LMS 4.1 cisco view

Dear all,
I am trying to access the cisco view but a message appears notifying me to install the devices packages, i have tried to do an online update from the software center, but it did not work.
the devices that i have are, 2960 switches and 6500 switches and 3560 switches.
any idea of how to fix this issue.

Seems some corrupt packages are creating issues. Try the following command :
NMSROOT/bin/psucli -p cvw -cpf
If the issue persist, i would recommend to open a TAC case for this to be troubleshooted further.
-Thanks

  • Cisco View Device Manager

    Hi,
is there anybody who can tell me how to bring the Cisco View Device manager for 6500er up? I've installed the CVDM V.1.1 in the bootflash of my 6500er, IOS version is 12.2(18)SXF4 enterprise services. Installed java on the client is v.1.4.2_06. After launching the CVDM whithout proxy settings the windows starts gathering information, after a few seconds it stops with an error "java.lang.NullPointerException". This failure appeared with Mozilla 2.0.0.8 and IE 6.0, on the 6500er all vty lines are idle. Is anybody here who can help to solve the problem?

Here the text from the readme file; try to get the zip-file via the Bug-Id:
    09-December-2005
This patch provides fix for the following bug:
    CSCsc10956 - CVDM 1.1 does not work with 12.2(18)SXF
    SUPPORTED IOS VERSION:
    12.2(18)SXF
    SIZE:
    5,593,057 Bytes
DOWNLOADING AND MOVING FILES TO TFTP SERVER:
cvdm-c6500-1.1-CSCsc10956.zip contains the following two files
    * cvdm-c6500-1.1.tar and
    * cvdm-c6500-1.1_K9.tar (for Cisco IOS Cryptographic software)
Unzip cvdm-c6500-1.1-CSCsc10956.zip and copy one of the tar files to a TFTP server
Make sure to enter filenames exactly as they appear; (filenames are case-sensitive).
    TRANSFERRING FILES TO YOUR SWITCH:
Step 1 : Access the switch CLI using a Telnet connection or the console port.
Step 2 : Transfer the files from the TFTP server to the bootflash of the switch. Issue
    the following command:
    # archive tar /xtract tftp:// / bootflash:
where is the filename of the CVDM-C6500 tar file you want to install
and is the IP address of the TFTP server. Make sure to enter filenames
exactly as they appear (filenames are case-sensitive). Make sure you are not in
configuration mode when issuing the archive command.
Step 3 : If you are not in configuration mode, issue the following command:
    # configure terminal
Step 4 : Set HTTP server and path. For example:
    # ip http path bootflash:
Please refer cvdm-c6500-1_1_readme.pdf in http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cvdm-6k for

  • Cisco View

I m not able to view the cisco router 3825 and 2800 in cisco view i have Version 6.1.2 i even install the latest package but still not able to get the view, it is giving me again and again error that required package is not install please hlep me out how to solve this problem.

    Dear Wasim
This is what we did to solve a similar problem at a customer.
    a) Remove the appropriate device package from CiscoWorks Common Services >> Device Update. Re-Install (Update) the package from the internet.
    b) If (a) does not work, Remove ALL 'CiscoView Devices Packages' from CiscoWorks and Re-Install. I think they are about 90 or so.
We had errors with various devices including 2800, 7600 Series Routers, 2960,6500 Series Switches, and by following the approach (b) above, all are working perfectly now.

  • Devices in cisco view

    Hi
what is the reason if can see  , cisco devices in cisco view while you can't see some of these devices in topology service?
    thanks in advance
    Ibrahim

    Ibrahim,
As you know some devices may not show up as connected to others due to their CDP neighbor adjacency not being determined for various reasons.
Please look under unconnected devices view on Topology to see if your "missing" devices are there. Another place you can check the same thing is within Device Center - click on the "Topology" tab near the top of the page and you should see the topology specific to that device. For something like and ASA (which doesn't support CDP), it will always show as "alone" and always be put into the Unconnected Devices view.

  • Cisco View / Save running config

Our helpdesk folks use Cisco view to enable/disable ports.  Yesterday one of our switches lost power and the running config was not saved.  Is there I can force Cisco View to save the config so this doesn't happen?
If not, does anyone know of a work around I can implement?

Actually there are a few more options with this as well.
I would set it up to store them either locally in its own directory maybe called configs and put them on flash:
or you can send them off to a remote spot with tftp or ftp.
Also you need to figure out how many of these archived file you want to keep, 14 is the default.
    you could do this...
    config t
    cd slot0:
    mkdir configs
That will make a directory on flash in slot 0
    next
    config t
    archive
path slot0:/configs/$h   ------the $h will use the host name for the file name
    write-memory
    time-period 1440
maximum 5   ---------this will make it so only 5 configs are saved in archive

  • Cisco LMS VS HP open view

    Good day team,
is there any major difference between them more than the one belows
    Cisco LMS
    only cisco devices
    easy to manage
    can use cisco discovery
    HP OPEN view
    MultiVendor
    hard to manage
    can not use deivce discovery

    Hi,
I dont have a much experience with HPOV, but i can share more benefits from what you have already mentioned about
CWLMS, due to which I think it surpasses HPOV in many sense.
CiscoWorks LMS is a very powerful management  tools that simplify the configuration, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Cisco networks.
Following are some of the more detailed features which separate LMS from any other NMS software :
    > A strong next-generation device discovery is done using cisco Propreitary CDP and other new technologies, modules and protocols like HSRP, ARP, BGP, OSPF, Cluster Discovery Module, LLDP, and routing Table as well.
    > Real-time network fault analysis with easy-to-deploy, device-specific, best-practice templates.
    > Hardware and software inventory management, centralized configuration tools, and syslog monitoring.
    > Monitoring and tracking of network response time and availability via IP SLA
    > Real-time device and link management, as well as port traffic management, analysis, and reporting.
    > Support for network virtualization through configuration, reporting, monitoring and troubleshooting for VRFLite networks.
    > More quickly and reliably utilize Cisco best practices using Cisco Smart Business Architecture (SBA) templates.
    > LMS has Smart Services Interaction for contextual Technical Assistance Center (TAC) case creation and Cisco Support Community and it's interaction can Smartly tap into the Cisco Support Community knowledge base, streamline interactions with TAC.
    > Cisco Prime LMS manages the deployment of the latest Cisco technologies and services such as medianet, Cisco TrustSec, and EnergyWise.
    > A very crucial support for End-host manangement, including a separate IP Phone information.
    > An integrated Inventory, software and configuration archive mechanism.
    > Get immediate up-to-date information about the network through flexible reporting for inventory, user tracking, compliance, switch port usage, end-of-sale, PSIRT, and other critical areas.
    > Easily manage all phases of the end-to-end lifecycle of Cisco value-added technologies and solutions, such as medianet, EnergyWise, TrustSec and Identity, Auto Smartports, and Smart Install.
A better comparison, if you are planning to get one, is ofcourse by using both of them. A evaluation Copy of Ciscoworks can anytime be downloaded from :

    Hope it helps!

  • LMS 4.2 Topology View

    Hi
I have installed LMS 4.2 in one of my customer site. We have added all the switches and everything works perfectly. Recently we added all the CCTV cameras in lms.
Issue is that when CCTV camera is down  it takes a long time to show in topology map..Any one knows how to make  view in topology map as real time. Atleast a delay of 30sec is okay..

Topology view is not really intended to be a real time (or near real time) fault management tool. While you can turn up the speed of it's discovery cycle, it will create excessive workload and, depending on the size of your network, may result in polling never stopping due the time to complete one cycle being more than the time you have configured to start over again.
To see near real time faults (such as loss of a CCTV camera), have operators refer to the Fault Monitor display:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/user/guide/lms_monitor/mnt-faultbrowser.html
If you want to customize the polling of devices for fault management, refer to the Fault Management chapter of that same guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/user/guide/lms_monitor/mnt-fault.html

There is a cli option to restore the portal views.  CSCOpx/bin/RestorePortal.pl
If you have not made to many changes this is the best option.
I don't think the portal.db is part of the backup. Maybe it is if you have made changes. Check your backups.

  • LMS 4.2 topology view telnet

    Dear all,
I am trying to open a telnet from the topology view but the internet explorer is not opening the command prompt window, i am using i.e 9, and i know that the telnet is not supported on both 8 and 9 i.e.
i have also tried to install Mozilla firefox, but when i try to open the topology view it prompts me to install java always.
so does any one have i patch or something that works to open a telnet over the i.e or any ideas.

  • SW download: unable to download Cisco View device packages and CVW patches

With the current Software Download frontend I cannot find a way to download ciscoview device packages and software patches; I can get these files through the "Software Search" feature but that's hardly what I need. To update a LMS server that is not allowed to connect to the internet it is necessary to have the option to download these device packages and patches in a bulk....
just tell me where to click.... :-)

I am not sure if I understand your problem.
According to error message the hostname "ci4503hq1401" cannot be resolved by your LMS server. Also I see all your devices listed with IP addresses in the device selector tree. Open the cli (DOS box or terminal window) *ON YOUR LMS SERVER* and try to resolve the hostname with the tool NMSROOT/bin/resolver.pl. If this is not successfull, add the device to your DNS or edit the hosts file accordingly.

    Try both :

    Share NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/logs/stdout.log and stderr.log.
