update to 4.0 but the sync freezes every time I attempt. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I've heard many complaints of lag and slow connection for iphone 3g's running 4.0 and above.
    my main question is whether or not I should update my iphone 3g 3.1 (or attempt) to iOS5 and if anybody else is in my situation having any problems? Thanks in advance.

    Really? Is that true you cannot update your G3 to IOS 5? I did this last night...with mixed results. It updated successfully on all fronts except for my music. I can see my music listed on the computer but my iphone says I have no music. Also, according to the data bar on the computer (when my iphone is connected) I am suddenly way over on my data...even though I had PLENTY of space left before. At a loss as to what to do now...thinking I may just have to do the "return to factory settings" and reupload ALL my music back to my phone...but what operating system will I be left with???
