LMS config deployement with new device

Hello,
I have recovered some configuration files from my 2950 switches with the Configuration Archive Tool in LMS.
Now, I'd like to replace my old 2950s by 2960 switches, which have the same number of ports.
Will there be any issue if I copy the exact same config from 2950 to 2960 ? Will some features not work or is everything interoperable ?

The 2960 is just an upgrade of the 2950 switch much like the 2960S is an upgrade of the 2960 so there should be no major problems unless there are some weird commands on the interfaces themselves. Nothing shown above looks like it wouldn't work to me.
You may want to go through the config a little, having enable secret and enable password is worthless, only keep enable secret, it is more secure. service password-encryption and some ACL's on SNMP might also be worth considering, depends how security concencious you are. Also the new enable secret command on IOS 15.1+ I think uses encryption type 4 to encrypt the password, again more secure but up to you. I'm guessing this is more about will it work rather than pointing out best practices that are fairly well documented by many others.
If you do come across a line of unsupported config the 2960 should give a warning or error anyway, things don't go boom and blow blue smoke, most of the time anyway.

Reinstall MI Client with new device ID

Hi guys,
In MI 7.0 I removed a device ID and uninstalled the client.
After reinstallation, I created same user locally and after first sync I received a new device ID.
Then I assigned the xAPPL to the device ID and run new sync.
After sucessfully instalation the old device ID is assigned back to the device.
Therefore I cannot perform any sync since the old device ID has been removed from the server.
Any tips?

As feedback I found the cause of the problem. Since I'm installing the pilot client in a Windows Vista laptop, program files were installed in:
C:/Program Files/SAP Mobile Infrastructure
I don't know why, when you start the application, these files are
transfered to:
C:\Users\<my user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure
All time I was uninstalling the MI client, only the C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure were being deleted, but not the other route.
After uninstalling the application I manually deleted the other route.
With new installation, the aplication received a new device ID and it was not assigned automatically to the old one.

My new Iphone 5 won´t install applications from the cloud. It shows them in itunes but it refuses to sync with new device

I upgraded from Iphone 4 to a new Iphone 5.
I transfered all my info succesfully, but my aplications wont work properly: Viber speaker seems disconnected, I am not able to install new apps.
I´ve restaured and tried to start from scratch, but this time my apps wont even sync.
Some of my apps show in itunes, but I can´t find the way to sync via Itunes, i dont find the part where it says "allow this new device to install" or something like that.

The only way I am able to install apps in my new Iphone 5 is via Itunes (my computer), I dont seem to be able to download apps from my Iphone.
In every attempt the phone asks for my password for my Apple ID, which I provide correctly ... and then ... nothing. I hope you can give a hand here.

User Id with new device

I just received my upgrade BB curve 9360, email, internet service,& BB messenger working OK, but when trying to access the App world I can't log in. I used my Id & password on line & login was OK, but the device is not letting me to associate my Id to the new smatphone. OS is 7.1.0

Wierd connectivity issue with new devices

I've got a HomeHub2 linked via the Infinity service at home, had for a while with an array of devices hanging off the wireless (2 x Dell laptop, 1 x Sony, 1 iPad and a Blackberry) and wired connections (BT Vision, Xbox 360, Windows Media Center, Panasonic Blu-ray) - all working fine
I got an advent laptop as a gift someone and was setting it up and neither wireless or wired connections would work. I could see the wireless lans and I could enter my WPA key and it would appear to connect but gave the yellow triangle and listed it as "No internet access".... So I took the laptop back to PC world and they replaced with a HP laptop.
This is suffering exactly the same problem, the only common part of the two systems are Realtek network devices on both laptops and Windows 7.
I have Win7 on 5 of my existing machines, so thats "probably" not the cause. But has anyone else seen this issue ?

I don't think that Windows 7 will be causing the problem... The only constant in both situations is the wifi adapter.
The hub is set as mixed mode WPA/WPA2 as standard. I'd give it a try and change it to normal WPA in the hub manager.. Then try to connect with the new laptop. See if that fixes it.
As far as I can remember, you shouldn't have to change any of your other wireless devices to do that. Although they will drop for a moment when you change the security mode. After that, they should detect the hub automatically and reconnect.

Just bought new macbook pro and can't get iPhone 4s data pics, music contacts etc to sync with new device, why?

i have an ipad, iphone, 13" macbook pro and mac mini all whihc run fine.
i bought new family macbook pro today but cant get my phone 4s to sync its data ie pics, music, contacts etc

Transfer the contents from the old computer to a new computer. With a few exceptions, i-gadgets are designed to match the content of a device to the content on a computer, not really the other way around. You can move iTunes purchases from a device onto a computer, but no music obtained some other way.

Before upgrading have you got your backup on desktop software ?
If yes then can , then connect your device to BB desktop software > On BB Desktop software Click applications>
There you can see all you application List before your upgrade.
Select on the Application that you want to transfer then Click APPLY.
If your Lost Apps are paid APPS. and you are not able get it than look at this thread link reinstalling paid apps

I updated wifi in home with new device. laptops and iphone connected just fine.. Ipad connects to wifi but says no internet access.. update the ipad thru itunes, tried forgetting and resetting network.. HELP!!!!

Any help on this?/ this is crazy.. both iphones and laptops connect and work just fine.. our ipads will not connect... very strange

to your home wifi. May I ask are you able to connect to other wifi networks? If
so then please forget your home network again, turn wifi off, reboot, and
retest. If this doesn't work then you will want to reset network settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind that
this will delete ALL wifi passwords that you have saved.

Moving config to new device

As the subject suggests I have been set the task of exporting a config to a new device. The new device will have the outside interface assigned by the service provider. The current ASA has the following in the config

if the host 10.10.10.10 is the actual ip address of the outside interface can I just replace it with the following - given that I wont know the dynamically assigned ip of the new ASA?

Yes, using the keyword "interface" is supported for that on the ASA and quite usefull with dynamic addreses.
But what do you want to do with that ACL? Having the same host both as source and destination in *one* ACL is not useful in most cases.

Nokia MD-51W JBL PlayUp only works with old device...

I've got this portable speaker and have used it for a while with an older Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR enabled phone, now switching to newer phone and the speaker connects, but no sound coming out of the speaker. Tried with various Bluetooth 3+ devices like HTC One X, Iphone, Samsung GS4 and the speaker is not working with any of them. Since higher Bluetooth versions are backward compatible with lower versioned devices, it should not be any problem I think. Running latest software on the speaker (same one as it was shipped with, 0.63). Any chances to get the speaker working with newer devices?

If there is no sound output coming out on all connecitivity mode, even on direct cable connection. I'd advise sending the device to the store of origin or to a Nokia Care Centre in your area.

Problems with adding a new device in Common Services

Hello,
I have the following problem: I need to add a new device in my Cisco Works. What I do is I go to Common Services >> Device and Credentials >> Device Management. There I click "Add" and I add the new device with the corresponding credential set.
Then, in the RME >> Job Management >> RME Jobs I can see a new job created (
CDA:CDA job due to Device Add. ) because of this addition but this jobs stays always in status Running and it never finishes. Most probablt because of that this newly added device never actually appears in the RME so I cannot operate with it - deploy software, save configs, etc.
I did this test a few times and all the times this is the result.
I tought that it might be a firewall issue blocking some protocol needed for the communication, as SNMP, telnet or something else. But if I go to Decice Center and I select this newly added device (which there appears with the question mark icon, not with the right device icon) I can see all the information for it, like Detailed Device Report, etc.
Then I noticed that in the RME Jobs section I have some more jobs that are like running forever - "
CredEditCDA: CDA job due to Credential Edit".

So, my question is what might be the reason for this behaviour and what can I do in order to unblock these jobs and add my device normally?
What I use is:
Windows Server
LMS 3.2
RME 4.3.0

OK,
first of all, have you intergrated lms with ACS ? - check in common services - server - security - single-server mgmt - local user policy setup.
If this is in ACS, check if the newly added devices is in ACS... Check if this devices is reflecting in common services itself...make sure that the device type is selected properly ???
Next do a snmp test in device center for this machine..how would you do this --" in device center, select the device, do a management to station and select the snmpv2 and ok it" you will get if snmp is failing or not...As you mentioned it is coming in question mark..this is because the correct device type is not selected in common services.
Do an update inventory & archive and check the status..

LMS 3.2 on Solaris 10 - New devices and RME archive job

I've created a RME job that archive syncs our devices. When I add new devices to Common Services, which updates RME, will those new devices have their configurations archived by that same RME job, or do I need to create a new job?
When the existing job was created the option "All Devices" was selected.

Hi Jose,
If you really wants to track the devices configuration with the help of RME Jobs ( sometimes for auditing purpose we have to have a job ), then you can schedule a job as well but with the option Group Selector like (Select A Layer: Device SelectorGroup Selector ). You can see this option at the very top while creating the job. If you select this option, the membership of the group is dynamic in nature i.e this job will run on all those devices which exist in the group that you have selected at the time of running of job and not at the time of creation of job. For example, if you had created job on Normal Group of RME, then this job will attempt to take the backup of config of all those device which exist in Normal Group. So if your RME is synchronized with DCR (Common Services), and if you are adding the new device to Common Service, then you need not to add this device again for this schedule job since DCR will send this device to RME and once this device have inventory collected, it will automatically be in the normal group of RME and since we had selected Group selector option, RME will collect the config for this device too.
However periodic polling and periodic collection is also desinged to acheive the same purpose and known as kind of administrative task for managing the devices in RME.
Now the question arise what is difference between periodic polling and periodic collection :- Its very simple actually -
Periodic Polling :- Under Periodic polling, RME will first poll the device and if it find any change in the actual configuration of device with the existing configuration in RME . it will trigger collection of backup config for the device. If it will not find any difference between the actual configuration on the device and the existing configuration in RME, it will not trigger any new sync archive on the device thus save your network resources.
Periodic Collection :- Under Periodic Collection, it will not do any comparison and always trigger the sync archive on the device. However you will be able to see the new version of device configuration only when any change on the device happen since there is no point of keeping the same config many times in RME database.

I receved a new computer for christmas and my ihone with show up on the new devices on my new itunes but with not connect to the itunes computer music library how do i fix this ?

I have recived a new computer for christmas and dowloaded the new itunes on it but when i hook my iphone 4 up to the new computer with the new itunes it will only show up on the new devices the music i have on it will not show up in the new itunes lirary on my new computer i hate having to hook my iphone everytime to see my music! can some one show me how to fix this!?!?!?!?! My computer says it's been synced with another device besides my own, and it wont let me do anything in itunes until I either start up the device as a new one, or restore from another back up, and i dont know what to do!

I got the new ipad several weeks ago, and since i had the ipad 2 before it, i transfered the data from it to my computer and gave the ipad 2 (techinally new since it had nothing on it) to a family member. Now, when I go to itunes on my computer with the new ipad, it says that the computer has already been synced with another device, and my only two options are to set the ipad up as a new one or to restore from a backup (my up-to-date backup for the new ipad does not come up on itune's list of backups that went to my computer). So now because of this, there is no way i can put anything from my computer to the ipad, or even look at it through Itunes on the computer! Is there any other option for me?! I need help now!!

I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.
Plug your phone into iTunes
Click setup as a new device
Immediately unplug your phone from the computer
Give it about 30 seconds and iTunes will give a message (I don’t remember the specific, but regarding you unplugging the device and it not completing)
Plug your phone back in
Viola! no restore occurred and you can access everything again
This computer has previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device.
